On Wednesday of last week I contacted Spencer regarding a drywall issue on a corner-bead in the hopes that he could help me out. I was elated when he said that he would be able to give me a quote on the work. He got back to me with a quote on the same day (Wednesday), and was able to set up a mutually agreeable time to complete the work the very next day (Thursday). The cherry on top of this painless experience was the "before" and "after" photos that were sent to me at the completion of the job. Photos are by no means a necessity, but it is always nice to see the transformation. I will be keeping Spencer’s contact info on-hand for any future drywall emergencies or painting that I will be getting done - he will definitely be my go-to!

Spencer and his team did a very professional and efficient job of our project (the majority of our house). There is one smaller wall that's needing a touch up, but otherwise things are looking very good. We would certainly recommend Elite Trade Painting for any residential job. The reason we're giving 4 stars (we'd give 4.5 if we could) is because one of the walls is needing re-doing and because we were told that nail locations would be left as-is and they got covered, meaning we have to re-measure all of our painting locations.

I hired Spencer to paint the interior ceilings and walls in my basement this summer, and what started off as a good experience, turned into a drawn-out debate on who is right or wrong. The paint failed and cracked throughout my entire ceiling, ultimately leading to Elite Trade walking away from the issue. A little background - Spencer quoted on my basement ceiling and walls which both had a "popcorn" texture with known and tested asbestos. He was professional and timely with quoting and communication. His crew of two came in to paint shortly after, without Spencer to brief them on-site about the texture. His crew assured me that they've done so many popcorn ceilings, so there's nothing to worry about. They completed the painting in one day and there was overspray in many places other than the walls. They quickly left after just finishing the last coat of paint, and once the paint had dried, the issues started. The popcorn ceiling cracked and peeled in all corners and flat areas, exposing the asbestos underneath that the paint was meant to encapsulate. The final result was not only unsightly, but dangerous for my family. I brought the issue up with Spencer and we talked through why it could be that this was happening. Respectfully, I did not agree with his theory and explanation, so I reached out to various paint contractors and Benjamin Moore customer service to learn more - the consensus was that the paint had been over applied without giving it 2-3 hours drying time between coats and that the wrong paint was used (water-based BM UltraSpec500). Benjamin Moore was clear that a water-based paint should never be used on popcorn without an oil-based primer, especially in an older home. Spencer did not agree, and leaned on the idea that it is "inner-coat adhesion" - a convenient clause in their contract that gives them a way out. Spencer's suggestion to resolve the matter was to not pay him for the job and instead pay for a next job at a reduced rate. Obviously this was not adequate, and after a few more conversations, Spencer's communication stopped. The project left me and my family with an urgent problem that we spent thousands of dollars on to fix due to the asbestos danger of the cracked paint; not to mention months of unusable space. I caution anyone that has popcorn ceilings to think twice before trusting Elite Trade Painting with that kind of job.

Special Event Rentals

We used Elite Trade Painting to paint the Special Event Rentals showroom and offices. From the quoting process to completion, Spencer and his team were professional and efficient. The entire process was great - from the walk through and quote with great paint colour suggestions (I’m really happy with the choice of colours!) to the kind and helpful crew on painting day. They did an amazing job with some tricky obstacles (like painting around built in shelves), and left things tidy afterward by vacuuming their work space and reinstalling curtain rods that were removed to paint. Let's be honest.. you roll the dice sometimes with painters. Lots are great.. but there are a lot of people think they can paint and they actually can't. Elite's skill is in their name.. Elite! I research contractors now after being burned a few times.. I was really impressed with the scope of work they do! I've seen some larger commercial buildings and high-end homes they have painted. Chauvet Rentals

Elite Trade Painting did a large and difficult exterior painting project on our home. It involved changing the colour on cedar siding, and painting the soffits and eavestroghs. They arranged for a carpenter to repair old rotted boards and provided scaffolding as necessary. The entire team was professional and paid excellent attention to detail. They cleaned up the site every day and the job was supervised well keeping us informed as to progress along the way. We were very happy with the work.
