It was more expensive than I expected. I've made more and better pottery at other studios for less. I would like to be able to build my own pieces, but I didn't know that did that until recently. They present as a place to paint pre-built pieces. At least some of their pieces are pre-made in places across at least one ocean. Mine said made in Thailand and my mom's was made elsewhere, I remember it as Vietnam, which is not in Welland. Thankfully they weren't made in China. Edited for clarity and to correct my own misconceptions.

The Painted Turtle is great for all ages. I bring my 2 and 4 year old there regularly. We make gifts for family and friends and you can tell how much sentimentally they mean. The birthday party for my 4yo was the best experience, I literally did nothing but bring my child and it was the best birthday, they took care of everything. All the kids enjoyed it and we booked for this year! My grandmother, mother, aunt and myself painted gorgeous light up trees and now we have those memories forever. The staff took us through the whole process and made it fun. My brother's (24 and 22) and I came to one of their themed trivia nights and enjoyed it so much came back and painted more the next day! Sue (the owner) is funny, genuine and so helpful. I'm proud to support this local business and will continue to. Daycamp is going to be a blast! This isn't an experience you will get with a chain business. This is a hidden gem you need to try. Make gifts, buy a gift certificate for someone, come for a fun experience together, book a party or try out an event. You won't regret it.

Great place to visit as a drop in for pottery. The camps are great...kids night out are great for younger kids, the adult night is also fun to learn a new skills. Love this place great atmosphere. Staff are fantastic and welcoming!

An amazing pottery and paint studio. Sue and her team are incredible! A beautiful place with very knowledgeable, creative and helpful staff. You can drop in to paint or sign up for a variety of fun classes. They also do great, hassle free birthday parties! As a regular customer with my young kid.. highly recommend :)

My daughter attended a birthday party for a friend. She says that the Staff were "pretty good" and "very helpful". She says the craft was well explained, amusing and very artsy! She loved being able to pick her own sculpture! She chose the "adorable baby elephant"! There was no problem attending with my Service Companion. None of the Staff or Patrons gave her any consideration. Thank you to the staff! I love encouraging her Artistic flow!

This place has become very unprofessional. It is not enjoyable. The owners and their staff are extremely rude when talking to customers and talk down to them. I have refused my daughter to paint there. Customer service needs some work.

I sent my daughter to the painted turtle for spring break. She thoroughly enjoyed her week there and brought home a lot of really neat little clay things (boxes, tic tac toe pieces, a stained glass she made). I recommend this as a good place to send your kids but they could do with being a little more organized.

Pre paid for 4 spots for an event. Then when it was made online I simply took a credit because my girls and I were doing it together. So I asked for credit and a month ago I ordered what I wanted they took a week to get back to me and one of the items they had wait on. So that was over 2 weeks ago no contact nothing. Very poor service.

We spent a few hours together talking and laughing with the staff, painted some pottery and had some snacks. Great experience, something you can do as a couple or a family. There was NO INSTRUCTION as per their ad, the paint was very thin resulting in poor quality colour, instead of vibrant colour, and the glazing (done by The Painted Turtle) had globs in it. We were very disappointed because we went to the workshop to learn NEW techniques of dotting. The instructor had never done Mandala dotting, so how could he instruct? This was NOT a workshop, it was a means for them to sell their product. Barb Moore Cook Barb Moore Cook Those 'magnificent' plates are NOT a result of your workshop. You advertised to 'come in and paint this beautiful mug'. When I saw that picture I wanted to learn from the person who did that mug. I thought I could learn new things from someone with that talent. The only instruction we were given was 'to start dotting'. We were not even shown the basics of making a mandala. IF the blobs of glaze were an easy fix, then why was I sent home with it not fixed? The plates looked like they had been washed in greasy dishwater. That is not what I want to display in my home or give as gift to someone. The issue with the paint being too thin was commented on many times throughout the evening...with no solution given.It was pointed out that the paint was so thin it was running down the lid of the container on to the table. To my amazement scrolling through a group for people that do dotted mandala's ..I come across a post of a piece that looked very familiar. People started naming the person who created it, so of course I went in search of her work. Well wasn't I shocked when I seen the exact same picture on her site that you used for your advertisement?? Talk about false advertising, just as you are doing in this post. I'm glad the other 2 ladies that were there are happy with their pieces..I'm sure the one girl was happier when I showed her how to make an actual Mandala on her mug.

The owner she is a real peach. She is rude and nasty & she needs to take some lessons on customer service because she clearly has none. She is abrupt to kids snapping at them. I was warned by another friend not to go there, however I had already purchased something from her before I talked to my friend. Never Ever Ever Ever will I go to Painted Turtle in St. Catharines on Welland Ave again. She left me with an unfinished piece that she refused to finish. I do not recommend this place to anyone. She has family/ friends write positive views for her. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE to anyone.

This is the most wonderful place... I always feel welcome and everyone is so helpful... I don't want to refer to the turtle crew as staff because they truly become more like friends on your very first visit. We have done family days, date night and birthday parties for kids and adults here. It's also great for some "me" time. No matter the reason every visit is wonderful... Never dissapointed!

I have been here a few times, I'm not a family member or a friend, and I had an awesome time! I was there for sip and splatter classes and in no way was any of the staff rude or unpleasant.. They were actually very helpful and funny. Just remember that people in the customer service industry are allowed to have a bad day or two, and if you walk into a place with a negative view, chances are you will find things to complain about that you normally wouldn't even think twice about..check this place out for yourself,I'm sure will have just as pleasant of a time as I do.

I attended one of their paint nights in Dec. with a few other friends. They were good at what they do. The instructions & class was great. I intend to use their services for a fundraiser & difinately will go to another class there. They are very pleasant & I think the services they offer are a great way to keep children off the streets. I highly recommend them.
