We used MDG Painting to paint our 8000 sqft waterfront home in Ladysmith. We talked to a few painters and MDG’s approach was exactly what we wanted. Mike gave us a budget and an hourly rate for extras. His pricing landed exactly where we expected and the extras he did under his hourly rate (which is totally fair). We were not looking for a crew of summer students painting our house. Mike was on site every day, needed no babysitting and honestly, quality was absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend using MDG for any of your painting needs.

We hired Mike (owner/operator of MDG Painting) to paint our recently purchased 3 floor, 3 bedroom, 2.5 baths, 1650 sq ft townhouse which was constructed in 1995. The home has had 3 previous owners and several paint jobs completed over the years. Unfortunately none of the previous paint jobs were done by a paint professional and it was immediately evident that only a real pro could rectify the less than perfect work done by well meaning but somewhat sloppy owners before us. Mike came by prior to our taking possession and assessed the challenge. He pointed out that the the colours used in some rooms would take as many as four coats of paint depending on our colour choices and preference of supplier. We selected our colour pallet, paint supplier and paint grade, based on his recommendations. Following his advice proved to be the best decision we made based on the completed project. We delayed our move date to allow Mike unencumbered access to the entire space. He showed up on our agreed start date ready to go. No delays because he needed to get supplies or additional paint throughout the entire project. He was on site from early morning until early evening and only stopped work once a day to eat lunch. Mike is very cordial and interesting but he never once got carried away with idle chit chat while he was as on our clock. He was there to work and work he did. Mike can only be referred to as an expert in his field. He is also a perfectionist in the true sense. His cutting in is flawless. We have not found a single wobble in his linear work. No off colour bumps of paint where walls join ceilings. Not a single flaw to be seen where one colours abuts another. Every square inch of flooring in our home is hardwood and we haven’t found a speck of paint on any floor. Absolutely everything Mike did for us is flawless. Mike delivered a completed job beyond our expectations. Even though he did have to cut in and roll four coats on many of the areas of our home, he completed our job exactly in the time he estimated. He doesn’t rush but he never stops when he’s on the job. Best of all, his bill came in lower than we expected based on the work he completed for us. Great guy, great work ethic, quality - second to none. We couldn’t give him a higher recommendation. He’s the best we’ve ever worked with.
