EDIT: Cloverdale Paint has since contacted me, and attempted to make things right. I appreciate the time they took to speak with, and work with me. As such, I am revising my review from a 1 star to a 4 star. I am supremely disappointed with the Nanaimo location of cloverdale paint. My husband and I spent nearly an hour with one of their associates creating a stain for our ceiling, that had already been permanently inastalled. We asked them how to apply what to use etc and it was all bad information. They physically handed us the roller they said to use for the ceiling and the ceiling is finished product is FULL of streaks and bubbles. We called the to ask for help and said that they take no responsibility. So so so unhappy!

Most of the paint I purchased was of good quality however the Sharkskin deck paint was less than acceptable. In less than one year it was flaking off and when I complained to the store about the poor performance they simply said it was because that color fails in sunlight. I pointed out that my deck is shaded and doesn’t receive direct sunlight. Their response was simply to say that the color was the issue. If the color is a problem I would suggest they cease sales of that color. Their unwillingness to stand behind their product has convinced me to shop elsewhere for my paint in the future. I wouldn’t recommend this paint or this store to anyone. Very disappointed.

I recently purchased paint from Cloverdale after being assured by staff that they could provide an exact colour match of my old paint which was from a different manufacturer. Trusting the paints were identical I used my old paint to do the cutting-in, and finished the walls with the Cloverdale paint. When the walls dried it was clearly obvious the two paints were not a colour match resulting in my having to do the cutting-in all over again in three rooms using the Cloverdale paint. The result was I started with off-white walls and ended up with pale yellow. When I complained to staff later I was told the paint may NOT be an exact match but is close. Had I been properly informed in the beginning I would not have used two different manufacturers paint. Unfortunate and time-consuming lesson learned!

Went there to get a paint match to do a few little touch ups on my walls, they didnt even ask me how much paint I needed and just handed me a huge tin that I had to pay around $60 for. And it doesnt even match that well.

Extremely poor customer service. I had to make three trips to their location today. During my first trip I was told that they did not have the Cloverdale paint color I was looking for anymore and that I needed to come back with a paint sample for them to match. When I came back the second time with the sample I was told it would take a day to match the colour and that I had to come back tomorrow (should have been told this during my first visit). I asked if this could be escalated to see if it could be done today. I am staging my home for sale and needed the paint today and tomorrow wasn't an option. I was told by a more senior employee that the gallon could be mixed and ready by the end of the day. I received a call less than an hour later that my gallon was ready so I'm not sure why I was told it would be a day in the first place. I returned for a third time to pick up my paint and I was told they did not have the base gallon they quoted me and instead mixed my paint with a more expensive base gallon and I needed to pay the difference. I asked why I was not called ahead of time to confirm I was okay with this and the person working did not have an answer. I paid for the paint, and then after some consideration about my experience, I asked if they would just honor the original quoted price. The person working asked the more senior employee if this was okay. The more senior employee agreed, but did not realize that I had already paid. The senior employee was disgusted and told me with immense attitude "next time I want to ask for a refund I should do it before I pay for the paint". Apparently it was a lot of work for her to complete the refund transaction. I responded that "next time you're out of the paint you quoted you should contact your customer to see if they're comfortable paying more for the paint before you go ahead and mix a more expensive gallon and this whole situation could have been avoided". I would have left the gallon and got a full refund had I not already wasted half a day of my life. This was a very bad customer experience and I would advise others to go support other businesses who are more customer focused.
