REVIEWS OF Kitimat Museum & Archives IN Kitimat

The musuim is small building but presents lots of useful information about the history of Kitimat, Alcan and a mega project that was built 65 years ago. The musuim of Kitimat is reminiscence of what great people did by building a dam, a tunnel, a power house, a transmission line and an smelter. It portrays the hardship of craftmwn, engineers, architects and First Nation people and women who worked together despite all the differences and argument that they had to achieve what they targeted. Visiting this musuim is a must if you want to know about north west of BC through history.

Friendly staff and good collection make it worth a visit. While the museum is quite small they manage to share a number of objects and do a very good job of telling the story of Kitimat's history. Best place I've found for quality souvenirs from the area.

Very informative and well laid out museum. History of the area including pictures and artifacts. Make sure you go upstairs to learn about the First Nations people of the area. The gift shop has quality items, several locally made. Admission is by donation. If you come this far down the road make sure you stop here for a visit.

The second floor has products for sale made by people, they are one of a kind. A lovely space to browse and admire the work on display and for sale. I was on a time restraint, so did not have the time to read and enjoy the displays which explain the history of Kitimat. I visit Kitimat a few times each year. The museum is well worth your time and attention. Enjoy!
