(Translated) The upright sculpture "Kryptos" has been in the shape of a curved S since 1990 in the courtyard of the New Headquarters Building of the American secret service CIA in Langley. The American sculptor James Sanborn created this plaque from polished red granite and green slate, white quartz, magnetic iron ore and copper, with petrified wooden stakes attached. The board is written with 26 punched-out letters from the Latin alphabet and the question mark, which for the viewer seems to be pointless. The shape is reminiscent of a sheet of paper which, when rolled out, generates the vibration. The ancient Greek name "Kriptos" is an indication that the message that is here is encrypted. Even in ancient times, important messages that had to be delivered by messengers were coded, the key to which was only known to the sender and the recipient, in such a way that a third party could not read the text. Hobby cryptologists have so far not been able to solve the secret that the sculpture keeps. The CIA keeps the secret like a state treasure and leaves the world puzzling. In 2014, the sculptor gave two words to help puzzling over a little. "Berlin" is the translation of the last six letters and "Uhr" can be found in a different sequence. At the same time as "Kryptos", Sanborn set up other installations that can be thematically associated with secrecy. The idea for this sculpture and the other objects are undoubtedly a successful work of art in this environment, even if I value it aesthetically somewhat subdued. Der amerikanische Bildhauer James Sanborn schuf diese Tafel aus poliertem roten Granit und grünem Schiefer, weissem Quarz, Magneteisenerz und Kupfer, beigefügt sind versteinerte Holzpfähle. Die Tafel ist mit 26 ausgestanzten Buchstaben des lateinischen Alphabets und dem Fragezeichen, in für Betrachter vermeintlicher Sinnlosigkeit dicht beschrieben. Die Formgebung erinnert an ein Blatt Papier, das ausgerollt die Schwingung erzeugt. Die altgriechische Bezeichnung "Kriptos" ist das Indiz dafür, dass die Botschaft welche hier vorliegt, verschlüsselt ist. Hobby-Kryptologen gelang es bis anhin nicht, das Geheimnis welches die Skulptur verwahrt, zu lösen. Das CIA hütet das Geheimnis wie einen Staatsschatz und lässt die Welt rätseln. 2014 gab der Bildhauer zwei Worte preis, um den Rätselnden etwas auf die Sprünge zu helfen. "Berlin" lauten die sechs letzten Buchstaben übersetzt und "Uhr" ist in einer andern Sequenz zu finden. Gleichzeitig mit "Kryptos" stellte Sanborn noch andere Installationen auf, die sich thematisch mit Geheimhaltung assoziieren lassen. Die Idee zu dieser Skulptur und den andern Objekten, sind zweifellos ein gelungenes Kunstwerk in dieser Umgebung, auch wenn ich es ästhetisch etwas gedämpfter Werte.

" = "Question to be answered in translation;"" "OBKR" (key) = "FOR_" as Luke 12:2 (KJV) is a fit for the rest of the message (the real hidden human message is anagrammed in the accumulation of letters particularly in the spaces, where F = O, etc; O = B, etc; R= K, etc; space = R, etc,; process continued, accumulating letters on the right side of the equation throughout the remaining message while respecting spaces and punctuation).
