In early March 2020 our finished basement (rec room, laundry room, full bathroom, two kids rooms and crawl space) flooded after our weeping tile froze and backed up. We used AL Gullison for the emergency clean up, pack out, demo and rebuild. Cole and his team were incredible to work with from the first minute to the very last. They were the most punctual and professional company we have ever worked with and they took great care to ensure we were informed and that our expectations were managed throughout the whole experience. They were able to complete the water removal and drying, pack out, demo (floors, baseboards, 4" of drywall throughout) and repair (including two coats of paint) and pack in, in 17 business days. In that time frame there were only two days when we didn't have someone from their team on site working. I should add that all of this took place in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and despite that, they pressed on with no delays. We took the opportunity to have them renovate our downstairs bathtub outside of the insurance claim while everything was torn up and it caused no additional delay. I truly cannot say enough good things about the company and in particular, Cole, Dean, Kirk, Joanne and a few others whose name I wasn't able to catch. I highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again in the future! Thank you for making a terrible experience as easy as possible on us.

Will change my review if anything changes as the work is presently ongoing, though I am more than happy with what has happened thus far. I had a leaky roof and lead to a leaky basement. So a lot of work was going to be needed. Insurance covered thanks to some loophole, and referred these guys. The Forman has been great at keeping us in the loop, and Jim and the guys doing the work have been great (my daughter loves bothering him). Ceilings, walls, and floors are all being done and they have been professionals. I have zero complaints. Again the work is ongoing so I will update the review if need be, but I doubt I will need to.

Don't do it! I had a leak in my roof and my ceiling. My insurance company referred me to him personally as he's a contracted assessor affiliated with them. Unfortunately, the work wasn't covered by the insurance company. He still agreed to do the work (and be paid by myself directly) and even came to reassess the damage and provide me with the quote. He promised to send an estimate within the week and get started! That was a few months ago now and he stopped responding to my emails / phone calls since. Being pregnant, having my husband elsewhere unpredictably (in the forces), working full time myself, being a parent already and working subsequently on my masters' degree- I'm really stressed about the situation and he understood these factors (I was pretty upset by the water damage). For whatever reason he decided not to follow through with his commitment. I am finishing a review with the insurance company too but it's a longer process ????. Again, unless you want to be left high and dry (or in my case with a leaking entry way)- Don't do it!

As part of the SUN committee, they are always available to pick up or store furniture and do whatever else we may need. They are a great team all around!

This review was written by the members of the household. This past spring our basement was flooded by the rise of the Saint John river. We were fortunate that our home insurance provided for flood insurance, however this was not the end of our misery. Our insurance company referred us to Gullison as it appears they had a contract with them. After the water receded , Gullison showed up to remove the damaged section of our basement and the impacted appliances. After several days we had to call them to remove the debris from from our driveway so that we could have access to our garage. They then hired a company to wash the basement. This firm washed all the sand and other debris in our sump well. I notified Gullison and had them clean this mess. Gullison then set up several dehumidifiers and fans to dry up the basement. After two and a half days they sent an employee to remove their equipment. During this process I noticed that there were still two puddles of water on the floor, I provided a mop and pail to the employee to clean them. I requested that they leave a couple of fans to dry those sections and they complied. I then installed my own dehumidifier and it took well over a month to decrease the humidity from the mid 80's to the 50's. When Gullison removed the wet floor and walls, they left the nails in both of them. It took me a couple of hours to remove these from the joists and wall frame as these were hazardous . I contacted them again to see when they would return to restore the damaged section of our basement. I was informed that they would return either in late August or early September. As our laundry room was in the basement I had to relocate the washer and dryer elsewhere. This required additional expenses in plumbing and electrical as the floor consisted of joists and supporting shims. Since we still had items in our dining room and den and their delay in completing the work, we relocated these to another area of the basement. We were required navigate through the floor joists and the shims. We were fortunate nobody tripped because of this hazard. In late August I sent two emails requesting when they would return and received no response. I had to phone twice to be informed they were too busy and could not complete the work. My guess is that they knew the amount of funds available would not cover their costs. In order to put an end to this nightmare I informed the insurance company and received a cash payout. I will be making arrangements to have the work completed by another contractor, probably at additional costs. If you have any work done by Gullison, I hope you have a pleasant experience.

A.L. Gullison were amazing to work with. After some water damage in our basement we worked with them on the cleanup and restoration. They took a terrible situation and not only cleaned up and repaired the damage, but they paid really close attention to the details and it is now much better than it was before. Friendly, professional, responsive and their team are second to none. They were respectful, patient and professional when they were here and did work of outstanding quality. The work was also done quickly. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the end result and would recommend A.L. Gullison to anyone.

I had a bit of a problem; my son had tossed several tennis balls (and apparently a nerf football) onto the second floor roof. None of the balls made it back down. My gutters worked as required until recently; a tennis ball blocked the hole for the downspout. My own ladder could not reach (30+ feet). No company would come help with a long ladder. Gullison's came the same evening as I called..my back gutter was half full! I'm very greatful, it's a very reasonable price and timely service. When they removed the plugged tennis ball, the water came gushing out. With 80+ mm of rain in the forecast, it is truly appreciated!!

My experience with this company all started last year with a serious ice damming problem. My project manager kept me informed about progress, how to get the best out of our insurance claim (including helping with accommodations) and suggested solutions to the underlying problem instead of just correcting the superficial issues. The crews were respectful of my personal affects and very personable. Every craftsman/ woman that I had a chance to talk with, were very knowledgeable in their craft and didn't leave their lanes ( left electrical to the electrician, etc.). I dont think I could reccomend A.L. Gullison DKI enough and I hope to not have to do business with them again!!

Derek had come to our house to give us quote to reshingle our roof, his team arrived prepared to do the work, staff were courteous, did a great job, followed Worksafe protocols and cleaned the site very well when job was complete. A very good experience with this company.

In November 2019 my kitchen flooded and my home, workspace (teaching Chinese students over internet for VipKids) and my friend was visiting from Alberta. I was panicked but Derek and AL Gullison came to my rescue by making my place better than new, getting me a place to stay and even fixed my door ! The service was top notch and I didn’t miss a beat!! Great job Derek and great work A L Gullison ! Oh btw they also fixed my deck to my upstairs apartment in the middle of winter 2016 and it is awesome too!! Went to AL Gullison/DKI based originally on general knowledge of who they are when we had a fire in our garage that caused smoke damage to our entire house. We were displaced for a total of 3 months. Throughout the entire process DKI and their crew (primarily Derek, Joanne, and Preston) were amazing. They took amazing care of our home and all of our belongings during what was an incredibly stressful time displaced with two school aged children. Communication was amazing, even with the insurance adjuster (who also commented it was one of their best claim experiences). I was quite concerned about them meeting schedule (we wanted to be in early enough to enjoy Christmas in our home) and they achieved the date they originally set, amazing! Their team went above and beyond as we made some changes to our home in the process and Derek was incredible to deal with; no matter how often I called with questions he was always patient and gave me the time and guidance I needed, as did the rest of his team. Although I truly hope to never be in the situation again, there is no question I will be calling AL Gullison again!
