I wanted to write this letter earlier but I had to wait for my grand daughter to help me. I visited this location last week to pick out some new lights. I wanted those fancy lights that hook up to my phone because the grandkids keep going on about them. I tried to get them at the Home Depot and they looked at me like I was out of my mind. Luckily I was met by a young lady at Kent named Dariah who knew exactly what I was talking about. She was very kind, let me ask all my questions and seemed very happy to help me. The lights work great and are exactly what I want. Thankful that Kent has employees like Dariah. I'm not as nimble as I once was and these lights make life a little bit easier. God Bless -Hank G.

I was at this store today with my friend. He bought an air compressor. It was not powerful enough so he returned it for a more powerful model. Staff was really good about the return . He got it home to find out it didn't work. We went right back up to the store. A 3rd trip to the store that day. They didn't have any other stock of that model.The staff was so curtious and sympathic to the situation they tried to do everything to rectify the situation. In the end they really came through with customer service by offering an even better model for a discount and apologized over and over for the experience. This is what customer is all about. I highly recommend this store to anyone.

Shopping for product in the store is great and selection is ok. However, the service counter is under staffed and painfully slow, add the fact that returning anything in the lumber yard is also time consuming. Perhaps Kent needs to shadow Home Hardware when it comes to customer service. Hint hint... They allow debit or credit card purchases at service counter for faster service (time is money for customers). Also, redo the parking lot, it's a mess!!!!!

If you are considering having a rail installed, I would not recommend Kent. We have had many months of delays and issues, with very little regard for responsiveness or service. My preference is to support local but it’s very difficult to get someone on the end of the line who is customer service-focused and who cares about a quality job. This frustration has been a unique experience for us as we have a contractors account there and have otherwise had positive dealings. It’s just installation services who have fallen (quite) short. November 26, 2019 I wrote the review above on Sept 16 out of desperation for getting nowhere with staff in the installation department at Kent Bayers Lake. The Google review was successful in that there was finally some action on Kent's part - they called and had someone out to look at repair job that same week. They promised the repairs would happen asap and they'd keep me posted on timing. Since that visit, however, nothing.... Every few weeks I'll send the employee (whose name I will omit out of respect for his privacy) a follow-up email. He sometimes replies with apologies but most often it goes ignored. It is now over two months later! In the meantime, another glass panel has come loose and shattered. This is a small residential rail and in total the effort to get it installed properly and then repaired has been going on for ONE YEAR. I assume we're too small of a project to bother with. I'm not keen on negative reviews but I can't figure out who at Irving runs this operation and, after a year of relative patience, this feels like the only hope of getting any service. One more thing, I noticed that negative reviews get the exact same reply every time ("Thank you for taking the time to review our business! We want to thank you for your feedback as it helps us make improvements. We'd like to discuss your experience in greater detail, please contact us at...") which can come across as insincere.

I went to this Kent today. Wondering around looking for a patio stone. Passed a dozen worker who ignored me. Then I found a stone on sale for .99 a sq foot. At 13" tried to tell me it was 5$ so I used a square foot calculater and what do you know 1.16$ she still made me pay 2.60... I like supporting Canadian places but not if their going ignore me and over charge me then I will go somewhere else.

Well they really don’t listen to well, especially the cabinet woman I think her name is Linda she was quite rude! She got my order all wrong they refused to fix it! I told her and the contractors that I wanted a dishwasher opening in the cabinets that’s all! She still refuse To do it! Kent needs a bigger selection though, I was able to get most of my stuff there but 2 things i had to go elsewhere and I didn't want to do that-i have to change my review: ONE GUY went out of his way to help people. I went back yesterday for more material for my reno- that same guy from last week and ONLY THAT GUY- was going out of his way to help people. I was in flooring trying to find something. There were FIVE STAFF at the counter-NOT ONE OF THESE LAZY SODS OFFERED ASSISTANCE. I never found the flooring I was looking for and had to settle for something else but Jesus christ.. hire people who WANT to help customers. They were so disinterested I didn't want to suck it up and and them for help. They clearly didn't want to so screw them. 5 goddam staff guys. It was the same in all other departments.

This was my 1st visit to the Kent Contractors store as I only recently became aware of the fact it was open to the public. The store is very similar to all the other Kent stores except less products ie home products not directly linked to renovation or construction. That aside for those doing renovation they offer construction supplies in large volume packages. I was looking for a new door handle for my front door which I wanted to match with a smart deadbolt. The store had a full aisle of door sets but primarily limited to Wieser products which is a brand I have had issues with before. While I didn't find what I was looking for I will return to this store for many other products. For people who want check prices and suppliers it's great now that you can hit Kent, Home Depot and Canadian Tire all on Kelsey drive.

I have to say, every time I have gone to a Kent location, any staff member have always been so helpful. I admire the young employees for what they must be learning, and that I truly trust their advice; as well as all of the employees because not everyone can work with building supplies. I like Kent, loads of items in one spot. Often times better prices then Home Depot oddly enough, plus they're yard to purchase wood and other large items is convenient. But then I remembered Cooks Home Hardware, where i can speak with the owner directly, order it all delivered to my house the next day for a better price. Probably should have gone there first. They explained how it can create a real mess if the cover comes off but believe there can be a workaround such as putting the can in a plastic bag perhaps. I'm happy to say that we've been going back again and we really like the products some of the pricing and the staff have been really great lately. For the most part, staff were very helpful. My real problem with the store is around their pricing. As an example, they are selling a pallet of firewood for $139. The pallet is advertised as a 1/3 cord of wood. On top of that is a delivery fee of $50 which brings the cost to $189 plus tax. Two weeks ago I purchased a full cord of wood, cut, split and delivered for $220 taxes in. Do the math and the Kent product is grossly overpriced.

One of my favorite go to stores for various hardware and houseware items. I appreciate that it is close to home and ways has a grand selection of items to choose from. Staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. Never met a grumpy employee yet even when my request has had them hunting from one end of their large store to the other. Most recent helpful incident was our purchase of a snowblower that showed up online but the last one was just sold before we got there. Through a couple different employee's they were able to supply the exact snowblower through their sister store and delivered within 3 days. We truly appreciate the extra effort they put in for us.

I prefer to support local when I can, they are Irving owned and I'm not really an Irving fan but I could overlook that. However I prefer to research costs and availability of products before I undertake a project to have as good an idea as I can relating to cost and product options. Kent.ca website is sooo very awful in terms of searchability, sorting and researching projects that I now completely bypass them as an option. In this day and age it is hard to imagine a multimillion company being so far off the mark in website function and accuracy. There are literally thousands upon thousands of website developers out there these days but I think my 10 year old daughter could develop a better website. Your loss, I'm sure I'm not the only one frustrated by this.

I use to love going here for plants, until today when I seen the most sad looking ZZ plant and asked how much it was, I was going to rescue it...and the lady was clearly clueless as she said it was doing fine... And wanted full price. She obviously thinks branches broken off, half of the leaves turning yellow and the stem bent all the way over is what a healthy plant looks like???.. give me a break. She should have offered me a deal as I came all the way there for a ZZ and that's all they had left, clearly because nobody was going to buy a dying plant!! ????

Update February 1st 2021. The customer service has actually improved. I've dealt with this particular store quite a bit and I find the staff to be very friendly and helpful. They can get pretty busy but there's usually not much of a wait for help. They have a huge selection in a tastefully laid out store. it is becoming more overcrowded with merchandise than it used to be which makes it annoying getting around with carts.

I enjoy shopping here and find the staff usealy helpful, but I will have to shop elsewhere due to the no-pet policy. As a point I can not leave my companion dog in my car, so I will have to shop at pet-frendly stores such as Canadian tire on Torbay Rd. Hopefully the management will reconsider this policy

I was picking up plywood, went into the warehouse about 1/2 dozen employees just standing around. I waited then got out of my truck to give them my slip and got yelled at to get back in my truck or I wouldn't be served. I returned my slip and shipped elsewhere

The outdoor yard had a great selection and you can drive through to get what you need. You can even pay outside which makes the whole process much more convenient and timely.

Social distancing in place with security at the door. Most people wearing masks ... here is where I think the government should mandate the wearing of masks for the public visiting stores, so it's not up to the stores to enforce this rule themselves. Afterall, we do have stores here in Canada and particularly Newfoundland & Labrador that are run by businesses from other countries. Everyone was very helpful and polite and I was in and out in under 10 minutes with everything on my list.

Great employee knowledge. Reasonable prices on most items vs larger chain competitors. More geared for contractors but if you go in with an idea what your looking for the staff can assist you the rest of the way. Not a five star rating because lack of inventory on website. A fact that is addressed directly on the website as a way to keep costs down to the common customer. While this is somewhat inconvenient it is commendable that the company is up front to their customers about it.

Pretty much whatever you need when building a house or just doing a renovation for the kitchen or bathroom. Huge parking lot with free parking. Can usually find a staff person who can guide you to the correct isle for an item. I would recommend this place.

I have to give tremendous credit to the store manager. I did not have a good experience at this store. The millennials who work there should learn a little about customer service and how to do their jobs more efficiently. I was about to leave our very large order at the cashier after a wild goose chase for some items that we were going to purchase. However, the store manager stepped in, and calmly and professionally resolved the situation. The staff could learn a thing or two from him. Thank you, sir.
