The maker of the easels seems to have thought of just about everything for these outdoor easels and still keep the prices as low as possible compared to similar outdoor easels. I absolutely love using my CupEasel Superlite to paint in my watercolour sketchbooks, either at home or plein air. It's extremely well made and looks great. I appreciate its versatility - it easily fits on a camera tripod, on a tabletop or lap. Very light and easy to pack away for travel. The magnets on the top are very strong and hold my metal paint palette in place (which I switch up a lot) if I'm not using the included paint wells. Extremely pleased about my purchase and highly recommend it to any artist looking for a compact easel setup.

My husband purchased the Superlite Cupeasel for me as a gift. He saw me struggling to come up with a system for my watercolour painting. He saw this easel and immediately purchased it for me. It arrived fast and in perfect condition. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this product. I have used it in several different settings since I got it last week. I used it on flat surfaces like my desk, and I use it at night perfectly positioned on my lap while I watch painting lessons on YouTube. I like to paint while on the couch at night and this is the perfect solution for me. It will also easily fit into my backpack for plein aire painting. This product exceeds every expectation I had for it. Its exceptionally well made. It's beautiful to look at and nothing was left out of the design. The magnets are nice and strong. The glass pallette is wonderful for mixing watercolour on and it cleans up very easy. I'm not sure what I did without this easel. I personally am in love with it. If your on the fence about purchasing don't be, it's a well made product and well worth the money. One more thing I love about it, I'm supporting a Canadian Company. Love this so much!!!

I just received my 8 cup easel. It's amazing! Its just the right size for me, same size as my little laptop. The hinges are really sturdy and the whole thing is well built, well designed and super easy to use. The magnets are nice and strong, and the cups are held securely yet are easy to pop out due to the holes on the bottom. That's some real craftsmanship thank you!!!!! Can't wait to get painting!

Great product. It was exactly what I was looking for and it was an extra bonus that it was made on Van Isle. It smells a bit when you first get it because of the stain or paint that's used but it's worth it. I think I might add a gloss or wax to mine to really polish it up.

I really like my new Cupeasel! The small 9”x9” format fits my paint bag but gives me plenty of surface to mount an 11”x14” watercolor block to it. I’m still working out how to reduce my palette to 9 or 12 colors, but love the built-in mixing space. This easel is so well balanced that when I forgot my tripod attachment, I was still able to paint by just balancing the Cupeasel on top of my tripod.

The Cup Easel brings the term “grab’n go” to a new level. I use acrylic-gouache in my eight cup Cup Easel and some colors have stayed wet and usable for almost half a year! I use a small selection of short handle brushes in a small brush holder pouch/envelope, that fits right in the mixing area when the easel is closed. This allows me to always have that ready to go and takes up the space of a medium book in a travel bag, just add a cup for water and a few napkins and you’re set for the day. Highly recommend!

I am delighted with all aspects of my cup|Easel and with the service I received. I had no difficulty placing the order, had one question which was answered promptly, and was forewarned of delays that would occur in shipping as the package would cross from Canada into the U.S. I think the total shipping time to my east coast address was a bit over two weeks. The cup|Easel itself is beautifully made, simple, and exactly what I need. The box is lightweight and functions just as it should. It is sturdy, simple, and easy to use. I was a little afraid the hinge would not hold up to the pressure of a brush or pencil (I use the box both for painting and drawing and I can draw pretty vigorously) but it works just fine. I've used it on a tripod, on my lap, and on a table. Perfect on all three. It really is elegant. The back is perfectly flat--no sides-- with only two small ledges at the bottom which can hold a panel or pad. This means I can use a larger backboard if I want to. And because the hinge holds tension at any angle it's really easy to make any adjustment to get rid of glare. Although I don't use the cups at present they aren't in the way and I may decide to use them in future. I use the existing palette to lay out colors and then use a larger palette either on my lap or on a table to mix color. This is a great addition to my equipment and is now my go-to easel. Thank you!!

This easel addresses practically everything I was looking for in a plein air easel - solid sturdy construction, lightweight and compact so easy to carry or pack away in a backpack /tote/large purse, designed well to hold a canvas and transport a wet one without ruining it, smartly designed storage spaces and containers to hold paints, water and mediums within the easel, and ample room for mixing on the palette. I’m looking forward to see if Cup Easels will decide to design some type of arm attachment to hold a few paintbrushes to compliment this amazing easel!!

The watercolor plate is great. I replaced the original glass plate with this one, if the plate can come with the plastic pieces to hold the two side of the plate, it will be great. The one used for glass plate not fit the watercolor plate.

I bought the 8 cup easel for watercolour. Love it. I tape 8x10 watercolour paper directly on the easel and put my paint in the cups. However, you can also use larger sized paper taped to Coloplast And clipped to the board. The easel makes it easy for me to organize my workspace since I am constantly traveling between the house and the cottage. The system also appears to be well adapted to plein-air painting but I have not tried it. This company appears to be a small operation run by painting enthusiasts. Vendor is very conscientious and clearly wants to make sure the customer is satisfied. Very happy with my purchase.

Shipped in record time over the holidays plus pandemic delays. Appreciated the slim packaging with all recyclable components! The easel. The goods. The best little travel companion! (I’m not talking getting on a plane right now) but travel companion that is light enough to fit in my daily bag (purse) would happily sit in a tote bag, backpack or duffel without issue! It travels to the beach with ease. To the mountain. To the lake. To the river. To my backyard. To my bed. To the couch. To work. Parked on the side of the road. You can paint ANYWHERE you want! I purchased the super lite regular (right handed) it has a tempered glass tray and an additional watercolor mixing tray that sets right on top. I also selected a nine well and 12 well paint pan. I didn’t write my review right away because I wanted to see how long my paint would stay wet. I work with acrylics and they are notorious for drying out fast, or getting a skin within an hour - or less. My blobs are still fresh, I loaded it with paint the day I arrived and it’s still workable almost a month later! ???? .I will be back for the 8 cup easel in the next few months. Hoping to see a portable brush case in 2021 as well! Get it. Get em all! You’ll love it!
