Hired to paint exterior of a fairly simple home (BC Box) and 3 exterior doors. Overall a mediocre job done. They're some of the cheapest so you get what you pay for. They use good paint so hopefully it will at least last. Need quite a lot of very specific direction in order to get a passable job out of crews that are understaffed and overworked just trying to rush through a job and get onto the next one. We had quite a few significant issues (missing spots, lots of overspray) and clean-up that the crew had to spend an entire day dealing with. Painted our doors and ended up painting over debris and dirt... had to sand, prep and paint them again ourselves. Need it done cheap and willing to watch them a deal with a few issues? Then the value is there... Nice people to work with as well, our main guy was great. Seems like a company trying hard... tough business I guess?

Aidan, Scholars Edge Painting operator, canvased our neighborhood and I asked for an estimate. Within one day, he put together a detailed estimate for our cedar trim, a deck, a fence and a concrete wall. I told him that oil-based paint/stain was previously used on two of these surfaces and that paint/stain that would cover and adhere to these surfaces was needed. He consulted with his paint expert and proposed options for these conditions. He assured me that this work would be guaranteed with a three year warranty. Aidan is polite, energetic and professional, and his crew was on time each day and worked hard all day. I highly recommend Aidan and his Scholars Edge Painting Crew. Excellent job! Well done!

They painted our two fairly large decks in Calgary and did exactly what they promised: thorough scraping and cleaning, then two coats of high quality deck paint. He was very professional and thorough when explaining what he would do when he painted our stucco home. He provided a very details competitive quote and we went ahead with booking. After a delay due to unforeseen and urgent circumstances that happened to our first contact with Scholars Edge, the owner Jamie then personally came by our home to go over the work to be done and was able to arrange an experienced painter to take over the project. It may have been delayed by a few weeks but Rebecca and her colleague were great to work with and we love the finished product. Very professional, friendly and provided daily updates. My first review: So my review is based on the fact that I was given a start date and time for the Scholars Edge Painters to show up for the job. They are a no show, I phoned the PM and the company and have not had a response for 2.5hrs as to what is going on. So far my experience and trust in them is nil. Looks like I will have to find a professional paint crew. Second review and rating adjustment The owner did call me and let me know that some out of ordinary circumstances did occur. The employee I dealt with either quit or was let go, and all her appointments had to be rescheduled. When I called the office, it also happened to be a personal leave for their receptionist and there was no one else available to answer calls. Ok so I gave them the benefit of unforeseen circumstances and agreed to meet with Reese to go over the work order and reschedule. I met with him, no discount was offered for any of the previous inconveniences; but I agreed. He gave me a date, as to which I have proof of, as I sent my wife a text as soon as he walked out the door. Now he did say that the date was tentative and that it would need to be confirmed. So when I called him the day of, his response that no date was set. That there was no confirmation, as to which I responded “ So the tentative date which is today and you were suppose to call me prior to confirm the date. I am just curious when were you planning on calling me to “confirm” the date!” So I had to wait another 2 weeks, no discount offered. The owner asked me to update my review, so to oblige I will let people know what transpired. I will say that the painter and paint job was well done,and reasonably priced. I did remove the railings myself, as they wanted to simply paint around them, I didn’t want to risk getting paint on them.

Slow, messy, poor work quality, returned many times to fix mistakes.Terrible customer experience dealing with its contractor( Alpha) and district manager ( Milton). Issues were escalated to the president (Jamie) who quickly resolved painting issues.

I would never recommend this company as my experience with them was extremely unprofessional with terrible customer service. I contacted Scholars Edge to request an estimate for staining my exterior deck. After meeting with Ryder, a date was arranged for the work to be completed in one day. Prior to the appointment, I went to Sherwin Williams to pick a stain and it became obvious that more work was required to properly clean and then stain our deck. I contacted Ryder and he agreed with the Sherwin Williams employee but never suggested a solution so that our deck could be cleaned a day or two prior to being stained. I tried several times to contact Ryder and he did not respond. After 9 days of no communication from Ryder, I advised him that our deck staining appointment was cancelled and that I would be speaking to the head office of Scholars Edge. Ryder immediately responded to me and his main concern was that I not discuss the matter with head office. At the same time, I also advised the head office of the situation and, to date, they have not contacted me to try to rectify the situation or win my business back. This job would have led to future work adding up to thousands of dollars for the company. They just don't care. I will never use this company in the future and will never recommend them to anyone.

The price was good the service has been horrible. We used the Courtenay BC location and actually we are still using the Courtenay location because quite honestly I don't think they will ever be finished. The young man in charge came at the beginning of August and gave us an estimate to paint the outside of our house and we agreed to a start date of August 26. It is now September 15th and they are still not done, rain has started falling, equipment is left in the yard and at some points the young men the Boss hired were here working at night waiting for him to come and pick them up and drive them home. He never showed, we drove the young man home. The young men that he employed to do the painting are inexperienced but want to work and they are left on their own with no supervision and no guidance. Definitely not what we were promised and will not be hiring this company ever again nor recommending them to people.
