My experience using CertaPro painters is mixed. I felt that they followed-up quickly to offer a quote and brought in a consultant to help us pick the colors we liked and brought back the paint ID numbers to ensure everything was in order prior to the job beginning. They brought in cleaners at first to sand and clean the dirt around window frames and the peeling paint on our aluminum siding. When the job started was the first of the complications. The painters who showed up were uncertain of the color to be used on the cement steps, and at this point it had been almost 3-4 weeks since I picked them and couldn't remember the exact color so I had to clear this up with the main office but we eventually figured it out and all was resolved. They initially told me they'd be working until 3 every day and over the weekends. They did not work until 3 and they did not work on weekends. Often there was a mess left in my yard such as boxes and pop cans. They did not use painters tape so they got paint splatter on my doors, my deck, around the drains and on my power casings. I also found they did not give my steps a second coat of paint and there were obvious spots where no paint was filled. I took pictures and sent it to the company and they assured me that two coats were applied but I argued it wasn't and they sent someone, randomly a week later and it rained for two days about an hour after he finished applying the second coat of paint. Now my front steps look 100% worse than they were and at this point I replaced my railings and will finish the job myself as I don't have any faith that they will fix the steps without getting paint on my new railings. Overall, I feel they could have done better. The admin staff cared about doing a good job but I didn't feel that showed when the painting was done. Also, similar to another persons review, I believe they used a latex paint on the aluminum siding because my daughter left her bike leaned up against the side and it when she moved it an hour later the paint just peeled right off and I had to touch it up myself.

My Fiance hired CertaPro Painters in July 2014. We had a rep come to our home, provide us a quote, and answer any questions we may have had. He assured us that drop sheets would be used to protect our furniture and floors, and that the job would be very clean, professional, and not disruptive. This was great, as we are both very busy with work and travels, and do not have extra time to be going behind and cleaning up after other people. When the painters showed up,they had no drop sheets. Nothing was covered, they just moved things around. We assumed if they aren't using drop sheets, they must have a very good hand for painting. During their 3 days painting our home, they had many uncomfortable arguments, and also continued to talk about how badly they wanted to finish this job to move onto the next. This raised alarms but they assured us they were still taking their time to do a great job with our place. Approaching the last day, we noticed many areas that required touching up, we marked these areas with painters tape prior to leaving for work. This areas were ignored, and left. Once they were done and gone, and we began putting furniture back where it belonged we noticed paint on almost everything. It was splattered on the floors, the counters, the table. We scraped it off and cleaned the surfaces right away, and expressed our unhappiness to the manager of the company. She was annoyed we even had a complaint, and we feel didn't care about what we had to say,as long as she was paid. She said she would send someone out to look at the damages, but it had to be ASAP. Well, we were in Ontario and couldn't be home to let someone into the house, not to mention we'd already cleaned up the "damages". Over the last few months we've noticed many areas that we will now need to re-paint. Isn't the point of hiring professional painters so that you have peace mind and don't need to go behind them re-doing their work? We could have done a better job ourselves.

I would highly recommend CertaPro. We recently hired them to refinish our outdated honey oak kitchen cabinets and they did some hard-to-reach exterior staining for us. Sean who did the kitchen cabinets takes so much pride in his work and has a very high level of attention to detail. He was always checking in with me to ensure I was pleased and helped solve a tricky hinge issue we ran into. We now have a brand new kitchen at a very reasonable cost! The exterior crew headed up by Howie, did a great job getting to some very tricky peaks and making sure our weather-beaten cedar siding looks uniform and fresh. They were very pleasant to deal with, conscientious and went the extra mile to ensure we were happy with the end result. CertaPro owner Armel, was also great to deal with - quick to respond to emails, timely in scheduling our jobs and we found the overall pricing to be the most reasonable around. We'll be definitely calling CertaPro for any future interior or exterior painting needs.

We were mostly happy with the work done. A couple of exceptions however: None of the switch or plug plates were removed prior to painting. Not doing that causes issues trying to remove the plates in the future as the paint glues them to the wall, and if replacing with different shaped plates, the old paint shows through. Same thing for curtain rod supports - I had to remove and re-paint the wall because the new supports were smaller. The painters forgot to paint one floor to ceiling spot in the hallway between two door frames. I'll tape and paint that area myself.

We had 5 rooms painted. One was a last-minute add-on, and we have a high cathedral ceiling around cabinets and some spots that needed to be fixed and re-drywalled - not an easy job! Joseph and his team were quick, accurate and thorough. They did a fantastic job covering a dark colour with a light one. I chose CertaPro because of their great reviews and their professionalism when quoting the job. Unfortunately, they did not complete the work to my satisfaction. They arrived late and did not bring a ladder or required tools. They painted latex over oil-based paint throughout my house without properly preparing the surfaces. (i.e., The latex paint just peeled right off.) When they realized their error, they fixed part of the work, but not all of it. Upon completion of the work, there were paint splatters all over my house. I provided this feedback to CertaPro, who said they would have the local office follow-up with me to discuss my concerns. They never did. UPDATE: After posting the above review, CertaPro contacted me to discuss my concerns. They were apologetic and offered a discount on the service provided.

We recently hired Certa Pro Halifax to refinish our kitchen cabinets and complete some difficult staining on the outside of our house. The whole experience was great from start to finish. Armel, the owner, was very prompt and easy to deal with. All the workers were great to interact with and we even left the door unlocked so the kitchen crew could come and go when we were going to be away from the house.
