I'd give a rating of ZERO stars if I could. I was forced to use On Side by my condo corporation. Naomi at On Side handled my claim and she treated me like someone with no choice. The quote they provided was absolute garbage and getting clarification was a painful process. In the end I got half of the information that should be on a proper professional quote. On Side passed my job off to another contractor, who passed it off to a third contractor... a complete gong show. Save your time and money and AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Everyone at On Side took the utmost care in reassuring me throughout the whole process. They arrived at my door within 20 minutes of my first call to the adjuster and came in like a swat team. The empathy and professionalism exhibited by the leaders and workers put me completely at ease. Each phase of the work was completed with meticulous craftsmanship. My home is once again a sanctuary and I would not hesitate to recommend On Side. Very grateful for all of the genuine efforts, kindness, and courtesy provided.

Great company, staff and communication thus far. On Side has been working at my home after receiving water damage from a broken fridge line and has been great. I first received a call within an hour of speaking to my insurance company and a very personable Moe Balouch was out asap to get things going shortly afterward. Within a short time, two demolition workers (Denis Nosal and Sherwin Legaspi) pulled the wet flooring up and mitigated additional damage from mold etc. These two guys were great, very friendly and hard working. They went above and beyond to segregate the room and cover furniture from dust/mess. Not sure what happened with some other negative reviews but my experience so far is the polar opposite. I received water damage from a leaky toilet. My adjuster sent out On Side to check out the damages Richard S and Sherwin L. showed up and quickly and efficiently scoped out the damages, took samples and set up the humidifier. Richard made sure I knew what was going to happen next and even though they gave me some bad news I knew that they would take care of it and it would get fixed. Thanks again Richard and Sherrington.

Incredible people at On Side! I had a pipe burst & needed drywall and my floors replaced. My PM Sean had extremely clear, quick communication with me, I never wondered what was going on with my repairs. Everyone who came into my home to do the repairs were great - my partner & I both work from home & they were very respectful of our space. I couldn't be more happy with the work they did, the repairs are beautiful. From the communication to the wonderful jobs Warren and Thomas did & even the final walkthrough where Sean helped me put my furniture back, it was a great experience. I very highly recommend On Side.

We had to have work done as the result of a flood: tile setting, hardwood floor replacement, carpentry, painting. Overall the work was done in a professional and timely manner. We did have an issue with the work of the tile setters and asked to have the work redone by a different crew. This was done promptly and without question: the final result met our expectations.

ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDABLE Worst managed company I had the pleasure meeting while performing restoration work on my condo. Time line over 4 months which should have been done within a week. Project management and communication NON existing. Instead of experts, lowest and cheapest sub-contractors used in order to make a profit. Save your money and sanity while going direct. NK

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is the first review I have ever written about a company, which should speak volumes to the experience I am about to share. My unit flooded due to a unit above me flooding. Onside was the restoration company my condo building decided to contact, so it was completely out of my hands who was to complete the repair work. After moving back in, there were several major deficiencies to tend to. Not only that, but my unit was an absolute mess. The bathroom was disgusting and there was garbage everywhere. As I am familiar with the construction world, deficiencies are normal. However, what is abnormal is the sheer avoidance and dismissal from Onside’s behalf. I emailed several times, including photos, in order to have them come tend to these deficiencies. Their PM, Joel, and one of their trades finally came to do a walk through and continuously told me it was as good as it was going to get. I was told, quote: “it is like when you get your car repaired, it is never going to look very good anymore”. After 4 visits, they still did not properly tend to any of the repairs. They attempted to cover up the problems with more paint and drywall which just made the problems much worse. They provide very low quality trades. They FINALLY, after 4 months of communication attempts on my end agreed to come fix the work they had done poorly. I had to move out of my condo for 3 days, as I work from home, to stay in an Airbnb and am now being told that I could’ve worked around their repairs even though the entire ceiling was ripped out and poly covered every single belonging/piece of furniture in my apartment and I am to be responsible for covering the cost of my Airbnb. To say I am disappointed with Onside is a huge understatement. I think the biggest disappointment was making me feel I am uneducated in the construction process as I am a female.I have Onside many opportunities to resolve the issues I experienced and my unit STILL requires many deficiencies to be tended to.

Disgusted with the service from this company. I have never met the project manager and neither he nor his assistant have ever contacted me when I have complained. Was told the work would be completed last Friday or this Monday (30 july) it is not. The drywallers didn't have the common sense to cover anything and some bright spark decided to put the new floor in before the ceiling was done. The dishwasher was removed but not replaced, the back door doesn't close without a good shove, I am living in the bedroom together with all of the content from the spare bedroom living room and dining room and have been for weeks. I heard bad things about this company before but nothing prepared me for this. The contractors even had the nerve to tell me they had another job to go to and didn't have enough staff. Seriously considering legal advice. We will wait and see if anyone bothers getting back to me tomorrow. The initial flood happened mid April.

We were very satisfied with the work On Side completed for us after a water supply line failed and damaged the kitchen cabinet on the main floor and the ceiling of our completed basement. From the moment Anna Simpson arrived to make an estimate until the final details of the restoration were completed, we were impressed with the professionalism of their personnel, the skill and craftsmanship of tradesmen, and the thoroughness of the clean-up crews. Our concerns were listened to carefully carefully and responded to promptly; our property was treated respectfully, and the protocol of the coronavirus epidemic was strictly adhered to. During the day all messes were minimized and, after they finished up every night, cleaned up well. This was THE best experience we have had with home contractors over our 44 years of home ownership, in six houses, four cities and two provinces!

A very professional and caring team (as led by Naomi Biggar) who helped us out in an emergency situation regarding the basement flooding. From the immediate response through carpet removal/disposal, drying, monitoring, integrity checks on electrical/furnace/heater, and leading to complete asbestos abatement, the team's drive and efficiency to get things done quickly was very evident. They committed to a program and completed earlier than the schedule. I can easily reach them (calls or e-mails) for any information or coordination.

Our fridge leaked and destroyed our house August 4th 2020, we called insurance immediately and on side was sent the next day. They set up fans I believe on the 6th and we left on the 7th as the floors were not safe to walk on. We left to go out of town for two weeks on the 9th I explained there was a door pin and they could start. No one did. Finally by the end of my vacation still nothing started a week later the same. I finally received a phone call from Richard the project Cordinator asking me what has been done in our house! I SAID NOTHING! At this point I sent the project manager Naomi a message, Richard was then suppose to meet me at 9 am the following day and texted me 10 minutes before that he would be late (I had already packed my 3 month old baby up and started coming to the house). We got rid of Richard and Naomi and Justin took over, they have been good at answering my concerns which that star is only because of them. Nothing has been done on time it is oct 8 we came home yesterday and I still don’t have everything finished. (There has been a long list of issues in between) but as of right now they have broke my less then a year old bed frame, our front door lock/handle is broken, my chandelier hanger in my kitchen is broken, my walls have damage, the house was not cleaned properly, and the items they did put away were not in the proper spots I told them I would unpack the rest myself. This company still needs to finish and I don’t even want to let them in my house. They have ruined things I wanted to do with my baby because it was packed up and they have caused me into post partum depression and anxiety with the amount of stress they have put me through. This company does not deserve to be in business let alone go into anyone’s homes they have destroyed more then they have fixed and I’m heart broken to even be in my house. They also have no communication with contractors I new what was going on more then anyone else.

We were impressed with this company's dedication to getting the work completed during these difficult times and their coordination of the various workers required to complete this. restoration. On Side Restoration van driving erratically in Rocky Ridge/Royal Oak area at 5:25pm today. Van was going well over 80km/hr in 60km/hr residential area then turned onto 50 km/hr and pulled a U-turn while appearing to be going much faster than 50. I know this does not reflect the quality of service this company provides but I definitely do not want to see drivers like this in a family friendly neighborhood and would not use this company for this reason now. Many children and families are frequently crossing on these streets, I would hate to be the reason this contractor was in the neighborhood. Some companies will install GPS trackers in company vehicles to ensure compliance with road safety.

We had a huge water leak from our furnace that went unnoticed for several months Normally, I am the first to complain when I get bad service, but I can honestly say the On Side restoration job that was done was outstanding from the beginning to the end!! From the emergency crews immediately cleaning up the water damage to completing the restoration the On Side staff and vendors did an absolutely amazing job! The furnace replacement was done very professionally with no issues. The flooring company could not have been more accommodating and the floor looks amazing. The drywaller and painter were 10 out of 10 in ensuring the job was done to perfection. The cleaning crews did an amazing job in the rooms where water damage was restored where drywall dust existed and additionally did the adjoining rooms when the dust was carried to. Not to mention they came out three times to clean up as the dust built up. On Side put down floor protection to prevent the winter from being carried inside during restoration. On Side vendors were on time each day or immediately notified us of any delays (winter weather). This incident was very stressful to our family but to know we had the backing of both our insurance company and On Side made the process all the better. With no question, I would recommend On Side to friends and family! Our Kudos for a job well done and a huge Thank you to Justin, Anna and Vinita for their leadership!!

We had a great experience with On Side helping us through a less than ideal flooding situation. Naomi and Richard were timely, knowledgeable and communicated effectively every step of the way. All of the contractors/employees they used were extremely friendly and did a great job (*Jared)! Any concerns we had were addressed immediately and remedied. I just had BAD water damage to multiple levels of my house. My PM Victoria got back to me SUPER fast and had a team out to my place to take care of me within hours. Onside delayed a 1-day minor kitchen restoration to THREE FULL MONTHS. We were displaced for 3 full months with several Onside contractors "fixing" what the previous had left. Unfortunately, none of them could perform with a minimum level of competency and common sense (e.g., our furniture was not covered and was covered in dust and paint drops; simple paint lines were crooked; floorboards had highly visible gaps after being replaced; corners went from 90 degrees to everything but; damage to trims and gauges in paint... the list goes on). Full blown lack of transparency and respect for people's daily lives. There is zero doubt in my mind why they were the lowest bidder (yes, our repair situation was through insurance). We also had a petcam left on as we could not return - Onside contractors covered the camera on purpose, even after we called our Onside coordinator who also agreed with us that they should not be doing that. We gave up after calling twice about this. Unfortunately we have lost so many weeks of our lives to what should have been a day job, and cannot in good faith recommend Onside to anybody else.

Horrible communication, unresponsive to concerns of workmanship. Was told worst case could take three months took 5 months for work to get done. Still can’t get any answers about our contents. Never cleaned up job site or finished the final finishing touches. Contractor brought young kids with him to work. After losing all confidence with this company had to finish the job ourselves. Project manager came to site once in the beginning never came again. Lied about dates things were going to get done by. Would never hire this company again. For anything!!!

We had our basement flooded in the beginning of September. Onside were very quick to do the job in the beginning. After that it really went downhill from that. We are no further forward & still fighting to see our list of our damaged items. We lost a lot of our furniture in this flood, beds, mattresses etc!!!! My kids have been out there room since then. The girl Anna who was supposedly in charge I have seen her twice in 7 months. I found her very unprofessional and very unpleasant, unhelpful in regards on her helping us. We are still fighting this matter and getting really tired going back and forth with emails. I just want my basement back and back to normality.

This is the worst company ever ! A year ago a water pipe burst and caused much damage to my home. My insurance company hired On Side Restoration. They told me everything would be fixed in 2 months ... Well, a year later work still has to be completed. The quality of the craftsmanship was absolutely awful. Lots had to be redone more than once. There is barely any communication with the project and site manager. I am constantly being told that they are looking into it while nothing has been done in well over a month. There is no follow through to my inquiries and weeks go by between workers showing up. The workers lost and broke many household items during the restoration. Amongst other things, my garden was used as a dumping zone for garbage materials. My pets had to be kennelled for over 6 weeks during some of the work and I am still waiting for payment. I am extremely disappointed and very anxious for the work to be finally completed as this project is over 10 months overdue ! I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

We sustained a dishwasher leak that ruined 25% of our hardwood floor on the main level. Insurer was quick to dispatch Bradley Ryan from OnSide. He's a very professional individual, taking the time to explain the nature of the work that had to be done and the options at our disposal. He arranged for the flooring company to provide estimates on a couple of those options, and we could not be happier with the finished product. Bradley also made a couple of follow-up calls after the project started to ensure everything was progressing as planned. Thank you, Total Image Interiors (Jim and team) and Bradley. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Richard, the project supvr. While he gave us some good ideas unrelated to the restoration work, his communication skills during the work itself were not impressive. He did not provide accurate information to the furniture movers and plumbing trades, with the result that the plumbers needed to be dispatched on another day, as the movers had not completed their work. Then, after the restoration was complete, our pantry door needed some trimming, as it was rubbing against the new floor (not a big deal, as the repair was minor). However Richard made a commitment to have the tradesperson at our house at 08:30 the next day, but could not honour it, as I received a call from him at 08:31 on the scheduled day that his worker had elected to go finish another job first. I don't think it was the worker's fault, as he was unaware of the schedule sequence. He advised us that he had two jobs on his docket that day, but was unaware which had to be done first. Guess we had a 50% chance that he'd come to ur place first...Richard could have prevented this by being clear in his instructions to the worker. The tradespeople themselves, from the movers to the cleaners, were top-notch.

Horrible communication, customer service, and ownership of their own work. The project manager was unwilling to properly communicate with me, coordinate contractors, and get the job done in a timely manner. The only way to eventually get the project done was keep calling onside and repeatedly update them on what was still to be done.

Quality was good! giving one less star from 5 as the communication was a bit lacking and it took over 3 weeks from time of incident to complete a very small restoration. But I have no one to compare that too so perhaps that's a reasonable time frame? Overall I'm a happy customer :)

We found our project coordinator to be responsive and informative. Most of the subcontractors and the crew from Onside were professional and courteous. We had minor problems with some communications between crews and the project plan that if we were not home would have resulted in a concern (particularly with moving content around), but the work itself was well done. We have our basement back after 6 months and it was well worth it!

I have not heard of On Side until an unfortunate accident happened in my home. The damage was unimaginable that I went into distress. It was a nightmare! As soon as I reported this to my insurance company, On Site immediately came into the picture. Restoration crew came, then the renovation group. The many staff sent to work in my home are specialized in their areas, they are good, polite, respectful. Work in my home was done systematically one at a time under the capable leadership of Anna Simpson. But one outstanding worker I should mention is Dillon Olson. This guy knows what he’s doing, I am quite pleased with his work, he is particular about safety and cleanliness, a pleasant and happy person. I say thumbs up ???? to On Site and it’s employees

In January I had a leak from my kitchen faucet, and water went under my sink and down to the basement. On Side Restoration was hired to do the repairs. On Side did an amazing job from basement repairing ceiling and painting the walls. Eugene did amazing work and was fast, very neat and very professional. Then my main floor kitchen sink and cabinet was taken out and replaced. Awesome job, very neat. My floor on main level was redone...had to take out and install new floor. This job was so professionally done, they taped up all my cupboards and windows to keep dust away. They hired movers to take my furniture away so they could work without interruption. The guy doing the floor was amazing, he removed the old floor and reinstalled the new one. My floor looks amazing...so happy. Then the movers moved back my furniture. From beginning to end the whole process was great! Richard the project manager for seeing everything done was very pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend On Side Restoration as I did not have anything go wrong with my renovation. If I could rate lower that one star I would. On side was recommended by Insurance company after failed attempt by another restoration company to do work on insurance claim. Project Manager provided no support and was unprofessional. Escalation to Branch Manager and VP did not work as they did not respond or acknowledge issues. Poor work, no support but On Side still gets paid by insurance companies - unethical from my perspective.

I had Onside do a lot of work on my house after I had a large leak through my skylight. Doug Chase the manager in charge was so easy to work with. He was easy to talk to and he also always returned my calls. He was always on time or early, he knows the business inside out. He has great connections and he always made sure the work was complete and done properly. He always explained things before the job was done so you knew what was to be done and by a certain time. I highly recommend him.

Beware to this company, they are so fast to collect to your ibsurance but in terms of contacting them in regards to your case they are so bad. They don’t answer my emails or calls from the person in-charge. I suggest if yuu have any means to get another restoration company please do it but not this company.

Run fast, run far. The most incompetent, insensitive company I have ever dealt with. The barbie doll Project Manager presents you with her card, her name is followed by a number of designations - I researched her qualifications and they represent 2 weeks of pass/fail or attendance courses. Regardless, that is the last you will see or hear from her, unless it for for an upsell for her contractors related to your reconstruction. They had a dream project with 4 months to complete two or three weeks worth of repairs. When I returned they had completed about 3 days worth of work. Worse than that, most of the work done needs to be redone. I fired them. Apparently they could care less, and so should you.

Back in 2012 OnSide was hired by my insurance company to fix my roof (I had contacted insurance because of pounding hail and there was leaking in my kitchen). According to them they were not hired to fix leaking roof just to replace shinges. Sorry but I did not know there was a difference. I now have a leaking roof IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT AS BEFORE. Insurance company will not accept responsibility nor will On Side. They slapped on new shingles in 2012 (of inferior qualiy) to cover up the problem without fixing it. And they got almost 12K from insurance. My premiums went sky high so I would have been further ahead by getting a reputable company to fix the problem and not put in a claim. As I said before "stay away from this company".

We had an unfortunate incident in our condo unit, so we called On Side and had Naomi Biggar attend as the project manager. She arrived super quickly and was so friendly and reassuring that everything was going to be okay. Naomi walked us through the process, so we knew what to expect, and ensured our condo was put back to pre-loss condition in just a number of weeks. Any time we had any questions or concerns, we could call her directly to speak with her and she always answered our calls, or called us back right away. If we ever run into a situation again, where we need an emergency contractor, we'll be sure to call Naomi directly to help us out. Thanks so much again, Naomi!

Onside Restoration is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with for anything ever. I would never recommend having them do any type of work. It’s been over 5 months and my 1 bedroom condo is still not remediated from a burst pipe. It took them 5 months to patch some drywall, only to have it look like a 5 year-old did the work. The quality of the work is terrible. It has been a complete waste of my time. Zero project management skills, and zero ability to get work done to an even average quality level. Choose another company. Do not let them anywhere near your project.

We used them as part of an insurance claim, and it was a train wreck from the start. The two people we dealt with are Shane Sitter and Jesse Dimond. At first they are nice and responsive until you hire them to do the work, and that's when it goes downhill. Good luck getting any response from any of them. They don't have the decency to answer calls or emails. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Cam Hoibert and Joel Rozic were the project managers. Both great at their job, they were professional, expedient and empathetic. On Side did a great job of packing up my home and taking care of the scheduling of sub contractors and moving my possessions back in. My only complaint is the quality of the subcontractors was not as high as I expected. Overall my experience was 8/10.

Don’t be fooled by the comforting and competent look and feel of their website or even by their 3+ star Google review rating. This company is a corporation motivated by profit from insurance claims (which is a major conflict of interest). They have a super high employee turn-over rate and a difficult time retaining skilled people let alone health and safety professionals. They were recommended by an insurance company for our restoration project and sadly the team Onside sent were lacking motivation, common sense and customer service skills. On top of all this in this era of equality and social justice, they tried to coerce us and treat us badly simply because of who we are. I would recommend hiring a smaller, locally focused restoration company with a higher (real) review rating for your project and not onside. I will be following up with the BBB, City of Calgary, WCB and multiple other resources for complaints as a result of all this. Instead of passing along an email to a branch or corporate manager I would just suggest that you have an entire review of your health, safety and employee conduct policies and training internally and by a third party in preparation for a review by city, provincial and potentially national health, safety and conduct review boards.

Absolutely terrible service and staff. I understand that sometimes the demand for emergency restoration can be high, but what I cannot understand is why this company allows their staff to berate the clients. The initial clean up crew was younger guys who weren't sure how to proceed but did as much as they could. Then I was left in a half torn down home for two weeks and no one could return my call. Eventually they settled on assigning this project to an inexperienced and rude lady named Anna. Anna showed up unannounced while I was waiting for my insurance adjuster so I let her in anyway. She began poking around where there was no damage without my permission. As someone who doesn't deal with home restoration on a daily basis, I naturally had some simple questions to ask. What timeline are we looking at for estimate? Realistically, when can I use my home again? What next steps do we need to follow up on? After THREE weeks, my insurance adjuster called and said she still hasn't heard from the restoration company so I gave Anna a call. Anna's voicemail directed me to a colleague of hers who I explained what I was looking for. Two hours later, Anna calls back and yells at me for calling her coworker. She also says "how do I explain this in a way you will understand?!" Uhmmmmm you haven't explained anything that's why I'm asking! She told me to go **** myself and never to call her coworker (then maybe don't put her # on your vm?) while I couldn't even get a word in. I left even more confused and I had no recourse as my insurance claim was dependant on HER providing a quote which she seems to be too busy to do. Anyway, don't use these guys. They're awful. Find a reputable contractor who can help inform you of your options.

On Side was responsible for a restoration of my apartment bathroom (I am renting) following asbestos remediation. It was (supposed to be) a simple drywall and tile job. The work took three months to complete, and the quality of work was barely adequate, if not laughable. The craftsmanship was appalling; they seemed to be cutting drywall with their teeth, measuring incorrectly, and then sloppily slathering on drywall mud to patch mistakes. They damaged several items including the bathroom sink and mirror. They did not isolate the work area so there was drywall dust through my whole apartment (a particular concern due to the asbestos). Workers left screws and broken glass on the floor, which i discovered by accidentally stepping on. Upon completion, i had to scrape crusted drywall mud off my bathtub as they did not cover it while working. The finished walls are bulging and uneven. There was zero communication between myself, the property managers and my landlord unless they were harassed. The tradespeople would show up for work only periodically and without notice. The coordination of trades was inefficient and until it was done, I had no idea when they expected to complete (the actual completion date was two months behind the estimate). Extremely frustrating experience which left me and my landlord fuming.

I would not hesitate to recommend On-side. We had a big basement water leak with extensive damage. We were provided with almost immediate emergency service and advice. The entire project from beginning to end was handled very professionally. We had a significant deadline - the project had to be completed to accommodate guests for a family wedding! The project was treated as high priority and completed in about six weeks, which I think was asking a lot. Shout out to the project manager Travis from On Side, and the subcontractor Mike from MLD Painting, Decorating and Construction, who did an excellent job.

Credit to Richard, project manager from On Side for being reachable and communicative over the course of the renovation. Original review: DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR INSURANCE CLAIM Our condo management company decided to use On Side restoration for the insurance claim to fix several units affected by a burst pipe during last winter where my 1 bedroom suite was affected. They were quick to deploy their staff for damage control and assessing damages at first. Everything changed when once they were hired for the project. Restoration project started on March 30th and initally I was told by On Side that it would be done within 2 weeks. Before mid April I was told they needed more time so another 2 weeks, and then another 2 weeks. Now 2 months have passed and entering the 3rd month, the unit is still not done because On side only send people to work 45 minutes or so per week. They practically did not work on anything in my unit for 2-3 weeks at a time. I have heard other unit owners affected being in similar situation. Delay is something understandable sometimes given the circumstances. From 2 weeks to 2 months and still not finish indicated that this company is either incompetent to establish/follow plans, or outright dishonest as they never intented to follow through with the promised timeline. Judging from all the happy reviews within last few weeks here, it seems that once On Side restoration got the insurance company to choose them, they prioritize other projects and don't care because they already got the insurance money. If you are an individual owner hiring them, you might be okay as they will leave other "non essential" projects hanging to work on your house. If you ever see On side restoration became your condo's chosen company for insurance claim, be sure to kick and scream hard, otherwise you might be at risk of being stuck with them like us.

This place is a joke. I was flooded January 10th, 2018, and the work is just being done. The person in charge told my leasing agent that they had been in contact with me during the whole process, that they had called me and spoke to me numerous times. I am still waiting for my FIRST phone call, and the work is being completed today......such bull. Not impressed at all with the lack of communication or the lies to not only me, but the leasing company as well. Very unprofessional, and my first call, will not be to this company.
