This is the second time that I have purchased prescription glasses here. I walked in and Helena recognized me immediately from a couple of years ago. When I walked in the was the quality and selection was amazing. I had Ira come help me and was so suprised by the quality of service. She handled my order with professionalisms and was on point with every detail. I was in a bind with getting my lenses on time as I was in a rush and she made sure I got my lenses as fast as possible. They also re-fit my old frames, so I felt like was walking away with another new pair of glasses! Plus they have fabulous seating for patient partners, with wives who like to try on everything before making a decision. Things were looking bleak but the relentless efforts and creative genius of their clerk Irina saved the day. She called me the next day to say they had found an 'appropriate pair' temples to match the outlandish frame. I was blown away by the level of service and dedication to helping me at no extra charge. I generally put off shopping for glasses as it has always been pretty painful - many hours, many stores, hard to see what I'm looking at, and I have a smaller face so the frames are limited. Imagine my delight this year happening into Spectus eyewear and having David come to help me. I have been dealing with Spectus Eyewear for years and have always had a buying experience that exceeded my expectations. All the staff thoroughly listen to your questions and concerns, then offer a solution to your needs. Irina, Helena and David are the opticians I have interacted with over the past couple of years. The frames offered are stylish and extremely well made from manufacturers from around the world. Some chain stores may attempt to sell you something that doesn't fit properly or is not flattering to your face. Spectus has always offered frames that look great and fit perfectly. They have the equipment on site to ensure the prescriptions are precisely to your needs. Complimentary follow up service is always friendly and courteous when replacing nose pads, making adjustments and even a deep cleaning with an ultrasonic machine.

I had heard lots of good things about this store, mostly in regards to the selection of unique frames. I was quite excited to go in and try some on. I walked into the store and was not disappointed with the selection. Unfortunately that is the only thing I was not disappointed with. After asking for frames different in style from the ones I was currently wearing, and subsequently being provided over a half a dozen frames similar to my own (frustrating to the say the least), I was finally provided some frames that were in-line with what I had asked for. I was finally narrowing in on a pair. All I wanted to do was take a picture of myself in the frames to share with my significant other. That's where my experience went sideways. No pictures allowed! Not even ones taken by the store?! My wife and I are busy professionals, with young children and it is next to impossible to find time to go out together and shop. Her opinion is valuable to me, especially since she will have to look at me in these frames over the course of the next year or two. Not being able to share in this way and gain a second opinion that is not a sales person is essential to the purchase process especially for something as defining in looks and expensive in price as these glasses. It was a tremendous waste of my time and effort, and a great disappointment. I am not sure what their policy is intended to prevent, but if it is comparison or cross border shopping it has only served to encourage me. It is just as easy to note the model number and brand of a frame you like and go elsewhere, ideally somewhere where customer needs are considered. NO PHOTO REQUIRED!

Last month I once again sat down with the staff at spectus to discuss my visual needs. I'm a surgeon and a flyfisherman/fly-tier so my visual demands are high. I needed a pair of specs for working at the computer, a pair that would allow me to sit up straight and far enough from the screen to stop neck and shoulder strain that develop when keyboarding at the usual "working distance. Irina worked to design a lense that has a working distance of 62 cms. She then paired it with a great frame. I am immensely satisfied with the outcome. I have numerous pairs of glasses, all with specific purposes, from general readers and bi-focals to polarized fishing glasses. I love what Spectus has done for me. Ben G

I just got back from spectus eyewear and they always have the best service. I have had glasses ever since I was 6 and in the past few years I’ve started wearing contacts for sports and just casual everyday wear. Usually I’ve had to get the 2 week contact lenses because I have an astigmatism but because I went to talk to the staff at spectus they recommended I try the 1-day Acuvue Oasys astigmatism contacts and they are so much better! They are more comfterable and healthy for my eyes and if I had ordered them online I would’ve never known about them. Spectus has an amazing selection of the best glasses too, I always get my glasses from them. I’ve told lots of my friends about spectus and they love it there too. I’m so thankful and highly recommend spectus to everyone.

Wonderful eyeglass store. The people here are friendly and supportive and their collection of frames is beautifully curated. I have bought two complete pairs of glasses (frames and lenses here) and have also had the lenses in one of my frames replaced. The work is always done with care and the turn around times are also impressive. I get SO many compliments on my frames and my newest lenses are transition lenses, which I have found to be a gamechanger for my eyes. I have also had my eyes examined here twice and have found the optometrists to be caring and responsive. The frames here aren't necessarily always budget friendly, but they are good quality and stunning. Consider it an investment you won't regret. I live in Burnaby, but I happily trek out to Kitsilano to visit Spectus anytime I need anything to do with eyewear (which, thankfully isn't that often because the glasses I have purchased there are made to last!) :)

First and probably the last time I come here. I don't know if it's a "Vancouver thing" but I feel like people charge you for every single thing here (compare to other provinces.) Every optometrist / eyewear shop I went to in Montreal or even some other country I've been to before (even in Monaco!) never charged me for a frame adjustment. I guess it's not a big deal but it doesn't make me want to extend my customer journey with them for further transactions. If it's the way you want to build long term and loyal customers, fine, but it doesn't give me any good vibes.

I purchased prescription glasses from Spectus eyewear (Lindberg Frame + Shamir Lenses) a couple of weeks ago. Although these were the first glasses I bought from then, I have visited the store several times and I have always felt welcome there. When I decide to buy something, I take my time to do my research and shop around. After visiting a number of optical stores, I was convinced that at Spectus I can get exactly what I am looking for. I would like to specifically mention Irina M. and thank for the excellent customer experience she provided to me. She was polite, always professional in her communication with me and very knowledgeable about frames and various types of lenses. She is detail-oriented, too, which is very important when you are considering such an important purchase. My husband is a long time customer of this store. Recently I went there with my new prescription for a pair of Lindbergs. There was a teenager (a sales girl called Irna or something), playing on her facebook. Her attitude was unwelcoming and she was answering my questions as if I am wasting her time. I asked for discount on Lindbergs. Implying that I am lying, she said: we never give discount on Lindbergs. I said but David - another guy working there - told me that he would. The girl said: oh really! Maybe that's why he got fired. Frustrated by her rude attitude, I bought my glasses online and I have problems with them now! Good store, terrible employee choice!

With expertise in picking styles (and honesty I’m telling me when things don’t look great, no matter how expensive), doing eye tests and maintenance, these people are excellent! Spectus is very invested in making sure you get exactly what you want. On occasion I have had to have major adjustments made and they happily oblige all of my questions and needs. Blatantly lie for a sale. I would give zero stars if I could. I was helped by the brown girl wearing the blue dress in the picture. We were at the polarised display and I tried on some sunglasses. While wearing the glasses and looking at my phone vertically the screen was solid black. This is what polarised glasses do, cut bright light. The brown girl said that was not possible. I laughed, told her to try the glasses on and look at my phone. She blatantly lied and said everything was clear on the phone. We tried again, then again with another pair, holding the phone vertically the phone time. Lie, lie, lie. So while she as wearing the glasses I asked her what where the apps I had on the screen.......silence......then more silence then she left to grab the manager. Manager tires on the glasses, looks at my phone and says "yes your phone is completely black". Girl, shame. This was the first week in Sept. 2017. I'm a real customer. I'm not the competition. Above are the convenient excuses store owners use when replying to truthful reviews.

Used to be good but had a terrible experience. Came back here because my original purchase was here and i had two frames for new lenses based on a new prescription. I ordered both but was cut short by the sales agent who as soon as i paid my deposit went to help somebody else and told me she would send the invoice. The next day i received the invoice and noticed i misunderstood the price of the lenses for the sunglasses and requested they cancel this part of the order which they did given that it hadn’t been sent to the manufacturer. Then i asked for an updated invoice so i wouldn’t be charged the full amount when i returned for the one set of glasses. It took several days and a follow up call to receive this. When i did i noticed the order had changed to getting a ‘coating’ on my lenses. I did not ask for this and it was not on the original invoice. I asked for non-coated but told that the order had already been placed. I was led to believe the coating was not visible but it has a GREEN TINT! I had an appointment to bring in my frames and have updated. We scheduled it days in advance. I arrived EARLY but was told they could not finish today and i would have to return tomorrow. I live across town so that would be an extra trip and i protested. Finally they agreed (or you could say honour led their original agreement) but it would take more than an hour. That was fine with me until i left the shop and saw a sandwich board sign that promised new glasses in less time. At the end they updated the nose pads but not the silicon pads on the frames by the ear which were worn. The previous owners did this for FREE even when i just popped in the store browsing. So if you went here in the past and are a loyal customer think again before returning- it’s changed for the worse.

Don't waste your time with this place, you'll be ripped off and disappointed with their customer service. I've got 2 gripes with this place: 1. Their prices are absolutely insane: I got quoted over $500 for a set of prescription polarized lenses, which I can get for $150 at Optical Outlet, which is a block away! 2. Their customer service is awful: to start, I asked if they had any current discounts or sales on their frames because they seemed a bit pricey -- the response: the employee laughed at me... maybe I shouldn't be surprised, the employee's attitude was as stuck up as the prices. Secondly, I asked if I could get the model number of the sunglasses I was interested in and I was told that they "don't give out model numbers". Now naturally, since I was holding the glasses in my hands and looking at the model number, I asked "What if I just write the model number down myself?". Their response: "Well good for you." While it was an irritating experience, I'm glad, as now I know I don't need to pay their price (nearly $800) for the sunglasses I want, but $320 for the exact same pair at the convenience of just a block down away.

I own a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses which I did not buy at Spectus Eyewear. Anyway a screw holding one of the arms fell out and I needed a new one. Shadi, one of the saleswomen, at the store found a replacement screw and with infinite patience fixed my glasses. I was not charged and was impressed with the customer service.
