I have been buying eye wear from this location for over 20 years. Maninder has the knack of picking out the perfect frames every time for me and my family of five. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are affordable. I highly recommend Hakim to those looking for something new.

I had worst experience with this store. Real waste of money. $350 what I paid is garbage now. I ordered for glasses when I went to pick my glasses, the frame was very lose and falling off when I bend down. I asked the person to fix it. He said he couldn't do much and frame might break. I asked him what is the point in getting this glasses, the store person replied this is the frame I ordered. And he doesn't want to listen to my problem. I even told him I am not satisfied with this and he didn't even listen to that too. I DON'T SUGGEST anyone to this store.

I have been purchasing glasses and contact lenses here for more than ten years. I always receive the best service from Maninder. She has great taste in picking the right frames to fit a face and is very patient and helpful. Ordering new contacts is easy and fast and you get a call back when they come in. I like how they're open till 7:00 so I have time to go after work. The optometrist next door in the same building is great too. When I had an issue with the lenses of my new glasses purchased last year, they were adjusted straight away.

I thought after reading the reviews this would be a wonderful place to get my glasses this time, nothing wrong with the last place this is just closer. Boy was I wrong. When I walked it I wasn't greeted at all he just kinda stood there and stared at me. After looking at the sunglasses and finding a pair I loved (approx. 10 min) he tells me those are not for prescription. None of the frames had prices on them. I asked if they have any deals on he told me 75% off all frames if you get 3. I always get 3 and I had a budget of 350-400$ is what I usually spend for 3. After about an hour or so I finally found 3 pairs I loved as asked if he could get me a quote. He rambled some thing I couldn't understand about getting thinner lenses and he could quote 2 different thinner ones or something like that. I stepped out for a moment and came back in he had 2 prices wrote on a paper $741.00 and $871. That is crazy I asked for a break down he said these are the prices I asked if he included the 75% off each frame he said yes. I told him that's that is out of my budget and what I had been expecting to spend to get 3 pairs . he said maybe you can just get one or maybe 2 than . None of the frames I picked here name brand they were all hakim brand I had not even got to ask about anti starch and anti glare coatings. The service was really bad the price was crazy high I don't recommend going here. I don't need someone breathing down my neck when I try on a bunch of glasses but it is nice to be greeted when you come in and it would be very nice to have a quote with a price break down on it not just a scrap of paper with 2 numbers on it. I did got else where and get 3 pairs ( one sun glasses 2 reg pairs ) 3 with anti scratch 2 with anti glare for just under $400 and 2 were name brand

Ali took very good care of us. My child was thrilled to find a pair of identical frames to replace their beloved broken ones.I was very impressed with the large selection of frames. Always hating glasses to the point of getting corrective laser surgery, I am now getting to the age where a pair of glasses could be helpful. I was very surprised to find many styles to try on. Ali was great working with me when I made an unusual selection. I chose a pair of sunglasses from the wall loving the frames but wanted them made as regular prescription glasses. Ali did not hesitate to help me out. We are very happy... my kid got exactly what they wanted and I got the most awesome glasses. I fully recommend this Hakim Optical!!

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! CHEAP QUALITY WILL HURT YOUR EYES! YOU WILL REGRET! The glasses turn yellow within 3 months of purchase. This is due to sub-standard quality of lenses sold by Hakim across all stores. Look at the picture, the one above are purchased from Hakim and the one below are 3 years old. I checked with an optometrist and he advised me to avoid these lenses at all costs or it will end up damaging my eyes very soon. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY! Your whole world will start looking yellow. They will give you promotions like 50% of the frame and lenses, offer customer service above and beyond and all they they give you is really bad quality lenses. The customer service suddenly turns rude if you point the flaws on their lenses, which they are very well aware of. On showing this to the store, they say they will check with their lab in Toronto. The funny thing is I get a call in 15 mins telling me it is normal and happens with all glasses. I have been wearing spectacles for the last 15 years and this is absolutely abnormal. A simple google search will tell you that lenses do not turn yellow within 3 months, and if they do, you are risking your vision. Not only will you lose your money which could be off your employer insurance, it will leave you cheated and damaged eyes. Spend a $100 more and get a good pair from reliable stores, nothing happens to a good pair of spectacles for years if you take good care of them.

Very kind and professional! I had my old glasses repaired for free while I was looking at a new pair for my updated prescription. When the glasses arrived, they helped modify them to fit my face better, and encouraged us to return in the next week if they needed more adjustments.

Just picked up my new glasses here. I've been buying my glasses here for years. I always get great service and quality frames and lenses. Mr. Ali and sorry, I don't know his name, but a younger associate helped me pick out just the right frames. I'm always a bit intimidated by how many different shapes, colours and styles they have that I appreciate the personal service when they help me. A few years ago I was in a real bind because I broke the arm off one of my glasses and they really helped me out to get them fixed fast at a very reasonable price. That was super helpful especially given that my frames had be discontinued long before I broke them.

Ali at Hakim Optical Waterloo was incredibly helpful. Prior to visiting him, everything possible had gone wrong with my previous glasses purchase -- an incorrect prescription from the eye doctor, damage to frames and lenses, and lenses that were placed incorrectly within the frames. One by one, Ali worked through all the issues to make sure that I had glasses that fit well and worked well for my eyes. I've purchased several frames from Ali now -- and I won't go anywhere else! A lovely gentleman greeted me at the door and promptly helped me fix my glasses with no charge. He was also helpful in informing me about my prescription. A great store as well, with excellent selection including designer brands like Guess and Versace for example. Highly recommend!

We came in looking for glasses for husband and were being indecisive. The store manager Ali suggested we take pictures of him with different glasses on - we quickly decided what we wanted. He seamlessly made sure our insurance could pay for the glasses. It was also a long weekend, and we wanted them done in time for a trip. Ali said he would do his best to get them done - and delivered on his promise! We also got a nice case for the glasses, and a cleaning liquid. Vey smooth and please experience - thank you very much Ali!

I am happy to say I am never coming back here! My goodness, the staff were sketchy and were throwing prices around randomly. E.g. a pair of frames I wanted initially cost 390, I asked what it would be after insurance and they said 395? I questioned it and they "double checked" and suddenly it was 360. After the anti-fatigue lenses, they marked it up to 500!! No way, Jose. I got the name-brand pair from another place for 235 dollars :) after my insurance covered 150. Not 30. Please stop scamming your customers!

They don’t answer their phone during open business hours. They don’t have any voicemail system. The ordinary glasses I ordered 2.5 weeks ago seem to have not arrived. Although I can’t check on them because they don’t answer their phone. It seems you can get much better service elsewhere. I would not recommend them.

It's been almost 2 weeks since I ordered my glasses the lab in Toronto broke my frame for my glasses so now I have to wait till the middle of next week to receive them. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL

Bought 2 pairs of glasses at the Waterloo store on Weber Street. The gentleman was helpful in picking out glasses and afterwards I picked up the glasses the one nose clip came off and couldn't get the right screw to fix it so he ordered new frames and got them back the next day. Very nice guy to do business with! :)

Got a great deal on my glasses. Got 2 pairs for a good price and lady was very helpful and friendly. I have used this store for glasses a number of times and always had a good experience. and having an onsite optometrist is handy as well. He is not in that office 5 days a week but you can book your appointment and run straight into store and find your glasses.

Went to get new lenses for my favourite frames. All staff were unfriendly and apparently does not know how to say hi or greet properly. When they asked me to sign something saying they weren't responsible if they broke my frames I said that's the stupidest thing I've heard and walked out. If the staff had been friendly I probably would have signed it. But they seemed like a-holes and a got a sense they would purposely break my frames to try to sell me new ones. Would not recommend to anyone unless you personally know them, perhaps they would be friendlier to you.

I was in this store last week to buy glasses. An old lady with glasses wearing flip flops which is very cheap looking to wear, asked if she can help me. I explained that I was just browsing the frame selection. She kept pushing for myself to give her my prescription which was very rude and made me very uncomfortable . I left and went elsewhere to shop. This woman is very rude and unprofessional. I would not buy from her or recommend her to my family or friends because of her being rude and unprofessional. I would not even give her 1 star!

I will always come back here to purchase glasses. The store is open late to accommodate people that work during the day, and the staff are always friendly when you come in the store. I have always been assisted to insure I pick frames and lenses that suit my uses and my budget. Hakim Optical frames come with a one year warranty and free lifetime adjustments and maintenance. On top of this the glasses are always ready much faster than when I have purchased from my optometrist. I would highly recommend Hakim!

Brought in a pair of Oakley's brand sunglasses and needed prescription lenses placed into them. Ali took a 5 second look at the frame as was able to determine that he'd be able to swap the lenses. He informed me that there is always a chance that a frame not purchased in store may break when attempting to change the lenses. The lenses were changed and they look just like they did when I purchased them from Oakleys website. Ali is clearly a veteran of his craft and a delight to speak with. Will be returning here in the future!

Accidentally my frame broke 3 weeks into receiving my amazing new glasses with Blue Light Blocking lenses, I called this location with my issue and they handled it perfectly, I received a replacement frame a week later once they came in. They take care of you here I highly recommend Hakim on Weber Street in Waterloo! I’ve gotten Contacts from them as well and they work amazing.

This is the 2nd time that I have purchased my glasses from Ali at Hakim Optical. I bought 4 pairs of glasses (Up close readers, everyday work bi-focals w/ flexible frames, dress-up/going out for dinner bi-focals, & sunglasses/bi-focals). The service by Ali is top notch, and any follow-up work (replacing nose pads, etc) is done while you wait, at no charge. Very professional, & I highly recommend them as THE place to go in K/W for any type of eye wear.

If Mr. Karim Hakimi, founder and CEO, were to visit this location, he would be extremely pleased and proud at the quality of services it provides! The manager/owner Ali and the resident optometrist, Dr. Lorentz, did a terrific job in helping me with glasses. My frames were meticulusly fitted and my prescription was super accurate. On top of that, best prices in town (I visited 4 other businesses before setting on this location). Eye care is so important, Hakim Optical pays attention to details and gives you the best deal in town. Go there!
