Very poor. Took 3 separate visits to even get the glasses close to right, and to this day, I still can't wear them because they give me headaches. Even with a Groupon, the glasses were still more expensive than many other places. Definitely avoid.

Great service! I was never fully satisfied with my glasses/contact lenses until I came here where the optician told me I had astigmatism, something my previous optician apparently could never tell me. Now my vision is clearer than ever. I was also supplied with 2 complementary pairs of contact lenses, and when when the frame of my glasses broke they supplied me with a new one free of charge. Would definitely recommend.

It has been a year, and eventually I decided to give them a review. I don't have much to say.. but there was once I brought my frame back for an adjustment and I made some complain about the balance of the frame, and I required them to change it for me since it cannot be fixed, which they refused. It' all ok until their manager told me "You know what the real problem is? The real problem is you are very picky. I knew it when you came here to buy this pair of glass" I just got stunned. Even I tend to be picky about the service and product I purchase, I have the right to do so. How the hell can the manager accuse me of giving them high standard? Wonderful. I told myself and all my friends not to buy anything from them any more.

As one would expect, they replaced my glasses frame free of charge when they broke my 1st frame; in addition, they gave me a good discount with my lens replacement of another set of glasses. Best Value Optical is by far the best optical store I have been to. I have a very hard time finding glasses that are attractive, but also fit my face properly. They had a wonderful team that really helped me pick the perfect pair of frames. I felt very confident leaving the store and actually wanted to wear my glasses for once. I ended up getting a pair of Versace frames, which is one of my favourite designer brands. I have never seen a selection with such a variety of nice frames. The prices were SUPER affordable which made me feel better about getting the glasses I actually wanted. I will be back soon to get a pair of sunglasses that caught my eye. I would give this store 10 stars if I could !! :)

I came here to get my rimless glasses fixed since a screw had come off. The lady said she'd keep them and I could pick it up the next day. When I came back, the glasses were broken. She said it was difficult and ended up breaking the lens. Instead of offering a replacement lens, they offered me a "free" checkup if I bought a pair or 2, whatever their regular policy is to all customers. It just seemed like they didn't care at all, almost as if things like this happen all the time to them. First time I've seen such negligence. Whether it was intentional or not on their part, is for upto you to decide. Even so, the fact that they just brushed it off as nothing and provided no compensation for the error is astounding. It shows their incompetence at the job and at customer service. Wouldn't recommend anyone to use this place. But if you want to, I hope you have a good time and don't come out regretting it wanting to write a negative review on here. Much better service available at nearby locations. Avoid these scammers.

Edit: I have just been contacted by Best Value Optical threatening legal action unless I remove this review (which is 100% truthful). Extremely unpleasant and aggressive owner. Terrible experience. During the eye exam the person conducting the exam missed that I had a stigmatism something which another optometrist noticed within 30 seconds (after I decided I wouldn't go back to Best Value Optical again to get contact lenses because of the pushy service)... After comparing prescriptions from best value optical and from 2 other optometrists, I believe the prescription they gave me was incorrect. Additionally the service was awful, extremely pushy, aggressive and rude. A thoroughly unpleasant experience I have little confidence in the examination.

The staff are friendly enough, but the quality of their work is poor. When I came in to pick up my glasses, they had the wrong ones, so I had to wait while they messed around to find me the correct pair. The lenses are extremely loose in the frames. I asked about this, and they said it was normal and they would not replace the lenses unless they physically fell out. They did not offer an initial adjustment when I received the glasses. I have been in four or five times to have them adjust the glasses so they sit comfortably/high enough/don't fall off, but they are still slightly crooked and one arm is bent more than the other. It seems like they don't really know how to adjust glasses, they just try different things and send you away with a poorly adjusted, smudged up pair of glasses. I will instead go to my optometrist in Mississauga to have them properly adjusted. The reason for all the positive reviews is because they ask you to leave a review in exchange for a free bottle of lens cleaner. Clearly their location next to the University lets them do high-volume sales, but if you care about quality and proper fit, avoid this place.

I've spend $500 bought a pair of glasses here, and spend another $39 for the contact fitting. The doctor here are awesome, but there are some unsatisfying experience. By law: A contact lens prescription must be issued upon the request of a patient when clinically appropriate and current contact lens fitting details are known. However the owner of the store does not allow the customer have access of the contact prescription because he wants the customers to buy contact from his store. He says the "exam or fitting" I did was not "exam or fitting", it was "trying" contact. So that does not follows the law. I don't like the way how he plays the wording game. The location of the store is very convenient, but please help your customer more than just want to earn money from them.

My husband I were disappointed with Best Value Optical (Waterloo). We went in for eye exams & contact lens quotes. Our exams were done on an on-and-off vibrating wall which made it impossible to get accurate results. Then the optometrist got impatient at us. We felt like she just rushed through our tests. Besides, their quotes for contact lens were not good. You can easily find better quotes elsewhere. I would not recommend anyone I know to go to Best Value Optical. Thank you for reading.

Really poor quality. Went there 2 times for lens problems. First attend got wrong focal length. Second time got lens without light adjusting though I though to have a deal with manager to add it, so I had been charged extra 75CAD to get it. One month later, the frame was broken and I found it is because they had destroyed the screw and threads on frame completely when fixing the lens dislocation. I gave up this glasses and decide to get new one. Anyone who see my review please consider carefully before you go there.

I have just replaced a broken frame for free today, as my glasses came with a one year warranty. The staff was very nice to me, and found my purchase receipt even though I have lost my customer receipt. They welcome you to come back for repairs, which is just what I had hoped for when I chose a physical store close to me instead of shopping online or bring cheap glasses from my home country - so that I have a fast solution if anything happened to my glasses, which are quite indispensable in everyday life. The pricing is average compared to other opticals - I have been to pricier places and heard of cheaper places.

Honestly, I just had THE WORST shopping experience in Canada. I paid for an eye exam and considered to buy contact lenses. Their policy is to offer you 2 trial lenses to wear and if you are comfortable with them, they will proceed to order from the company for you. However, you have to pay in advance. I made the payment, unfortunately didn't feel comfortable during trial thus i asked for refund and cancel the purchase. I was kind enough to even offer to pay for their FREE trial ones that i used. The minute they heard me asking refund, they completely changed their attitude and rejected me extremely rudely! The woman in the store even said, and i quote,' So you expect that we help you picking contact lenses in store, giving you trial lenses, and walked out FOR FREE?!' OMG, this was the most absurd thing I've ever heard in my life. When we go shopping, people in any store will help us passionately regardless of whether we purchase anything or not. This is the bottom moral line of being a seller. I end up using the credit which was the money i paid for my contact lenses and purchased a frame that I don't actually need in their store. I'm not sure whether they would treat other customers the same or only international students whom they can easily bully. I'm completely hurt by their words and swear that I will never return! This is a nightmare experience and a tip for future customers: there is a tiny little stamped words at the back of their receipt that you would barely notice and they won't mention when you pay - 'no refund'. Just think well before you pay; because once you do, there is no turning back ever.

Staff was kind. They had lots of frames but mostly similar; if you're looking for different shapes/colours I'd look somewhere else. The frames I got are great they are still tight and don't fall off my face. A little disappointed in the lens though. They scratched so easily now I have a million of scratches on my lens.

This place is amazing! I've been twice to get my eyes checked. Friendly staff, extremely nice. Went there, needed water and I didn't know where to get it from since my appointment was soon. One of the staff went all thr way to Tim's to get me water. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Too poor to even receive one star. Had to come to this place several times hoping to get my glasses close to right. They first incorrectly measured my pupil distance. After redoing it, the glasses still gives me headaches and dryness in eyes by wearing it merely for 30min. I returned and the lady simply told me it's because I'm not used to it and that it's my prescription's problem. But I have several glasses based on that same prescription and they are just fine! While arguing, the lady constantly tries to blame everything on me, she even implied that they were too nice even to redo it for me the first time. But she already admitted it was their fault about the pupil distance in the first place. I'm a university student with finals in less than a week so I don't want to waste more time with them. But for anyone who is interested in their service, you are warned!!!

Must Read _ it’s interesting how these reviews are 5 stars and 1 stars. Do you ever think the 5 stars are written by friends and family? I do!! Experience has been beyond horrible. Purchased glasses, did not come in original box, case and no authenticity card. Gave us the come back and we will get you a case. Dealing with this company for over one month. Finally we are handed a used case. Yes new glasses with a used beat up case. Store receipts that are given to do not state product or serial number. Owner authenticated the glasses by writing on a business card. Claims to be a Tiffany Dealer. According to Tiffany, They are Not!! Confronted owner and was yelled at all the way out the door and down the street. Never felt so embarrassed. Please do get taken by this company. Save your hard earned money. Check with manufacture first. If the price sounds too good to be true, then it is too good to be true. I learned the hard way.

Owner is very lazy and rude. My first step in he pushed me to get the most expensive frames. A couple years later, He did not give out my prescription information when I really needed it to get new lenses for my glasses, I need them to drive safely. He said I can come in to get my eyes tested there to get it again, I live in Toronto now. The owner said I can call back on Monday when the manager is in... If you go to UW or Laurier I highly recommend using your free bus pass to find a place that appreciates your business

Really expensive and poor quality. Never trust their warranty, they will find any excuses to refuse you to use the warranty. I spent 699 for the frame and it broke, the owner refuse to help me. A young lady gave me an other frame with 30 dollars. unfortunately it is also broke.

I have been very impressed by Best Value Optical. They have an incredible selection of really attractive and trendy frames, and their prices are excellent. For the first time ever, I could afford to get 2 pairs of glasses, thanks to their 2-for-1 deal that they applied to my complicated prescription. I would recommend asking Peter, the owner, for suggestions regarding frames that would suit you. I usually dread picking out glasses, but he found numerous pairs that were flattering on me. Horrible store I have ever seen. Don't believe their promises. They promised to match the exact lens color for my sun glasses. I waited for 3 weeks for the glasses being ready and found that the color is all black rather than the original changing color. It's absolutely unacceptable and the manager promise to redo it. One week later, it comes exactly the same as last week. Nothing changed! The staff make excuses and blamed the labs. Such an irresponsible lady. If you don't know whether the lab can do or not, don't promise customer. That's cheating! Don't waste your time to deal with irresponsible people.

I went to this shop to get a tiny screw on the frame tightened up. The guy charged me 6 CAD. To my understanding, I have never seen any optical shop (Canada or International) charging amount for this service. I could rather have bought the screw driver or toolkit from somewhere and save money.

It was my first time there. Service: The service was very nice and they expedited having my frames ready in half hour as I planned to leaving that day. Price: The only star I am taking off is about the price. The price is not ridiculous and within reasonable range, but it's just that the 200 off was kind of a joke. The frame was 279, lenses was 199 (much more expensive compared to 2 stores I went before), and Anti-scratch for the lenses for additional 99 dollars? My only request for the lenses was UV protective, and they told me the lenses are the best in Canada though I did not see the brands or wraps they used to make the eyeglass pair. And they only have that $199+99 lense option in the store... I did not understand why the original price for the lenses would be as expensive as 298 CAD. The total price for the pair was 298+276, and then minus 200 as they promised, which is finally $374. Afterwards: I went to Korean optical store, and they told me they can sell me one more pair for much less, with certificates, warranties and everything, no fake theory. They examinated the lenses, and told me that it's regular lenses, and that most regular lenses can be UV protective and general anti-scratch. They also adjusted the frame to make it not slipping off my nose after they observed that I had been constantly adjusting the frames back to my nose. Anyways, maybe I was wrong somewhere, but just to describe my true experience, with 4 star from my experience, above their current average review store to thank them for having it ready for me fast. I hope the free warranty and after-sale service will be true and nice as they promised.

Got my glasses there two years ago. Staff was friendly, but I wouldn't go back for the following reasons: -My prescription was done wrong twice. -The price is very expensive for lenses and frames even with the $100 savings. -Quality of the coating/warranty was poor. The coating started chipping a couple of months after the warranty expired.

This store is terrible, the staff is pushy, specially the Iranian guy(the main guy there). They say you one thing and then, after you pay they will tell you another thing. This my story. It's long read, but you will have an idea of this store. I actually have bought several pairs of glasses from them, because as a student I didn't have time to find another place in Waterloo. However, the last time I wanted to get contact lenses for myself. I decided to go with monthly ones first. I took a pair of samples and ordered the monthly lenses, because the staff was pushing me saying: "it's ok, don't worry, if you don't like the monthly, you can refund them - no problem, we will just send them and that's it". I said: 'OK'. Turns out My eyes are very sensitive to monthly ones and I come back. Then, they pushed me to try other brands, saying : "problem is the brand. You know for some ppl some brands are good some are not.". I've tried other ones, but unsuccessful. Then, I thought I'd try the daily lenses. The same thing: I've tried one pair - didn't like. Then, they pushed me again saying "try other brands - the samples are FREE'. Ok, I try other ones, time is passing this happens during several weeks, cause I have university studies and don't come often to that store. The last day, I come and say, "..All the lenses hurt my eyes, they are not for me. Can I have my money back ? " (the ones that I paid for a package of monthly lenses in the beginning, and remember I was a returning customer at that moment - to be precise I bought two pairs from them before at different times.). They told me: I cannot refund my money in full. They said: 'EITHER TAKE THE MONTHLY LENSES OR ONLY 50% OF YOUR MONEY BACK'. I say:" FOR WHAT??? " They answer: "because we spent time with you, we gave you samples...blah blah blah". I was honestly furious at that moment I wanted to break this store right there. They charged me over around 150$ for nothing... that was before finals, so I didn't want to waste time, but I actually wanted to sue them. Feeling so rightless, I had to take half of money and walk away. I have never written any google reviews ever, but this is a MUST.

I have had different glasses for the past 12 years, and I am so picky when it comes to glasses; I'm telling you, this is the best place around. The price is just unbeatable, the staff are friendly and there are wonderful deals for students. Recently, my prescription changed and I was looking to buy a Ray-Ban RX 6242 2690 along with anti glare and anti scratch lenses, and put a pair of new lenses into my current frame Ray-Ban RB 5248 2000. I searched 5-6 stores; except for this store, there was only one other store that had the frame in stock in Waterloo area, and their price was way much higher compared to this shop. Also, the other store manager told me that since your current frame is two years old, it is of your own responsibility if it breaks during the process!! However, the story was totally different with Best Value Optical. They changed the lenses of my current frame with zero damage to the frame itself, and prepared my new frames, all with superb price and student deal. Yesterday I got my glasses and it is wonderful. The precision of the lenses is zero error tolerance and my vision is crisp and vivid. If you are thinking to get new lenses and frames, just have a quick visit there and you won't regret it. I will definitely refer to them for my future purchases without hesitation.

Careless service and, my personal perception, not honest people aiming at revenue

Do not believe the fake 5 star reviews. The owner is like a snake oil salesman. He is slick and shmoozy but he is a bad business owner, with no regard for customer service. He is extremely rude and verbally aggressive. I’ll preface by saying that I did an eye exam with them less than 4 months ago and purchased approximately $400 in contacts over a 4 month period. Today (Saturday) I went to another optometrist to purchase glasses and they called Best Value Optometry to have a copy of my prescription faxed. The owner said he was “busy” and it had to wait until Monday. Next, I personally called to have it faxed, but the owner said he was too busy and that he didn’t know who I was. He asked me to “email him” with my information. Judging by the other google reviews, I was sure he wouldn’t get back to me. He was cutting me off every time I tried to speak and wouldn’t let me get a word in, so the conversation got a bit heated. We both raised our voices and I called him an “a hole”. I could understand making someone wait if they hadn’t made any recent purchases; however, I just picked up $175 dollars worth of contacts a few days prior. I was frustrated enough by the lack of service that I decided to drive to the store, on my day off, to ask for it in person. There was one customer in the store (they weren’t busy). Again he declined and said to email him. He went on to say he “wasn’t a servant”. When I insisted that he gave it to me today, he absolutely blew up and got heated. He threatened to call the police if I didn’t leave the store. Finally, the optometrist, Chandra, came out and was actually willing to help to avoid more of a scene despite the owner telling her not to. She was nice enough to take the time to help a paying customer. I have a recording of the whole phone conversation and in-person encounter. I’ll happily post it if the owner responds here denying the encounter. I’m a working professional who commutes from Kitchener to Toronto and back for work. I really don’t have time to wait days to have a prescription faxed (assuming he ever was going to do it). Oh, he actually did call the police because I saw them pulling into the parking lot as I was leaving.

Customer friendly, great quality frames and glasses and fair price. My son and daughter still have their own 5 years old glasses and still looks good. They have the only contact lens which is comfortable with my daughter 's sensitive eyes.

A very dishonest store, horrible experience, can't believe the boss and the staff lied together for something they promised for my defective glasses! Oh, and the "Free Eye Exam" sign they put on the magnetic board outside their store, it's totally NOT THEIR "Free Eye Exam" but actually something covered under the university health plans
