Good luck getting someone on the phone. And once you do, they tell you when your appointment is rather than ask when you want to come in. This happens every time I call to make an appointment. Also I have to clear my schedule for the whole day because the wait is horrendous.

Retina Department. If you have an appointment scheduled be prepared to wait 2-4 hours before you’re seen by a doctor. Been here five times for an eye problem I was having and it’s the same every time, hours long wait for 10-15 minutes with the doctor. The people are nice but the system/process they have set up is atrocious.

The worst experience ever!!!! Customer service is terrible had a scheduled surgery for 11am wasn’t taken back until 6pm!!!! There is no communication from the staff! They need to clean house and start over! How does a hospital run without communication? I’m surprised the place is still running! I will never come back to this place ever in my life nor will I recommend no one to come to this place either! They don’t even deserve the one star given!

Great service a little slow,I had cataract surgery yesterday May 17, 2019 waiting to get my second eye done. Definitely going back! Great hospital AA++

I have been taking my daughter to the pediatric and corneal department for the past seven years. Today I called and had THE MOST WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE for the first time. I wasn't on hold for an hour nor did she make me feel inferior because of the questions I asked. She made sure I had all the information I needed and said if noone called me back to call her again. Vanessa you went above and beyond and for that I give Vanessa 5 stars!

Dr. Rebecca Russ Soares, M.D., MPH, was amazing, her bedside manner was impeccable, one of the most professional, caring and companionate doctors I’ve ever met. She saw me right away, same day as I called within an hour. Wills is run phenomenally, I won’t ever go anywhere else again, I am so grateful to Dr. Soares, can’t thank her enough!!!

Experience and knowledge of doctors are great just bring a pillow and be prepared for a 2hr wait to see someone...seems like they always over schedule patients... First time I was here the wait was 1hr and 30mins+ till I saw a doctor... In his speed to get me out, he gave me the wrong refill. Second time I came for a follow up and the wait time was 1hr and 45 mins. This third and final follow up the wait was 2hrs and was told they definitely over scheduled patients. Seems like a regular thing that they over schedule. Meanwhile I witness the doctors huddling around chitchatting for 10min stretches.

Iliana Perez

The staffs are nice but how can they forget to perform a surgery ?

Ruth Miles

On my visit the lady at the deck was polite and courtesy. Didn't need to wait long.

My appointment was on time! No wait! Extremely professional and knowledge based. I would highly recommend WillsEye if you live close. Why would you want to go to a place ( i.e. LensCrafters and the like ) that's primary business is to sell glasses? WillsEye will give your the straight answer about your eyes without trying to sell you something........nough said.

Been goin here for years...n i huv a very good time takin to all the doctors n stuff....they provide excellent service

Pleasant enough experience with the Dr and the nurse that saw me. It was my first eye exam (I know...i know) and everything went pretty well. I'll go back again next year when it's time.

Rita Christensen

I just had the pleasure of visiting Drs. Adam Debusk and Dr. A. Srinivasan and their office staff. Very little wait time for this level of expertise. From front desk experience (welcoming and friendly) to thorough examination, to intent listening to my vision complaints, ending with a nice exit process, parking validation, it was a 5 star experience. Highly recommended.

Each patient is expected to wait more than 2 hours to see doctor. It doesn’t matter if your eyes are in pain and your vision goes blind. Staff seems comfortable to let you wait! There is a nurse who is extremely rude to a patient. She saw that a patient covered her eyes in pain and complained that she couldn’t see to walk into the exam room. The nurse spoke in straight, rude tone that “if you open your eyes you would see”. And, the patient was frustrated and said “she could not open her eyes for 6 hours” What in the world exist such a rude and heartless nurse! People come to ER because they are sick! Not because they are healthy! I wish this event could get escalate to the manager and help nurses and doctors to train how to treat people with warm heart and understanding!

They first provided me with service before telling me my insurance was ineligible and then went ahead to bill me. And then I sit and wait for hours. I can't remember the last time I paid so much for so low quality service. I'm not blaming any particular individual. I'm blaming the hospital and the system UPDATE: I have to admit I wrote my initial review in frustration while I was waiting in the lobby for hours with my eye hurting. Once I went in to get treated, the service was great. I understand that there's likely a shortage of medical personnel hence the long waiting time. On the insurance side of things, they sent me mail offering to help me find coverage either through medicaid or private insurance. Although I know I'm currently not eligible for medicaid, I really appreciated the gesture. I would definitely go back again and recommend it to anyone. Unless you have an extreme emergency that requires urgent attention, be prepared to wait for a few hours. It's probably not the hospital's fault. It's likely a systematic issue.

My experience is that of a spouse going with my ex-wife as she went for treatment for ocular melanoma back in 2008. Yes, the wait times are long but they are among the best in the industry. In my opinion, it's certainly worth the wait; just bring a book or magazines or something to do while you wait. We were referred from another specialist closer to home on a Wednesday afternoon for Thursday morning. Wills Eye told us that there was a conference that all of their doctors were attending and they were all leaving Wednesday night *BUT* that they would keep two doctors around to see us. So, our first impression was a completely empty office with literally no wait time because no one was there! I don't remember the name of the doctor that we first visited with as well as who attended to all of our followup sessions but he was a young Indian man and was always very professional, knowledgeable, and was very patient with my 20 or 40 or 60 questions I had jotted down each and every time we went. After her 4 or 5 days in the hospital for the plaque therapy, we waited back in their waiting room for a discharge appointment that we had with Dr. Carol Shields. This was the only frustrating time we had to wait because the ex-wife was in such pain with her eye all she wanted to do was to go home! However, once Dr. Shields saw us, again, she answered all of my questions and was extremely patient and did not seem to rush us out the door. Any of our followups we simply budgeted a 2-3 hour block of time there at the office and were able to hit up a local Philly place for lunch on our way home. Billing, they do what every provider seems to do today in double billing the patient as well as their insurance company hoping to get double paid. Luckily I noticed discrepancies on the bill and I got my insurance company involved. It took months to determine how much I actually owed. I worked out a payment plan and stayed regular with the plan for over a year with no foreseeable end in sight. Until one day the billing department called to say the debt was forgiven. I guess they wrote it off as a loss. Either I wasn't paying it off quickly enough or they just didn't want to deal with me anymore. I don't know but I'm thankful. In the end, there were certainly some aggravations but I'm sure they'd be just as bad if not worse elsewhere

Elizabeth R Pannell - Betty

The wait times are extremely long. Although I don't like long waiting times, that's par for the course for any specialist. I found the front desk staff to be unpleasant. Dr. Tipperman, cataract specialist, is top notch. He took the time he needed to be through and listened patiently to my questions and observations. Both times after surgery I had trouble with the anesthesia. It was evident all the staff had read my notes about my past anesthesia problems and were prepared to handle the situation. That really put me at ease.

Chris Wenner

Went to the general eye care clinic. The receptionist don't greet you or explain to you as to what to do. I found a sign in board and sign in. We sat in the waiting room for 2 hours, I asked what was going on and they said we didn't sign in, I showed them the sign in board where we had signed in on line 2. They misplaced our paperwork so we had to sign in again, this time on line 9. So now there are 6 people ahead of us, because they didn't move us back to the position we should have been. Finally got to see the intern and she put plugs in my wife's eyes and prescribed Restasis for her dry eye. Then we had to wait another hour to see the attending physician. So we went to leave the parking deck and the bill was $24 as Wills only give you a $4 discount. So we went home and she started using the Restasis and a Restasis commercial came on it stated not to use Restasis in conjunction with eye plugs. When I called none of the Doctors knew that you weren't suppose to use them together. Reason being is the Restasis ineffective when used together with eye plugs. Will never go back there, they are horrible. I don't understand how they got the ratings they have.

Impossible to make an appointment — no one answers the phone, or put on hold for 30 minutes only to reach someone’s voicemail. Left multiple messages & no one calls back. Called the emergency hotline on behalf of a friend, and again…sent to voicemail.

Wish I had read the reviews before I made an appointment. I arrived on time for my appointment, it took reception half an hour to even begin to check me in, I left after 1hr 10m in the waiting room. I don't understand how a business can be so mismanaged. Make appointments for the times that people can be seen. The contrast between the customer service and wait times between this and pen med is night and day. Willis needs a complete overhaul. Crazy.

Wills Eye Hospital to me is one of the best eye hospitals in the Nation. With the Grace of God and Wills Eye knowledge they helped me see again. 35 years ago for a Torn Macula in my left eye. And October 27th 2015 for a Detached Retina & Macula of my Right Eye. I give Thanks to God, Sonia Metha MD. & Bryan K. Hong MD. who was my Surgeons, and the Entire Medical Staff at Wills Eye Hospital for literally helping me See things a little more clearly again.

Deb Winslow

Follow up surgical appointment here. Temperature check and hand sanitizer available at entrance. Doctors office is CDC compliant. All staff and patients are masked.

Benjamin Safran

I had an excellent ER experience two years ago with Dr. Rebecca Soares, who was exceptionally kind, patient, and meticulous, and successfully and thoroughly diagnosed and treated a somewhat uncommon severe eye pain. However, I was surprised 2 years later to receive a mysterious bill (after I'd already paid). Apparently before they only billed me for the doctor, but not for the facility? But my insurance rejected what they saw as a duplicate bill, so it was sent on to me, and now I'm trying to figure out what to do. Given the alternatives, I'd probably still recommend given the high quality of care I received, but if you go, be on the lookout for weird bills to arrive years later.

leslie carter

This hospital is the worst. Its empty, but yet you wait for no apparent reason. Its ridiculous!!! I swear they're back there eating and taking naps. Extremely inefficient. They see people out of order and apparently it takes the entire staff to handle one procedure. Never come to this hospital if you can avoid it unless your eye is hanging out, and expect to wait with that too.

Amazing place and great staff, Dr. Levin and his team were able to give us more answers in 2 hours than we have gotten in the last 8 months. The doctor and his team were extremely patient and thorough.

Visited the institute for right eye faulted view (1989), resultingly showing that to be a macula degeneration; thanks to the care, diagnosis and advices guiding me in the rest of my life, hoping to pay there an other visit after that many years. Just one memory; in my first visit when asked for possibile reason/reasons that might started the problem I remember that I said 'stress' where I'm told that that might not be a cause, yet in my second visit telling me what I said to be the cause is now an acceptable one. Good memories, great place, thanks again...

The wait time here is outrageous. They say we have 6 doctors but things run quicker at a dollar store in the hood then thos place.

Miguel Rodriguez

Great doctors but with covid around be aware 1 patient is only allowed in the waiting room ,even though the sign say 1 person in office they actually mean the waiting room ,1 parent allowed with a child ,if they would’ve changed this to only 2 people only allowed they would’ve gotten 5 stars ... some peoples eyes get dilated and need help sometimes ,especially the elderly. (Update 2021) Once again ,the same shenanigans ,the long wait times , the expensive parking , this time it’s about a 7 1/2 hour wait and close to 40$ for parking … bring strong headache pills along with tolerance…

Hanna Sherrill

Every time I come, I wait for 30-40 minutes just to go back to another waiting area, then wait more, then go into a patient room to wait more. I’m switching doctors. This is ridiculous. Don’t take patients if you don’t actually have the time or room for them in the schedule.

I suffered an eye injury 14yrs ago (hit with a heavy metal chain) and when I say these folks did an amazing job, that is an understatement! I had a detached retina and a damaged lens. It was very difficult dealing with this injury but the entire staff here helped me every step of the way. Not to mention at the time I had no insurance and was low income. They had me sign up for a program they offered for people in my situation. The surgery was a success. I am very thankful for this hospital which I did not know was known world wide until I moved out of Philly!

Vindy Bouncer

What a view! Feeling close to GOD up here while waiting for answers.

Jeff Podoshen

My experience with their billing office has been absolutely dreadful. Nearly impossible to speak to someone and when I do get someone they can't seem to actually solve any problems. I do not recommend. Very frustrating.

After 7 months of trying to call them to make an appointment for my infant son, they finally answered. I’m really disappointed in these practices

Bruni Leka, DPM

Horrible service, for out of pocket, cash patient, inquired prior to visit, at the visit, if any additional charges and was assured and re-assured no additional charges, turned out at least 2 other bills, one from the physician's portion of the ER visit that was just as high as the Facility fee, and sent to collections for the physicians bill, while waiting to see if amount could be adjusted for a cash patient, especially not being aware of such charge, despite asking several times prior and time of the visit! Horrible, horrible, horrible service!

The wait time is bad. Bring yourself a book, some lunch, or anything else to entertain yourself for a maximum of 4 hours. I waited 4 hours once...and ended up leaving. This is a very busy place but it is also one of the BEST places with the BEST doctors. Is the 2-3 hour wait worth it? Yes it is.

Michael Sanchez

I really don’t understand how is it that having an appoinment, you could last 2 hours and 45 mins before the doctor see you. This is insane why, that is why people make an appoinment before coming in. I can understand that you have to wait at most 30 mins but, 2:45 mins when you had a schedule appointment is insame !!! The wrost was that the doctor lasted only 5 mins checking my dad.... UNREAL ! Dr Dunn needs a better scheduler or a better schedule system himself. Wow !

C I

HAVENT SEEN THE DOCTOR YET. SHOOT CAN BARELY SEE TYPING THIS. BUT THE FRONT DESK PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTELY REPULSIVE. THEY TALK OVER YOU WHICH IS THE RUDEst thing you can do. Wait your turn. Dont even wait your turn, simply LISTEN. MY EYE IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. THEY WANT ME TO WAIT TWO MONTHS TO BE SEEN WHEN THEY SAID I COULD BE SOONER AFTER THE FAX FROM MY DOC WAS SENT. they NEED new staff. Im a single mother of a 3 year old. I cannot wait two months to possibly go blind or get my appt bumped later which i hear happens. So they dismiss you and hang up on you. And judging by the reviews it seems as if people had similar or worse experiences than me. Your hospital staff is a disgrace and should be reported to the better business bureau, which i am doing since obviously this has been going on for so long and for so many people. Someone has to take a stand and advocate. Not blaming the doctors but receptionists and front desk people have zero empahty. Not only that, but very unprofessional. Must be NICE TO SEE PERFECTLY WITH BOTH EYES HUH!?

Jennifer Skidmore

My 6 month old was seen at Shields and Shields and our experience there was not bad. We found out she has tumors in both eyes and feel like we are in great hands with Dr. Shields. We did find out that our insurance is not in network with Wills Eye and she has to have a monthly EUA done there. The communication is horrible. I cannot get a hold of anyone to assist me in the insurance issue and I am concerned that this will not get covered. We already will be having tons of medical bills with the chemo she is receiving at a different hospital. I would agree that Dr. Shields is the best, but it would be nice if the staff at Wills would be more responsive and at least pretend to care about their patients.

Karen Greene

PhillyGurl215

This is a good place for the specialist that are needed, but when you have 30 people crammed into a small waiting room and your appt was an hour and ½ ago and your still waiting, that kinda minimizes the work that is done. The front girl also has such a BLAH attitude, that just makes it more frustrating and dull.

earthlingification

Thank you Dr. Carrasco, you are a brilliant surgeon. Had strabismis surgery 2 weeks ago and she knew exactly where to suture the muscle on the first attempt. Imagine going into the O.R. with double vision and then awaking to one image. The entire experience was positive and professional. Thanks to all involved. All my respect, Eric

I'm sure Wills Eye helps many people with their medical issues, unfortunately, they did not help me. It was hands down the most frustrating, uncomfortable, and inconsiderate ophthalmologist experience I've ever had. I waited a total of 3 hours to see Dr. Nagra, only for her to come in, tell me everything I already knew about my condition, address NONE of my concerns, and proceed to provide me a new eyeglass prescription that would cost me an additional $40 dollars outside of the copay. Nothing about this entire experience was expert or extraordinary. I've honestly never felt so scammed by a physician or institution. I won't be returning. Be sure to set aside a half day when you make an appointment there.

Rich Breitweiser

Can’t say enough nice things about them. My soon to be 2 year old had eye surgery there and we had a great experience

Victoria Garcia

I just had cataract surgery in April of 2021 and they put a new lens in. I absolutely love them and they did a great job. However, if you want to be acknowledged then their will be issues. I was 21 years old at the time and had my spouse come with me the day of my surgery. Everything was good and we wrote down his name/info so they could call him after my surgery. After I woke up I had problems. I was just waking up and stumbling in and out of consciousness after surgery. When I woke up the lady was on her phone, I was out of bed within 5 mins, she was trying to explain to me what to do, where to sign, etc and I could barely understand anything. She had me WALK MYSELF TO THE WAITING AREA AFTER SURGERY WITH NO HELP!! She was walking ahead of me to the waiting area and I was trying my best to keep up, but it was hard. We made it to the waiting area and she asks me where my spouse was. I wanted to flip so bad and cry because I didn’t have my phone, they said no phone for surgery, and I thought they called. Come to find out she was just looking around the waiting area waiting for me to say that I saw my spouse, how was she looking for my spouse when she had never seen him, and when I walked back to where we was sitting before my surgery he was there. I asked him. He said they never called and the nurse took off when she seen I found my spouse. He then helped me to the car but this place is horrible. NOT TO MENTION AFTER THE SURGEY you need to see doctors periodically. Well if you schedule an APPOINTMENT AT 9:00am I HOPE YPU HAVE NOTHING TO DO BECAUSE YOU WILL LEAVE OUT HOURS LATER!!!!! They just have you wait in one area when you get there. Then when they call your name they have you waiting in a second waiting area. Then when you get to your doctors room they have you wait their. The doctor always comes in and thanks you for you patience because they are always OVERBOOKED. When you talk to the doctor it’s more of “Everything looks good” & if you have complaints they really don’t address it

Dan Hoffman

They were great! They saw me promptly and had excellent bedside manner. My only criticism is that it being a teaching institution, I wound up being seen by a lot of people, all of whom put more drops in my eyes. All said and done though it was a good experience.

Stephanie Wharton

So my mom is currently sitting on the 12th floor waiting to be scheduled for surgery. I’m trying to understand why is there only one staff member there to do that? My mother has been at Wills Eye since 8:30 am. Apparently this scheduler has a sore throat so she needs to take multiple breaks. Her appointment before this one was over 4 hours. But they wanna rush and not take the time they need to talk to these patients. Dr Patel it was. Coming from someone that works in the medical field, they need to train their staff better on bedside manmer and fix this understaffed problem.

Joey McCabe

It really is a shame!! My doctor was great but the communication between staff and patients is terrible. What is the point of making a scheduled appointment if is going to take over 2.5 hours to finally be seen. I ended up walking out because I had to get back to work.

Markita Snooks

The worst place ever appointment was at 915an it’s now 2pm and still waiting

In all honesty this place is a joke. The wait times are a joke. They don’t answer the phone. They didn’t call back in case if an emergency. It’s all really stupid

PhillyGreek Betz

The most incompetent and useless staff we have ever encountered. My son entered this facility on Friday around 6:00 PM on 11/26/21, with a foreign object lodged in his eye. Not one person asked if he needed help. This is how you treat your patients during the holidays???? I cannot imagine what the bedside manner is like for normal days. To add insult to injury, he was charged $80.00 dollars for parking and no one would validate his ticket. mind you he couldn't SEE!!!!!! I hope this facility closes down. Its a joke.

Quality of service 5 stars. Wait time 1 star. Doctors and most staff very friendly. Most negative reviews are about wait time. Their motto should be. We test patients or patience

Blow out fracture had surgery last year in July. My eye is still swollen and have Enophthalmos. seen another Oculoplastics surgeon and is gonna fix it. I cried waiting for 3 hrs one time. At this office after a year i would never refer this doctor.

Stacie Hampton

Horrible first impression. I called about a serious concern and was passed on to a recorded message that directed me back to the website which is where I started to get information. I was hoping to get a little more information about who I needed to see, what my visit would intail, and that sort of thing. The phone staff is not at all friendly or helpful and completely lack people skills. If you don't mind this sort of thing, try your luck. But if you want someone to care about your eyes as much as you do, go someplace else.

Kathleen Latshaw

have been waiting in the Occularplastic office on floor 9 , for 1 1/2 hr, 1 hr and 15 past my appointment- and the dr and staff are in the back talking and laughing - WHY???? no explanation!!! Long story short: appt time 3:45pm - left 6:10pm without being seen and assaulted by staff on the way out!!! STAY AWAY!!!

Excellent medical care. Terrible management! The extremely LONG wait time and lack of communication abou t the dreadfully long wait make patients anxious and angry necessarily...

Called to schedule an appt the receptionist was very rude and hung up on me out of frustrations. When I called back to speak with the manager he tried to make excuses For her behavior. I work in a hospital with very sick patients and know things can get frustrating at times but your job is serve and meet the patients/potentials patient needs. Receptionist are the gate keepers to any business and can make or break it. I will be filing writing a formal complaint.

Obviously the only hospital in Philadelphia to treat certain rare eye disorders. However boomer management styles make this place a sensory nightmare for my level one autism. I have to use coping skills every time I go here. It is like stepping back in time. Please modernize.

Went to the emergency area today. I have never received better care. They were fast to get me registered, through the initial exam and the detailed exam that followed; polite; knowledgeable; professional and thorough. It was simply fantastic from start to finish.

First of all let me say this, I am hard of hearing ok I call to make a appointment and one of the staff talking to me like Im retarded, the whole point is I was trying to hear what date she was saying, she said 6th of july but to me it sounds like 5th because of that I am HARD OF HEARING so yes it hard for me on the phone. Like I said she don't have to get frustrated, talk louder and hang up on me, I know the date but not the time smh. One of the worst hospital to call on the phone for a appointment. One star from me, Congratulations

This place has TERRIBLE time management. My grandma with diabetes and is 80 years old, was scheduled to meet at 2:00pm. She got there around one and has not eaten and barely drank anything. It is now 9:36 pm and is still waiting for the surgery!!!!

Super experience there when I arrived this morning with torn/detached retina. The desk staff was polite and professional and explained why others were called in before me (I was seeing the "on-call" doctor, Dr. Jenkins, who arrived promptly at 8am and saw me immediately). Dr. Jenkins for his part was also terrific, very pleasant, professional, knowledgable and caring. I don't think I've ever had a better experience, and I really commend the entire practice.

They offer state of art eye care, but as with any hospitals, usually lots of waiting and i just had a insurance fiasco.

Medical staff is great, but expect to wait for at least an hour, sometimes two, even if you are the first appointment of the day.

Susan Dempsey

Although the doctors and staff are skilled, the whole situation with the waiting was insane. Our first appointment was for an eye exam & to see Dr Shields, unfortunately scheduled on a day when the doctor was at a conference. What if we’d flown in from somewhere to be told after waiting most of 5 hours no one was there to look at the results we brought with us or from that day. We had to be scheduled for a second appointment, we were there from 8:30 to after 3 for a 10 min test and the dr app. After waiting that long the dilation wasn’t good enough so we waited yet another hour plus. We were lucky enough to be scheduled first for surgery, we still waited an hour but things went smoothly. The second surgery was a disaster. No food or water for 18 hours before surgery ! Omg, arrive at 1:30 for a 3:15 short procedure that didn’t take place until 6pm. I feel sorry for the dr’s & nurses working in such a disorganized chaotic place and apparently that’s the norm. They seem hardened to the fact that its constant stress & upset patients.

Hector

I'll make my review shorter than before... The people that work there or awesome but unfortunately I guess they use a lot of medical students and interns so collectively as a whole they need to learn how to be in communication with each other better one Department with another. I think they're overworked and they make many mistakes when it comes to getting messages and forwarding them to the correct people. When it came to doing paperwork for temporary disability and then later permanent disability they totally kept dropping the ball four months. If management can get their people to work in unison it would be awesome. I believe they are associated with Jefferson University but not part of them so they do not have the app capability which would be a big plus.

Mary Theresa Schmidt Taylor

I was treated there in the emergency room. Yes, I had to wait, but it was totally worth it to be able to see a specialist. The medical experience I had was excellent. And it was not as long a wait as my husband had in the eye emergency room in London, UK, where he, too, got excellent treatment. Also in comparison regarding the clinic itself (which I will experience shortly accompanying my sister), I have had many visits and treatments at NIH, which has a similar system. Yes, you see technicians and fellows first. (Fellows are usually brilliant board-certified experienced private practice physicians who competed for and won a fellowship at the institutes. They look young to me because I am in my 60s.) But the scheduling of all those tests and fellows may well have been done ahead of time by the expert, who looked at your chart in the morning and decided what tests you needed. You see him/her for a few minutes after they've reviewed your test results. People from all over the world come to these institutes, if they are lucky. We are very fortunate to be in areas where these hospitals are handy (DC & Philly). I would suggest we give them a good rating and advocate for them to get more resources. These doctors see patients with many non-eye diseases simply because a thorough eye exam can reveal systemic things that other diagnostic tests cannot. They should be well-resourced, not sparingly resourced - with room to practice. Hopefully any hospital renovations will provide the room. That's what happened at NIH.

best place around iv had about 15 surgeries here the staff are so nice and caring shout out to Dr. Moster and Dr.Nelson!

The people who work the front desk and the phone are DISGRACEFUL and DISRESPECTFUL. I spoke to this lady Pat on the phone and she was getting upset because she could not type fast and decided to tell me "I should get a job here because I speak so fast" Like WHAT? Who says that. The doctors here are GREAT but the staff are pure disrespectful who wouldn't ever do this is they weren't on the clock. Pat definitely needs to be fired.

C

They have bad attitudes and are extremely slow. Have I mentioned, they can see you in line at the front desk and will not direct you where you need to sign in ... WHERE are the signs !? Let's assume the customer service head is out for the day. 35 mins went past, haven't received new patient forms. Appointment scheduled at ten , I arrived 35 minutes early. Its 10:25 am I'm waiting for them to give me an attitude and I'm jumping over the desk. Btw I'm still waiting 11

Appt scheduled for 8:30am. Arrived before 7:30am. It is 11:15am and still in pre-op. Lots of people walking around, putting their steps, with cell phones in hand answering text msgs. No updates provided. Horrible service.

Ray Gordon Teaches Chess

They gave me my sight back by fixing a very deep, problematic cataract with surgery made even MORE complicated because someone prescribed me an alpha-blocker a month ago without telling me it made this surgery more difficult. My doctors weren't phased, said they deal with it a lot, and I woke up with 20/50 vision in my right eye that had been at "WHAT eye chart?" before the surgery. Here, Jules Stein (UCLA), or some place in Florida whose name I forget are leagues above their peers. Your risk of complications plummet because these people know what to do with a knife.l Don't let anyone else slice open your eyes.

George Espinoza

Tara from recovery was horrible, very rude for a follow up after emergency surgery that took 5 hours of waiting time and 3 hours of surgery. We never received discharge paper , understandable people make mistakes but we were told to call early and that our follow up was local then hell broke loose. Spoke to Tara and she told us that she knows that we did get our discharge papers (and no we did not) and that we were told that appointment was at the Philly office at 8:30. Nothing was mention to us other then to call early. Waiting on a call back from Suzie the manger see what happens but this was rude and wrong.

George waffles

Staff is always in a hurry and very rude. Stay away from Dr. Patel. Please do yourself a favor. Horrible bed side manners. Had to ask who he was. They are understaffed. It's a shame. I'm only taking my mother here because it's her only option. As soon as I find an alternative we won't be back. Every appointment you will be seen 2 to 3 hours after your appointment time. They always say someone will be right with you which is not true. This is my fourth time waiting here over three hours. With an appointment. It costs 28 dollars to park every visit. They are also very bad at filling out paper work. Every visit they forgot to fill out the forms I left at prior appointments. I have given them 4 copies of one form. These forms are to renew her benefits. They simply keep forgetting. Disgraceful. Update 10/2/18 still just as horrible. I waited from 9:45 am in retina till 3pm. That's almost 6 hours for a scheduled appointment. Yes an appointment made a month in advance. 6 hour. Wait time.

Irene Ruffe

The people and Wills Eye made a miracle and made my wife see again she was blind and now she can see the people in Wills Eye are very friendly and very helpful God bless them all

Lawrence Sanchez

I don’t understand why they schedule appointments if they can’t keep them. My appointment was 40 minutes ago and where still waiting. Hopefully they see us within the next hour I drove 1 hour 15 minutes to get here. On top of that they only give you 15% off on parking. They shouldn’t even charge for parking.

naaza shaik

Worst experience ever. Recently my husband had eye biopsy in wills eye. We went for follow up & the waiting is 4hrs with appointmet. If they are busy don't take that much appointments, why are you wasting patient's time & money. After waiting the doctor not even talk properly, whatever he wants to talk he just told & left . We are paying money for his visit but he doesn't have time talk to with patients.

Behr Eyes

My workers' comp carrier sent me to treat with Dr Rapuano, I was already diagnosed with "Dry Eye Syndrome", unable to function in the atmosphere. BEHR Corp deck stain base splatter across my face into both eyes. Dr Rapuano ignored my damage, for years withheld required medical treatment or provided prescriptions required to survive this damage knowing the end result per medical fact is death by suicide to escape the never-ending pain and restricted life requiring "moisture chamber goggles" they sell at Wills Eye for over 6 years as he demanded my monetary entitlements by the product company BEHR who labeled their products as "effects temporary and reversible" combined with the facts Home Depot failed to provide chemical protective gear- he demanded they give him the money for his hospital and also had the maternity ward building in Mainland hospital Atlantic County NJ. All he does is downplay eye damage to relieve your employer and product liability in exchange for YOUR MONEY ENTITLEMENTS to be spend on whatever medical hospital he demands. He Believes his life dreams are valued more than yours. He told me himself he does this to all the guys that get sent to him. Eyes have the same value as brain damage they are equal, entitling you to millions of dollars. If the damage is extensive enough to take your quality and quantity of life as mine is leaving me unable to function in the atmosphere, unemployable you're worth 55 million dollars. Dr Rapuano refused to put me out of work or anything in writing for me in an attempt to relieve my employer and product liability company BEHR. Upon Behr Corp agreeing to build a church, a school, several parks, and the hospital wing in Atlantic County Dr Rapuano finally did the eye surgery I required to stop my eyelids from sticking to my eyeballs so when I opened them or blink it was ripping the surface of my eyeball off creating never-ending pain leaving unable to function at any level. Per Dr Rapuano himself, all he does is build hospitals and get money for Wills Eye. He now travels the world with his family teaching other physicians what to say to do the same thing. Dr "Bob the Builder". Local Judge Nugent dismissed my liability claim in court against BEHR CORP who legally admitted to all liability and choose treating physicians in exchange for all they paid upwards of 100 million dollars in his Atlantic, NJ county RUN from Dr Rapuano and Wills Eye do not do anything any other eye physician does if your eyes are damaged at work or by a product, they will demand they get the money your entitled too and leave you with nothing. ONLY treat here if you have a disease, run if your eyes are injured!!!!

Love Dr.Carol Shields and Sarah Lally. Recommended from every eye specialist that me or my friends know. Amazing treatment and care. Been coming for 5 years, hope to still be doing so for many more.

Lindy Backues

They were very professional and qualified, very service-oriented - though, not cheap! But, I thought my insurance would cover the service - which, in the end, the insurance company challenged my claim (saying my treatment was not necessary.) The doctor from Wills Eye Institute went to bat for me, validating that the treatment and eye checks I underwent were necessary as precautions to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong with my eyes. I was very happy and appreciative that they stood behind me. I would go there again (though, I need to make sure my insurance sees the need - they still are contesting the charges and my doctor is still championing my cause.)

Esmat Karimi

Average waiting time is 5 hours. Very disorganized.

Doctor was great, The wait wasn't too long, nurses were okay but my only issue is when they were doing an eye exam with my 4year old son and asked my son to identify certain numbers he couldn't and one of the nurses looked at Me and said "He doesn't know his numbers" with a "Are you serious? " face as if it was his business and then when the appointment was over the nurse proceeded to tell Me "Next time he comes we'll make sure he knows his numbers, right Mom? " again over stepping his boundaries... That's the only thing I had a problem with because I Felt as though it wasn't his place

- Call the first time, "the lady" of the call center hang up in the middle of nowhere. - Call the second time, "the lady" booked me with the appointment on Saturday, and I asked multiple times to confirm, "are you sure you guys open on Saturday, Dec 11," and she confirmed yes. But, when I arrived, of course, no one was there, and the office closed too. - Call the third time today. After more than a half-hour wait, finally, I could meet someone. But, Jesus. "The lady" again, and she said the office close, call back tomorrow after 8 am, and hang up without a breath. And it was around 3:40, and they closed at 4:30. Great! I guess "the lady" I have mentioned is the same person. And with that attitude of an employee who is supposed to be the front welcome for the clinic. Good luck with your business!

Thank you, Drs. Jenkins and Chen. I hope I spelled your names right - and also many thanks to the intake registrar and triage nurse. EVERYONE I encountered went out of their way to be warm and welcoming and make me feel comfortable. I knew I was in the right place and felt a lot of trust for delicate eye diagnostics.

Michael Corbitt

I attended wills eye back in 84 at six years of age and can still remember the jungle themed waiting room. I was patched for a lazy eye and astigmatism and absolutely hated it! Thirty five years later I get lasik and the only reason I have perfect vision is that the doctors had the foresight to patch me early and strengthen my eye. You guys are world class in my book.

Tom Rodgers

Wills eye lives up to its reputation based on my cataract experience at your Warminster location with Dr Francis Clatk and staff. Excellent medical/surgical delivery.

The guy in the optical shop, Jerry, sounds like a bigot against women. He called me the worst misogynist slur, "dear" just to make himself feel important. Men who insult women to feel powerful are pathetic. Just say "miss" or "ma'am."

Ali Abdulsattar

I called the office to schedule my daughters for an eye exam on January, they scheduled them on April 26 (two days more from the moment of writing this review). They just called and canceled the appointments due to a doctor left the position in the hospital. They offer me another date on May 20 that I declined because I have to re-arrange leaves and other stuff to meet another POSSIBLE appointment. Worst experience ever

D B

We drove 2 hours with an emergency. Upon arrival, the wait is ridiculous. Sitting with dilated pupils for 3 hours is unacceptable. The triage nurse took one hour to assess and there is no sense of urgency from ANY of the staff. Very disappointing experience and quite surprised they are rated as high as they are.

Sandra D

After reading previous reviews, I expected a very long wait. It was only a few minutes before I was called for intake info. Then it was less than 15 minutes until I was called in for initial testing. Further testing was done, with a little longer wait in between, but all in all, it was the middle of the night, they were open when other places were not, and no other emergency room closer to home could do anything about a detached retina. The doctors and other staff are extremely professional, friendly and accommodating. It was a very frightening time for me, and they put me at ease, and I knew I was in good hands. I am extremely grateful.

The wait time here is horrible!!! My 7 year old was sent here by the ER at another hospital to get her eyes looked at. We didn’t get here till 11am because of being at the other ER for 2 hours. Wait time to see the Dr was over 2 hours and he dilated her eyes and had us go to a waitingroom to “wait till eyes had time to dilate”. We’ve been sitting here for 35 minutes and someone else is in here waiting too who’s ahead if ya. My daughter has now fallen asleep on my lap and she’s starving because she kept getting told not to eat incase a problem comes up and she needs anything done. This is insane. ...I waiting to finish this until we got home. We were there for 3 1/2 hours. My daughter was so tired that she cried the entire time during the 2nd exam. The Dr was nice about it and patient with her but no one said anything about the wait or apologized. The closest thing we got was a “oh sorry about that” in a monotone voice and walked away when we signed out and I mentioned how tired my daughter was since we were here for 3 1/2 hours! So rude! This place has a bunch of bad reviews on wait times but since it was so late, I hoped that wouldn’t be the case with us. GUESS I WAS WRONG! Horrrible!

J W

I had developed a blood clot in my eye. Was having an active bleeding episode. Initially my children took me to the nearest hospital, Chestnut Hill, but they didn't have an opthamologist on call and I was eventually told to go to Wills eye Hospital. Probably would have gone blind if I stayed at CCH. My sight have improved tremendously since being treated by Dr. Garg.

I am very grateful to Wills Eye for recommending Dr Francis Clark in Hatboro for a 2nd opinion regarding laser surgery for glaucoma. Wills Eye recommended the same ophthalmologist as my Family Doctor... very reassuring. Also appreciate the thorough exam by Dr Meyers in glaucoma department.

Angela Chang

My mother has limited english. Sent home with no discharge instructions from Emergency room. Waited for over 30 min per front desk for nurse to come out with info. Given push back. Unbelievable.

Sherri Gentile

Everyone from the office staff to the nurses to the doctors are rude and cranky. Horrible customer service and bedside manner. Go anywhere but here.

jesse lentz

This place is both the best and the worst. Really good doctors that seem to be able to fix anything. However, I've never been there without at least a one hour wait. We specifically make appointments as early as possible yet we wait for an hour. I have no idea what the doctors are doing during that time because no other patients are going in. Somehow they're caught up by the end of the day.

Mark Fields

Great place friendly staff and top notch doctors. The wait was longer than expected which added to my frustrations and my daughter’s surgery had to be pushed back for further needed diagnosis. I took my frustration out on a very nice young lady named Shannon who was just doing her job. Shannon I’m truly sorry for the way I spoke to you keep doing what you do , your a great asset for Wills Eye. As for our Doctor Price we are grateful more than you could ever imagine. My daughter has a new look and her confidence in her appearance is growing daily. Thank you for going the extra mile so the surgery could be done correctly. We’re ever so grateful . God bless you both and Wills eye hospital

Long wait always. Feels like they call people that came after you. Nice doctors though. Seems like a very nice teaching hospital. Some of the front desk people are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and nice, but a few of them seem a little rude. Still, a decent experience overall.

Khani Reyez

Worst place to go if you need Glaucoma service. The African American lady with the short hair at the front desk has a nasty horrible attitude and even hung up on me while I was trying to reschedule. The appointments are set two months from time if call, and if you're more than 15 minutes late you have to wait another two months and risk the chance of going blind. The only professionals are the actual surgeons. Everyone else is either Student Doctors or Rude desk lady's who think they're doctors and even talk bad to the Actual doctors. Unless you live within 20 minutes from here don't waste your time.

I love my cornea specialist. He's very easy to talk with & ask questions, and he's 1 of only 2 surgeon's in the tri-state area who performs the surgery I need.

the unfriendly people are gone now, and have been replaced by friendly caring people, that is what we found here at wills eye hospital center city Philly. we drove over 700 miles to come here, and if I found unfriendly people, well I would not return, so they must have seen the feed back and took care of the problems. and they have free coffee.

Greg Brown

Dr. Ho and everybody who works on the 10th floor at Wills are amazing, Thet deserve a million stars out of 5

Very poor workmanship. The person that did my glasses messed up. They would not return my money. Not helpful at all. I now have glasses i cannot see with.

The worse experience ever! At least 35-40 people standing around (not enough seats), waiting to be seen by an optometrist...totally unacceptable! UGHHH!!!! Appt May 24; 9:45am 12:00pm; still 6 people ahead of me

This review is for the Wills Eye facility in Warminster, Pa. I had an outstanding experience with the entire staff and Dr Francis Clark who performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. They are all the most compassionate in my experience in dealing with surgery and doctors.

Scott Fitz

I have had world class leading edge treatment by several doctors on staff- Dr. Garg, Dr Clark, Dr Katz. Fortunately we have this Hospital in our Philadelphia area.

Corey Rubin

This is an incredible place staffed by people who seem to really care about helping patients. The doctors and support staff are equally compassionate and my experience visiting from the Midwest shaped up to be everything I was hoping it would be. My particular thanks extend to Lindy on the cornea service for arranging to have me meet with Drs. Ayers, Rapuano, and Meghpara all on the same day and at the same time. I really appreciated it.

Stafan Moore

Britt Booth

Visit was a good experience. The doctor was also great. My challenge came after the fact. My visit was a year ago and I have called 10+ times over the past year trying to correct their mistake of using my medical insurance versus vision. More recently, they sent my bill to a collection agency when it was a general visit and should be covered 100% (assuming they did it correctly from the start). It’s impossible to get anyone on the line that can help, which is after waiting on hold with an automated system. With being such a large facility, I would expect they would have people that can help versus a 3rd party for billing that constantly hangs up on me or doesn’t do anything.

Alexander Dibernardo

I went there shortly after my accident I was so terrified that I was going to be blind at the rest of my life the doctor told me to grow a pair I will never go back there as long as I live

Eileen Kumpf

The wait time in the ER is an absolute disgrace!! I gave it a one star but it really doesn't deserve any stars. A 5 hr wait and still wasn't seen by a doctor.

Sergei Gorulko

I heard so many good things about this eye center, but I am schocked by the customer services. To make an appointment went through the online process, entering a lot of information and, in a few days, received a voice mail asking to call them back. So, I have been trying to return this call for three days in a row, and no one ever called me back. Today they asked me to go online again and fill out, not because he couldn't find my information; he didn't even try because he has not even asked my name. When I said that would probably find another doctor, he sounded like "whatever"...:=)

Manjit Guleria

Have been coming to this hospital for over 20 years. It was first for my father who had Glaucoma. Dr. Katz treated him for years as a friend. There’s no better doctor than him. More recently he performed cataract surgery in both my eyes a few years ago. I have not worn glasses since the surgery. I can read the fine print in a restaurant menu. Dr. Katz always had students following him so he could pass on his vast knowledge and train excellent eye doctors. I never mind waiting as they are dealing with your eyes. It appears every patient gets excellent care and attention. Just bring a book and read while you wait. The front desk staff is efficient and friendly. They are always available for emergencies. Always call back when I leave a message. We are all fortunate to have such a great hospital with tremendous doctors in the area.

Jim Sileo

Wait time is disgraceful. Still waiting and am ready to walk out. I I I have an 11 o'clock appointment and it is now 2:10 and I'm still waiting. The Physician is taking other patients who came in after I did. Spent 4 hours in the ER last evening waiting for a specialist and then told go home come back in the morning. I know it was a Friday night and they were probably tired, but with life-threatening situations they need to come in.

I am so greatly thankful to this Hospital for so totally changing my life for the better. Your staff and surgeon, Dr Fran Clark provide the very best in care. I am glad I did my research. You all need to some how get the word out that you unilaterally have all the best technology, I went for 5 cataract evaluations before choosing you and Dr Clark.

Harold Anderson

Kyle Schaeffer

Spent hours in the waiting room to be seen. Don't go here if you have a real emergency. They don't seem to care much.

Lady Akehurst

Gave a small child a late appointment took the child back an hour after the scheduled appointment time. Sat another hour waiting for "giggle juice" (midazolam). The timing here is very poor. They do not care if a child hasn't eaten in almost 24 hours and endured a 3 hour car ride. They do seem very engrossed in their own dramatic interactions with each other though. The staff here obviously doesn't get along well enough to work as a team.

molod md

This hospital has zero respect for others time. Made my daughter wait for more than 3hrs for the pre and post eye procedure visits. Total disgrace!

Yvette Wil-Santiago

The wait time in this place is a disgrace. Why schedule a 9:00 appointment when they constantly overbook. I've been here 2 1/2 hours and still waiting for my child to be seen. This facility should not be allowed to run this place the way that they do. They have a excellent rating with top doctors that specializes in pediatric eye care but as a patient my time is valuable too. Final straw!

Great Dr's and a pleasant staff.. If you have a appointment be prepared for a long wait.. Went there at 8am and didn't leave till 1pm. Need more Dr's.. And the place could use a painting.

When we stepped off the elevator and looked into the waiting room our mouths dropped. It was 7:15 am and it was packed. We signed in and waited over an hour. We left at 12 noon. We were told ahead of time to expect 6 to 8 hours. The Doctors and Staff were very pleasant, considering the overwhelming number of patients they see in one day. Yes, it was a little crazy, but it is to be expected being a teaching hospital. They are our future doctors! We will be taking our daughter back in July for surgery. Overall experience was very good.

First of all the doctors are phenomenal. If not for them this would be a one star review. My wife had a 8:15 AM follow up appt on 6/19/18 in the oncology dept. We arrived at 8:00 AM. After the computer check in we sat at 8:13 AM and we sat and we sat and we sat. To prevent me from approaching the receptionists my wife asked how long it was going to be before she was going to be seen. The receptionist went back and talked to one of techs and my wife was promptly called back. Time 9:15 AM. This tells me the receptionist failed in the prompt transfer of my wife’s records to the exam area. Numerous people who arrived well after we did, one of who arrived 45 mins late for their appt were seen ahead of us. Not to drag out the story we were the absolute last people called back to see the actual doctor. We finally exited the doctors room and walked out to a totally empty waiting room and reception area. The only person there was the young lady at the check out desk. The receptionists desks were also vacant. Time 1:15 PM. The only bright spot of the day was the great news we received about my wife. Thankfully we don’t have go back for a year and potentially experience this again.

Alene Levin

They are wonderful. Dr. Rosenski is so smart for a young doctor. And all the staff is so good. So glad I went there.

Alejandrina Carrasquillo

I just wanted to ask if my insurance was accepted I was put on hold for an hour then they picked up and without saying anything disconnected the line. I tried again later and the same thing happened bad very bad I never do reviews but I think there customer service need a lot of improvement very rude people

Emily L

Waited an hour past our appointment time for my daughter. They just took someone else in and we didn’t want to wait another half hour more. I asked what was going on and the receptionist said they had to overbook for today since the doctor had been out. They could have just asked me to reschedule in advance. We left, my kids were restless and hungry. Had to pay $20 for the parking since we had to wait so long. If you’re interested in a practice that doesn’t value your time, this one is for you.

This Doctor, Dr Michael Abendroth, is the best doctor in the world. He is knowledgeable and well-school. Unlike most doctors, he is willing to listen and offers good recommendations to the patient. He is currently the top resident intern and I am confident he will be one of the best eye doctors in America Truly a blessing to deal with. If he leaves Jefferson, hospital they will surely be loosing a great Doctor. He is the Best!

While I have no issue with the docs I have seen at Willa Eye, the patient check-in and administration is complete chaos! Managing appointments too difficult and time in the waiting room horrendous . I left and demanded a refund of my copay after waiting 80-90 minutes! So a complete waste of 1/2 a day considering travel into Phila. Just not worth it!

Don Berkhimer

Brother in law had surgery scheduled for 10:30 and it's now 1:15 in the afternoon and the reception staff can't give us a legitimate reason why we are still waiting. Personally I think they overbooked, would be nice to have someone with authority legitimately explain why such a long wait without giving us a political bullshit excuse. Just to hear someone come out and apologize for the delay would nice to say the least but I'm not going to hold my breath. The scheduler should be reassigned to housekeeping lol

Stephanie Koenig

Not accommodating to people out of state at all.

Awesome nurses great hospital room and the best Dr's ever

Ridiculously long wait

william diaz

what's the purpose of giving people an appointment and you can't respect it. we have our job if I schedule and I am there in the time than I have to wait an hour or more to be seen. it's simply ridiculous.

Cielo Butler

So ridiculous. Trying to call this place is insane. Also I waited one hour only to find out that they booked me with the wrong doctor when I repeatedly mentioned that I needed to make an appointment with the contact lenses’ office. The ophthalmologist was incredibly helpful but the problem is the call center and front desk.

I would highly recommend Wills Eye Hospital. It was recommended to me and I am very impressed! I had a cornea transplant. Had no trouble with rudeness or waiting. Drive 3 1/2 hours one way to see and then sugery, 3 checkups to follow. Dr Meghpara is top notch! Caring and concerned with you. Maybe it's very far for me to travel but it's worth it!

My son came to Dr.Nelson at “Ophthalmic Partners” (but I see that he also does surgeries at Wills eye) for an eye surgery because he had “strabismus” I was scared because my son was only 6 months at the time and I am a first time mom but dr Nelson was so confident and made me feel much more comfortable with doing the surgery. Most people in my family told me not to do it but I thought I was doing my son a favor and did it anyway... After the surgery my son was screaming and crying because of the anesthesia, that really broke my heart but I tried not to show it. He was crying bloody tears and had his eyes were super red ???? I held him all day and did want to let him go. He gave me little to no advice after the surgery. After 20 days my son had bumps on both eyes.... This literally brought tears to my eyes because it was so much wrong with the surgery that just was not right and not to mention his eye was and IS back to how it was before the surgery!! I ended up taking my son to Chop and he now has to wear an eye patch for 2 hours a day, he is 1 years old it is VERY hard trying to get him to wear it. Before the surgery I asked dr Nelson could we just start him off with the eye patch he said NO he “NEEDS” the surgery. Every question I asked him he was SO confident that my son will be ok with NO SIDE EFFECTS. When I went to chop they did and told me exactly what I thought my son would have needed for the very beginning..this really upsets me and I would advise for everyone to do more research before just trusting anybody with your kids please learn through me. It’s so sad and I feel bad for my poor baby. Crazy thing is I have to pay for something that they didn’t even do.... a waste.....

I was diagnosed with cataracts and Fuchs dystrophy in both eyes a few years ago and my eyesight was getting progressively worse. I made an appointment with Dr. Meghpara for a further diagnosis and I was at the point I needed corrective surgery. I can't thank Dr meghpara enough for restoring my eyesight. Less than 6 months after my last surgery I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. Dr meghpara was professional, very informative, very caring and very patient throughout the whole surgical and continued post op process. I would highly recommend him and his staff for any cornea issues you may have.

The entire process was unacceptable, time consuming and disappointing. I finally arrived 13 minutes early for a 10am appointment (after circling the attached garage for a parking spot). So many people were present that many waited to be called near the elevators. I was "in the system" but provided a registration packet to manually complete in the first of three waiting areas. I was called back to the second waitingt area at 1015. I was finally seen at 120pm, after two different scans and falling asleep while waiting with dilated pupils in a bright room. The ocular RN was gentle, patient, and personable. The techs were respectful and efficient. Dr Light was brief and rough despite me telling him that he is applying too much pressure to my eyes during the manual ocular exam. I was rushed and not effectively provided with answers; visual prescription, discussion about the need for a prescription change, when to wear my glasses. I was told that there had been no notable change in my condition, "wear them when you need crisp vision". He advised that I be seen "upstairs", as "that is not what we do in the retina department ", come back in a year for my next exam . I had been seen in 2016 in the Retina department and provided with my prescription . Why would I have such a thorough exam only to have a less thorough exam at a later date? I was told by a staff member that "despite a lack of available Drs, they just keep booking appointments ", overbooking... in a pandemic... in a world renowned Hospital. Something needs to change. I chose Will's Eye because of the reputation and past pleasant experiences, but I am seeking another option after this.

Good doctors, absolutely terrible customer service and VERY unorganized. The uncaring of the staff permeates the entire hospital. Long waits and delays for everything!

Doesn't matter when you go. Emergency room empty and you will still sit here for hours. People are so slow

Maryann Scott

I am sorry I have to rate this a one i mean its wills eye and usually know for great services at least it use to be and if it was based off the resident I saw in the emergency room alone dr marissa shoen it would be a different rating she was great and NICE and helpful but as for everyone else a emergency room stay should be empathetic or at least peaceful and calming not abrupt or make you feel uncomfortable or un welcome you usually there in pain ,confused but definitely for help emergency help and when I tried to make a follow up appt as suggested by marissa across the street It was none other then impossible they transferred me four times without me even being able to speak and let me know what I needed or wanted they kept transferring me to a mailbox that was unable to leave a message because the box was full and when I got one word into let them know that they said well ot gave you a website to go to go there and make a appt and to that i asked for a supervisor to call me they said someone would in 24 hrs because one I was told someone could and would help me make a appt cause hello I have a damaged eye i cant see which is why i need assistance two i dont have computer access so what makes them assume everyone has access then i called back to ER to leave a message for Marisa to find out what om suppose to do the doctor said i need to be seen on 3-5 days after being seen at ER but there being impossible in just worried about my eye sight being restored it was stressed how important a follow is but make it so hard to schedule it and as if all this wasn't bad enough and seems somehow medically wrong as I'm waiting to reach someone anyone to help me I listened to auto insurance and Medicare sales people trying to sell me auto insurance while I waited I mean are you serious ? I hope the proper authority see this and fix it so none has to feel as scared helpless and hopeless as I do now and I pray i reach someone in time to make sure my vision and eye are healing correctly before a issue arises

Triage nurse was nice, Doctors are Ok. However, the Filipino women at Registration was very rude and highly niave. She asked me if I was working and I reposned no then asked if I was a student and I said I recently graduated. Then got the nerve to say your not working yet? Thats none of her business. What a piece of crap!

If I could give it less than one star, I would. It was the worst health care experience I've ever had to go through. The first time, I thought the poor experience was just a fluke - every business has a bad day - but my next appointment was just as bad, if not worse, than my first. Both times, I arrived at my appointment about 15-20 minutes early so I could fill out sign in, fill out paperwork, etc. The first time, I was seen TWO HOURS after my scheduled appointment time and the second time, I waited OVER TWO HOURS and then just left. Both times, I went to the front desk to ask them when I would be seen and they said "You'll been seen when you're seen. There are people ahead of you." Yes, thank you, I know there are people ahead of me, but my appointment time was two hours ago and I would appreciate if the staff could acknowledge my two hour wait and apologize. But no. No apology, no reason as to why they were late. On my second appointment, I was told that there were eight people ahead of me (after I asked), I asked what times their appointment was for - and they were all the same appointment time as me. Why on earth would they schedule *NINE* people (including me) for the same appointment time when they only have HALF that amount of doctors? It isn't rocket science. 9 patients > 5 doctors. Gee, maybe they should reduce the amount of patients they schedule. And get people working at the front desk who are not contenders of Rudest Person Alive (they're all winners there).

Worst experience i ever had ...i thought this place was top doctors...no one knows anything no communication...i would not revcomend

extremely long wait times.

This is for customer service only not the eye care received. When I recently called to make an appointment, the receptionist was very rude and not compassionate or caring about my situation. I have had an eye injury 2 years ago and have been to Wills over 10 times. I don't need an interrogation when I try to make an appt. I know what type of appt I need and how my course of treatment should be. She actually tried to bully me into making an appt for a laser procedure that I am not ready to proceed with because "it was in my chart" . Also told me that I didn't need a new eyeglass prescription since it expires in May. I had to explain that with my injury my sight is constantly changing and yes I do need a new eyeglass prescription. I shouldn't have to justify my reasons for scheduling a follow up appt. Also when you get there some of the staff is pretty rude as well. I do have to say the Drs. are wonderful but back office customer service is not professional and leaves much to be desired. It's a disgrace and I think Wills could do better with some training and revamp of their staff.

My Dr was Moster.Rude, patronizing and I have a huge trust issue with him.I would rather go blind. He made a misfortune so much worse.

I would give zero stars if possible 2 hour wait with the same bs "theres only 1 person ahead of you" very unprofessional in the handling of me and everyone else waiting hours in the waiting room. Had to leave before my son even got seen by a dr just so he had enough time to get to school. With no drs note might i add. Worst pediatric care experience ive ever had. Wouldn't even refer this place to people i dont like. Will never go to a wills eye practice as long as i live.

Gina Deihl

I'd really like to give 0 stars. Waiting 1 hr to be discharged.

Kathleen Idland

While visiting the Wills Eye Clinic, I was greeted by miserable receptionists. They would not make eye contact nor were professional, and asking a question was like pulling teeth. I waited over 5 hours including being seen quickly by Dr. Beck and what appeared to be a student. She was rude, no compassion, did not explain nor talk to me, allowed me to be provided a wrong diagnosis from her student doctor, telling me I was blind, and then sent me a bill for her unfinished services. I encourage anyone seeking treatment for their eyes to go to Lankenau. Wills has definitely compromised patient care with unprofessional and uncaring staff such as Dr. Beck. Being a Yale Graduate means nothing if one does not know how to treat people or relate to patients. I would never trust her or this clinic again. Dr. Manley would have NEVER allowed any of his patients to be treated in this manner.

T M

I came to WillsEye Glaucoma because of my mother who was diagnose with Glaucoma. We have been sitting in the waiting room since 1pm and it is now 355pm wait to see an eye doctor.

C Ann

First I will say that I never have to wait a long time. BUT to be FORCED to pay a HUGE amount up FRONT before I'M seen is WRONG. I do not have a co-pay. I should not be charged before I'm seen. I should NOT be charged before services are rendered. Is that legal? The insurance woman charged me an 'Estimate" from a previous visit a year ago. I was forced to pay or NOT be seen. How about that? Last year I disputed the amount. I think it's wrong to force this upfront. I have insurance and they pay. This is pretty sad that Will's does this...esp for folks who travel a long way there and need to make payments after the insurance pays my other part. As we all know insurance premiums and monthly payments are through the roof...I won't be going back there...and that's too bad..so no more $$$$ for them from me.

I have worn contact lenses for more than 30 years. I lived in several states before moving back to this area. Every place I have gone to I go in get the exam and leave with contacts or at the least they have been ordered and ready within the week. NOT HERE! Apparently they have to see you several times before they can order them for you. I have not had any luck getting in for an additional appointment so 6 months later , a co pay of $65, use of my insurance and I just got in the mail a bill for another $65 and still no contact lenses. Now I have to find a different place and pay all expenses out of pocket as I used my once a year eye exam insurance. DON’T GO HERE!

Dr. Shields and Lalley are incredible. Their knowledge and thoroughness is world class. I wish I didn't have to be a patient but extremely greatfull that I had the best care available.

Describe your Experience - HORRIFIC! What a horrible experience! Very unorganized, very rude and forget about calling to make an appointment! Come on...this is Philadelphia, we are better than this!

Rude self entitled administrative staff. They need training in customer service. They need to be taught to be polite and respectful

Wrote twice in three weeks to schedule an appointment and no one contacted me. This is insane. I wrote and told them the problems I was having as well. For a large hospital I cannot believe they cannot contact you back.

John

Was told BEFORE I took my son there that they did take his insurance, ONLY to be billed after going there twice, and getting tests done that they DONT take his insurance. Been getting billed for over a year now, and countless phone calls, they still say its UNDER REVIEW! What a joke!

Dr. DeBenedictis did a fantastic job on my eye. She performed in depth tests to identify the problem and answered all of my questions fully. I was fully comfortable going into surgery and the recovery was quick. Her staff was kind and professional, and I fully recommend her and Wills eye to future patients.

I just wish they had better accommodations for people in wheelchairs, Inside the exam rooms. Not everyone is able to hop up onto those chairs, but it seems as though the equipment doesn't come low enough for the patients face.

Great place don’t know what I would do without them...Dr. Katz is excellent

Wait time is ridiculously long. I ha e been waiting 2 hours and still haven't been seen!!!!!!!!!!

The doctors here are simply the best around. Very professional staff. The only place to go for serious eye problems!

My son was diagnosed with retinal detachment. He was scheduled to see Dr Carol Shields. I am a physician in practice currently. The experience was unacceptable from rude staff to “frightened” students, residents and fellows so anxious about the hierarchy of academic medicine. The observation is they have lost the understanding of taking care of the patient with compassion and concern. There is no way I would bring my son back. They might have a reputation for being the best eye hospital but they need to visit the cardiology service for a heart transplant

Sandra Jimenez

Child had an appointment at 9am still over an hour and have yet to be seen, which has made me miss her next appointment. Everyone that came in after us was called to the back. Only to find out that my child doctor came in late, So they said.

David Vann

Great doctors but the administration is horrible. Very, very rude front staff and with two insurances they tried to make me self pay patient twice, I refused the second time. They seem to have problems handling the insurances. Almost impossible to talk to them on the phone, my husband spent hours trying to sort out a problem being bounced from one person to another and nobody wanted to help. Transferring my care to another facility, it is just not worth it.
