I have had four consultations at this clinic now and every single one has been fantastic and extremely thorough. After my first consultation I was placed under the special care of Dr. Olivia Ricci in the Ocular Health Clinic who is a resident and is absolutely lovely. Dr. Ricci was nothing but professional in every capacity and made me feel as though she really cared to improve my dry eye condition and my overall eye health. I have been to other clinics in the past, however, this was the first time I had ever been dilated for a checkup so the doctors could look deeper (literally and metaphorically) into my condition. Other doctors (who have likely been out of school for some time and fallen into a poor checkup routine), have never given me specific information about why my eyes were dry or offered options to improve it and prevent it further down the road - other than your usual cheap eye drops that are filled with preservatives. During my appointments I was also able to see images of where the dryness was most prevalent and the doctors were great at explaining why various aspects contributed to blurry vision, irritation, etc. Just a great experience overall and I will continue to consult with this clinic in the future and highly recommend to others if they appreciate good service and thorough eye examinations.

Horrible experience. Student does all the work, doctor comes and checks. Prescription is made. I ordered my glasses and $240 later they do not work. I go back and they realized they made a mistake. They did not measure the distance from my eyes to the screen. Not even we are sorry!! I asked for some kind of compensation or discount to have my glasses done again since my insurance money is all gone. Nothing!!! These people are the worst. They did acknowledge the mistake but they would not care less about the financial implications it had for me. The worst doctor and office ever. Stay away. You could be next

Was impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge of the students. Would recommend.

This rating is primarily because of poor receptionist service, but secondly due to a doctor acting unprofessionally and also making a lazy diagnosis of my symptoms as merely a computer screen related issue. I've visited this clinic twice and tried to a third time before writing this review. In July of this year I had a lot of trouble calling, trying to make an appointment or to see if they had received my referral from another doctor. After not getting through and assuming that the receptionist was temporarily busy, I called after a few minutes and still couldn't get through. Assuming I was wrong and that the receptionist was busy with something requiring a longer service time, I waited and periodically called back every 30-60 mins. I still couldn't get through to anyone. I just had this happen to me again with something less important, trying to reschedule an appointment, and it's not fun to go through. Earlier today when I scheduled the appointment, I got passed between receptionists to someone in the Contact Lens Clinic and after asking "are there experts at this clinic with experience diagnosing Keratoconus" I was given a long spiel about how I shouldn't doubt the expertise of UW optometrists because they are some of the best in the country. I then asked how soon someone could see me and the receptionist told me "you know, you're being very difficult" and that I shouldn't expect to see anyone soon. Related to my secondary issue of complaint, the first time I visited an optometrist here the doctors were leaning against their respective door frames, laughing through a conversation before I turned the corner and they quickly shut up and slunk away. I then went through an eye exam with a student who took everything very seriously and seemed to know what she was doing. One of the laughing doctors then came in to see me and review the student's work but acted very casually, in stark contrast to the student. This doctor then told me that the problems with my vision were caused by computer screen use and not using special wipes to clean oil from my eyelids every day. I now realize that this was a very lazy diagnosis, as two different optometrists I've seen in the past year have both come to the conclusion that Keratoconus is the cause of the symptoms I am experiencing. Wish I had heard that earlier.

The staff are incredibly friendly but I didn’t get accurate results. Had to look for another Optometrist. Don’t waste your money.

Excellent quality of care. Good with kids. We've been going there last six years. We love the place.

I booked an appointment over the phone to get my pupillary distance measured. They asked if I was a patient of theirs, and I said no. They said that was fine. When I got to the clinic they refused to see me because they only do PD measurements for patients.

Don't buy your child's glasses here! My daughter had her glasses for 3 months and scratched them and they will do nothing for you. I have to now go and purchase new glasses for her already. Go to LensCrafters! They guarantee childrens lenses and frames for two years!! Your child can walk into a LensCrafters and brake them on purpose and they will replace them! Children scratch and brake glasses!

The best optometry clinic in Waterloo. You get a thorough exam by a senior student followed by a consultation with a faculty member. My previous optometrist spent maybe 5 or 10 minutes on an examination. At UW expect a checkup to take an hour.

Léomike Hébert

Excellent quality of care, exams may take longer but are very thorough.

Very through examination, and was relatively inexpensive compared to other places. A polite and friendly optometry student performed the exam, and a doctor supervised. Usually my exams take around 15 minutes, but this time mine took 45 minutes, because of the additional tests they performed.

This clinic's focus is for training the UW students only. The students ran through all possible exams for at least one hour and gave all kinds of diagnosis for my kid. Then the doctor takes less than 5 minutes to check. We have seen at least 20 different doctors because the doctors always move out of the university when opportunities are present. None of them (except for one) cares about the kid's progression. For example, we see the doctor every two weeks and found that my kid's myopia increases .25 every two weeks. The doctors said it is OK: almost not changed from the last checkup. But the last checkup was only two weeks ago!

The eyes exam lasted at least an hour. It was very informative and thorough. Professional students may be the ones to conduct the exam under an experienced supervisor, so there's essentially two people checking.

poor place. People are indifference in the optomitry and not professional.

I was at the clinic yesterday. I was seen by Dr. Khan and Dr. David Kwoeski. It took several hours. It was the best appointment with an eye doctor I have ever had. It was thorough and ended up in diagnosing problems I have been suffering for years. What a relief.Thank you to these doctors and to the U of W for providing the service. I finally am receiving the help I need and on my way to recovery. I could not be happier with the results and subsequent treatment. If you have any eye issues, then this is the place to go. My name is Cheryll

The checkup was very thorough I thought and lasted about 2 hours compared to my last optometrist visit that lasted about 15 minutes and was a disaster. They had all the latest equipment and asked quite a few questions about my medical history. They were friendly yet to the point which I appreciated the only problem I encountered was ordering my glasses they took 10 days to come in turned out they didn't have the AR coating I paid for and had to go back They told me another 2 weeks which is almost up and I,m still waiting I even had to pay for parking and left with No glasses hence the 4 stars

Rosa MD

I had my eye exam here. I called them to book an appointment. It was quick and they reminded me again of my appointment 2 days before and told me what to bring. I didn't need to wait and the instructions were clear. The exam was very thorough, which lasted around an hour. They explained everything to me and were patient when I didn't understand something. There's a contact lenses clinic on the second floor and other services. It was a good experience going there. The price was 90 if you dont have your insurance.

Bought an eyeglass from here. They initially said it will take at most two weeks to deliver the order, but they gave it after 7th week. Terrible customer service, and very rude. Will never buy again from here
