Dr. Narang is a great OD. She makes you feel comfortable and welcome, and takes the time to explain any changes or issues your eyes may be experiencing. The floor staff are generally pleasant but the product/sales people can be somewhat rude and dismissive if they know you do/plan to buy glasses online. Sorry for wanting to save hundreds of dollars. Overall my experiences here are good and Anita is truly professional.
I have been going to the optometrist for 15 years, and Dr. Anita was the first one to really take the time to explain and show that she cares. She knew exactly what I needed, why I was feeling tired and unable to focus all the time, and was confident that she could help me. The rest of the staff were also super friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommend.
Spent over an hour here for a simple eye exam. They seem more interested in selling product than treating patients. The doc was selling lense types to me even before she did the exam. Waited around for 40 minutes just to be rushed through the exam process and almost walked out. Small selection of glasses without price tags. Handed me a dry eyes product without telling me I would be charged for it. Incorrectly billed my insurance. Not personalized service, at all. Verdict? I won't be going back. I wouldn't recommend.
I'm giving this service a 5 star rating because Dr. Anita Narang made my first visit informative & fun. Dr. Narang is very knowledgeable and her main focus is to make sure all the bases are covered without any pressure and she has fun doing her job. I haven't had my eyes checked for some time because I found the last experience boring and too much up selling. Not here. Dr. Narang pointed out exactly what my current status was and in her friendly smiley way reminded me how important it was to have my eyes checked. The only problem...... she's right. I will Definitely be back & now I look forward to it. The front office staff are also extremely helpful. Thanks, Dr. Narang.
Island Eyecare optometrists always exceeds my expectations time and time again. They are a top-shelf team of professionals that pay special attention to their patient’s eye care health. They have the latest technology and the doctor places the highest priority on each and every patient that she serves.
Went here for the first time today for an eye exam and was so impressed by the Optometrist and the state of the art equipment. I did not plan on buying my glasses here as well but the pricing was great and I love to support local businesses. The extra bonus was the Optometrist owned the clinic and I am more than happy to support her business as her service and personality were exceptional.
My experience with Island Eyecare was questionable. I attended the store 3 times and was helped by 3 different people...professional but not cordial and none introduced themselves. The third visit was because the prescription was filled incorrectly and I waited a week longer and had to make another trip into Victoria because of this error. Considering the money spent...quite lacking in personal care.
Anita Narang loves her work. I (and my eyes) feel completely cared for. Her new office is state of the art and her team is welcoming and skilled!
I had a great experience here. The optometrist was great and the staff was so helpful. They help me find the perfect fitting frame. I got a great deal on a pair of glasses and contact lenses. If you are looking for a great optometrist your search is over this is place to go. Thank you and see you on my follow up :)
Great experience with Dr. Narang and her staff. Easy five stars.
I am fully satisfied with my experience with Island Eyecare. The service is professional, friendly, prompt and efficient. Dr. Narang is a superlative optometrist, both in her skill at her profession and her human empathy. This visit I was diagnosed with a serious condition (a cataract in my right eye) and she was very supportive to my reaction to the situation, in addition to explaining the condition clearly and cogently, and she immediately undertook steps to set treatment in motion, for which I'm very grateful. I first dealt with Island Eyecare when it was Dr. Carr's practice in the early 1990s, and, because of the quality care I've received these many years, I will continue to seek my optometry care at Island Eyecare in the future. I'm completely satisfied as a patient and customer. — Cam Sinclair
I was recently visiting the city and noticed changes in my vision. I immediately contacted Island Eyecare. The staff were very kind and took immediate action to my concerns. It turned out I had a tear in my retina and required emergency laser surgery, I am grateful for their support and incredible service. Without it my situation would have turned for the worse.
This office is very efficient, easy to find and extremely friendly. I didn't end up buying glasses at this location however they did have a really great selection. I called to have my prescription sent to me and they emailed it to me within minutes.
Went for an eye test. Very efficiently run service.
Island eyecare is amazing, they made me feel completely taken care of and answered all of my questions. The front desk staff were fun and interactive. They also have competitive prices which makes me happy to have them as a one-stop shop for my eye care. Their new space is modern and appealing.
There was a small catch for buying the the second pair of glasses that wasn't mentioned , I did notice it did cost more $$ then mentioned while selling me my second pair .. honesty is so important to me , and it wasn't 100% at the time of my visit . Doctor was absolutely amazing ... the frame seller was tlreally pushy and rude, for example... the glasses I was trying on touched my cheeks when I smiled so it limited frames but while I was showing her my issue she replied , do you always have to make that face? I'm like well thats how I smile .... 5 stars for the doctor zero stars for sales lady .
Friendly professional service. Staff were great a helping me find the most flattering style of eyewear to suit my face and budget.
This was my first visit to Island eye care ..I was very impressed with the professionalism ..of all their interest in meeting my needs and adapting to my requests ...in their cleanliness during Covid 19... They have won my business!!!
Great doctor. Not great staff.
Amazing service - top quality! Highly recommend.
Awesome alert ???? :) 5/5 Customer service & product was absolutely on point. The Knowledgeable & helpful staff made for a genuinely great experience picking out the ideal Frames and lenses for me and my daughter . We Would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for solid, family friendly EyeCare ????????????????
Dr. Anita Narang is incredibly kind, genuine, personable, and great at identifying issues with my eye health.
Enily was super nuce and very friendly. Lizel was able to quuckly find a frame for me and was extremely knowlegeable and kind.
Super friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff!! Dr.Narang is Amazing! You can tell she really cares about her patients and Loves what she does. I would definitely go back and highly recommend.
I have been going here for years, and I am always treated very well! Kind and knowledgeable
Average .
I've been going there for years. My wife got pressured into a second pair of "Free glasses" That brought her bill to almost a thousand dollars. She was told it would take two weeks to get glasses, so we called the next day to cancel it. We were treated very rudely by the Brenna, who works reception. She finally allowed us to speak to one of the owners, who agreed to remove the second pair and lower the cost. They then didn't actually refund it. We called back, and were told they needed to contact the people making the lenses. Then they emailed saying to cancel the order, we'd have to pay 50%. My wife then called, and asked to be contacted by someone. The same person, Brenna, was very rude to her and refused. I will never recommend this place. I once had the person help me with lenses, i have a small frame and she told me i was picking 'girl' glasses and should get something bigger. To my shame, i then got the more expensive glasses.
The people were super nice to me and the place was very covid safe. The guy that helped pick my glasses was also very clear on knowing what shape fit my face best (which was really nice as ive never been able to find the right shape) and I got a really sweet deal on the pair as well. Very kind people, welcoming environment, and good service!
Knowledgeable and helpful staff throughout the clinic. Dr. Narang answers any and all questions thoroughly and is incredibly friendly to her clients
Dr Narrang was very nice to me. She was gentle and listened to me .. after inqas not left lone to choose glasses. I had help and more help to see what glasses suits the best. I also got one free glasses. I'd recommend island care . They have the friendliest staff.
Dr. Narang is very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. She takes the time to explain the exam and the results and answered all of my questions. The staff were also very helpful and really friendly. The bonus is that they've recently reduced their prices so now you can a great experience and affordable glasses all in one stop!
Super friendly and answered all my questions - gave me the service that was lacking in a different optometry clinic.
Excellent service. Knowledgable staff. A totally wonderful experience.
Beautiful store the doctor is top notch and the lattes are delicious
I had a great experience with the service. Very friendly and helpful. Thank you Linda
Provided a comprehensive exam. The staff and service were excellent.
I searched lots of sites for the frames i wanted...No one had them and if they did the price was almost triple...prompt delivery, authentic...Thank you very much for your service.
The most detailed eyes exam check I’ve ever had in 40 years of glasses with professional right priced products
Highly informative session with Dr. Narang. I left the appointment with all of my questions answered, and a smile on my face. I highly recommend!
I was ripped off by Island Eyecare. Over the phone I was quoted $58 for my appointment. When I came, I waited for nearly one hour, then the doc saw me for 2 mins and charged $85. On top of that I never received the requisition I asked for to have my eye surgery. Waste of time and money.
The best selection of frames in Victoria. I think I visited nearly every eyewear shop downtown, and Island Eyecare had so many great styles that it was hard to choose. The staff were friendly and helpful, as well as patient with my indecisiveness. I wound up getting two pairs: regular eyeglasses plus a pair of prescription sunglasses, and it turned out that they offered a significant discount for second pair. I highly recommend them.
The staff are amazing and very friendly. They continuously acknowledged me while I waited before, between, and after my appointment. Definitely recommend them. I loved my optometrist she was lively, talkative, and very entertaining.
Staff is extremely friendly! We used a groupon and happy we found our new home for eye care! We will return again for sure!
I went for my first appointment today. Dr. Narang is hands down the best optometrist I've ever been to. She provided such comprehensive care with absolutely fantastic bedside manner. I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you're looking for a new optometrist, I strongly suggest you book in with her. Above & beyond that, the sales/administrative staff are wonderful & so helpful! Just a great experience across the board. Who knew you could look forward to getting your eyes checked!
I've been wearing glasses for 15 years and I LOVE this place. Tons of selection, my optometrist was excellent, and I've been back for a few glasses adjustments at no extra charge. The staff are awesome. I even used a Groupon for my initial visit with no hassle.
GROUPON BUYER BEWARE My last yea'rs Groupon experience with Island Eyecare started with an up-sell, then did not follow through on MULTIPLE requests for my contact prescription resulting from the exam nor a needed cataract referral NOR did they transfer my records to another optometrist. This resulted in my having to pay another $90 + exam fee to finally get the services I needed, by which time the Goupon for contacts and contact exam expired.
They have great customer service and follow pandemic protocols. There is a two for $550 progressive glasses sale right now. (Nov 2020) It wasn’t clear to me that the sale was for only Yellow Tagged items. After trying on many non applicable glasses and deciding on a frame, I finally understood the sale items criteria. Yellow tagged frames are in a drawer separate from regular frames. If they had been better at identifying “yellow tags only” when I first arrived, I would have given them 5 ⭐️. There are lots of really nice frames in the yellow tag section. In fact I found frames that I liked better than the full priced glasses!
Had a great experience here from start to finish. Very pleased
They cracked my lenses from removing them. Cheap glasses with paint wear after only 6 months of normal wear. Poor customer service. Not worth your time
Excellent service and no waits.
I hadn't had an eye exam in over 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and thorough the eye exam was, and how helpful the staff was with selecting frames - Dr. Narang runs a great shop.
The absolute best & most thorough optometrist (Dr Narang), and excellent service & prices for lenses and frames. I purchased two new sets of glasses there weeks ago, and it was a great experience. No pressure from the opticians, and explanations as to what would be best for my particular prescription and intended uses. One of the only places in the city with the equipment for customizing High Def lenses to your personal vision. Everything was ready within about a week which was sooner than expected (why would you want them to rush sooner the production of something that important). If you're looking at reviews now, you're probably serious about finding the best combination of quality, service and value, and I have no hesitation recommending them as tops.
I love this place. Do you know how hard it is to walk into an eye doctor store and find frames that you find fashionable and that fit right? They're either fitted to the head of an 11 year old and pressed against my temples or so big that I feel like Jess on "New Girl" (I may want to be fashionable but I'm too old to go back to the '80s just yet.) Anyway, I really liked the salesperson. He helped me find the frame I was looking for after I showed him a few that I liked that weren't quite right, he pulled two off the shelf and then asked me to wait a minute and brought something out from the stockroom that had just come in yesterday. They were perfect. Slightly angular but not those big square glasses either. We talked about the lenses. They are very educated here and explain everything that happens as they go along. I even learned some new things about allergies in the springtime. I didn't end up making an appointment yet because of my budget, but the salesperson was super sweet anyway. I'll come back here the next time that I"m in town and have time. My doctor in Seattle might not be too happy though. No pressure sales.
Went in for an eye exam and had a lovely time. Staff were courteous and helpful. Dr. Narang was considerate, informative and didn't pressure me into anything. Afterwards, staff were equally as kind getting me into a new pair of glasses – I'm quite picky and they were very patient. All in all, I will certainly be using Island Eyecare anytime I need vision care.
So when I moved here from Vancouver I was looking for a place to get new contacts and glasses on groupon. That is how I chose this place. It offered a contact lense exam and $100 towards a year supply of lenses. The contacts were $340 (2 6packs that were $85 each for each eye) and my actual exam wasn't considered a basic one and got an charge (mentioned in the small print). Also, $40 of the $100 off was a rebate I had to mail in myself which was not mentioned in the ad. My actual complaint is not about the shocking bill, but that I was given the incorrect rebate voucher. The bill was so much larger than anticipated so I made a payment on the spot (end of 2016) and the next in (2017) and was given the incorrect rebate voucher, one for 2017 only which did not match my receipt so my voucher was not valid to mail in. When I called to see what could be done about it I was told they didn't have any 2016 vouchers left and that a manager would contact me. I never received a call or a response to the email I sent in asking for an update after my phone call. - Joanna (regretting my choice and still on the market for an optometrist in Victoria)
Dr. Narang is amazing and puts so much care and time in to her patients. She is very knowledgeable and ensures you receive the best care. The staff are quite pleasent and also ensure you receive the best attention.
I found my way to Island Eyecare Optometrists through way of google reviews, so I think it's necessary that I add further praise. The staff had me laughing and feeling extremely comfortable. As well, they were very knowledgable in their frames and were helpful in assisting me to find the perfect fit for a new pair of glasses. I would highly recommend others to visit Island Eyecare, and will most certainly be revisiting for my next eye exam in 2 years time!
My spouse and I both had appointments here the other day, and were very pleased. They have great covid protocols, amazing customer service, fair pricing, knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of frames. They also have great time management and got us in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Go see them you won't be disappointed.
Friendly, helpful, good prices
Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff
Great experience. Dr. Narang is thorough, friendly, and obviously skilled at what she does. The clinic was well equipped. I left with contact lenses and noticed the selection of frames is great (buy one get one free as well as a large selection of sunglasses that you can include in the deal). The staff were all knowledgeable, friendly, and really helpful taking time to explain what the tests were and answering my questions about them. They also do direct billing. Would definitely recommend:)
Since the moment I phoned to make an appointment, until it was all over, everyone I dealt with was very friendly, funny and personable. It was really a comfortable and pleasant experience. The clinic/store looks brand new. I was offered amazing coffee while waiting for my eyes to dilate. Dr. Narang was great, easy to talk to and she was very professional. I felt like I was in good hands. After my appointment, I made some inquiries, and found out the Dr. Narang has a good reputation, so that made me feel even better, as this was my first visit.
Friendly staff, great promotions, and a very nice looking location! Dr. Anita is super friendly, knowledgeable, and great to talk to... She's very funny too! And I like doctors that make me laugh... UPDATE: Hate to do this - but I'm changing my 5 starts to 2 . Not to be reflected on Dr. Anita -she's still amazing.... But... it's been two months since my initial appointment, and I'm still waiting for lenses. I'm really glad my vision is not terrible, and that I can live without glasses, but it's really disappointing. The lenses came in on time, and they rejected them due to quality control - when they didn't call me back, I called and they told me that I had cancelled the request because I didn't want them anymore... (already paid... YEAH RIGHT!!!!). And now, apparently the lenses are in, and it's always "one more business day, and we'll call you...." UGH!!!! The last few days are the worst... it just feels like they don't care - but they are REALLY NICE ABOUT IT!!! SECOND UPDATE: Another downgrade down to one star... I can't believe how much these people have LIED to me! And there is absolutely no need for it... Insignificant lies, really... or maybe they have a serious internal communication issue... FINAL UPDATE: Jag made it all better. Promised that adjustments to their processes have been made and he proved it. Thank you!!!
Thorough detailed explanations of eye conditions & prognosis in a friendly professional manner, I am impressed By Dr. Narang's competence and am very happy that I chose her for a new exam & prescription. The staff I dealt with at reception and frame fitting, Jo and Sarah, were also very professional & personable making my visit to the Oak Bay office one I will look forward happily to repeating when due.
$95 for a perception makes these guys more expensive per hour then a high priced lawyer. They offer no incentives and no discounts of any kind, my ordinary glasses would end up costing me $694 you've got to be fu¢king kidding me!
I go to the Fort location. Everyone is very friendly and professional. The place is beautiful and looks like a woman-owned business. Dr Narang runs a tight ship. She is very busy but thorough and always friendly. She adds discounts where she can and gives away free contact solution so you’ll take care of your eyes. Check with your health care insurance provider and time your visit so it’ll be covered and you’re not shocked at the end. Happened to me once ????
I had the best experience here! All of the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Dr. Narang is knowledgeable, kind, and hilarious! Thank you for all of your help!
Great staff, amazing and new technology to help find the perfect prescription with a great selection of frames. Highly recommend!
Dr. Narang is fantastic. Highly recommend to anyone.
Friendly Knowledgable staff. Cutting edge equipment, direct billing to some insurance plans. I felt all of the staff went out of their way to treat me well.
Appreciated Dr. Narang's demeanor, very informative and helpful. A lovely person who communicates well.
I went in for an eye exam. I was handed over to a glasses sales rep promptly after my exam. (They presumed I wanted to purchase glasses from them.). I politely declined and asked for my prescription. The doctor then informed me that if I wanted to fill my prescription elsewhere that would be fine (I know it's fine that's why I asked for it!) She also told me that I wouldn't be able to walk in to their store to purchase glasses, that I would need to book an appointment in advance. If this is how they conduct their business, that's their prerogative, but I find it unusual and off-putting. They did not provide me with my prescription, even though I specifically asked for it. This was the purpose of my visit, and what I paid for. (I thought they had because the receptionist handed me a printout with my receipt.). It wasn't until I got home that I realized the error and had to go back. When I calmly explained the situation there was no apology. The receptionist was blasé. I suspect that the staff abide by an unwritten rule not to release prescriptions unless the client specifically asks. There were 3 receptionists attending to me exclusively when I left and not one noted that I didn't have my prescription in hand. But they remembered to charge me and suggest that I book a follow-up, and send me a text prompting me to review. (I deliberated for a long time before posting this review because I don't want to harm a small business, and the doctor and staff were quite lovely and skilled, in spite of all this. I just strongly suspect that this is a high-pressure retail environment with a medical veneer.)
I purchased a fantastic pair of frames following my eye exam - I receive compliments everywhere I go. The fellow helping me took great care in assisting me to try on whichever frames I fancied, and had great taste in his suggestions and feedback. The pair I purchase were actually his pick. I'm going back for contacts too ...
Exactly what I was looking for. I hate the way I look in glasses so I wanted a place where they know how to match your look to a good pair of glasses. At one point there were three employees giving me imlut on how they looked. I loved the experience and will only use Island Eyecare going forward
Absolutely loved. I didn’t realize my one eye was not being treated for astigmatism with my contacts. That fix alone was worth it. Loved the friendly staff, the professionalism and the fast and effective service. Walked out seeing better than I have in a couple of years and I didn’t even know something was wrong! Already recommended.
A pleasant and welcoming staff. They make picking out eye wear easy and fun. lots of stylish glasses.
I had a 10/10 experience at this place. I’m a diabetic and this Dr was the most knowledgeable and helpful that I have met thus far. The rest of the staff where fantastic too and the sun glass and glasses selection was top drawer. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who values their eye sight and is looking for a excellent pair of shades.
Continued great service and great staff!
Anita and the gang at Island Eyecare are phenomenal! Extremely knowledgeable, kind, and personable. It's apparent that they are invested in your eye health and ensuring affordable eye care for all. I cannot recommend them enough.
Totally good experience.
I brought my prescription sunglasses in for a simple repair, despite having had purchased them elsewhere, and the desk staff fixed them free of charge.
I went in to get my glasses after many years of getting it online....finally realize what i was missing....very knowledgeable, professional and efficient staff (Lizel) in helping me chose the frames from wide selection and good prices. Her feedback was so valuable and honest not just making a sale. Took a while but she was there all along. Thanks to Emily for her patience and accommodating me later even at short notice for several visits for adjustments...they even did adjustments to my other glasses that I purchased online. I am so happy with my 2 progressive glasses...just love it and fits so well...never buying glasses on line again ever. Thanks for the experience.
Everyone is professional, knowledgeable and friendly at Island Eye Care!
Poor customer service. There is only one salesperson and they double book your appointment with other people. The front desk agents were not very helpful on price or assuring that their company supports a good quality product. Prices are twice that of Costco. Unsure if the pandemic has made them increase costs to stay in business or other reasons. Will not be back.
All of the staff were accommodating, friendly and just amazing especially Dr. Narang! They’re all a ball of sunshine. ☺️
I haven’t had an eye exam in well… I don’t really remember. And I can’t see. It’s bad. I’ve been using gnarly, old disposable contacts and janky, flat glasses for years. I had to bring my two small babies to my appointment with me and was nervous. This was the best appointment I’ve ever had to go to. The staff was amazing. All of them. So honest and helpful. I laughed the whole time, my kids were treated like gold and in the end I was fitted with beautiful glasses and the proper contacts. I’m looking forward to bringing all (four) of my kids back to get eye exams and have another amazing experience.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Dr. Narang is also extremely knowledgeable, friendly and delightful to talk with. She wants to do all she can to improves clients’ vision as much as possible in ways that are comfortable for clients. Service and assessment is thorough, with significant time for questions and conversation. I highly recommend Island Eyecare.
Welcoming space, delightful professionals, and excellent service...I feel well looked after by all.
The Doctor is great, she is friendly and professional. Last time I was there (2years ago) I had a bad experience ordering my glasses. She promised to make it up to me. My experience this time was worlds better. Again professional and friendly. The only feedback I would suggest is that as someone who has worked in service for over 25 years that when reception answers the phone and asks the caller to hold, that they pause long enough to get a response before putting the call on hold. Some people don’t have the liberty of waiting and would prefer a call back.
My Daughter had been a satisfied customer for about 3 years when I decided to follow her lead. I have now been a satisfied customer since about 2010. I definitely recommend Dr. Narang and her capable crew.
I came in for a first time visit, super blind human over here, and was in desperate need of contacts. They were super fast, extremely helpful and friendly and had a lot of options that were helpful and inexpensive... super happy with these guys and would definitely recommend !
I went there the first time and the staff were nice but the cost was ridiculous. To see if I can buy eye contact lenses they make you pay 60$ to see if you can get them in your eye first and they dont really help you much. They literally charged me 60$ just to attempt to put one pair of contact lenses in. ON top of that the second time I went in I tried using two differnt kinds of insurance to pay for the 600$ visit that obviously used up all my post secondary coverage and the husband of the main doctor Narang suggested that if I didnt have the money that I go somewhere else. Since I am spending so much money I am going somewhere else now hopefully it goes well.
I went to Island Eyecare because I was experiencing loss of vision in one of my eyes and their website said they provided emergency appointments for situations like that. I explained to the woman behind the counter why I was there and was told she wished she could fit me in but that the doctor was busy and would be very upset, but was offered an appointment in 3 days. She was dismissive, unhelpful and I am assuming under trained. I wouldn't suggest anyone with emergent eye issues go here, I got wonderful treatment at the ER.
I’ve gone here twice now for an eye exam and glasses and have to say the staff is absolutely wonderful. Would and will recommend them to ANYONE.
Different staff each visit. 1st pair ordered clear glass, came in tinted. Waited for almost 4 weeks for prescription sunglasses as a second set, only to have them tell me that they had to re-order. Avoid this gong show!
I cannot stress enough how happy I am that I am a client here Everyone is extremely friendly and provide exceptional service and advice Dr Anita is beyond amazing - so friendly and her knowledge and expertise is incredible
Bought two pairs of eyeglasses from an interesting selection of frames last year. Came in today to have one of them adjusted free of charge. While waiting, I saw a pair I really liked that would be great to have as a spare at work. They kept my prescription record, offered good advise and options. They did not try to sell me more than what I needed. In the end, I got a great deal and they will email me once it is ready for pick up. I will be back and will recommend them to friends and relatives.
Visits are always efficient and on time, This clinic has the latest technology and Dr Anita is very professional and very sweet at the same time!
First eye exam since I was a child & the staff actually made it a fun learning experience! Highly reccomend
Everybody in the office is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely in a good mood. The examiner was very descriptive of all processes happening during the various scans, and everyone was very helpful with choosing the right frame to suit my face, as well as going over all options available to me for lenses.
The doctor at island eye care is great but the optician here is a different story. I took my recently purchased glasses in because the right lens seemed to be blurry compared to the left lens. I asked if maybe the initial prescription may have been off a bit and basically he gave me every BS line in the book and made me feel stupid for asking. I left the store when I realized I was getting nowhere. Again, the doctor here is great, but the optician needs some customer service training.
Do not go to this store!!!!! Stay away!!!!! And filter the reviews by the negatives to see reality! The optometrist is great, but the manager is a bully and twists everything to be your fault should you make a complaint. I bore the brunt of his verbal abuse 2 years ago and told the staff that I will never be served by him again or come into the store if he is present. Yesterday I overheard and witnessed him abusing another customer and walked out in solidarity. I pity the staff, they are entirely new from my last visit. High turnover says a lot about management. If you are the owner, contact me. And watch the body language on your security cams around 2:30 pm Mar 20. It may have no sound, but it will speak volumes. Re: Management response focussed on this event only, but interestingly ignored the fact that I also had been subjected to this person's gaslighting and abuse two years before. How many others has this person done this to? Customer service statistics state that for every 1 person who makes a complaint, there are at least 10 who don't bother. Again, stay away!
I wish I could leave more stars. Dr. Anita Narang and her husband are amazing. They are passionate, funny, positive people who really prioritize your care no matter how busy, and this attitude trickles down throughout their staff. Expect a warm greeting, laughter, and a pair of glasses you are really happy with.
Staff are so efficient and friendly. Doctor Narang is amazing. Knows her stuff and makes the appointments so comfortable.
Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable service from optometrist,Anita as well as the sales assistants.Beautiful space with great selection of eyewear.
It was always friendly, attentive and very professional. I'm sorry to leave them, But once i found out that I couldn't find the place and wondered around for 1 and 1|\2 hours. I decided that another eye place in the village where I could find eye care.
I purchased glasses from Island Eyecare in April. Unfortunately, they chipped this summer and had to be repaired, they were still under warranty. I was told it was due to the original edging of the glasses and there was a mistake making them. They took three weeks to repair the lenses, and what I received back was horrifying. My prescription is +1.75 and +2.25 and the lenses looked like coke bottles when I originally paid for thin lenses. The glass measured 0.7 cm thick. When I called in to speak with the optician there was no resolution besides being offered to pay an additional $140-240 for thinner lenses after being told that "that is the way they are made". I asked to speak with the owner who did not call me back for 4 business days and didn't have time to speak to me and put it off to one of the front desk ladies to deal with, who wasn't much help. I am disgusted with the service I received here, people should not go into this industry to make a dollar off of people needing glasses and this is clearly what mattered more to this facility rather than making sure their customers have functional, comfortable glasses that they are happy with. I spent over 450 dollars here. I got a second opinion from another eye-wear store and they then let me know that my replacement lenses did not have a blue light filter and that they would fix my lenses for a discounted rate because they felt so terrible that I had to wear them! If you want terrible service and poor quality glasses, go to Island Eyecare.
Terrible experience. Will never trust this business with eye wear ever again. Had my glasses refitted with new lenses and the condition they were returned in was atrocious. There is complete discoloration of the frames with a white film now covering the majority of it. Upon picking up the glasses and seeing the condition I made an appointment to discuss the condition with the salesperson/glasses adjuster that had assisted me the day of the appointment. When I arrived for the scheduled appointment this person was not there and instead met with someone else that had not originally assisted me. This person told me the condition of the glasses was due to previous wear and tare, likely from UV-rays. I have had these (expensive) glasses for under four years and have never had a white grainy discoloration until I received them after refitting. The person continued to reiterate that the business only deals with the lenses and only uses a "water-like" substance for cleaning the frames. I am upset that I requested an appointment with my original sales person, made an appropriate appointment, and was not given that appointment. This original person had complemented my frames on their beauty and style when I handed them over to be cared for and they were returned to me stylistically ruined. Side note: the high level of customers in the store during the initial visit not only made the appointment far longer than expected but also seemed risky given COVID-19.
I was very impressed with Dr. Narang - this was the most intelligent eye exam I have ever had. She listened, she was friendly, funny, patient, informative, and her equipment was the best I have seen. And I finally have an answer to a vision problem other optometrists have missed for years. Thank you Dr. Narang - wish I could give you more stars!
Island Eyecare has an amazing Optometrist and team, who will make you laugh and feel at home and get your eyesight fixed and in amazing name brand fames at affordable prices.
Genuinely the friendliest optometrist office I’ve ever been too. I had such a pleasant experience and will definitely be going back.
fantastic staff who takes pleasure in helping customers. They found glasses that fit my budget and they are stylish too.
Amazing as always! Dr Narang has cured my dry eyes and I went in yesterday for new contacts and she and her team gave awesome customer service ! Love this place! Also love the lattes while waiting ;) thanks again!
these guys ran a scam groupon, everything there is way overpriced, and they have an annoying robo caller.
Good selection with good pricing.
It is a pleasure dealing with Dr. Narang. Her explanations and recommendations are clear and concise. The people that work with Dr. Narang are very nice. Highly recommended.
Excellent service and accountability. Dr Narang is very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommended.
I really appreciated the professional, friendly and efficient advice. Each of the staff members I interacted with, including the owner/doctor, were very competent and very helpful. I highly recommend Island Eyecare to anyone that needs to see an optometrist in Victoria. If I could give six out of five stars I would!
From start to finish all this business was about was selling. I went there for a eye exam which went okay. In between the eye exam (which included one for contacts), I was sent to the eyeglass person (who was nice) but basically as soon as I said I wasn't interested buying anything in buying, I got ignored.un Until that is that I went back in to the optometrist who tried to get me to buy overpaid contacts. After that, I again was basically ignored again until I had sat there about 20 minutes just waiting for my prescriptions. Then came the bill. Paid for it (way to much for a contact exam), and had them bill email me the receipt. I had thought it was high but just wanted out of there. It took 3 phone calls to get a itemized bill, the last they literally hung up on me even though I just asked to make sure the email had a "attachment" on it. I get my bill and there is a $20 cancellation charge on it. Yes, I did cancel, but this was in the first week of Phase 2 and I woke up not feeling great and extremely anxious about the appointment. Canceled. Made a new appointment. No problem. There was never a mention of a cancellation fee...ever, not by phone, not by email, not on their website. When I finally got my bill I reached out to them about the charge. Basically I was told that all they could do was give me $20 off my next visit and that they had had this policy for 10 years; this was my first. How would I know that? Every email was basically, you paid, nothing you can do about it. And they are right. I went to this business because they were local, close and frankly..open. All they seem to care about is Selling. Especially during the first couple of weeks of Covid open up, I was appalled by how they treated me. As soon as I said I was only there for the exam I was ignored and gauged. Never again.
Top notch service from eye exam to the selection process of my new glasses. Lizelle was very helpful in helping my glasses fit right and went above and beyond in making sure everything was perfect. Highly recommend Island Eye Care!
Great service and frames choice.
They were fast, efficient and very helpful with helping me find my new pair of glasses. They were honest about what suited me and the whole process was very pleasant.
I had an annual check up and decided to try this place. Doctor was okay but suggested to take supplements for Omega3. While I was waiting for the result which I don’t think I would have to wait for an hour, I was asked to check out all glasses. As soon as I said I’m buying frames in Japan (because it’s atoudn $50), they stoped caring about me. At check out, my bill was higher than expected because they charged for supplements the doctor suggested. I refused because Omega3 pills should not be that expensive and they were not happy that I refused to purchase. This place is all about upsell and I will not go back.
The folks here were so patient and helpful! I got overwhelmed with options and prices so they took it slow, found something in my price range, and I now have the best vision I've had in almost a decade. Thank you for making good vision accessible to me. ❤
Very knowledgeable, rather proficient staff in all areas of eyecare. Efficient, friendly and helpful. I have interacted with several optometrists/opticians over the 40 years I've needed corrective lenses, and this outfit is very, very good. Didn't give 5 stars cuz I've only been there once so far.
Totally UNTRUSTWORTHY and tells you anything to make a sale. Even the doctor here tells you that if you don't wear correction for your eyes that it will make your eyes worse over time. I've been to SEVERAL different optometrists and asked them all the same question, and ALL of them have told me that it is NOT TRUE. One very well respected optometrist even said that it's basically just "a good sales line." Do not believe what these liars tell you! While it's true that not wearing glasses can cause headaches and eye strain, not wearing correction DOES NOT make your vision worse, and everyone who tells you otherwise is a liar. I will be reporting these people to the College of Optometrists and the Better Business Bureau, and if you've been swindled by them as well, you should too.
Outstanding service. Would highly recommend Dr. Narang.
I’m still fairly new to Victoria, so kind of picked Island Eyecare at random. I am incredibly happy with the customer service I experienced from start to finish. Very welcoming atmosphere, Dr. Narang answered all of my questions and selecting my frames at the end of my appointment was a blast! I would highly recommend Island Eyecare to anyone.
Went here for years and had great service from the front help as well as the eye doctor. Went to get my eyes re-examined and nothing but confusion. They hadn't done the necessary paperwork when I arrived nor did they tell me they had moved, so I went to the old building. I ordered glasses than they were never ordered nor was I ever contacted. I will be going to a new eye doctor.
Dr. Narang is extremely knowledgeable! Her staff are delightful! Everyone is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is high end polished with a very comfortable esthetic. To be honest I've never had so much fun going to a doctor's appointment!
