Recently staff are not helpful, i think they have gone through a change as the best staff seem to have left. We ha e been rebuilding for 4 years and seen a rapid decline in their effectiveness The current staff ,or at least 70%, are not knowledgable. Their websit is terrible, they are the most expensive and not interested in your time or money. It is very disappointing as we have spent 1000,s in the past years but now use Planing mill (much cheaper for lumber and very knowledgeable)and Canadian tire for everything else. n the past years

I went with my mother specifically to expose myself and my young in training service dog to a new and different situation. When sliding the chest high wallboard out it startled my Service dog. She let out a single bark. I stepped forward to bring her closer and as we slide it out again she let out another single bark. A male staff member appeared he was rude said "No dog's in the store" despite the service dog vest. I started to explain that she was my personal young in training service dog. I offered my card and stated I had a digital copy of my Doctors letter. He then said that people abuse the service dog thing and then very rudely started asking very personal questions about why I had the need of a service dog. What was my reason. Once my mother said fine we are leaving I will drive to Smiths Falls and purchase the products there. He relented and said to stay. Ok ???????? chose to leave. My dog never barked at a single person is exceptionally well trained and behaved.

Home hardwares are located in small remote towns and are usually tiny sad looking stores but this one is big, clean and they do carry quite a bit. This one looks like a Canadian Tire.

We bought a dishwasher from this store and discovered after installation that our plates and baking sheets didn't fit (had no problems with previous appliances). We received no help from staff or management who said too bad you should have known your dinner plates are oversized (we didn't) and even if we traded it for you, they wouldn't fit in any of the appliances we carry. Management was almost rude. We thought we were going to have to sell it (for less than purchase price of course), buy a new one and pay for installation – a loss of a few hundred dollars. *Luckily for us* the dishwasher broke down and when the Frigidaire tech came out to fix it, I told him about the dishes not fitting and he instantly reinstalled the top rack in a different position and problem solved! All that stress for nothing, if only HH had known their product. I'm sorry to say that we will be hesitant in bringing our business to them again after this experience.

I went to the lumber desk and asked a question to a young man who didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Got so upset I turned and walked out and went to home depot and was well satisfied with their service. Home hardware Perth sucks. I will never go back!

Ive shopped here a few times. Got several Christmas gifts from here at reasonable prices and have purchased lawn ornaments here too. I love the flamingos they had this past summer so much that I couldn't resist in buying one. Staff is friendly and the store is neat and clean.

I have always liked Home Hardware, as it's a Canadian brand. I try very hard to purchase my home improvement needs here. The Perth store is very nice, and most staff are good - gentleman at lumber desk (Neil?), nice older man in lighting...but I have had a few incidences with rude employees. Wandered the paint department for 15 minutes while staff were merchandising / doing inventory - they saw me, but neither of the ladies asked if I needed help finding something. They carried on with their tasks. When they finally asked if I need help, I just said no, and left. I think they try to be helpful, and kind - but somehow it just doesn't work. I still like the store, and I will shop there as much as I can. But my first choice is usually Home Depot - their customer service is top notch.

Will never return for paint. Old woman at the paint desk with the initials JS, not the other woman Mary who is absolutely amazing, has given my grandmother, myself and my grandfather a hard time every single time we have tried to get paint from this location. extremely rude, condescending and unwilling to help. constantly interrupts when trying to explain for 50th time what type of paint we want and for some reason needs the paint can when told we dont have the paint can and we just want an eggshell base for an interior space. completely rude and disrespectful and completely unbelievable when compared to the rest of the amazing staff at this store :(

went to drop off a package for UPS. They lost the package and don't know where it went. They didn't give me a receipt or anything for the package. Now I'm trying to figure out what the hell is going on and where this package went. If you have to make a delivery, go straight to ups... AVOID this place if you don't want to lose your packages.

We purchased a display model patio set and had to cart him in different ‘loads’. The staff were friendly, helpful and so accommodating for us. They remembered us as we entered to pick up more pieces - just a most pleasant shopping experience. Highly recommended.

Great range of products. Most staff are awesome. Guy at construction desk is kinda grumpy. I didn't like that because his attitude was like.."..duhhh don't you get it??". Uh, no, that's why I'm asking you! Sorry if it means you have to take a little time to give me some options. Another peeve is that voice mail says call back. Why not give your hours especially on a public holiday so I know whether to make the 40 minute trip into town. Other than that, it's a great store!

A great place to shop, for the absolute best Service! I have been shopping at the Perth Home Hardware for 15 years. Each and every time, I am amazed at the quality of service that I receive. The store owner (Richard Ellard) has created a culture amongst all employees to provide the best possible service. All staff are experienced, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely wanting to help. What else could I ask for? My most recent experience was with Mike on the Lumber Desk. I needed a Fendock right away, but unfortunately the backlog was 1 month. Mike helped me through all the details of the parts required, used his personal connections with Fendock, expedited my purchase, and I received it in less than 1 week. Mike was proactive, helpful, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. He called me several times to update me on the progress of the order and delivery. Thank you Mike! This is why I will ALWAYS shop at Perth Home Hardware.

Needed some number 8 wood screws close to 4:00 on Sunday, a quick run in and out...an individuals named “Mike” in hardware helped us briefly ( after I asked for help) then stared at us struggling to find matching washers. Sensing anxiety from him and others, I asked what time they closed. He pointed both thumbs towards the ground and said “right now.” Obviously, not well trained in customer relations and Human Resources needs to more throughly evaluate. Happy retirement “Mike” I think that’s all he’s really interested in. Instructed my kitchen remodelling contractor to purchase absolutely nothing from this store!

I will not return to the paint department. Every visit so far has been an insulting experience. The woman with the short grey hair, glasses, and snippy attitude has done it for me. She needs extensive training in customer service and reminded that it involves more than knowledge of the products, but also a personality that won't be offensive. Today is May 16, 2020.

Have heard stories from many unsatisfied customers. Staff are rude and would rather you contact the manufacturer yourself if the product you have purchased from their store is clearly defective and does not function properly. Will not be doing any further business at this location, and I encourage everyone else to be aware. Instead look for a business that treats customers with respect and back their products.

Was trying to finish a project yesterday afternoon and ran out of rust paint. Thought, no problem it isn't quite 5:30, 20 mins to store, lots of time to run in and grab paint. Drove into parking lot at 5:51, ran to door, it was locked. Tried looking in, no notice of early closure, power failure or anything, checked clock on phone, watched someone come out of exit door, then saw a staff member go to lock exit doors. Went walking towards him and he rudely told me the store was closed. I said that it wasn't 6 pm yet and he said yes it was. Went to car, started it, car clock said 5:54 pm. Drove by Canadian Tire and saw people still going in and out of doors... Wasted 40 mins of my time and gas, was lied to and insulted by implication that I couldn't read a digital clock. Never stepping foot in the store again.

Having embarked on a 2400sq. Ft. Fixer upper I am becoming woefully acquainted with too many home supply companies. Perth Home Hardware has pretty well made my number 1 go to for, electrical, plumbing, heating, masonary, and wood supply. Oddly Home Hardwares line of Purina poultry feed caught my eye, price is above average, however consumption is down and production in hard times is 400 percent at cost savings on feed of 15 percent. Further there is cost efficiency in basic coop supplies if you stay wise. Good friendly staff and there are always lots and never are they too busy to help. Im to the point they can tel how i am dressed, how dirty i am, and the look on my face which way they are taking me to fill my cart with pleasure!

I have spent a lot of money at this store since moving into Perth last year. They don't always have what I need, but as my first choice, they don't let me down often. The staff are (mostly) friendly and knowledgeable. And their setup during the pandemic FAR outstrips the competition - the fact that I can call to request something and pick it up 10 minutes later is SO much better than ordering online and waiting two days for them to grab stuff that's in stock.

Super disappointed that I can’t go back. renovated 2 houses with this location, but cause they don’t allow medical exemptions in the store I now will support the box chains that accept my medical condition. Reason I’m leaving 3stars instead of 1star is cause the owner “Richard” helped me load my plywood as he kindly told me I can no longer shop inside the store due to the staffs concerns.
