Awful experience. Booked an eye exam here expecting it to be done by an optometrist because it says "optometrist office" on the door. Found out through New Look Eye Wear (when they took the prescription) that the exam was done by a regular doctor and that we could have gotten an exam from an optometrist at only $10 more. This is false advertising and we are incredibly unhappy, especially because my insurance only covers exams by an actual optometrist. Will be seeking a refund.

Had the best experience with glasses at this location. Great customer service and a huge selection of glasses. I recently got a scratch on one of the lenses and I am so happy I got the warranty at the time of the purchase. The staff was very nice and was able to swap out the old scratched lens for a new one. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Well i have to say for such a large franchise, they have no regard towards there clients. My wife had gone in there on June/3 to purchase a pair of glass seeing as she was due. She selected a set, and confirmed her prescription with their recommend optometrist. Once that was filled out, they said about a week due to them having to send the frames to a Lab in Toronto due to her having Transitions installed, not a problem thus far. A week passes and still nothing, then the get them back about a few days later, she goes to have them properly fitted but she was told that there was an error with the lens fitment and had to be sent back to the lab once again. From that point there was excuse upon excuse, other issues in the lab, being told they we shipped when they we not, etc.... The staff are not knowledgeable, not very polite. They clearly don't care about their clientele. So after three full weeks, no offers for a small refund and no apologies for all the delays, they have proven there is a big lack of professionalism within this company. We will never do business with Hakim Optical again, nor will we ever refer anyone to use their services.

My glasses were almost bent beyond repair and I needed a new wire for a lens. Buddy fixed them for $10 in under an hour. Definitely recommend if you purchased your glasses there, otherwise you might have trouble.

Horrible customer service. I call to see if my glasses are ready this man answers and am told that they are not. I have yet to identify myself or give any information regarding my order. He goes on saying that the store has just received the shipment and it will take at least an hour. I politely state that it's the first time I call since the order placed over 10 business days ago. He says that if my glasses were ready they would have called me by now. I want sure what to respond to that and I hung up. I called again hoping to get a different person on the line. NOPE. I asked for his name or employee Identification and he refused. I asked a second time and he raised his voice and started saying he was about to ask me for my last name but I had hung up. I asked once more to provide his name. He refused. I then expressed my concern about his poor customer service and that I chose to do business with his branch location and that I knew exactly which sale representative he was and that when I came in to the store i was going to make a formal complaint in person.

After having spent over $300 on new glasses, I decided I wanted to purchase a second emergency pair from those online websites like EyeBuyDirect or Zenni which are significantly cheaper since I used up all my insurance. I required my PD which is a measurement taken by the opticians when purchasing glasses. Since they had previously measured my PD, I called to get the measurement and was told I had to come in to get measured again and pay $50 to get it. I found this extremely ridiculous and asked if this is all opticians or just Hakim Optical. I was told it was Hakim Optical. I had been going to this establishment for glasses for over ten years and recommended them to anyone and everyone. They just lost my future business and respect.

I'm not sure what exactly has become of this place. I got my glasses from here a few years back when they were still at their Rideau Street location. Recently, needed new glasses and contact lenses and have never been met with this level of unprofessionalism at an optical store. I had recently gotten an eye test here and inquired about contact lenses. The lady I dealt with in store told me when I was ready to purchase, all I'd need to do is call and request for a fitting, schedule one and be able to meet with the optician. I called a few weeks back, and the man that picked up had NO knowledge of the procedure to schedule a fitting; I asked if there was anyone else that I could speak to and he said he was the only one in the store at the time. He proceeded to take down my name and phone number saying he would give it to the optician along with the details of my request the next day. After a week of hearing nothing back, I called again yesterday about the same thing, and the person I spoke to said to call back the next day as the optician wasn't in at the time. I called the store AGAIN today, and spent my time explaining in detail to the lady on the phone my request. She told me she'd give the phone to someone else that was more knowledgeable in the store. A man picks up the phone and asks me how he can help me in the weirdest tone and I explained to him I had just spoken to the lady on the phone expecting her to have explained the situation to him before handing over the call and he literally said "....ok aaand you didn't talk to me" as if he wasn't an employee and I was asking him a ridiculous question. I had to explain my request AGAIN and he asked me if I had a prescription (which he would've known had he listened to me when I said I got my eyes tested there recently). Out of frustration, I started to complain about the bad customer service I've received since calling the first time, and he kept reiterating that he wasn't the one I spoke to. Never going back to this place again. Please don't waste your time and get your optical needs met elsewhere.

I when shopping today for new glasses, after going through 7 Optical Store my last one i did was Hakim Optical St, Laurent Mall. I was tired and not happy by the price and some weird service that i received from the others but I was pleasantly surprise by my visit at Hakim, they give me a professional and personalize service plus they give me the best best price. They didn't know that I was shopping around, when they told me the price I ask to write it down and run to pick up my wife to choose the right one and bought two pair, I did make sure that all store give me the price on the same thing to compare apple with apple.

Gives you the time to browse and Optometrist even selected pairs of glasses that she thought were a good choice and I ended up going with her selection. Great price and ended up with two pairs. I cannot wait until they are in. Staff are friendly and not pushy. Loved this store!

Called to book an eye exam and specifically asked if the eye doctor was an optometrist (OD) to which they said YES. Had the eye exam and submitted the claim to my insurance to find out it isn't covered because the eye doctor wasn't an OD but an medical doctor (MD). Called the store to ask how this happen and they said they normally have a sign at the cash but admitted it may have not been on display when I went. Very disappointed as I now have to pay out of pocket when my insurance would have covered it.

What can I say about the manager, Hawada at Hakim Optical. The other day she went above and beyond to help me and my son who is in hospital right now. Her commitment was outstanding and she made my son's day a little easier. She even followed up and called to see how we were doing. You don't see that a lot anymore, people who go out of their way to make a difference. She has made a difference with my family and I won't ever forget it! If you plan on getting new glasses, stop by Hakim Optical @ St. Laurent and ask for Hawada!

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I went in for an eye exam and some glasses. I asked the clerk if there was any opening, he was hesitant and I asked if she was done. He audibly went and asked the optometrist only four feet away from me if her next appointment was in. She said no. Than he asked if the person didn't show up, would she mind filling me in instead. AND SHE SAID NO, no walk ins! How lazy can you be that you would rather not recoup money lost from a no show appointment? I would not trust someone with such poor work ethic

Awful experience. The first person I came into contact with was a pleasant woman over the phone who gladly took my information and set my appointment for two weeks after the call. Upon the day of my appointment I decided to verify that my appointment was in the afternoon. I called and some man answered the phone and when I had asked if my 2:00 appointment was scheduled he gave me a sharp no so I thanked him and hung up. I thought maybe I had called the wrong location and I remembered I wrote down in my calendar the day of the call, the location, and phone number just in case. it turned out to be the same number so I figured this time I would call and give him my name just to be 100% sure and upon calling back I got "didn't you just call here? What did I tell you?!" so I asked if he could tell me the name on the 2:00 slot and low and behold they booked over my appointment. Not only was he continuing to be rude after but I was made to feel like I had made a mistake somehow, like I was responsible for their mistake. All I have to say is I refused to book another appointment with them and very quickly realized this was definitely a place I didn't want to give my money to.

Worst possible place ever. They are just crooks. You end up paying $250 for cheap stock frames and lenses under what is supposedly a 50% discount and they have the audacity to want to charge you extra money for what they told you is part of the package you paid for initially. Stay away if possible there’s better places with better services

What a great experience this was Last weekend I lost my sunglasses on trip , end I thought perhaps maybe since I’m on mall will go in check out Hakim optical . As soon as I went , started to look I was greated by employe His asked words where. Good afternoon sir is there anything I can help you today with an amazing smile I said yes end I expalied what hand happen. He said no problem I will help you find something better . He began showing me few pair that I really liked . He was very professional knowledgeable friendly . After few minutes I asked him what was his name he said my name Val end continues to show me more talks about promotion they have he said I could get 2 pair one for everyday one as sunglasses that they hand other type of options I aggred that was a good idea that I would have to come back with wife asked him to put it on hold the frames for me he said no problem sir you are welcome with out being pushy trying to sell me right way which has happen to me I’m past I will recommend all my friends to Vist Hakim optical beacuse of great costumers service I got from Val Thank you

Very pleasant experience dealing with staff who were very friendly and answered my questions without complication. I write that in comparison to my experience with Laurier optical, which was over complicated and in the end, unhelpful to the point of my leaving. Hakim staff told me exactly what I needed to know and how much it would cost. Thanks for the help

I'd give them less than 0 if I could. You pay less, so you get less in the way of service and reliable product. They held on to my glasses (the frame had broken) for three months during the period when the stores were closed due to Covid-19. Finally, they called to say that the frame my lenses were in is no longer available. Their customer service is utter garbage and I strongly recommend that no one do business with them - ever. Note that two Hakim locations - at 150 Montreal Rd. and on Rideau St. are long gone - and that should have been my strongest clue to be wary of them. I've been using old glasses now for over three months, but they are virtually unusable for reading (Hakim never expressed any sympathy for that). Now, I'll have to wait for my next optometrist appointment to get a new prescription, after which I'll deal with an optical store that clearly knows what it's doing and also has a clear understanding of what good customer service really means.

Went in to look at frames after work last week. Was in the store for about 15 minutes, with no acknowledgement from anyone working who were all talking to each other at the cash. Store has no organization at all.. just frames on tables on top of other frames, not organized by designer, style, etc. Went to Laurier optical and received much better service.

The quality is extremely poor for the price. After less than a year my lens fell out and chipped. Hakim would only replace it for a 30% discount. Had the glasses less than a year. Do yourself a favour, order online you can have an entirely new pair of glasses for less than I would have paid to replace 1 lens that broke because the glasses are of poor quality. Dont bother.

Terrible business - Worst Hakim in Ottawa - Employees have no actual knowledge to answer your questions correctly without "umm's" & "maybe's" in the answer. Nasty looking cluttered shelves make it hard to find something decent. Good luck all who dares waste time with this useless location. Hakim should fire the lot and train good people to support a use to be good named business.
