Excellent service for such a specific and personal choice. After another optometrist botched a new pair of progressive glasses, I returned to Hakim, which is far from where I now live but I had had a few pairs of glasses made there. They gave me personalized treatment, explained steps the other optometrist did not, and prepared me for what to expect. I've never felt rushed to make a decision, and every question I have had has been answered fully and in plain language.
As first time customer this was one of the best experiences shopping my wife and I have had. We were unhappy with the optical store in gatineau where we took our eye test. Sandra's service and knowledge of her products was impeccable. Thanks again to Sandra & Rita for making our shopping experince well worth the drive from gatineau. We will definitely be long time customers.
When I called to make an appointment I was greeted and dealt with rudely and when I actually came into the store I wasn't very surprised. There were frames scattered everywhere it looked so disorganized. Their frame selection was awful...I don't understand how they make sales. The lighting was very bad and there was just had a very dated and sad feel to the store. I asked to go to the washroom and it was in a tiny dirty room behind the counter that was labelled "staff room" which was also cluttered with stock and random things like an excess of coat hangers. The only good thing about this place was the actual optometrist. She was very kind, explained everything to me thoroughly and specifically made sure to tell me that I didn't have to purchase anything that day and that I could try things and think about it. I feel like she did this as sort of a pre-warning to the man I dealt with after. I am a college student and through my insurance plan was told: "Hakim Optical is pleased to offer you and your family members a 30% Preferred Corporate Discount on all regularly-priced complete prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, and most contact lenses (except replacement plan contact lenses, disposable and bi-focal lenses.)" When I presented my discount card I was told that it would not cover my contacts at all, though those restrictions in brackets don't apply to my case! When I looked very surprised and annoyed I stopped the man from showing me anymore contacts and pricing and said that I'd come back another day. He panicked and got a brochure saying that I'd get a certain rebate for things even if I didn't get the discount. I wrapped it up quickly by saying I'd think about it and I left. I will not be going back to this location. I would highly recommend going to an IRIS store over a Hakim Optical store. **UPDATE: I went into Iris a couple days later with no appointment, was greeted kindly in a really nice environment. Was able to purchase my contacts on the spot and they'll be in in a few days. I got the Acuvue Oasys 1 year supply for $370 as well as $40 gift card for sunglasses whereas at Hakim Optical they were going to charge me $417. NEVER GOING TO HAKIM OPTICAL AGAIN.
The WORST customer service i have ever experienced, i would not recommend this place to anyone. Lenscrafters or newlooks customer service makes this place look like trash. Waste of time. Save your money.
Amazing optometrist, I drive all the way from Orleans to see her, will not go anywhere else, my parents and siblings have started seeing her too and love her! staff can come across a bit rude sometimes but on average are professional and knowledgeable

My wife got an eye infection from this place. We had to go see a doctor for it, he thinks maybe the drops were contaminated. It has been a month and my wife still has not recovered completely from this.
Con job all the way. Take your chances with a seedy amazon company from China. Results will be the same but you'll be cheated out of far less money. I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism at the Baseline store. It felt like going into a McDonalds and having the stupefied guy behind the counter ask what a burger was. A joke.

I am a client of Hakim Optical Ottawa-Baseline for many years, and always happy with their services. The personnel is very knowledgeable and supportive, always ready to help. This year I was ordering progressive lenses for the fist time, and it was not easy to decide what kind of glasses I need. The personnel (David and your team, thank you!) helped me to make a decision, and even changed the lenses when it was necessary. I am happy with my new glasses! With lots of appreciation.
I would write a detailed review but I'm so raged by Hakim Optical and their quality of service that I can't think straight.
Dirty equipment, extremely rude doctor, and ridiculous waiting time even with appointments. Had to wait 40 minutes past my appointment time before leaving. Nobody knew why there was such a delay, and the doctor clearly was not in a rush to help everyone. When she went to grab something outside, I asked her how much longer I had to wait. She didn’t even bother answering, gave me a look, and just left. But the most concerning thing was not the wait time. I had a first check before I was sent to wait for the doctor. Everything seemed to be fine at first, however, about 2 hours after that my eye began to itch. It was getting worse, so the next day I went to see my family doctor and she found an eye infection. Therefore, the equipment at Hakim Optical was not clean, and it’s unknown if it’s just one piece of equipment or all of it. Now I need a 7 day treatment course, have to spend money and time, not to mention that my eye is infected. Stay away from this place, it’s not even about long waiting time or extremely rude doctor they have there, it’s about your health and how dirty equipment can mess it up.
Just got my new glasses and sunglasses and I love them! They arrived at the store a day early and they're perfect. Thank you Rita, David, Ali and Peter for all your help. You guys made the whole process a pleasure.
Poor customer service and not willing to admit mistakes! My son had an eye test appointment at 10:30 am, he received a phone call the night before (less than 24 hours) and was given 11:30 am for his appointment. We showed up at 11:20 am to find out that his appointment was never changed and they didn't want to admit that they made a mistake The guy was even surprised that we are 10 minutes early and rude, never said sorry about that!! I will never ever use this store again and I''m surprised for such an attitude from a chain that is supposed to be a good one.
As a firm with many employees I always recommend my staff and clients to Hakim Optical Baseline. The customer service is great, lots of selection for men and women’s glasses, Dr. Huang is wonderful for eye exams and the manager of the store is a amazing to deal with when buying new glasses and contacts. Over the last year I have purchased so many new glasses from them because they are always receiving new styles and high end brand names. I always want what’s new and trendy and they always have it to offer! Wonderful team at hakim baseline! Thank you for everything.
Stopped in to look at frames after losing a lens at work. David was extremely patient and helpful in helping me pick out both durable frames for work, and a lighter pair for social situations. The store has an excellent 2-pair deal, as well as a diverse selection, and the cost was covered immediately by my work benefits, so no cash out of pocket! Within 20 minutes of finalizing the purchase, my first pair was ready to be worn out of the store. This store is a pleasure to shop at, and I would absolutely recommend their services!
I needed a new prescription and new glasses and highly appreciated the courtesy and efficiency of the staff a this location 9 baseline and Woodroffe). The eye exam was comprehensive and included take home exercises ( highly appreciated!). The staff in the store kindly went over the choices I made and the costs involved and included my request to get back my glasses ASAP. Will be back there for my next prescription!
Very professional and welcoming customer service from Rita , David and the ever competent Peter . I purchased two pairs of glasses , which fit perfectly after being adjusted by Peter . I love them , especially the Versace pair ! Rita and David spent a lot of time with me in helping choose my glasses ! I will purchase glasses again in the future from this location and definitely recommend this business location . The customer service was Outstanding !
Returning customer. Staff are friendly, informed, and helpful. I was able to look and try on at their glasses at my leisure. Staff are on-hand, but not hovering. I love the selection of product, and the great staff make this Hakim my go-to recommendation for anyone looking to purchase eye wear.
Was helped by Rita and David on Tuesday, I let them know I was in a hurry because I had a date that weekend. I chose my frame and they said normally it would be 7-10 business days but they called around to their partner stores and got my lenses in, and they had it coated and ready with the elite package by Friday. Peter pushed the inspection forward since he knew I was in a hurry. Overall awesome service, super friendly and accommodating!
I went into the store 30 minutes after getting my prescription and walked out with a brand new pair of glasses at the price I was looking for within 25 minutes. AMAZING!!! Staff is very helpful.
I’m baffled at some of these poor reviews. I have been going to Hakim on Baseline since my first pair of glasses about 15 years ago, and I have had nothing but fantastic service and positive experiences while there. Yesterday was my most recent visit, for an eye exam and to choose a new pair of glasses. It made me remember why I love that place so much. Super friendly staff, efficient and knowledgable eye doctor, and a very special person named Rita who made my experience the best it could be. She really has a great eye for style and glasses fashion, and took her time to help me choose a new pair that I fell in love with. She was humorous, patient and really made me feel at ease. Perhaps the negative reviewers were having a bad day? I don’t know - you get out of the world what you put in. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my eye exams or for my glasses, period. Huge selection of glasses - and I mean huge - to choose from, from top designers to the bottom. Highly recommend Hakim Optical on Baseline Road. If you get the pleasure of Rita helping you, I cannot fathom how you’d be disappointed!
I've personally had a bad experience with Hakim on Baseline. I'm new to progressive lens glasses. I asked for their advice on the size of the lens as I wasn't sure it mattered. I was informed that the lens needed to be large enough for the progressive to be successful. So, I went with their recommendation. Well, that was a big mistake. After a couple of weeks wearing my new progressive glasses, I was adjusting well to the lens, but, I felt they were too big. I had to move my head up about 2 inches to see my computer monitor, even after lowering my monitor the lowest it could go. It was starting to give me neck and shoulder pains. Here is a chain of events that happened: 1- Return Visit number 1: Went back to visit them after 2 weeks and explained the situation. I mentioned that I feel the lenses is too large and probably why I had to move my head up 2 inches. They said, we don't think so. They said I just needed to get used to the progressive and that I should consider buying computer glasses. What is the point of buying progressives then? So, I decided to give it another 2 weeks. 2- Return Visit number 2: Went back and said I really think the lenses is too big. They said let's try and add nose pads on the frame and shape them a little. So, I decided to give it a world. Why wouldn't I. 3- Return Visit number 3: Went back and re-irritated that I feel the lenses is too big. Again, I was told that my eyes is not adjusting to progressive lenses. I said everything else if fine. I really feel like if the lenses were smaller, I wouldn't need to move my head up so much when working on my computer. They then said, well, you don't know that. I then said we wouldn't until we tried. They weren't happy with me at this point and I was literally in tears. I asked if it was an option to choose another frame. They said I could, but it took me almost one hour to persuade them. Every frame I chose, they said they were too small. And then proceeded on saying that if i brought in my own frame, they would give me a discount on reading glasses. Again, what is the point of progressive glasses? They are not cheap!!!! After being in the store for over 1 hour, I must admit that I gave up. I left the store VERY unhappy. I then kept the glasses for another 2 weeks and said to myself this is ridiculous. I decided to go to another Optical place (private) and chose another pair of frames where the lenses would be smaller. Surprise, surprise... that's what the problem was all along! I knew it! Now, I had to spend more money for this with no additional insurance refund, but, my eyes are happy now. Customer service was TERRIBLE at Hakim Optical Baseline!!!! I'm requesting to get a refund for the money I spent at Hakim Optical. Not an in-store credit cause I will not return there.

I have spent the last two days dealing with David at this location and he is awesome!! Not only did he pick out the two pairs of frames that I was already drawn to, he made the entirely experience effortless. I had to come back today because I had run out of time but he had everything all ready for me - made sure everything worked with my budget and went above and beyond to provide me with lense spray, a contact case and solution. It was so busy in the location and David, although running around to make sure he was helping everyone, made sure to still provide amazing service! I advise anyone who attends this location to ask for David. He was fantastic and I would absolutely go back and deal with him in the future.
Very bad service, the doctor, an asian old lady, was full of attitude! Told my mother to be quiet, very disrespectful! When she was testing my eyes, she wouldn't let my eyes adjust when switching lenses because of how fast she was going. I strongly recommend people to see a different clinic because they don't need to have glasses that aren't well adjusted for them and need to be treated nicely! I just wanted to jump off out the chair and demand for a refund for how bad the service was!
Bought two pairs of glasses from this store. Both pairs fell apart from standard wear and tear slightly over a year later - Conveniently out of the warranty period. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff there, including the optometrist. They've been kind and courteous, happy to answer any questions I ask.
Went to Hakim Optical for my eye test and to have my new prescription filled. I wanted a new pair of glasses exactly as the ones purchased five or so years ago and the Manager of the store actually located a pair in Toronto and had them shipped to his store. Picked up my glasses yesterday and was more than satisfied with the service I received. The manager knew the Hakim products and provided excellent customer service.
Picked up my glasses that I ordered last week and I’m more than happy with them. The staff was very nice and helped me pick two pairs of frames that I actually like(need to mention that they have a large selection of frames). The doctor took her time to explain everything during the eye-exam and the price for the exam was very reasonable as I was shocked when I was quoted 140$ at a different place and paid 85$ at Hakim. Overall this was an amazing experience and I will definetly be back.

I had the best time selecting my glasses at this location, great selection of frames and the staff was very helpful will strongly recommend this store to all my friends and family.
I went in to Hakim Baseline just before Christmas to check out the products. David assisted me and spent approximately an hour going through options and their promotions. In the end I purchased 2 pairs due to an amazing sale going on. Even better than that, within 30 minutes he was able to get a pair ready for me and the other would be done the following week. In the interim I decided to change the 2nd pair into sunglasses so I called them. Rita spoke with me and said no problem at all. When I went back in, David spent another half hour with me showing different frames more suited to sunglasses. There was an additional charge (I was already told) but it was minimal. It was a very comfortable experience and I really felt my needs were looked after. Great people and company.
I just had a fabulous customer service experience at Hakim's, Baseline & Woodroffe. Rita gave me exceptional service! She spent over an hour going through boxes to find me exactly what I was looking for!! I have dealt with her multiple times, and each time she has been extremely patient and helpful looking for, and pointing out which glasses I would like, and would suit me. I highly recommend Hakim's, and Rita!
This store is very clean and organized and the staff are all very kind and friendly! Sandra was our costumer service representative and she was simply amazing! It is so nice to see a stranger be so caring and attentive even if it's for a short time, she literally made my day!
Looking at the online reviews and how great they were led me to Hakim to purchase my daughters glasses. Should not have, horrible horrible experience with 2 different stores in the frustration of having a set of defective frames replaced, carlingwood mall location where they were bought acknowledged they were under warrenty and would be replaced. After multiple back and forth trips and mis information the end result was a "new" frame that was was the combination of 2 frames that had chew marks on the ear protectors. Could not believe that any store would pass off such garbage to a client, as my daughter was the one picking them up I'm assuming they thought they could pass that off as customer service because she is a teenager. We went to Hakim location on baseline as they are all one company, to try to get situation resolved. They seemed very eager to help, but it has been the same run around. Claimed to have called multiple times, they have not. We were unable to go the very next morning when they said they would try to have them by, as there was a wind storm knocking trees and power outage, so they said because of that they sold the frames, yet when we had someone try to pick them up were told they were not ready. This has been playing out for months now, we were told come in to get them when in the store, then when show up they rudely say we will call don't just show up. So this was a long rant , just want to make sure that no one has the same experince if going by actual client reviews, if something goes wrong with your frames you are truely on your own.

Dr. D. Song in this location gave me wrong prescription about 2 months ago. She is very rude. Then I paid again for another eye exam with someone else.
I broke my frames and went in to see about having them repaired but it was not possible. A customer service representative assisted me in trying to find frames that would fit my lenses but we were unsuccessful although she tried very hard. I went back in to see about purchasing new glasses and another customer service representative had a look and literally found a pair to fit my lenses in under 2 minutes. I was so grateful that I didn't have to buy a whole new set of glasses. Really good customer service here.
Got in next day for eye exam. Dr. Shelley Huang was excellent; friendly, knowledgeable and professional throughout! All staff very conscious of cleaning equipment. One staff wasnt very good about explaining to my newbie-self about the different kinds of lens options, nor what frames would look good with my face...in that staff person's defence, I couldn't see much so couldn't try anything on anyway. Overall, I'm very happy that I went to Hakim on Baseline and would recommend going.
