On my flight from Vancouver to Toronto, someone had a construction jacket poorly placed on the baggage bin and it dropped on my prescription Ray Ban, somehow it sliced the arm of my glasses. I was visiting Toronto for a few days and now I couldn't see, so I went to Optic Zone for help. Joe Singh was kind enough to hep immediately where other glass companies had apathy because being here for a few day's wouldn't make me a customer it would take weeks for the replacement arm to arrive. But Joel, gave me free help so I can be able to move around with my glasses until I return to Vancouver for a long term solution. He didn't need to do so, but he did anyway. Besides being helpful I can tell that he has years of experience and anyone buying glasses from Optic Zone is great hands. Thank you Joe for your help.

A colleague referred me to this shop just over two years ago and I am most satisfied with the service. They spent a great deal of time helping me decide on most suitable frame for my face combined with my strong prescription. Same attention to detail and customer care last week when I went in to buy my second pair. Their recommendations are honest and blunt with regard to frames that just wouldn't suit me. Another example of their excellent customer care occurred when they repaired my glasses free of charge approximately six weeks ago when I damaged them after having fallen asleep wearing said glasses.

ONLY EVER BUY GLASSES HERE! I shopped around at a few of the cheaper glasses stores in the city and I was so underwhelmed by their selection and got mixed service depending on when/where I went. Until my friend brought me to Optic Zone. To say their selection is amazing is an understatement. The walls are covered with glasses and they have lots of funky and unique designs. I went in with the vague idea that "I like purple" and their sales associate pulled tons of glasses that fit the bill and were my style to boot! She was so great at picking out things I might like and helped me find the perfect pair! Prices are pretty standard. Mine were $500 on the dot. Not cheap per-say but not astronomical either. And for what you're getting I think it's well worth the price. Their staff are so friendly and helpful, I got my glasses within a few days of ordering, and I feel confident in a unique pair of frames I never would have found otherwise. This is the only store I want to buy glasses from for the rest of my life. A++

I bought glasses here earlier in the year. I have progressive lenses and it was a challenge finding the right lenses. After 3 attempts (and no extra cost) I now have a great pair of glasses. Flash forward six months and I've damaged the lenses...bad scratches. I was expecting to pay for new lenses...low and behold they were under warranty! I highly recommend the Optic Zone for great glasses and great customer service.

Amazing service and team at Optic Zone. Although my time spent was limited during the fitting and pick up, I'm extremely happy with my new glasses and the attitude provided by the staff and Joe himself. No BS, I called in, told him what I wanted, he gave me a price, gave me his advice on lens selection, thickness, etc, and I was sold. As with most places I've purchased my glasses, the ongoing customer relationship after pick up is important for me, whether I come back for repair or to purchase a new set in a couple years or not.. I've been shopping for a new pair of glasses for a while, specifically something non luxxottica having owned ray bans for the past 20 years if my memory serves me correctly.. I've personally never had issues with any of my ray bad frames, although I'm at the point where I'm out of options from Ray ban, and I'm not a fan of other brands/offerings from luxxottica, let alone their entire business model/practice. I figured I'd try something different. I set my eyes on a pair of moscot frames. Unfortunately, the only stores within the GTA that carry moscot, in addition to having frames to try on, are located in Toronto. Granted, it worked out for the best.. I went to a few stores and had a sub par experience.. I went to a shop though within Roncesvalles of which I was truly set on returning back to for a set of moscot frames. Amazing service, conversation and respect from the owner. Never felt I was being forced or pushed to buy, despite that being the goal at the end of the day. Most shops in Peel, and really any basic retail store is exhausting to deal with, sometimes dirty, and I feel rushed to buy and make them a sale, that's the last thing I want and what prompts me to leave everytime. Having had terrible experiences in the past, I value good customer service, patience and industry knowledge to a whole other level.. The owner was amazing to meet and talk to about frames, moscot as a brand, lens options, and more.. Unfortunately, the price was slightly out of my budget and I gave Optic Zone a shout.. Thankfully Joe prompted me of a promotion they had running which I was able to catch. The exact frame I was looking at, at the previous store, Joe was able to sell me, and at a more competitive price. Had this not been the case, not sure if I would have been sold. I ended up with a pair of Moscot Zev - TT SE's, 1.76 ultra high index lenses, AR/AG and scratch resistant coating. The turn around time was quick, and I couldn't be happier. Probably the best frames I've owner to date, and I hope they last. Just the pick up and feel of Moscot frames is on another level compared to Luxxottica.. -- Anyways, a very close knit feeling at Optic Zone and I've had a great experience thus far. Should anything come up in the future, I'll be sure to update the review.

I was shy, but wanted to try something a little bolder for my next pair of glasses. I read several reviews that credited Joe at The Optic Zone with near-mystical powers of finding exactly the right pair for your face, so I went, took a deep breath, and put myself entirely in his hands. He pulled a couple dozen pairs for me, all of which were pretty close to perfect, but kept coming back to one pair, saying, "I know you're a little afraid, but I really like these on you." I gathered up my courage and said yes. Yesterday, I nearly missed a subway transfer because I had been stopped by someone asking where I had gotten those amazing glasses that looked like they were designed specifically for my face. I went in for new glasses around December. I found this place on Google Maps, and decided to go as it was the most highly rated. I have regrets going here for my glasses or an eye exam. I am originally from Europe, and am used to places like Specsavers. They have a large selection, the stores are open, clean, well lit and comfortable. On getting an eye exam, the equipment is clean, modern, the Optician is well trained and hospitable. Going here. The selection was pretty moderate, but OK. The store itself, is very cramped, quite dated, dark, and messy. On getting the eye exam, they put my face into a machine to blow air, and the chin guard doesn't have a tissue cover. That has been standard whenever I have taken that test. This felt pretty unhygienic. Then, when they bring you in the back for the full eye exam, it is like someone's office, that is used temporarily for this, the examiner is not a member of staff, they bring someone in from outside to do these. The tools that the person is using, seem to be from a kit in their bag, and is so incredibly outdated looking, I couldn't really believe it. It was like from a different time. In addition to this, the examination was very brief, and didn't feel in anyway thorough. I am felt like I have to get the exam redone. Anyways, I ordered glasses, and lenses based off the results from this eye exam. I was told that if there was anything wrong with the prescription I would have 60 days to come back. No one has ever said this to me after getting a new pair, it is generally assumed that the prescription would be perfectly fine, perhaps you would have issues with discomfort with the frames... It would be a huge sunk cost for them, if they are giving out incorrect prescriptions... or if people are wearing incorrect prescriptions and causing themselves problems... I didn't wear the glasses initially. I normally wear contacts, and have a pair of glasses as backup. In the last month or two, I have worn the glasses daily for a change. I can say, that the prescription is quite poor. And causes a lot of eye strain. I feel like these were a waste of money. It is at this point that the 60 days have lapsed, and I cannot get them changed. However, it is months later, and I still feel compelled to still write a lengthy review. I think the standard of eyecare here is low. If you feel that it is OK, or amazing, you need to expose yourself to more places, or pay more, because a poor pair of glasses, or a poorly carried out eye exam isn't worth it.

This is the Ollivanders of glasses stores. A stranger with cool glasses told me about this place (when I asked where she got hers), and I am so glad I checked it out. I’ve gotten two pairs of prescription glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses here. The staff seem to just know what you’re looking for and what will look good on you. I love the glasses I got there two years ago so much, and I went back earlier this month looking for the most similar pair I could get. They had it. They have everything! I can’t wait to descend into weirdness as I get older and keep getting cooler and cooler glasses from them. Oh, and I had an eye exam here and it was super quick and pleasant.

I've been a loyal customer since being single, and now married with two children, the oldest 14, we drive 2.5 hours to get all of our optical needs fulfilled at "The Optic Zone". I can't leave out Joe's team, always there to get the whole job done. Usually Joe suggests one or two frames, then we spend hours trying on different ones, and in the end it is Joe's original suggestions that are the right ones. The place looks chaotic but don't let that fool you. They look at your face and begin their magic, pulling out frames that suit you and fit what you are looking for. Holy Cow! This place is the bees knees. The legends are true, you walk in and then find yourself trying to decide between at least a dozen perfect glasses. Joe just looks at your face and starts handing you glasses, and then he helps you decide on the best pair. I was in and out in under 45 mins, and it only took that long b/c I wanted to play dress up with some of the more creative glasses. When I picked up my glasses someone was picking up his glasses which ODSP paid for - which means that Optic Zone is accessible as well. Very impressed - I will never go anywhere else!

Don't be fooled by the Bohemian facade of the shop. These people are not flower-children; they are money grabbers! They have no price list and none of their frames and lenses are priced; this means that they have carte blanche to make up prices and add-ons as they go along. One female employee, early middle aged plus dark haired and bespectacled was somewhat helpful, but the stern-faced young female with fair hair was very aggressive and condescending. She told me that frames didn't have to "fit", ( I have quite a wide face) and that I should go with the ones she would determine for me. The shortish, middle-aged and tanned male who appeared to be the leader of the pack; whilst not offering to help, he stood at a distance scanning for easy preys, with the his condescending looks reserved for the street-smart, who are unlikely to fall prey to him. All in all a place to avoid. They quoted me over $1200 for a mediocre pair, apparently with 40% discount! Would you believe it? I turned around and took flight, safe in the knowledge that I didn't allow myself to be cajoled in my usual way.

I stopped by because I sat on my my flex-frame glasses and they were sitting lopsided on my face. I couldn't manage to bend them back into place for the life of me. I walked into a warm reception and waited about 5 minutes for Joe (iirc) to have a free moment, and he fixed them in about 8 seconds. I tried to pay him, but he wouldn't take my money. "No charge for that". I didn't even buy my glasses there. Good folks at Optic Zone. Highly recommend.

I am editing my review because Bella at Optic Zone came to the rescue. She is great to work with and is very responsive and kept me up to date on a back order that took a very long time to come in from Italy. After a long wait, I love my new frames and happy I gave Optic Zone a second chance. I only am giving 4 stars because my initial impression of this place was disappointing, but I am glad they made it right, because it is ideal for me to support a local business, rather than buy online. __________________________________________________________________ What a frustrating place this is. I will never go back. I called and asked to make an appointment for an eye exam and specifically asked if I would get a full prescription where even if I got glasses somewhere else it would be full functioning prescription that anyone could use anywhere. They said yes, not a problem. My prescription is missing pupillary distance (PD), so when I emailed in asking if they can let me know those figures, the response was “it is part of making glasses”. I have to now rely on an old prescription for those measurements. On top of it, I went in a week before Christmas and I was told that a new shipment of Céline glasses would be in in 2 weeks. It’s been 7 weeks and no shipment. Really poor customer service and their prices are not competitive at all. Not sure how they stay in business. If I treated my clients this way I would be fired.

My optometrist recommended this place as they use high end (e.g. Zeiss, Nikon) lenses. I’d been having trouble converting to my first pair of progressive glasses I’d gotten a couple of years ago. They listened patiently to my whole story about how I just wanted the same prescription from my 90’s specs. They made recommendations and set expectations and I couldn’t be happier. Really great service. Very, very happy. I also know of two friends that go here (I should’ve listened to them sooner!)

I’ve reached that age where reading glasses are becoming a necessity. However, I put off buying a pair for well over a year due to anticipation that it was going to be a frustrating, time consuming process. I am the polar opposite of an impulse shopper, and with the countless frame styles and lens options, I envisioned myself endlessly wandering from store to store, trying to find something I would be happy with. However, Optic Zone came highly recommended by a friend who used to work in the industry, so I decided to roll the dice and start there, even though it meant a 45 minute drive in from the ‘burbs. I came on a Saturday, and the small shop was bustling with activity, but I was still seen to surprisingly quickly. The staff was very friendly and professional, and after handing over my prescription, there was a brief chat about what type of lenses I would be needing. “Computer” glasses seemed to make the most sense, so that was sorted out thankfully quickly. But then came the dreaded frame selection! Optic Zone has an amazing selection, and I could have easily spent all day trying on one after the other until I had a mental breakdown. So, I decided to take another gamble and ask for some suggestions. It was completely out of character for me, but I had a good feeling that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Six different frames were selected, and given my likely usage, the merits of their design were clearly described. I was instantly drawn to the style of one of the six, and that was it, the choice was made! I didn’t even risk looking at any others. Moments later, I was walking out the door with a set of glasses on order. I now suddenly had the rest of the afternoon to explore the St. Lawrence Market and other surrounding shops with all this unexpected extra free time. A week later, my glasses were ready and I was back to pick them up. Trying them on for the first time, I instantly marveled at how crystal clear my phone screen was! No more blurry mess. What a revelation! I’ve now been wearing them for about a month, and couldn’t be happier. I’ve received many compliments on the frames, they are very comfortable, and most importantly, reading is no longer a chore.
