One terrible experience after another - I'm absolutely done shopping here. Used to be a great hardware store years ago. I ordered an item online; rude staff at the pickup counter barely answered my questions, obviously annoyed that I'd ask him anything. Then I bought an item in-store, rude cashier told me "I'm not accepting cash, I closed my till". I wasn't even paying by cash. He couldn't get me out the door fast enough as it was 5 minutes to closing. Returned the next day to return the online item (which was incorrectly described on the HH website), only to be rudely told by the same person at the pickup desk that they aren't accepting returns (understandable, but no need to be rude) and when I asked when I'd be able to return it, he said "How would I know; nobody told me". I won't return there except to take back the item when possible. I never thought I'd say this but I get better service at Canadian Tire.

Last visit was not as pleasant when you ask for help in a section and the employee had attitude towards me a bit when I asked for a item where it was placed and she treated me like I should of known where it was.

The last two visits I found staff very helpful, I was approached immediately and each time the individual ensured my needs were being met. Was greeted at the know by a staff person who without hesitation directed me to the area needed to go to find what I was seeking. Once there, the staffer was skilled on advising me about the products I was viewing. About 4 visitations ago to the store, I purchased a "fishing hut" and I will wait and see how that all pans out. I do not expect any issues with it, i will construct after the complete package is delivered to my home. It also came with assemble plans for the unskilled DIY person I am. Stay tuned.

If you are looking for a company to hire for home installations, do yourself a favour, and go elsewhere! My Husband and I had bought a new home (first and last new home I will ever own), and we were SO excited to have some renovations done to make it a little more inviting for us. We hired Payzant’s Home Hardware in Lower Sackville to put in cupboards in our kitchen including a lazy susan garbage area and a dishwasher. We also had them rip out carpeting and install laminate flooring throughout the top floor of our home and install a hot water tank. There were so very many issues, it would be an extremely long read for anyone, so I will sum it up in bullet point. - I scheduled the movers for several days after the flooring was supposed to be completed. The day before the movers were due to arrive, the work was still not completed, and they did not even come to work that day. On the morning of the move, I called to ensure the workers had masks on as we were going to be there (I am immune compromised). I was assured they would have masks, but when we arrived, there was only one person working, with no mask, and he ended up being underfoot when the movers where trying to bring stuff into the house. - When they removed the carpet upstairs there was a very sticky substance all over the floors. The installation crew did not bother to try and protect the other floors in our home. They walked all through the main level of our home and the carpeted stairs. They did have a steam cleaning company in to clean the stairs, but we are still trying to get the stuff off the laminate flooring. - We were not asked to pick out a dishwasher, so we asked what dishwasher we were getting in advance and were told a Frigidaire. We like that brand so we never said anything further about it. When the installation was complete, imagine our surprise to discover it was a GE they installed. They came back and switched to a better model. - When installing the new flooring they discovered a hole in the floor where the railing was and told us the railing had to go and they could not use it again. We paid close to $2000.00 for a new section of railing. When they installed it, they drilled holes in the wrong spots for each spindle and neglected to nail in some of the pieces of wood in the top rail (and used the wrong nails when they did). They came back and nailed in the pieces of wood on the top. - They drilled two holes in the wrong spot in our new cupboards for our lazy susan. So right out in front there are two obvious holes. They did try to fill them and hide them, but you can still see it. - On our very first visit we were told we would need handles for the door cupboards, but the person we worked with was in a hurry so it was going to have to wait for another day. That day never came, and we were not asked again. When they installed the cupboards, they came and asked us where the handles were, and we didn’t have any. They had to come back and do that too. Which was okay because one of the people installing took home a piece of our cupboard in his pocket, so they had to come back anyway. I could go on, there was more. The customer service was very much lacking. We were made to feel as though they were doing us a favour. We had to have people in our home so many times when it should not have been necessary. In the end, we have expensive new railing with holes in between every spindle, we have holes in our new cupboards, and some sort of a substance all over our floors. After weeks of trying to get things settled with the general manager, he offered us $250.00 off of the total invoice, which was over $20,000.00. I told him he was missing a zero, and he could either provide proper compensation for the damaged items in our home; or, come install new railing and a new cupboard. He responded by telling me if we didn’t pay in 15 days, they would put a lien on our new home. I went to the BBB and they tried to get a response but had no luck. We paid, but I would never EVER recommend anyone use their services!

This is our local Payzant store. I used to work for Home Hardware back in Ontario, and have been a loyal customer for a long time as we believe strongly in supporting local. As such, I have come to love certain lines of products that we use regularly in our home (Natura, Folex etc) some of which are unique to HH. We often have trouble finding the products we need at this location, either isn't carried or out of stock. We often need to visit a larger location or a different store. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming here, and I can't often get through the store without someone asking if we need help, which I love. It's nice when you are acknowledged. Great location and plenty of parking space. Would love to see more product lines available in store!

I always go here first to support local, but 95% of the time I end up having to go to Kent because I'm informed HH doesn't carry the product on hand. If I wanted to order online I'd buy from Amazon. Carry normal stock in store! Couldn't even get a mail key cut here. Embarrassing.

Purchased a few things at Lower Sackville yesterday. I saw the Black Mulch outside the doors with no price posted. The Black Earth beside it was posted at $2.49. I went in and asked the nearest cashier the price and she said $2.49 so I loaded 20 bags in my truck. When I went to pay I was confused to find out the price was over $5 per bag! I told them Kent was $2.99 per bag. One person up front replied sarcastically "Oh well" . I then unloaded all 20 bags and left. Not once did anyone say they could price match Kent nor apologize for giving me the wrong price! EDIT:Revised my rating to a 3 as the Manager did make this right and honoured the price match and helped load the mulch into my trucks. Much appreciated.

Poor Customer service. Had windows delivered today and received the wrong size. Spoke with the manager and sales person to rectify the issue. I was instructed to try and sell them on online as there was nothing they could do. Original quote even had the right sizes of windows on them but the sales representative punched in the wrong quote so now I'm out $1120 worth of windows. Update: I've upgraded the review to 3 stars rather than the initial 1 I originally gave. After I complained to the Better Business Bureau and made this review on google. I was contacted by the company and they refunded all of my money on 3 of the 4 windows I received. Had this happened right away when I originally called I would have been able to replace all my windows and not had to deal with the additional cost of selling one of the windows online.

Every time I go in to get a product, they rarely have it. My husband went in today for something. It rang up wrong and the cashier just said, “oh well, that’s what it is ringing up as”. This company would have great potential if ran by someone other than Andrew and his childhood buddy Jim. This location is always understaffed or way overstaffed. Staff members walking/joking around looking bored with nothing to do. Alot of the new employees have no idea what they are selling, slow and make alot of mistakes without taking the time to ask for help. No proper communication between management and staff, or even between management and management. Jim Macgregor seems to be a big issue with several of the staff members, new and old. I dont like his attitude or the way he treats the staff at payzants. Maybe someone is a better fit for his position! I love to shop at this location but I hate to see how many frustrated employees there are at this location. They are WAY underpaid! And get shown ZERO appreciation for what they do. Maybe rethink who is running the place.

Was in the store for about two hours. Spent about 30 minutes looking at snowblowers, than I went looking at other sections - tubs, window & doors, and smaller hardware. I wasn't acknowledged by any staff the entire time in the store. Had staff pass me; with other customers, that were trying to find product, and that were just walking. My intent was to buy a snowblower, and a few other house hold items. I left without buying anything. Extremely unimpressed with the store's customer service.

Went to try to get an estimate on a new deck. Was told they sell materials and install. Talked to a young man at the service desk who told me if I wanted it built to code he could not give an estimate. But if I did not want it built to code he could. Not sure what the heck is up with that but certainly left me with the impression if I wanted a crappy build they could do it but not a quality deck. I repeatedly said of course I want it built to code! Would never recommend getting anything built by these people.

A few times that I have gone to purchase lumber the staff in the yard were less than helpful. On separate occasions they asked if I was sure that was what I wanted with the piece of lumber in my hand to ensure the match. The younger staff sat on his phone hidden on a step and seemed bothered that I needed to ask him a question. Still playing on his phone as he walked towards me then proceeded that I would have to purchase a 2x4 and saw it to get the dimensions I wanted. Another gentleman called me Missy. Not too impressive for me to spend my money there.

They are ripping their customer off even more than Kent Building Supplies. One 2X4 8' stud is $7.35 and Kent Building Supplies is selling at $5.88. I attempted to return a tool my parents gave me for Christmas. They bought the tool in my hometown in New Brunswick. When I attempted to return it to Payzant in Lower Sackville the staff were unwilling to take it since they do not stock the product. When I asked what I should do they simply said "call around to other HHs not owned by Payzant and good luck. Not helpful nor friendly. They basically wanted to get rid of me. I contacted Redmond Home Hardware in Tantallon and within 15 minutes they contacted the head office for me and arranged that I return it at their store. Now that's great customer service!
