This location is not too far from where I work so I tend to pop in every now and then. Usually it used to be only liquor and wine I'd grab from here and thus the high rating because the staff are really helpful when it comes to picking out a great wine or answering to my tough questions. But recently I thought I might try some of the legal pot they're selling and it was really a disappointment. I'm sure it will get better over time but for now I'll stick to just buying liquor and wine from here.

This looks and feels like one of the oldest NSLC's in Halifax. They cater more to the university market than the Port does across the streets (you can tell because of how aggressively the security guards ID people and intensely watch you). They pretty much have all the standard NSLC fare, it's about medium-sized. Staff are always friendly

Nice new store, well new to me. Great airy feeling. Layout was easy and by country with good selection of middle range wines. Even carried a few of them in the good vintage years. Clearance prices were significant and resulted in some great bargains. Sadly I found the Rare Finds room...some real goodies in there, think Petrus! Great spirit selection too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice tasting room made me wish I lived in the city. A few holes in their offerings like nothing from Mollydooker or Numanthia but they did have Purple Angel thankfully. It was good fun looking around and I will be back. Also good to know they will ship to other stores in the system if you buy over $75 or something like that.

Of all the NSLC stores I've been to, this has the best design, layout, colours, and selection than any other. It is also much nicer than any LCBO (Ontario) , ANBL (NB), and SAQ (Quebec) I have been to. Tons of local beer, wine and spirits, as expected. Also found great Ontario beer (Collective Arts Ransack the Universe IPA and State of MInd Session IPA, Nickelbrook Headstock, Beau's Lug Tread, and Boneshaker IPA). If only the LCBOs were this good and carried more than just Propeller IPA.

Definitely the number one option when any of your alternative dispensaries are not available, would not recommend as your regular purchasing site. I bow to others in their reviews of the selection of wines and spirits, and staff knowledgeability and friendliness. I'm only going to talk about beer. They seem to have about 60 beers (?). I looked a random bunch of them up on RateBeer, which is not perfect, but a solid reference and far closer to impartial than I can be. If they chose beers completely at random, you'd expect that about half of them would get an above-average rating. But no—many more than half rate below average, and I only found one that is in the top 10% on RateBeer. It's as if their beer buyer is going out of his way to stock an unusually bad selection. Many are local, and it would be great to buy below-average local beers in order to stimulate the ecosystem, but even the come-from-aways are worst-in-class. The one hefeweizen is Erdinger—43rd percentile (perhaps they stock some better ones in the summer?). Unibroue keeps producing world-class beers—Maudite, La Fin Du Monde, Trois Pistoles, 16, 17, La Terrible etc all rate in the top 1 or 2% in the world—but the three at this store are improbably all unremarkable. Come for the wine, I guess? You will simply not find many good beers here.

Great and friendly staff but that was all for the positives. The product simply is subpar and that being kind. I purchased an 1/8th and it’s unsmokable. Hoping NSLC continues to evolve from the growing stand point as it’s clear they have a lot to learn. Also they need to stop spraying pesticides it’s clear there is a distinct favor profile that does not belong.

Helpful staff which is needed since the selection is overwhelming. Check the dates on your bud. Some I purchased were 4 months old and were quite dry. Seemed to be the ones in 7g sizes that were older. Parking limited to the street and both times the streets were pretty full. Also both times beggars outside asking for change

Doesn't even deserve one star. The vibes in this place are WHACK!!!! First of all, you walk in, and you can instantly feel all of the employee's (very judging) eyes on you at all times.... Never coming here again. The guy I dealt with today at this location was very rude and condescending and made a point to embarrass me in front of all the other workers, too bad I didn't get his name... They didn't have something in stock that I wanted that I thought they would, and understandably I was a bit upset because I drove 45 minutes to get there. Upon seeing my disappointment, the worker then told me in a VERY condescending way to "stop letting the weather interfere with my mood" and recommended a place about 5 minutes away I could get the glass I was looking for. Although I appreciate the suggestion about a shop not too far away - I DO NOT appreciate him telling me HOW to feel and embarrassing me in front of all of his colleagues. I was already having a VERY terrible day (and NOT taking it out on anyone else) and then this guy was just the cherry on top and I left bawling. I'll be telling every single person I know NOT to come here anymore.

Product is dry..not very strong ,need to smoke alot and that's issue cause no deals here and expensive compared to real dispensaries ,,they need to get better.

The layout having the product lists 20 feet from the counter is ineffective. No parking Binders with product lists touched by hundreds of people is so silly in a pandemic. Get everything up on a screen.

They have a very large variety, and good customer service but for someone who has never been to that location, it was quite confusing when I walked in the door. Didn't know where to go or what to do, there should be someone to greet you and let you know. I felt kinda stupid just standing there looking around.

A nice wine/beer/liquor store that has quite a selection of wines held at temperature for one to try for free in real mini wine glasses. I'm impressed at how knowledgeable the staff is about differences in wine varietals and terms to describe their characteristics.

UPDATE May 2020 - I've been back once and had a totally different experience. I asked for a oil with high CBD low THC. I left not understanding what I was buying, frustrated, embarrassed and upset by the employee who I found to be very unhelpful, dismissive, rude, and condescending. My advice, make sure you do your research ahead of time and dont go until you know exactly what you're looking for. Will not return to this location sadly. ORIG POST - No alcohol at this location. I'm not a consumer. Explained to staff at desk what friend wanted and they picked out something quickly. Efficient and straightforward. Staff looked after my dog outside while I was inside- very kind.
