Here you will see the opinions of people who are purchasing the products of IKEA Halifax (Optics Shop) in the area close to Nova Scotia (Canada).
Nowadays this firm receives a score of 4.4 out of 5 and this score was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings that it reaches is quite good, and it is founded on a very large number of reviews, so we can conclude that the valuation is very reliable. If people have bothered to leave their review when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to place evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Optics Shop is included in the category of Furniture store.
How fortunate it is to live close to an IKEA. We furnished two new apartments this fall . So handy , so easy , they even have slippers!
Shopped and had lunch. Super fun looking around at all the rooms and the Swedish meatballs were delicious.
Better than the one in Edmonton. Everything was in stock but their mattress collection sucks. They charge you a hundred bucks for delivery while it takes a week at least, they said! Which is the worst customer service ever. The brand itself is the best in my eyes but how IKEA branches are handled in different locations, is something else.
Why should I have to pay $5 to collect my order? It's not even curbside pickup - I have to go in to get it. Yet still I'm charged $5 on a $400 order. Ridiculous. Get with it IKEA.
I've shopped in Ikea in several countries, and the pros and cons are common to all. Pro: great selection, at different price points. Small UT interesting food sections. Good parking, with wide enough stalls to get in/out without bashing the car beside you. Con: confusing layout; if you're intent on browsing the entire store, no problem. If you're looking for a specific thing, good luck. I asked 4 employees, got 3 different answers and an I don't know... Finally found it thanks to another shopper who had one in her Carr.
Friendly and helpful staff! Reasonably priced furniture! Cheap hotdogs!
A good amount of inexpensive furniture and household items. We bought a pot and a cover for our bed. We also had lunch. I was underwhelmed by the food. It was ok. We'll probably buy a desk for our daughter there because they had a pretty good selection and they seemed to be good quality.
I’m so glad that IKEA opened here in Halifax! I went for the first time and I really enjoyed our experience here. The layout is clear and nice. The restaurant has a great view and the food is tasty and affordable. The design of the place is minimalistic and so relaxing. And surely the ikea furniture we’ve been using for years now and I’m very satisfied with price and quality. Will be going back there again and not once ????
Consistantly bad experience with employees at this store! It feels like they are trying to make your experience as bad as possible. And as an excuse for being rude and unreasonable they say - "we are following our rules"...
I really like going to Ikea but I won't take my kid there alone. He always wants to play hide and seek and build forts in the rafters. Great selection and wide range of prices.
Even if you don't like Ikea you have to respect the logistics of running a place this size. I like the great coffee and cake promo in the afternoons and classic breakfasts in the mornings!
It's Ikea! Only gripe is some stuff is beyond reasonable value and other stuff not so much.
Absolutely amazing. I went there in the morning with just a list with a bunch of unpronounceable names on it was super well assisted got to my empty house, waited a couples hours then a truck with goods came over with everything I have just bought that morning and now I am assembling a home to live in. Love it.
Good products if they have anything in stock. I have been trying to furnish a one bedroom apartment for months and it is very slow going for products to arrive in the warehouse and there are some they have no idea when they will be coming in; makes it very difficult to plan a layout for furniture if you do not know what you will get or when you will get it. Serious stock issues and their mobile app is sometimes very "wonky". The app will show product is in stock but if you check the website it is not. But the products they do have are decent so there is that. They only need to work on product procurement to meet their supply and demand problems.
I like Ikea a lot, but lately was utterly disappointed by their on line order. Was not in a hurry when ordered, and made no issue by the delivery date... order made on June 29 , delivery at July 06... well, it's already July 07 and not a peep. No email, no possibility to call them... but they were not so hesitant taking my money out of my account... Shame.
Everyone needs an IKEA store in their life! Nice quality furniture and easy to build. IKEA also has an incredible live plant section and really good prices. And when you get hungry grab some tasty swedish meatballs or a hot dog and icecream when you leave. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
Love love love IKEA! Great place to spend the day away! There's a place for the kids to play when you shop, a place to grab a coffee and a hit9e to eat plus lots of amazing items to buy for incredibly low prices! Shopping on a budget in a nutshell!
Best place to buy affordable furniture, with almost anything you’ll need. It can be a maze to get through on your first visit, but the signs help a lot if you’re trying to find a particular item. Also recommend downloading the ikea app so you can easily search for stuff you need there!
Great store for home furnishings. You go upstairs to tour the showroom and if you follow the arrows on the floor you will see everything. At the end of the showroom tour you will come to the restaurant and café. You then go back downstairs to pick up any items you saw upstairs. The store is huge with lots of variety.
I love IKEA. Great prices and selection.
The worst Ikea ever. Told a bed frame would be in stock in a few days. Been 3 weeks now. I have all the other pieces but the front an foot rest and have been sleeping on the ground on my mattress for 3 weeks being told every 3rd day "Don't worry it'll be here tommorow" then for my trouble they decide to say they can ship it to me but only give me %20 off delivery so I'd have to pay an extra $80! I fought a bit harder and got free shipping finally to my house but have to wait another full week. I then went to pay for it online with an email they gave me. Used my gift card, screen blanked out, didn't order my product an lost all my money on my gift card so now I'm fighting them over that. Will never shop at Ikea again!!!!!
IKEA’s service is super poor, and I give too much to one heart. I bought a table and chair on the IKEA website on June 18,2021. I received the email, and it told me that they will deliver the goods to me on June 22. But nothing happened yesterday. I contacted them just now. A lady told me to wait for another 4 days, I said to cancel, she rudely hung up my phone.
You always find something everytime you come.
Unique shopping experience, I like the store and have nothing negative to note from the few times I've been there. Takes a while to go through the whole store but it's fun if you have the time.
Unbeatable prices. Good thing theres food here cause youll be a while shopping
If you are looking for a one stop place for all your household furnishings this is certainly the place to go. The staff was helpful but did not bother you too much while shopping. Lots of interactive areas to order the pieces that you wanted. The staff seemed to know a great deal about the products and services provided. As a new store it was very clean. There are a wide range of items at many different price points. You do get good value for your money. Be sure to follow up if you have any issues as they have a personal stake in good word of mouth. Overall, I would rate Ikea a B+ as I really enjoyed my experience and would return to shop again.
It really disappoints me when I read such terrible things about Ikea. The great workers have worked so hard to make it a wonderful place to shop and to relax in.. Some people and they know who they are feel it important to bring their negative attitudes and influence to the great many who LOVE IKEA their values and their simplicity. One comment about the long line ups in their restaurant well they are long because the great many people want to experience the tastes of Sweden.. The great many people want to have a great meal in a great atmosphere for a low cost. Although I agree with the right to voice ones opinion why does it always have to be a negative one does the world really need these kinds of feedback ????????????.
It was my first visit there on this side of the border. The store is nicely lit, clean and well stocked. The staff members were friendly and helpful.
Got lost, but eventually found my way, awsome ikea one of the best I have been in, good show rooms, best place to find what you need to decorate your house for the right price.
Needed a new ceiling light, price wise no one compared to Ikea! Got a great and affordable new light!
Because I can't give a "0"-stars. The lovely customer service representative was the only glimmer of sanity within the whole organization. The rest of the tedious online experience or better described as an "odyssey" was aborrent and unacceptable. It started with an online ordering system that was slow and cumbersome. After getting through this (last night) we received confirmation of payment and our order was to be ready between 1000 and 1400 (today), and would receive another email indicating when our order was picked and when we could pick up the order. At 1410 after not receiving the picked email we contacted IKEA Halifax (firstly put on hold for a total of 28 minutes). Their response was that nothing was done as they hadn't received the payment (BS as both IKEA's own confirmation and our payment card showed confirmation). We then contacted the online ordering support team regarding the situation. After 36 minutes of being put on hold (and no available supervisors or managers) we were told that if we wanted to cancel the order, we would have wait 3-4 DAYS before we could be refunded (UNSAT), unless we went in to physically went to the store (which we did). Upon arriving at the store I found a number of others (10-12) that seemed to be in the same boat, it was even worse for those that "Click and Picked" that day wete far behind those who ordered online the day before. There was a convuluted method of order management. The premise seemed efficient but reality of the process showed random other people being served vs those whose order numbers were published. NEVER AGAIN - UNSAT
Low stock due to covid-19 ????. Hoping Halifax Transit could have a bus stop nearby for those who want to browse or buy but don't have a car.
First time to IKEA. Lots to see and explore. Excellent bathroom facilities. Arrows on the floor to direct you as it can be somewhat oberwhelming to those who dont like crowds. The arrows helped however I still felt a little lost and that I may have missed something. Prices are either great or way over priced no in between. Really wanted to eat at the restaurant but the line up was insane and so not worth waiting.Didnt seem to be a lot of staff around in the different departments for help or assistance.
This IKEA is laid out very well. It's easy to navigate all the sections and it's clear hot to get from A to B. Easy traffic flow in and out of parking lot. Has cantine style food and a separate cafe on the second floor. Carts are available but not obvious where to get the carts.
My first choice for furniture. IKEA beats all competition in price, design, availability and quality. They offer different accessories section's where you get all your needed household items you want.
Ikea is always a place where you get what you pay for! Real value for your money. The more you spend, the better the quality!
Massive store. Quite the fun place to visit, but be sure to plan out at least a few hours if you decide to, as you'll end up spending a fair amount of time navigating the different showroom examples of furniture in use.
I bought a microwave more than a month ago. When I was ready to install it I found out it was smashed on one side. I called customer service to fix the issue. They took my name and transferred me to another area. I had to wait for someone to talk to for about an hour. They offered me a full refund if I brought the item back. I told them I lived 3 hours away and if they paid me the trip I could. After debating for a while I got the promise they would deliver a new one to my address and that they would send me a gif card for 25 over the mail. Christmas is over the due date for delivery has passed and I still haven't received my new microwave. Horrible horrible customer service and a very bad experience. They are so lucky our options in Nova Scotia are limited. No shopping back with them again. Watch it!!!
My favourite place ever. My family and I go for a half-day, and always do the restaurant for Swedish meatballs! Even my teenage stepson stays entertained by all the clever configurations and cool technologies. Everyone must go!
For IKEA fans its a great store, has everything you would expect. I just hate the fact if you want one item you have to trek through the whole entire store to get to the cash & get out!
Insane amount of selection, i always look forward to seeing what new things they have in the catalogue. The food in my experience is always good at the main cafeteria and the canteen. Some furniture is of cheaper quality but they do in my own opinion have plenty of good and solid quality furniture too. I personally enjoy putting ikea furniture together as well so that part of the ikea experience is typically quite fun for me too. Prices are decent and reasonable on most items. The store is typically very clean and well organized however it can be challenging to navigate during your first few visits, my advise is to just follow the arrows. I usually browse the website and catalogue before my visit and comprise a list of everything i want to check out when i visit the store. I love the showroom section of the store, its a very nice change to be able to see and interact with what youre interested in before you actually buy it, and the showroom also lends so many fantastic and creative ideas for your own spaces that youre shopping for. Ultimately one of my favourite places to shop, ikea has so much to offer.
Very good place to shop, only allowing 50% of capacity, lots of room for distancing from other shoppers and well marked.
I can spend whole day just shopping here. Bring a card with lots of room for swiping when you visit here. ????
Great service and usually has what I want. If it's not in stock it comes in pretty quickly
I always dread going here but their system is efficient and if you know what you want it's always quick and easy. Always busy so I make sure to have an idea of what i want to avoid the gaggle of geese that wander around the building. In and out ! Peace ✌
Ikea Halifax has terrible customer service. Last week I made a purchase at ikea, I didn’t have my phone on me because it was broken so I asked a staff member in the children section to write the item code and aisle/bin for the Ikea Flisat table for me. When I got down to the warehouse I couldn’t bring the Flisat with the item number I had written down on my own, so I gave a staff member the item number and the loaded it into my cart for me. I purchased the item and went home. When I opened the box to put it together, I realized I had a desk and not a table as I intended. Ikea has a desk, and a table both named FLISAT , my mistake. So finally the following week, today I got the chance to go in for an exchange, unfortunately I couldn’t find my receipt but when looking up the store policies I saw that I could likely exchange or get a gift card no issue since I hadn’t taken anything out of the box. I got there at 10:30 am with my toddler in-tow, and then waited 30 min in the rain so by the time I actually returned the desk it was after 11. When I got to the desk I explained the situation and requested an exchange instead of a return, the table is listed as 74 while the desk is 79, they told me I could not do an exchange because there was a price discrepancy. I was returned $78, onto a gift card (strange because I thought I remembered the cost of the desk being $79 + tax) and I was told I would need to take the gift card into the store , go back to the beginning of the store to get the table myself and purchase the Flisat table that way. At this point it was almost 11:30 so I figured I would need to get my son lunch there, whatever. While walking to restaurant, A staff member was literally so close behind me that she stepped on my ankles (what about social distancing?) I bit my tounge although I wanted to yell at her to back up. After I got my toddler lunch, we got cleaned up and made our way back to the area where I accidentally bought the desk the week before, at this point it was 12:30 pm, 2 hours since we got in line in the rain for returns. I get to the area and find out the table is SOLD OUT! Not only that, I was correct that the desk was $79 plus tax. What happened? Why was I only returned $67 plus tax? Why couldn’t the woman who made the Return when I wanted an exchange tell me the table was sold out so I didn’t waste an additional 1.5 hours in the store? I took my receipt to the nearest staff member and asked why I’d be returned only a portion of what The desk actually costs, they told me In order to speak to someone in returns I needed to go OUTSIDE in the rain, with my toddler to wait in the return line again. Upset, I left and on the way back to my car saw the return line wasn’t too long. I went to speak to someone manning the line quickly to ask why I was only returned a portion of what I paid, I had to wait while they went in to speak to someone in returns. Apparently, if returning something without a receipt they only give you the historical lowest sale price in the last 6 months. This is not something that’s written on their return policy receipts, ANYWHERE. Nor was it explained to me when I made the return, which I didn’t even want to do anyway, I had tried exchanging the desk for the lower price item, the table. Which they wouldn’t do even though I was clearly struggling with my toddler who was whining and wriggling to get our of the cart. I honestly just cannot believe the lack of customer service there, the lack of willingness to socially distance or help a parent who is struggling with their Toddler. It all would of been avoided if the lady at returns would have done as I asked and got a staff member to bring the table up to the front for me and do an easy exchange. Instead I waited in multiple lines and spent over 2 hours in the store, before leaving in tears out of frustrating and nothing to show for it aside from being short -$13
Great place almost got lost but I bought a nice skartska table and enjoyed their affordable hotdogs.
I LOVE IKEA!! Having moved to Canada from Europe, I really feel at home at IKEA. Friendly staff, good food and tons and tons of great ideas to copy in the showroom! IKEA furniture is very good (We had an IKEA kitchen for over 15 years in Italy) and it's super fun to build! Can't get enough of IKEA!!!
Their cash only lines are not worth waiting for, their shipping is expensive. Their products are high quality and a good value.
Huge new IKEA.
It's Ikea. If you've been to one you've been to them all. If you haven't been, be aware that this is a commitment. You're going to have to walk through the entire store (this is by design) and unless you have blinders on, that's about an hour minimum. There are 'shortcuts' but I've never been able to figure them out. Ask the staff if you want to try to master it. All that being said, Ikea reliably has all household needs at affordable prices. Many staple items and constantly coming up with new and innovative creations, particularly for storage and organization. My top fave Ikea items: -doll bed (can be used as an excellent cat bed, comes with classic Ikea bedding -not pictured-) -weaving loom (sold as a child's toy but is a very decent artist's tool. works great with yarn and a yarn needle instead of the provided fabric strips.) -plant stands (many options, all are cute and functional) -ficus for only $30!! I was delighted to discover this but held off buying because I don't want to have my heart broken. comforting to know it's there when I'm ready to try again. various other live plants. -lego. yup, Ikea sells Lego now
I genuinely love Ikea and this location is gorgeous. It's a bit out of the way (then again so is everything in Dartmouth crossing) but worth the extra few minutes in the car. Since it's so new it's very clean and the mural upstairs is super fun.
Anything home related you could need for (mostly) affordable prices, staff is always super friendly and super eager to help in any way. It is a big building and lots to see but signs are super easy to follow and the floor layout is an easy flow.
Great!!! A feast for the eyes!!!!!!! I was disappointed that I had to use my debit card to buy a $1.00 ice cream. I like having a human cashier!!!! Not a machine!!!!!!!
Got pretty much all you need to furnish a home, excellent layout, friendly staff, great food, has delivery services for an extra fee and you can order online and pick up later. Not super easily accesible without a car though.
This was, previously, a positive review for a standard ikea. No longer. I tried to place a click-and-collect order. The order was supposed to be ready the next evening between 4 and 6 and they were supposed to email when the order was ready for pickup and never did. I tried my best to contact the store or corporate to find out our order's status. No such luck. There was no effective way to communicate with them at all. Then, some 5 days later, I went to the store to investigate and complain. They told me that it was ready and had been and never offered any explanation, apology, or even an excuse. TL;DR customer service sucks and they don't care about you.
Make sure you have lots of time to shop as store is huge and confusing to say the least. Good breakfast 1/2 hour before store opening. In-house computer terminals item locator tab very small lettering, very hard to read.
Great place for small apartment furniture. It was laid out very well, and has a good mix of model rooms and typical shopping areas (with product on shelving and walls). I was able to look at the furniture I wanted to get, mark it down, then easily pick it all up from the warehouse section myself. They also have a loading zone in front of the store where you can park your car and load everything up, rather than dragging your new furniture through the parking lot. I only had two issues. One, we were unable to easily find an elevator at the entrance (my grandmother was unable to use the escalator). Two, if you get separated from the people you are shopping with, there's a good chance you will need someone to page them, as cell phone service is almost non-assistant in there.
I enjoyed a happy and healthy meal at the IKEA restaurant. I often visit here. I love IKEA.♡♡♡
Ikea is the best place to buy reasonably priced furniture in halifax. In my opinion it's much better than Leons or the atrium without the pressure of commission sales staff the prices are cheaper and the quality is right up there. It's worth it to go if you want to save money and have great looking modern furniture.
Fair warning, don't try bring your coffee in. The security guard at the door will make you toss it only for you to immediately see an employee stroll past with a timmies in their hand.
It's Ikea... need I say more!
Great spacious and bright showroom, the food is delicious, and for a store pushing it's environmental friendliness it succeeds. Would be nice if they didn't include straws in their displays as they aren't environmentally friendly or sustainable and if you don't own a car it's a bit of a stretch to get there but overall IKEA is doing a great job in leading companies to a more sustainable brick and mortar store!
An exhausting experience to walk through. Very large with tons of selection. Check out was very quick even though it was opening weekend. Pizza and hot dog from the canteen were delicious and very cheap along with a drink. Less than $3.
IKEA is AWESOME! They have great home furnishing products at great prices; healthy, responsible, and affordable food ( restaurant, take-out, or grocery style ); are a great employer; and ( the thing I love most ) they show inspirational leadership in sustainability & social responsibility :) ...while I’m sitting here in the restaurant having a great warm breakfast while my electric car charges outside ( where it’s crazy cold today ) so I can continue my commute home :)
It's well managed and there are some great deals, but I've never felt so much like a sheep...they purposely make the place huge and confusing so you havta' follow arrows on the floor to get out...and this meandering route takes you past every piece of merchandise they sell. Well played IKEA, well played.
Great selection of so many different things. Fun just to browse, even. And grab a warm cinnamon bun and coffee for a few bucks after you sample some yummy Daim (chocolate-covered hard toffee) or chips in the Market.
Nice and cheap, good foods are there
I just moved here from California and the following people were incredible to me. Helpful, knowledgeable, and really showed that Halifax charm everyone keeps talking about. Good customer service goes a really long way. You guys made my transition that much easier! Troy, Abigail, Braden, Tristan and Abdullah. Hope I’m spelling your names right. Thanks again and see you soon!
Don't be scared by the amount of cars in the parking lot - a store of this size can easily handle a large volume of people. The store itself is like any other Ikea - well laid out and easy to navigate when following signage. Stock has been an issue on a couple of visits (due to it being new and the demand so high) but a quick check online before a visit will help determine what is there / what isn't. Staff are friendly, even when swamped and the space is neat & tidy.
First time at IKEA today. Love the products and the way the store is laid out so you can see what things will look like in the room displays! Definitely will be back! Thank you to Lisa Adams for the extra attention she gave us when we needed additional product information!
There was a lot of stuff, the carts are cool, and my baby girl liked all the lights. So 5 out of 5 stars.
Stopped for lunch. good lunch at a great price. Good place for a long walk! :)
Super huge! I get lost everytime I go! They have a very wide selection of furniture from living room bathroom bedroom, kitchen and also a huge selection of house decors and accessories, they have a food court which is very well priced and have the best prices for a good quality!!
Staff are great, polite, and generally helpful. Going in for a specific item or display can be tedious as the shortcuts are hard to spot, only helped a bit by the straight line "map". My biggest complaint is that Checkout and order retrieval are very slow. Although I've been unlucky with a difficult order in front of me each visit. Ikea quality is generally decent, you get what you pay for.
When we decided to remodel the kitchen and floor of our home, a main consideration was whether to work with an interior designer or not. The main reason was the budget. We had worked with an interior designer in the past and were familiar with the process. The key for us was to find someone that would understand the vision and concept of our plans and have the ability to integrate these plans with their professional expertise and resources. After researching and interviewing various interior designers and we finally found Ikea. We liked Ikea because they listened carefully and understood what we were trying to accomplish while being and personable and genuine. They was sensitive to our needs and was able to translate our ideas and budget into a realistic plan. The saying “you don’t know what you don’t know” describes what a person begins to realize when encountering the extent and complexity of an interior decorating project performed correctly. We realized that having a person we could trust and depend on was key to the overall success. After lengthy discussions with Ikea regarding everything involved in the project, we realized that Ikea Interiors was the one for us.
Worst ikea in canada... they have nothing in stock. If you order and pay for it for pick up they dont even hold it for you... yet have no problem taking your money... dont even bother looking online availability always says out of stock so one might as well just go, as what you see there is what you get... ask the staff if they know if they will be getting more??..the answer is always I dont know, could be???... been going to ikea since the 80' in other provinces and was better then... sad
Lovely place to get lunch and buy a bunch of "make yourself" furniture. No need to be handy with the easy to follow instructions. Great for a new house or apartment/condo.
IKEA never disappoints! I've been to 2 other stores across Canada and the Halifax location is wonderful. Two floors full of product. I love that they have the show rooms so that you can see , feel, touch the products before you buy.
Sometimes the place is full of people and completely empty but other times there is stuff and not too many people. I wouldn't go at this time just because of how big all the lineups are.
Absolutely love IKEA and the staff here are so helpful! I love how organized the store is . Some products are amazing and good great quality but remember you get what you pay for !
Lines move quickly, to get in and to get out. Staff are there and helpful at the check out. Still an enjoyable shopping experience.
Always fun to go to Ikea. It would be nice if the staff were a little more helpful - grab a flatbed cart for you when you have a large order, tell you if you selected the wrong doors for your PAX closet, take one of your carts up front so you can continue shopping with ease...that said, the store is clean & beautiful. There is a method to everything. Assembly was easy. Looking forward to returning.
Always leave with more than expected!
Of course they have great products; that's a no-brainer. The layout is something to be desired and can be a bit cumbersome to get around. I haven't had any interactions with the staff other than the cashiers so can't really speak to their helpfulness.
It can get a bit pricey but overall I really enjoy going to IKEA and purchasing a few things. I wish there were more of them!!!
Most affordable housing before you get 6/49!
Good prices and service!
I understand there is a pandemic, but, compared to other stores, IKEA is a bit on the slow game; Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ikea, but I just feel let down by an online order I made 9 weeks ago (yes, it took 9 weeks to get my confirmation e-mail). However, I to tried to call customer service to change my address since I have moved to a new house and I've been on wait 2+ hours now on the phone... how much more can I hold on?, and there is no chat option online for some reason (It actually worked but was put on hold for 2 hours for sales team) EDIT: Finally got a hold of customer service (tip, call on a Sunday at noon, it seems to be less busy); The lady on the phone was very nice and offered a refund since I never got my packages. IKEA :)
Restaurant was closed and their excuse was because of Covid. Every other restaurant is now open. We went to build a bathroom and kitchen and they now charge for consultations, $39 / 2 hrs. The sink and vanity and mirror I picked for the bathroom were all out of stock and I only found out after making my way thru the store and hitting the warehouse to find out all was out of stock. The employees attitude was to shrug his shoulders and give me a "sorry". I told him we were from 3 hrs away and no mention of comping the shipping when in stock. I picked up a spatula which just happened to be the "demonstrator" model and instead of the cashier removing the tag and selling it to me, she said she was not allowed to sell me that one. We have been to Ikea many times without an issue but they seem to have really dropped the ball during Covid. The bathroom was not available and the kitchen was left behind and I left frustrated. Way to go Ikea. Even the worlds most loved store can stoop to new lows in customer service.
Love IKEA. Always at least one great find - bath mats, bathrobes, cooking utensils, lights. Restaurant has great prices. Need degree to find way around. Always surprise myself when I find my way out.
The staff at this IKEA have been excellent to deal with. They have answered many of our questions and have been extremely helpful. We had an issue getting our IKEA family card printed through the self serve kiosk and several staff came to our rescue. Someone should post a store map though, just for those times when you need to get straight to the checkout rather than follow those arrow images projected on the floor :)
Staff is always helpful, make sure you have water it is a long hike to get through. My wife and I always end up coming out of Ikea with a ton of things. Fantastic place for planning rooms, getting furniture, and other odds and ends. Also has a restaurant if you need a food break. Great place to go.
Fun to come here so much to see good prices usually.
Bought 3 shades for the window after research, installed first and once opened couldn't close again, second one didn't roll back properly... returned them all. Waited at least half an hour for my turn at customer service to return. Merchandise are usually appealing to see but poor quality Will not likely to go there anytime soon
It's IKEA. What more could you want out of a home furnishing store? Plus $1 hot dogs, are you kidding??
Always find neat things there. I always leave happy!
I'm not a shopper but this place impressed me. The facility is well designed. Comfortable shoes are recommended because seeing it all will take a while. Their sample displays really help show off the products. And those cafeteria prices are dirt cheap. Try the cinnamon buns. Decent coffee too.
Not your typical shopping experience. Very frustrating to get answers or find anyone to help you. Finally found out that if they are out of stock you cannot order or pre pay for anything at the store. Would not even take my name and number to let me know when they had stock. I feel this is very poor customer service, even if it is policy.
They had the perfect shelf to fit in a tiny corner of my room. Assembly wasn't too hard either. I'm not a big fan of their meatballs though.
Just waste my time and gas...staffs r really friendly N nice though, I can not buy what I want. .a half of the products I bought are detective..+ always OUT OF STOCK. .there's no notification at all from IKEA. ..
IF YOU LOVE WATCHING OFFICE SPACE YOU WILL BE ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING BY THE END OF YOUR VISIT. Visited on May 19th to purchase one cabinet with shelves in it. Steps required: 1- very helpful kitchen agent generated an order sheet for the desired purchase 2- paid for the order 3- waited 30 minutes for the order to be picked 4- asked why there was a delay and learned one component was out of stock until Monday and was then instructed to do the following: 5- take the available components with me -------------------------NOTE: shopping mission should have CONCLUDED here!! 6- wait in line at customer service for a refund on the one out of stock item 7- return to the store Monday 8- visit kitchen agent for a new order for the one missing part 9- pay for the new order 10- wait for the new order to be picked I advised the pickup agent I would return Monday to collect the entire order as I was not dealing with steps 5 thru 10 above because they sold me a component that was not in stock and I had no interest in paying for their inefficient system with my time. He said " you can't do that" so I left. It was a nice day outside and I had no interest in standing in more lines. I returned to Ikea May 23rd with all documentation to collect my order and observed a much more patient couple ahead of me leave with their order minus two pieces and then go stand in line for a refund. They had driven much further than I did. ( I observed two customers endure the same ordeal during this visit) Then It was my turn and the agent indicated he could do nothing during my visit and had to initiate an "investigation" the next day to confirm I didn't take the items that were picked 4 days prior as "you're not supposed to leave without taking the order and processing the refund on out of stock items" A subsequent business day has come and gone without the promised phone call or email to resolve this. I wonder what they will do with my $480.00? There are awesome and cheerful people in this organization perpetually apologizing for the ludicrous protocols. Perhaps if the founder was less frugal and actually purchased a kitchen component from his empire he would have endured this crazy labyrinth of processes and realized it requires improvement.
I mean, it's ikea. You get what you expect. Unfortunately, due to covid the restaurant is only open on 3 days a week, which is disappointing. Its easy and not too crowded.
Good Prices very slow service.Store was not busy, kiosk did not say where to pick up item, information desk had long line to get pick order, long wait at cash, then very long wait at pick up counter because one guy was barely working and Everyone else was just standing around. We finally got to leave at around 10 pm but we were in the warehouse ready to pick it around 8:30. An hour and a half for them to figure it out. Store wasn’t even busy it was Tuesday evening
Furniture is one thing, but the Pork Shoulder is fantastic. This meal should be on the regular menu instead of the seasonal. I ate this 4 times since it came out. Juicy and delicious.
Easy in and out taking into consideration the circumstances we live under today. Once inside the store, unfortunately not everyone was observing pandemic protocols with respect to following THE arrows marked on the floor. Pricing is very competitive and may be considered less expensive than most places carrying similar products. The store had some very cool and interesting ideas for the home and Xmas ideas. Due to the size of the store and the diversity of products, it is NOT a store one can run in and run out of. Do yourself a favor and ensure you allow enough time to make your visit to this store productive. I was there fir an hour and half and could have stayed so much longer.
Great place to shop, especially for Christmas presents for family and friends. Also their products whether they are flat-packed furniture or even dishes are packed efficiently and securely. For example, on Christmas morning, my dad forgot that one of their gifts to me was wine glasses and tossed the box to me. Thankfully the glasses didn't break or even jostle. They also manage to get products back in stock pretty quickly too after they run out. My only wish is that they would have inside parking like the IKEAs in some other cities like Ottawa.
Massive. Seems to have everything that Ikea Canada sells in one location. despite visiting on a Saturday, we were able to find parking close to the entrance. Finding your way around the first time may be a little overwhelming, but you'll get through it.
Finally, an IKEA location in the Maritimes! I easily could spend 2-3 hours here. This location is brand new, so it is very busy. I did not even attempt to order food as the line was longer than airport security. I absolutely recommend IKEA to anyone looking for relatively cheap, good quality furniture.
Great store and fantastic food. We come here a lot just to eat. The food is insanely well priced, and good quality. We usually get the veggie meatballs, but all meals are great here. The best part is, you can buy all their food products to take home too. The service in the store is great, and we have also purchased several pieces of furniture here and been very happy.
3 stars not because of the store, but because of the restaurant. For some reason they always run out of all the items and expect customer to wait 8+ minutes Has happened multiple times and not even during dinner or lunch rush They need to hire an experienced manager to manage the restaurant because it's. About ridiculous This has happened on multiple occasions, not just one experience Really annoying and the staff aren't that friendly, I understand they are stressed but it all goes back to them.needing better management
We love our IKEA purchases. Made to last and efficiently designed, right down to the packaging. The store is layed out in such a way that it's not designed for a quick in and out shopping experience, but you are likely to find a few things you didn't think you needed along the way.
The store was very quiet when visited. A lot of items were not in stock however staff was helpful to confirm.
Love the IKEA store! So much to see and explore.
It's like a winter wonderland with furniture! I still haven't even seen the entire store, but what I have seen is amazing! The staff are also great, but next time I'll be eating elsewhere because I wasn't a big fan of the food.
Went after 6 pm on a Monday. It's a great time to go if you're not a fan of crowds. If you're hungry I recommend the swedish meatball plate and the frozen yogurt for dessert.
This place Is massive. They have everything you could enter need to decorate or upgrade a home. They also have a very large selection of smaller ideas like candles that make this store well worth the visit.
So yes, the furniture is solid, the prices are great and the place is easy to find and very clean, but ordering furniture and the checkout/ collection process was pretty bad (long wait) and they couldn't deliver to my address - 16km away! A lot of items were also out of stock. The maribou chocolate bar with the skor bar bits in it was delicious however and highly recommended!.
A lot of items we looked for were not in stock.
I love Ikea and they're doing a really good of adjusting to the pandemic. I miss being able to sit down for some meatballs, as the upstairs restaurant is closed, but the downstairs is still serving for take out. Unfortunately ikea's stock is being affected by pandemic issues, but that's no fault of the staffs.
Customer service was way off, the guy at the self serve cash acted like I bothered him and took his attention away from his cell phone, very disappointing.
All I can say is I enjoyed it a lot better than I did the last time I visited Ikea which was in Edmonton and I almost lost my lunch. For some reason the vibration plays havoc on your stomach like crazy.
I always like ikea. Bin going there last 3 years with a tractor trailer but suttenly I was told I was no longer welcome and if I wanted something I can order it online ore park the truck on a very busy road. Never had problem and with the covid u will think they don't care were the money comes from. I am from NB and deliver in NS. For the rest nice shop. Lots of ideas and friendly staff (OK exempt the last security guy)
Store is a well laid out warehouse. Has nice showcases to give you ideas. Improvements to the online website make finding exactly what you came for easier. Works for me as I don't like it spend too long looking for something
Found what we were looking for. No one asked if we had any questions or needed help. However I don't know if they do that there as a practice or not. Store was very clean and well stocked.
I like Ikea however when I went through the self checkout the lady that was there to help ripped the boxes I had purchased out of my hands and made a show of checking inside the box. When she was done she shoved them back into my hands, scowled and turned around without saying a word. I felt embarrassed as she was treating me like a criminal. I understand they have to check closed items however there are better ways that could have been done.
First time going to the Halifax store, no kids so we took our time and enjoyed looking and making plans. ????
Plenty of styles and designs of all sizes and shapes in many colors. This places has many European inspired design for maximum use of space with furnitures. This place is a must see for your new move in apartment & new home. Be sure to have plenty of time for your visit because you will needed it. Yes it's that big.
Great place to shop...so glad Ikea came to Metro Halifax. So many great ideas for furnishing and organizing the home. The cafeteria is a great place to rest and grab a bite to eat!
Very organised and friendly environment, you find almost everything you need at good quality and reasonable prices, not to mention the great food and restaurant section view ❤️
If only I could take the room setups home. They are so cozy and space efficient. I try but I guess dirty clothes and dishes will thwart my best attempts.
A wide selection of lightweight furniture and an exellent cafeteria area. The meatballs are, of course, wonderful.
Every corner I turn I feel like I'm home. Comfortable place to sit back and relax, utilize the wifi and even catch a few zzz's. The staff are friendly, almost like family, always coming into my place seeing how I'm doing, if they can get anything, just fantastic.
Fun, interesting, very friendly staff, overwhelming for a first timer (girlfriend) same concept as IKEA in France, so felt like home. Very well organized for such a large store. Will come back. Please consider selling Aquavit as European IKEA
Always enjoy Always have what you want in there But sometimes they put items in show room that not in stock items....... I think they shouldn’t do that because it’s make the costumers disappointing especially when they asked so many times about this items Generally, great place to make your home perfect I’m with IKEA from 1990 until now
Best place to shop for for your home's furniture
Clean store Knowledgeable staff , FABULOUS eatery with good food at a great price. The store is too large for those with mobility issues to navigate. Handy bus access.
Wasn't what I thought it was going to be alot of hipe here kind of a little disappointed with what a saw the store is huge tons of stuff to pick from more of a warehouse feel then store I think for it to be a productive shopping experience you should have a good idea what your looking for unless your an impulse buyer then I hope you have a lot of money because the selection is huge and I think you'll feel like you need one of everything I think that's the idea of this store but for me it's to much and we ended up leaving with very little and said if we were to go back it would be with an idea of want we would be shopping for not just walking around lost I think the service was fair seemed to alot of help around if needed it also the prices seemed very reasonable not sure about the quality but it appears to be ok for the price and from what other customers have told me they have been happy with thier purchases
Great choices of furniture and furnishings. Always my go to wherever I am. It is a bit inconvenient, since it is far from Halifax, and the delivery fee is 99 bucks. However, the designs are amazing. Totally recommend, just be aware of how you can bring the stuffs back.
One of the biggest IKEAs I've ever been to, and I've been to Ontario! You knowbhow big things are out that way! Seriously though, I'm blown away by this place. It's bigger on the inside than it looks from the out, and it looks like a freaking hilltop fortress. You can see it for miles. I'm still waiting for the day when that ginormous sign takes off like a sail and ends up somewhere in Northern Maine.
Calming. Just walking through is so calming. Nice, spacious feeling and leaves one impressed with our human ingenuity - so many ways to organize your home! The soothing repetition of nature which repeats itself again and again…. We got some great towels and cutlery at a great price for the quality.
Awesome even that you are not planning to buy nothing. Its good for have ideas , and the restaurant is very good and cheap.
The assembly person was extremely unhelpful; he claimed that he had been booked to assemble only 2 items, whereas there were 3 in the order. He refused to take any packaging material back with him, not even gathering it into one pack. I am 74 years old and have no means of doing this job myself and tidying up afterwards was one of the reasons why I booked an assembly service at $80 was just this; to avoid doing this myself! The man's name is Richard and he should not be allowed to give IKEA a bad reputation. This is obviously the last time I will order such a service from IKEA, and in the future I will purchase only pre-assembled furniture from Wayfair (AND with free sipping!). Also, one of the items ordered was delivered with a kind of a net (don't know what it was for), which must have been there for a purpose. This man Richard didn't know either and simply took it away with him, although he didn't remove a single scrap of cardboard or plastic! I am not impressed!
Loved the store, its huge, its well stocked, and its beautiful. Their system of locating items to buy from the display rooms is a bit of a learning curve. The store is set up almost to sell everything without any help from the store staff, which is a bonus because both times I sought help i was unable to find a staff member within a sensible distance to help me. Even despite that I would not hesitate to return, I would just save my questions for the well staffed and helpful warehouse portion of the store.
Lots of people love it because it was very busy, but it's not for me. Just a huge maze and the school cafeteria was unimpressive. I was there twice, but there won't be a third time. Too much of a challenge to spend my money there.
Really had an awful time here with a few of the staff members. We were there on the 4th of march in the afternoon roughly 1-4 pm. an older women in the sofa department was very rude in dealing with us and our children. Watching them closely as if thieves to her warehouse set up. we parent with a keen eye and don't let them disrespect places. She was strict and judgemental when directing us to return a item just removed from here display... it was an immediate call to action. We received simpler treatment in the toy area. The hair dyed employee shadowed our every step. Kids got excited to see all the marvelous dolls and toys. BUT DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING AS OUR EMPLOYEE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE NUISANCE I'm sure ikeas goal is not to set up displays to only look at. They don't define the mission statement of IKEA. I would advise this staff behavior be effectively dealt with. Food in the food court was midioaker, but at least the staff here was marvelous to deal with. they are deserve a pat on the back. Happy to try again someday soon... as for those two staff members... they make me want to shop online to avoid being ridiculed in public.
Fun walking through all the showrooms but they had 0 of 2 of the things we wanted by the time we got to the end where the warehouse was. Cafeteria was ok food but cheap! Long lines. Suggest having a computer/iPad at every showroom that lists the inventory for all items in that showroom to show if the item is still available or not (kind of a waste of time walking through all 30 something sections only to not be able to find the item we wanted).
Went looking for an item in stock according to website. Checked with help desk to see if there may be any in stock elsewhere in the warehouse, they did not even check their inventory system, just dismissed the request even after I had asked if they could help me purchase it for pick up at a later date, saw the same associate shortly after finding it on the online inventory asked how accurate that was, his response was "not very" Extremely poor service and care, realistically if employees are only willing to be this helpful they can save a substantial amount of money by eliminating the help desk and those employees, Will not be returning to this location for any further purchases.
Thank goodness they came back. We just ordered pretty much all our living and kit hen stuff from here. Can not wait. Such great sales too.
Its a massive shop and we had a great shopping experience today. You can find any furniture and or any other home stuffs including the items for kitchen and bathroom at IKEA under one roof. But it seems there are not enough employees to assist customers. You can get your food and beverages while you shopping, as there are restaurants in the building.
Massive store with an onsite restaurant. Those famous meatballs are available, plus a few beers (would be cool to see Swedish or local microbrews instead).
Excellent store, so glad we have one in Halifax now! It's a great experience and pretty fun to make a day of it. The furniture is nice and can fit into any home nicely. It can be a bit difficult and time consuming to put together but I don't mind having to do that for a great price of the furniture. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Definitely recommended for furnishing a first home!
Very clean. Friendly staff went above and beyond.
Personally I don't like Ikea, just don't like idea of paying big money for low quality furniture and after spending hours building it. But it looks like this model is successful all over the world. I heard they spend a lot of time and money for food quality standards, thumbs up for this
Nice, bright store, large displays and plenty of space to navigate the aisles. Same look and feel as most other IKEA stores.
It's IKEA, just as good as anywhere :)
It's an Ikea, exactly the same as every other Ikea I've ever been to: a maze with bits of cheese scattered throughout. If you don't like crowds, go during the week. I'm giving them 4 stars rather than 3 because the regular brewed coffee is delicious. At only $1 (and refillable if you choose to sit in the cafe that long), it's the best piece of cheese in this whole damn place.
Omnidirectional shopping carts, building the size of an airport, "go and get it from the stock room yourself" furniture, Swedish meatballs and strangely the best Salmon you can buy anywhere.. Yet still somehow pleasing.
This is destination shopping done right!
Always a hreat experience while shopping for furnitures and other goodies. Plus, the food there is just yummy! It's a 7 star!
I'm going to focus my review on the food court. We went there with the family for lunch before tackling the store. Everyone took something different, including desserts. Everything was delicious. And the prices was ridiculously low! We all want to go eat there again soon. Seriously, try the desserts. It's nothing super fancy of course, but they are really good!
It really big and easy to get lost in. I found that it took a lot of effort to find an employee to get any additional information from. They push for customers to use the IKEA phone app while shopping (gives information about the product and organizes it in a shopping list). The app sucks. It uses your phones camera to scan the tags to bring up the item. I was using the samsung Galaxy 8 at the time and it rarely worked
It was a very interesting place. You need a lot of time the first time you go because it's a bit of a labrynth and can be difficult to find your way out. Some items were intriguing but I didn't know what they were and none of the packaging has English descriptions, which is part of the shtick, but not helpful. The food was decent and cheap and the pear water was delicious. There's definitely a pretensive air about the place but if you can ignore thst and focus on yourself and ignore everyone else it's all good. The prices are good.
Warm and welcoming with that classic Ikea charm, always a pleasure to visit. Great products, great prices. Really glad to see the safety measures they've put in place. COVID has caused a lot of issues with keeping items in stock, which is understandable. Only downside is they seem low on staff -- have had trouble getting help multiple times. Had to assist three separate people with finding things because staff were busy/absent.
I would give the full stars if not for the difficulty of reaching the place unless you have a car! Please ikea manahers, work with Halifax transit to provide a bus station near ikea (or as many as needed). I love the delivery and assembly service so much!
Great place to dream, plan, and make your dream into a reality. Look how the experts layout a small space and make it work.
Love going here.. one of our top stops when traveling to the area
We are totally disappointed, we are not coming back anymore,!!!!!! my wife purchased some Xmas lights set yesterday October 17, by the time we arrived to home, she realised it is missing the unique wires to be connected, we were to returned it today, but the clerk after talked to her supervisor refused to accept the return, said that even though the wires is missed, the set was on sale therefore it was a final sale, we said the item is useless with out the wires, but she did net understand and refuse gave us our money back.
This is a great store with a variety of rooms set up to give you ideas of what you can do in your own home. The prices seem reasonable to me. However, no comparisons were made with other stores with similar items. There is not much they don't have, even a food court set up half way through! You will get your "steps" in going through this Ikea.
Not status quo here. If you are bored with what you got and even need special solutions to interior decorating problems, Ikea has solutions for everything. Very modern and intelligent furnishings and for awesome pricing! Can't beat that! Oh and the Sweedish meatballs are great too!
The "Unofficial Swedish Embassy " in Dartmouth Crossing is full of just about anything for your home except the roof . I was going to except the kitchen sink but unless I'm mistaken, I am sure that they have them as well(refer to their latest catalogue) . Even if you have an allergy to all things allen key, the Scandinavian cuisine in the big blue and yellows' cafeteria is exceptionally delicious and if you love what they serve you, take it home with a quick and easy no hassle purchase at the IKEA market on the lower level. Oh btw the staff is friendly and helpful as well. Enjuta!
Found lots of inspiration in the gallery upstairs. Got lost there for longer than I'd like to admit before I found my way out of the maze of fake rooms. Great meatballs. 10/10
This is my happy place. I can choose natural, sustainable furnishings, they mostly fit into my little car except for things like beds and large items. Delivery can be expensive, though, so plan your shopping accordingly for optimization. They have excellent prices on energy efficient light bulbs and a place to recycle your used batteries. IKEA used to be considered the place to shop if you were either 18 and moving out or 35 and in the throws of a divorce. Now they are still great for those two demographics but also for anyone who wants products that are more earth friendly. Also great for the budding minimalist. ( If you are young and considering your first place, look up the minimalist movement]
Found the price game not fear, as just a different color would affect the price in 50%. You also have to be a handyman in order to build your furniture from the box: in this case you understand that most of the product simply overpriced
Very good prices with wide range of varieties They basically show you how to design your house and how to decorate it . All home needs like kitchen , bedroom , office , kids room everything available at one place. Easy to access simply keep walking through different sections you will find everything you need at reasonable prices.
Inexpensive furniture (quality is better than expected but still fair for the price), helpful staff, surprisingly quick checkout times, cheap food. Layout is a maze and food is hospital quality – but not a huge deal considering they even offer such a nice eating area.
IKEA restaurant had good food but the line up was a bit long.
It’s IKEA who can go wrong?
Huge store. Clean n bright. Bit confusing if u have never been in one. Plenty of well placed signs to help navigate. Friendly, helpful staff. Plan on most of a day if you are just browsing and want to see it all.
I wanted a particular item. Needed 3 pair of drapes. I live in Nova Scotia. The Halifax store only had one pair. Boucherville, Quebec store has 8 pair. According to IKEA there is no way that I can order from another store.
It's difficult to review an IKEA because they are so consistent everywhere. It sure is nice to have one here in Halifax though! The prices are pretty great, the layout is confusing and the food is cafeteria style (like elsewhere). Bought some blinds and they were a greast deal. Loved the vegan "meat"balls at the cafeteria
There is something about IKEA that makes me feel glad to be an adult. Their displays are inspiring; after each visit I feel compelled to redesign my entire house. The variety of their wares is incredible. I love their simplistic Scandinavian designs most of all, but really appreciate the fact that you can also buy statement pieces their as well. Best of all, their prices are lower than most big box stores! IKEA simply can't be beat.
Very friendly service! Not easy to find things and get in and out! Needs more readable maps or people to provide directions.
This a big store even by Ikea standards. When it first opened it was very crowded. Not now. We furnished most of our appointment with product from this store. The store is almost a tourist attraction. It is not uncommon to see NB and PEI cars in the parking lot. You often see people taking selfies in the store. It is well run and has a vast selection of everything. I like the model home and apartments furnished on the second floor. The cafeteria is very good value.
Good furniture for students, looking to buy something new that will be fit to be left behind in a couple of years or less. Extremely hard to navigate store. Food is terrible too.
Always good prices, solutions and lots of options! Our new house looks amazing. Almost 100% IKEA decor! ????
Simply walking around to get inspiration is nice. We did that while it was storming, so it felt like a nice shelter. I enjoy seeing them create and display room design ideas, plus using places around Dartmouth and Halifax through the windows!
I could lose myself (intentionally) in the decor and environment for hours upon hours and be okay with it. You can make your visit a relatively quick trip as well (but who would want that?).
Great spot! Lots of great options for home decor. Be sure to give yourself lots of time!
Loved walking around seeing new things
I love this store. But I HATE that so many things have been "temporarily oversold"....2 things I wanted were.....
Their veggie balls were delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful.
It had been many years since visiting an IKEA. We were looking at bedding and our search for the exit ended in a panic. The exits from the showroom to the entrance/exit area are not clearly marked. Thanks to some helpful staff we discovered that we were walking in circles. Mental health is no joke and a visit to IKEA could turn into someones worst nightmare. Will not return unless dragged kicking and screaming.
Always love visiting this store. Clean and well laid out!
Want to hear about some really great customer service? We ordered an IKEA couch in store over a week ago to be delivered and assembled today, since we both work and have no other option for it to be assembled. We are talking about over 10 huge boxes that are about to get dumped onto my floor. The assembly team showed up to no couch that had been delivered yet. Apparently someone thought booking the assembly team for 9-5 and the delivery for between 1-5 was a great idea. I'm now being told I need to rebook for another day for assembly because of their mistake so I was have to walk around all of these boxes for over a week. This error was entirely avoidable. I asked why I'm now being bumped to the end of the assembly line for the day when I was clearly penciled before others and I'm being told they won't change it. Honestly, they are offering NOTHING to help us now other than "we can refund you the assembly charge and you do it yourself". We've had to rebook for the middle of the week on a day when my husband is supposed to be away from home hoping that it shows up during the time he is home simply because they will do nothing for us today. Thanks for the "great" service, IKEA.
I have kinda a love hate relationship with this store. I love Ikea don't get me wrong...it's I go in to buy a comforter and walk out with a comforter....and a whole dining room set, a couch, dishes I didn't know I needed, lights that aren't practical but look cool 2 dressers that I spend the next 4 days Trying to build and a picture too big for my wall. And I'm broke again
Best deals on mattresses! Food is not worth trying. Hands down the place to go for apartment furniture. The sell a large selection of house plants and pet friendly items, as well. Always very busy - but they do have organizational systems in place for parking and crowd control that keeps the foot traffic flowing. An asset to the HRM.
The employees are very helpful and it helped me enjoy my visit. The showroom is amazing and I am completely satisfied with my visit. We found what we were looking for and we will order it online and get it shipped to our home. The restaurant prices are a bit on the pricey side but other than that it was perfect.
Came here for lunch and shopping. 5 stars for the food! Great tasting food for a great price! The only thing we were not impressed with was the mac and cheese. I think the noodles were way overdone, so much that they were just mush. Shopping as always is inspiring. The kids wanted to go play but unfortunately it was full, as expected. Maybe expand the kids zone? We would of shopped way longer had there been child care :)
They are not monitoring crowd close enough hard to keep 6' apart when crowd sre shoulder to shoulder
Restaurant opens only 3 days a week. After lots of walking (its Ikea guys you have to walk), I bought a mattress, a computer table from AS IS area. I felt hungry so we went to the restaurant, it was closed. sadly i came downstairs to see what they are selling so we can eat something. A customer service came running to me and demanded to see receipt, she could have asked nicely, hmmm ok, ..that was offending, like I am carrying the whole big mattress and full table in my cart, you don't think anyone will steal such big items. I showed her receipt and explained that I went to your restaurant and came back as it was closed. Be careful guys not everyone is nice.
I want to live here. I love how the rooms are set up to give you decorating ideas. Great prices and quality. Helpful staff. I love the cafe. Next time I go back, I am totally buying all the candy!
I really like this Ikea it has everything you need for your home the prices aren't bad and the quality of the furniture is really good and they have a very friendly stop
Amazing. Love this place. The restaurant is really good value. Pick your visit time though - it gets really busy. Go for breakfast at 930 then the store itself opens at 10 so you are all good to go.
Very well laid out store. I do suggest taking pictures of the tags on items you’re interested in; it will help in the warehouse section. Prices were good and the quality isn’t bad! Furniture assembly was a breeze on all items.
It's virtually impossible to enter and leave empty handed.
Love the cafeteria. Good food at a good price. Top of the line store, easy to locate what you are looking for. Glad they are back. People may not know that IKEA was here years ago in burnside, first store in Canada. When they closed that store I never thought they would be back.
Ikea is always a great place to go to let your imagination grow to better your home in every way. Not to mention that Santa walks around the store during the holiday season to find gift ideas for everyone. But keep that hush the kids will be surprised when they get there.
Quite disappoint their inventory stock remain, I feel a lot of furnitures stock remain in low level that makes hard to collect all items at once for delivery. In logistic not flexible, only ship within 7 days from purchase date.
The store is good; it has a lot of products; but the cashier check out is another story. It was only 40 minutes after the store opening. The line up for the checkout is already towards the end of warehouse. They should open more self serves checkout and the person asked about pay by card or cash does not know what they are doing either. Still had to wait once you get to self check out area.
Solid store though stock is hit and miss, but that's what online ordering is for.
Fantastic place and staff. Store is massive and I was blow away with the sheer amount f stuff that is for sale here. Two restaurants and you can buy all the food from the restaurants in a grocery store down stairs. They have a room where you can drop your kids off well you shop and someone will watch them for you.
Always a good time at Ikea. I got some new plant pots and had a hard time choosing. So many!
I loved it here! Everything had a modern vine which I really liked. Also, the food in the cafeteria was delicious despite the price. I think it's amazing that the market downstairs is kept open even after the cafeteria closes because it makes it convenient for others. In addition to that IKEA makes and arranges the furniture with small spaces in mind, so it's great for a lot of the homes here!
This certainly is not a place to go for a quick stop. First you walk a kilometer to get into the store from your car (no matter where it is parked). Then you walk another quarter kilometer to get to the goods. If you want to browse its another 3 kilometer walk around the upstairs to see what you want to buy then downstairs to pick up what you are going to buy. Then stand in line to make your final purchase. Thank gosh they have a snack counter inside the door because you need it before you leave so you have energy to walk back out to your car. There is a restaurant upstairs, never ate there so cannot comment on that. Not sure about the quality of the articles in IKEA because I see a lot of them on buy and sell sites online everyday.
They stand by their products, even if you aren't the original owner. I was gifted a pullout couch that was missing some pieces, and even though they didn't have them in store, they ordered them to be shipped to my home, free of charge. Now that's what I call great customer service.
Nice layout and the rooms created really help to visualize how furniture could work in your home.
Great products, love my new table
Huge, maze-like store with directions that aren't always clearly marked. Takes about 45 minutes to walk through all sections, but it's spacious and laid out to catch the eye. Best to plan ahead on specific purchases else it's tempting to buy something just because they laid it out in an attractive setting - they have good interior designers for showcasing their products.
It wasn't as big as I thought it would be but it was easy to get lost in. I went with my parents and we ended up buying a kettle. I bought a piece of pizza and had some raspberry fruit water. So good.
Love this store wish it would come to moncton.
Terrible logistics and customer service. Can't get into the queue with chat, waiting for hours on the phone - why ??? You can't provide an estimated shipping date online? You want me to pay for an item without telling me when I can expect it? I have been sitting on boxes for a couple of months now waiting for shelves to become available and now it's another months before you expect them to hit Halifax? If you your logistics system is as unreliable as the weather forecast in the Maritimes there is something wrong..... I've just about had it with Ikea Canada ....
ITS IKEA WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LOVE OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderfully kept store, emaculately displays and very friendly/helpful staff. Make sure if you're going in for the first time that IKEA is designed to keep you within the store as long as possible. If you need to leave, hustle and follow the arrows on the floor! YouTube videos tend to be exponentially more helpful than the guides provided when you buy merchandise.
Absolutely love shopping at IKEA. Clean, simple designs and good prices if you don’t get too many add ons. Wonderful food in the cafeteria - portions are on the small side but you won’t find a better price for the quality of food. Be ready to spend some time when you first visit - it’s a giant store, but the signage helps you find your way around.
In most cases you get great value for money, but there were many products that were unavailable.
Can never say anything negative about Ikea, well maybe the instruction booklets can be a little frustrating, but the stores are always great no matter where you go!
Staff is excellent and very helpful. Ordered online and picked it up, very fast and smooth delivery.
I think IKEA is a pretty good good place. Their food is cheap but you get what you pay for. The furniture isn't too expensive. Though the show room is a bit of a maze, but they do a good job of showing off their goods.
It is definitely not a quick visit. Many people make it difficult to enjoy the 3D show cases. There is a lot to look and choose from with at least three different color options for most items.
Thia store loses a star for it's incredible slowness in coming up with a viable solution during the earlier days of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a warehouse store, it should have been able to quickly and efficiently set up a socially distances click and collect option. While it did come eventually, it took too long. People in remote communities had better access to Ikea products through pick-up locations than those who live right in HRM. Lessons to be learned from this.
Worst ever experience. Terrible assembling of items which was done by the company they referred me too "TaskRabbit" who are claiming that it's a product defect not assembling ... back and forth with hours over phone and the same in store with no solution. Oh yes they gave me one, will replace you the items or return them but you have to get all items unassembled and packaged for us to pick it up as well as paying a charge of $80!! So I paid for delivery and assembling and now they want me to unassemble the items myself, get it wrapped and pay pick up charge for them to return the product ... Interesting!
Bought a large appliance which was a good experience. Got it home to find it had a broken part, likely due to shipping. Took it back nervous they may say it was my fault. Spoke to staff, reviewed the product and no hesitation, I immediately received a new appliance. Its plugged in and working. While it was a pain going back and forth, they treated me well and I respect how they handled the situation.
Great deals here for quality stuff
Layout like a maze, spend surplus of 4k and not so much as a bag offered for loose items, then wait a long time for order and not get so much as an offer of help with carts.....well done!!!
We did the contactless pickup, and we thought it was really cool how smoothly everything was going, until we were sitting there for close to an hour waiting for our order while cars were coming and going around us. It's a really cool system that they have, just could be executed better.
This place is like the Hotel California, you can check out anytime you want but you can never leave.Very difficult to get out of this store lol
Not a bad place. Some of their principles are a bit backwards though. I had severe difficulty ordering an individual part for a piece of furniture that was literally a pile of parts when In bought it. They still stock the item and I can't get a part for it? What the hell?
Didn't have the sofa I wanted but was helped with a very nice young lady who explained how to order online and a few other questions I had. The only thing I don't like about ikea is if I order online they charge you a $5 pickup fee. I guess thats for them to put it in the cart for you and bring it to the pickup area. ????
The best furniture store I've been to. Quality is not the best, but price, service, ease, and selection are.
Fab buys and the restaurant is amazing!
More like a destination than a regular shopping trip. Plenty to see and do if you're with kids, wide selection of furniture and other household items that get rotated seasonally, plus the market that sells food is like stepping into the international section of a grocery store.
classic IKEA shopping experience! very clean, very friendly staff. sucks they were out of a lot of stuff though.
Wow this place is huge. What a great layout. With showcase rooms throught out the beginning of a continuous loop leading into merchandise then check out back where you started. Got some super cool Christmas gifts too.
It's a big box with a shopping maze inside. :) Not a place to save time unless you map out your needs and grab the shortcuts through the walls. Some products are great value. Some, not so much.
Terrible, once you're in there and upstairs you can chase your tail all day and not find your way out. Don't follow the arrows they will only lead you in circles. Have a staff member take you to the stairs or elevator. Not a place for someone to go if you have anxiety or something along those lines. I don't but my wife has asthma amongst other things and almost had an attack as it's very frustrating to be lost in a store of this size.
Lack of directional signage. Offering curbside car loading but no reentry to store once you pull car up. Unfriendly and unhelpful security staff (although not employees of IKEA they do represent the company when working there). Observed two IKEA staff laughing at and making unprofessional comments about a customer.
Gorgeous showrooms display the varieties of household items sold in this massive location, with multiple varieties of ways to decorate and utilize them! Next, stroll through the warehouse/salesfloor and fill your baskets! Amazing sale prices! Plenty of options! Delicious snack bar at the end of the visit!!
Food was great. I'd rate 5 stars but this time I went for an item that showed in stock but was not actually there. An employee went looking for it but didn't have any success. I've been here a few times, this is one store I never end up leaving empty handed.
Love using the website so I know where to go in store
On our first visit here, in being expat 'lkean's' from the UK, it's great to see that IKEA have retained all that is excellent from their European store model. We've been anxiously waiting for this store to open since we moved to NS nine years ago.
Just did the click and collect option online for the first time. YES!!!! What a great experience. Going to Ikea on the weekend is usually stressful because its so busy. It’s busy here today (also very cold)and there’s a very long line outside just to get in the door. Because i knew exactly what i was going to buy before coming into the city, i used click and collect. It only cost $5 (which was added to my order) I parked in the designated click and collect area (which is different then backing up to the door to get your stuff) showed my order number and ID to the attendant and then they brought my order right to my truck. You load it yourself and off ya go!!! I will use this all the time now.
Great place. IKEA is great for so much, cheap enough but still cute and they have so many different styles so it’s super easy to make whatever u need cute !
Good furniture but for limited time
I Love Shopping at Ikea. The store though huge and somewhat confusing is Amazing. Very Friendly staff who were always kind and pleasant whenever I seemed to of lost my way.. Haha! I also Love their new Paper Bags. We always get a hotdog or Cone before or after shopping at their little food court. Store is always clean & well organized. We always enjoy our shopping adventure when we go there, makes for a nice day out. Even the kids Love it.
Beautiful IKEA in Dartmouth. Wheel chair parking is ridiculously located for people who are handicapped.....what ever they thinking? The store itself is well laid out but the lineup for check out when one has mobility issues needs rethinking... Not everyone can stand for long periods of time. I had tremendous difficulty this morning to find staff upstairs in the wardrobe area....the store was virtually empty so it should have been easy...i ended up flagging a cleaning gal had who was kind enough to find someone. One would also think that IKEA I is such a large corporation that they could hire people to handle phones....don't even bother trying to call...I was on hold for 47 min. and then gave up. Great products but customer service is lacking tremendously.
Wow, what a place. Almost need a map to get out but the lit up arrows on the floor are great. Make sure you give yourself lots of time to shop because its huge. Great prices and items that you would never think about are there. Oh, get a cart because you will need one.
Innovative (maybe even a bit too much). Wonderful fairly priced products which is all fine and dandy but once you find the product you want, good luck finding it in the cavernous area where you are supposed to pick up the actual boxes. On the day we visited there was one person working down there and even he couldn't find stuff. This part of the of the experience makes the rest of it not so good. On the other hand I found a great bookshelf, cheap and easy to build.
Love this store! I could happily get lost for hours. There are items offered at lots of different price points, so it can accommodate almost any budget. The cafeterias and kids play area are great addition.
Even if you don't buy anything, this store is pretty fun to walk through. Everything is set up like a filming set and I just want to film a ton of videos in there haha. It's fun.
The handicapped parking is way off to the side (and was full) when we went at 10am today. Handicapped does not necessarily mean in a wheelchair, so it would have been a long distance for my mother to walk regardless. I had to park in the expecting mother section due to walking distance. It would be good of them to put some handicapped parking spots in there as well for people who have difficulty walking long distances. The store is also VERY warm. Uncomfortably warm! Hopefully they will be able to get the temperature sorted out in the future. Everyone around us was having to try and put their hair up, taking off cardigans and trying to fan themselves with picture frames and whatever you could get ahold of. The food in the restaurant was very good and the store overall is nice and clean! We will be back for breakfast again! The staff were all very helpful as well :) It is so nice to finally have an IKEA here!!!
Ikea!!!!! You'll find what you didn't even know you needed or wanted. The only drawback is that you'll need several hours to thoroughally check this place out. Plan to stay for lunch. The salmon and veggie croquettes were delicious!
The cashier was rude, when alerting customer service about it, they were even worse. I know the holidays are stressful but there's no need to be rude to people or either side of the counter.
Pretty good I guess. I’m not a huge Ikea fan, I happen to like quality furniture that you keep for years (or decades) as opposed to stuff you replace regularly, but this store is a nice place aside from that. It’s big and bright and well laid out. I do like the housewares section. I’d go again for that.
Experience related to using delivery would be 1 star. Experience with click and collect was 5 star - they were quick, friendly, and everything was there. The delivery was quick (I ordered on a Saturday and received my delivery on a Monday) but my items were delivered dirty and the order was missing a box required to assemble my furniture. All of the small items I ordered had large delivery tags stuck on them which did not come off easily. We had to scrub everything to remove the adhesive. It would be preferable if the tags were place on a less visible part of the item. Some items came scratched. I think it would be better if IKEA bagged the items and put a shipping label on the bag. This would protect the items and use less of those labels which are hard to remove from the products. Took over a week and several calls to the call centre to resolve the issue of my missing box.
Don't go here it's a trap the wife spends more money than you want to
Other than Big it is a great store. I don't need a lot because I am downsizing and selling my house but there is always something you need. This time I needed rechargeable batteries for outdoor lights and I was told their's waz the best and less expensive than other places. So I bought a lot of them. Then realized I could get discounts off of things uf I joined their club and get an IKEA card so I did for next time.
The furniture has become exceptionally expensive for cheap garbage. The store has very few shortcuts so if you enter it's a guaranteed hour. Food prices are up a lot. No more coke products instead some random Ikea cola. Sorry guys, for a new Ikea this place is garbage.
The efficiency of this place is off the charts. The products are amazing and they offer something for every budget! If you haven’t been, go!
It's more of a hobby shop really than a furniture store.. you pay for the fun of assembling your own stuff.. because you want to!
My favorite for fashionable fixtures and finishing. Not everything is quality or a good deal. Have to watch what is worth the money. Sometimes it's too good of a price. Pick and choose what's sturdy and what's affordable.
Had an Ikea Kitchen installed by their Install Company TFK / Quick Contractors. Both those companies were terrible to deal with and I ended up firing them, but Ikea has also failed to escalate my issues to get them resolved. Emails to the Customer Service Manager have gone unanswered. Request to speak with someone else have resulted in no response. I have had a half installed kitcken for 3 months with no support from Ikea.
Great selection of tiles and other flooring. The staff were helpful. Convid 19 restrictions are taken very seriously.
I go to Ikea store in every city i traveled to ( toronto, melbourne, singapore, kualalumpur, taipei...) this halifax store is a typical one, quite small if compare to others. But its food court is the best one. Nice design, lot of food choice, spacious. too bad they have many things on display but out of stock.
The store that has everything for you. Look at by image postings.....they show you how to build a house - they show you 2 small living spaces and giving you great layouts! Then show you what will fit in the spaces! It's got everything! And all the other pieces you never though about. Great children ideas!
Anything you do, do not buy online. I have no complaints about the store but I had to buy a mattress online because there was no way I could transport it and the customer service is giving me hell and confusing directions on when my order will be delivered.
I don't like that you have to basically go through the whole store before getting out. It's a trap! ???? Then having to get your own merchandise in the warehouse. Who really wants to do that? I'll probably never go back.
Friendly helpful staff Great place for European furniture and decor Different grades of furniture to appeal to different price points Cafeteria with good prices and good food but limited menu. When I have had problems with my purchases IKEA have been very understanding, professional and courteous while helping me.
Always a great shopping adventure! If you can't find it here you don't need it! Such a huge selection of quality merchandise, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and excellent food both in the cafeteria and grocery area. A+++
No Comment needed they have everything. Try the food court as well you will not regret it.
The furniture is great and there is a lot of it. Because of the amount of furniture it's very overwhelming when trying to find a specific thing. the food is good but it's difficult to get it quickly as there is always a line. It's a very unique store and entertaining to make a day out of, but it's very overwhelming when actually trying to purchase something.
store is great, food is great, staff are wonderful.....the warrenty department sucks...i've been trying to get a mattress that is less than a year old looked at or replaced due to material failure for 2 months now. spent up to 30 hours on the phone waiting. still with no answers. I will never purchase here again..
I highly recommend not wasting your money here. I paid $600 for a bed frame with delivery. The item arrived extremely damaged and the customer service rep that I was connected with was only trained to deflect my attempts at making a return. I was then told that to return the bed frame, I would have to drive it back to Dartmouth myself, which is ridiculous after already paying $70 for delivery. IKEA offered a $20 gift card which is downright insulting. I now have to go pick up the replacement items from a Canada Post pick-up location in 5-7 business days. They did not offer me a refund or discount on delivery. If you are a young person trying to furnish your new home, do yourself a huge favour and shop somewhere else. You’ll get less than you pay for at IKEA.
When we lived in Ontario, our closest IKEA was over an hour away which made it a pain to shop there. We love having one 20mins from home! Although, this is more dangerous, ha! The thing I love most about IKEA is how versatile and unique their furniture is - it really can be altered or customized to fit just about every decor style, home size, floor layout, and budget. Every room in our home has at least one piece of furniture from IKEA in it. While most things are fairly inexpensive, the more costly items are worth the added cost. The store itself is always going to be crowded, so take your patience with you. Staff are very friendly and helpful, thankfully. Last tip - try the cafeteria! I was shocked at how good some of the food was, especially the breakfasts, lobster gnocchi (yes, seriously) and the apple cake.
Had an amazing time! Well laid out and easy to follow. Thank you for a wonderful shopping experience!
The store is awesome and so much more than I imagined for Halifax. What keeps this from five stars is that there were a couple of instances where we didn't quite receive the customer service that I expected as a Nova Scotian. I hope those get resolved for next time we are in. Otherwise the store is great.
I am so disappointed with Ikea and their customer service. I love the furniture but there is a huge discrepancy with their departments in terms of inventory. I have wasted a lot of time and travel being told through the website (even after paying for an item) and customer service (after paying for something in store) to be told they didn't actually have it in stock. This has happened three separate times. In other words, just because the website says you bought something or someone in customer service tells you they have something, it cannot always be believed...leading to much frustration.
Larger than expected. No seats to rest!!
Beautiful new store. They seem to be having a hard time keeping stock on the shelves at times, but I'm going back, so I'll get the item eventually. The customer service desk could use some help - we waited a very long time just to ask a question, and the guy was not very friendly. The food is incredible, the store is clean and most of the employees are friendly though. Would recommend a visit!!
Had to come back for a second time after about a week as none of the things I wanted were in stock. This time there was plenty. Crowds were very heavy, wouldn't recommend going on Saturday afternoons.
The atmosphere was amazing. There is miles of options to see and marvel over for every room in your home. I found decor ideas I would have never ever thought of on my own. Great, great, great store.
We are very lucky to have an ikea Halifax store.i never thought we would have one in Atlantic Canada due to our low population but Ikea has found a business case for the Halifax Location. This store is as good as or better than its sister stores across the continent. Food at restaurant is great and staff are friendly. I personally avoid this place on weekends as it gets very crowded and busy. Go on a weekday afternoon and enjoy!
Love it. Spent hours in this place, they have everything you could want and it's all laid out very well. They have a great food court in the top floor and amazing prices for it, with some unique drinks and free refills.
Not the greatest customer service. They need extra people to accommodate the need and it's a different way of shopping, that's for sure. Plus, God help you if you hurt yourself or break a part of your body on their premises. I did and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. They do have some occasional great deals though.
You will get lost, but a good lost. A lost where you find good treasure, that you're wallet wont always hate you for, I mean... it might but.... it's worth it. Make sure you know how to read maps. Lol its laid out decent too.
It's an IKEA so if you've been in one you know what to expect. For anyone that has never gone, the prices are fair and the quality of goods is the best you can expect for mass produced items you build on your own. It's a fun place to shop (even for my kids) and there is a restaurant onsite that has great food that is really affordable.
Clean, well put together store with great furniture and accessories. Food in the cafeteria was good, low priced but service was a bit slow with a long line. Likely this will get better soon the store is new.
Huge massive store. Great ideas, great furniture. I takes forever to go through this store. As a tourist we got lost a lot. Would remember a product then go back to get it and get lost all over again. Good fun. Pix is a lot of grass plants on the wall
can be a bit confusing at times and I still get loss.. lol.. but.. over all.. great merchandise and friendly and helpful staff.
I love their showroom. Beautiful and really inspires you to dream of your own rooms. They have everything you could buy for your house.
Pretty useless staff and processes. Wanted to order kitchen cabinets online, however at the checkout they tell you when you must come and pick up the items, regardless how inconvenient it may be. I live over 2 hours drive from the store, need to rent a uhaul to load the items on, get time off from work etc. When I called they basically said go shop elsewhere, we are not interested in resolving your problem., if you dont make the pickup, goods are returned to the warehouse and your credit card refunded the next day. If you still want the items, start at the beginning again.
Wish they had stock of many of their items, but they are often out. However, overall it's a pretty good standard Ikea experience which lots of basics homewares and furniture.
This Ikea location is incredible. Absolutely nothing to complain about. They have navigated the Covid-19 restrictions in Nova Scotia wonderfully, I have never felt unsafe while shopping In their store. The staff are always friendly, approachable and helpful. The selection of household goods is vast and the staged rooms and homes are super fun to walk through. An absolute blast for killing an afternoon, and a wonderful place to purchase your furniture.
Lots of good stuff but a few out of stock. Huge parking facility. Brought a few things for the home at an affordable price.
Fresh air finally is here: what a great experience; Would recommend this place to everyone, even as a "window shopping". I personally felt like being at art exhibition: glass of champagne in my hand was missing.
I went to the Halifax store back in March looking for a shelfing unit. There was one on display, but it was out of stock. So I went home to see if I could order online or at least get notified when it was back in stock at the store. The product did not exist on the website. I went back to the store for the second time and asked two employees about the shelf. They looked up the item number. The employees couldn't find the product on the app or website either, but said it would be back in stock later that week. I asked if it was discontinued, and if so, if I could buy the display unit. They assured me is was not discontinued and to come back later in the week. I returned to the store for a third time later that week to find it still out of stock. I talked to ANOTHER employee and they told me they had "no idea why the first employees said it was coming in" and that there was a shipment coming in next month instead. So I left empty handed AGAIN. I recently searched this product number again and the website is only NOW telling me that the product is expired and discontinued. So I absolutely could have purchased the display unit in the store, but instead went back and forth to the store three different times and was misinformed by three different employees. Now, I don't even have the option of purchasing this item after waiting for months. In addition, I was trying to purchase an artificial plant through curbside pick up. The plant was in stock, but low quantity at my store. I was unable to purchase this item for curbside pick up or delivery as it was "low stock". There was no one shopping in store, so it didn't make sense to me that they had some there, but wouldn't allow me to purchase one simply because there were only a few left. I chatted with the online support team and they explained that they need sufficient stock to complete online orders in case someone buys in store, and that they couldn't change that even though the store is closed for shopping. I was not able to be notified of the plant coming back in stock as it was not even out of stock yet. So I have checked the website every day to see if it is back in sufficient stock to place an order. It had been saying that there were two in stock for weeks and now, and today, it is saying there are none. So.... please explain to me how that works. Clearly someone else was able to purchase this item, but I wasn't, because they are gone. I just don't understand why it is so hard to give them my business and why I am constantly being misinformed to the point of missing out on the items that I want to buy, when they are sitting in a store 5 minutes from me. It's really bad business and I'm very frustrated with my shopping experiences.
What can I say, an Ikea in Halifax/Dartmouth, finally! I can't imagine the difficulty of opening such a massive store, with so little regional precedent and support, to such massive public anticipation, and it all going right. Somehow, they seem to have pulled it off! Granted, I left a wide berth in the store's very early days, but have visited a few times in the last month for purchases both small and (relatively) big, and have been impressed with staff attitude and knowledge, product availability, and the overall experience. Now we just need a better map for navigating the labyrinth ;)
First time here. Meh. Bass pro shop is next door. It's smalle than Moncton, but must be better than this.
Large store I like the way the place is layed out and we had lunch
Store is nice, they obviously pay attention to detail. Prices seem great as well. I’m not a fan of the whole shopping experience (I’m more of an in/out kinda shopper). Great store, just set some time aside if you actually want to take it all in.
Most of the items placed in the showroom are out of stock. They won't even place labels in these items showing out of stock. I felt like they want us to buy items that are old stock. If you want to buy, don't forget to check the stock with the Ikea app. Also they won't mention us when buying food that the dine in is not allowed, we only get to know after buying and about to be seated. We will have to go out to eat. Also, it is hard to see any representative to enquire about the stock, it is really hard to find them in most of the places. I don't think it is worth a visit to this place which is far from the city to reach there and know that the items are out of stock.
Very nice experience I must say! Very friendly staff and for opening day the store was surprisingly well organized. There seem to be some very reasonably priced items and the selection is phenomenal! Welcome to Halifax/Dartmouth IKEA, glad you're here!
Probably my favourite place on the entire planet. Make sure you have lots of time, are wearing comfortable shoes, and bring your appetite. The food there is amazing. The staff is also VERY friendly.
I had been to most IKEA in Canada and China. I have to say! The Halifax one is by far the cleanest, smellest and brightest! So many windows in the showroom and eating area make the place so area and doesn't feel trapped. Most ikea i feel the new furniture smells are so strong which gives me headache but not here in the show room. It is so big, we stayed 2 hours walked about 6km inside. Would totally go back for a day trip!.Ikea is my theme park! full of insprations.
The staff at the planning desks (kitchen and closet organizing) are exceptional knowledgeable about their products and make excellent recommendations.
One of my favorite stores! Fun to browse and fun to shop. If you can't find it at IKEA, they probably don't make it ????
Fun experience but it takes time to see it all.like an hour or two.Nice design, decent pricing and the odd really good deal.
Complex layout and busy store. It was very challenging to navigate even with the markings on the floor. The ambience and setup made it an anxiety inducing trip. Definitely will not be returning. If we want anything from Ikea, we will be ordering online.
This is an amazing place to go shopping. The only problem is that it's simply so large. My wife and I went there with our two kids and it was a very long walk all the way around the entire building. It was our first time there and we didn't really know what to expect. Needless to say it's probably not a place you want to take your children or anybody that's old. It takes a very long time to go shopping unless you know exactly what you're looking for
I tried the meatballs and it was amazing.
Bad experience with Ikea delivery. Recommend avoiding this service unless you want to be scammed into an extra delivery fee due to strict rules placed on sub-contracted drivers to talk to you by phone although they are in your driveway and you are home. Don't miss the call or they will ask for $50. Totally a scam in my opinion.
Great store, can be very busy, food is excellent!! The store is absolutely massive, our first trip there took us nearly 2 hours to browse through the whole thing. One tip I can give, the restaurant opens 30 minutes before the store. If you're able to go early, stop in for breakfast before the store opens and beat the crowds.
It’s a great place for shopping to decorate your house, apartment or office. You will get all necessary items in this store. They’ve good quality of products and very detailed manual with the product which helps to easily assemble them. The store is well organized and easy to navigate through out the store. It’s easily accessible for wheelchair. They have food zone in the store having different menus for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes it’s difficult to get the staffs on the floor to a particular section to get any help. You have to browse around to find someone. They don’t offer significant discounts on the particular occasions such as Boxing Day, Christmas. Overall, I would recommend this store.
Too big Didn't like the shopping experience -- walking through a long line of many room displays to get to the few that I am actually interested in seeing. Store is huge with concrete floors that are uncomfotable. It would be far more comfortable withceasier quicker access to displays of interest I did like the fast, easy cafeteriathat features their meals, available to purchase downstais as frozen foods. I won't shop there in person.
Due to covid online service is really terrible I tell guy to cancel my order he say perfect and leave chat but when I visit store service is really fast and quick I get my bed same day and online delivery its showing one month its better to go at store pick your stuff and go
All stuff to make a beautiful home..????
The place is built like a frustrating maze to expose the customer to as much product as possible. Very frustrating. You feel like a rat in an experiment /maze.
Unique shopping experience. Not like other stores. Rather confusing layout for a first time shopper like me. Very clean. Merchandise neatly displayed. Some prices good. Others not so much. Lots of room to shop. Carts were very smooth and can turn on a dime.
So nice to finally have IKEA in Nova Scotia (again?)! Exceptionally clean sales floor, well-placed layouts, everything you want in an IKEA. One of my favorite places to shop, dream, plan, and be inspired!
The store was closed at 12:30 because Hurricane Dorian was on its way!!! But fortunately, the closure gave me time to realise that I did not need a queen sized bed and mattress, but rather a double! (No room in the bedroom)! So I had to order both on line. The delivery was done as planned and on time! Thank you.
Plan your time well but enjoy the selection and ideas.
Oh I could stay here forever. Wonderfully priced, and high quality furniture. I plan to decorate my entire house with IKEA one day.
Very well stocked, friendly and helpful staff. I always look forward to shopping there.
Couldn't find what I was looking for. Yes. Even in Ikea. I wanted a kitchen table and chairs and they weren't quite exactly what I had in mind. Always ended up buying something else. Oh and poster board/frames are a funny size and don't fit any of the posters I had.
Everything is well organized except that sometimes it says a product is available but you go to where it should be and it's not available
One of the best marketing ideas I have ever seen is having a business watch your kids to allow you to spend more money. They have a very well secured play park on site that allows the parents to shop hassle free while the kiddos have a fun time. Another great feature is that you can get a tasty meal while you are there. Always great prices on their everyday items that you didn’t even know you needed.
Prices were low, but service was only mediocre. Waited 30min + for a chair, then they told me they didn't have the cover I decided to just get the chair and save the cover for later, but the staff said they were on break and refused to serve me. Finally, I got it, then a staff member told me that it was the wrong one. As I was cancelling my order, the lady at the desk told me it was the right one. Confusing.
Easy for accessing, friendly served, trade smoothly.
Very comfort family shopping as usual. There were a lot good deals. We started our shopping from IKEA Restaurant ???? IKEA designers suggested various inspired made-up minds of rooms designs! Also I like IKEA food ????
I don't like that there are no washrooms inside the shopping areas.
The shelves in the store were half empty in some areas. We didn't find a lot of the products we intended to buy. And no consultant was around to ask anything. Maybe I'm a little spoiled by Dubai's Ikea, since we could find there everything we were looking for at any time????.
Yeah, Ikea it's Ikea, no matter where you are. Europe, North America.... 4* because the lack of stock is unbelievable and constant (maybe because of the Pandemic?). Also cause this Ikea only brings in stock you might need from Atlantic Provinces ...
One of the best places to shop for home furniture and appliances in Canada. They have the best return policy in Canada. 365 days!!!!!
Love it! However, more options should be added, its been the same style for over 2years now
Very confusing store. Took me 4 hours to use the system to design a kitchen...some help but very little with the exception of one lovely gentleman. Also tried to arrange at checkout to buy an item to add to my kitchen delivery...cashier told me incorrect info and other help desk made no effort ri make this happen...spent $3100 that day. Not sure I will be back
Always out of stock. We wanted to furnish our house there, end up having no choice but to give up on them and go somewhere else.
Frigid returns area due to broken doors. $20 charge for in store pickup if you buy online? Great products and prices and excellent cafeteria. Unable to lookup purchases using loyalty card number or CC number as other biz can. Make sure you keep your receipts!
I’m very happy we finally have an IKEA store in Halifax. Unfortunately, it’s still disorganized and hectic. I was also disappointed by the IKEA FOOD restaurant and limited choice of food selections. In addition, I noted there there was a potential to have two serving areas, but IKEA decided to use only one. Despite the fact, that the line was horrendous and it’s going to be even worse during weekends and holiday seasons. Very disappointing! I would also like to see that the designated parking areas such as electric/hybrid vehicles parking were respected, which wasn’t the case last time I wanted to park there. I hope that IKEA reads my feedback and that they will work on making this store enjoyable as I was used to at other IKEA locations in Canada and Europe.
Awesome, unique household items at relatively low prices. Lots of interesting displays and gadgets to look at as you follow the projected arrows. I always feel a bit like a well entertained rat in a maze. The prize at the end is $1 hotdogs (rather than cheese). The real fun comes later as you try to assemble any larger items. Try not to be too concerned about the "extra" parts you find once the set up is complete; I'm sure they weren't too important!
IKEA here, like everywhere, is unique in so many good ways. You have cheaper affordable stuff as well as pricier better furnishings etcetera, whatever you need. A lot of things are just a little different than normal, in a good way. Parking is easy, pick-up is easy. Staff is helpful and friendly. It's a typical IKEA, so it's worth visiting when you're shopping for furnishings, kitchen stuff, household things of all sorts. Even some food and treats. Get a cheap takeout meal on the way out the door.
This may be a great place for someone who enjoys shopping just for the sake of shopping. But for someone like me that likes to find something, purchase it and get out, the design of this store is far from efficient. It's design is basically a trap forcing you to navigate around all the difference products just to find the exit. On my first and last visit I felt like a rat trapped in a maze.
Moving into a new residence is burdensome; furnishing a new home is even more problematic —IKEA alleviates this burden by providing affordable home furniture and display ideas for decor. There is a restaurant and cafe in-house, just in case you get famished after all the window shopping. I added some Swedish-style cookies to my cart —very tasty!
Great store to visit. An absolute pain to try and reach customer service by phone. You have to go through menus on the phone and then wait for no one to answer. I've called on 4 separate occasions and the same story everytime so I've hung up after 20-30 mins of being on hold. Would be a five star if IKEA Dartmouth's phone answering was remotely OK.
Great place but some of the customers are pretty rude. Seems like some people are having sex here.
Great selection from a huge store. The only drawback is that you (sort of) have to walk the entire store to get to check out. This is just the Ikea design, so not just this store. And getting to check out can be a bit confusing. We heard a couple of door alarms go off while we were there when people tried to leave via the emergency exit. Anyway, nice store, good selection, plan on spending a few minutes trying to find the way out if it's your first time.
Great prices, great products, and the supervised children's play area is a stroke of genius.
Curbside pick up was quick and efficient.
I typically like IKEA but my dresser (MALM) had issues with some of the pieces. They have also been out of stock of many key items such as their basic legs for their tables forever. So if your looking for a table WITH legs I suggest you try somewhere else.
This is a fantastic store for even just browsing. There is so much to see. One can gain many ideas for arangements of small to large rooms. Ideas for decorating and placement, and of course, a place to find great deals on furniture and accessories. Friendly staff await. For the handicap, there is several motorized scooters. Love this place!
Worst customer service I have experienced. I understand that The Covid situation has made things difficult but all other business have managed to share information at minimum. Ordered online took more than a month and was all wrong and couldn’t return, not a big deal. Managed to get a curb side time and re-ordered items. Said would get confirmation day of and never did. Tried all day to call and couldn’t get through. Went to the store a couple days later and was told to bad all returned we don’t have room to store.. she refused to even look up the order to confirm. Still haven’t been credited back to the credit card. Took a drive down the road and found a better alternative at Structube. I’ve spend allot of money at IKEA but I’ll be looking elsewhere in the future.
A big shout out and thank you to the lovely lady who helped us at the right time to get our mattress...she refused to agree to us that the mattress is out of stock even though we said app shows out of stock...she left her work and went to her computer and gave us details of where to find it...the best employee of ikea...very confident and smart...it was a great customer experience
IKEA has some great stuff and I’d give more stars but a recent Return was ridiculously SLOW - pick a number and wait in a long line kind of thing. Extremely disappointing, especially when the rest of the store is in contrast well staffed and efficient...seems intentional.
It’s IKEA! I go if I desperately need something but it’s not THE place to go for furniture unless you want your place to look like student’s pad.
Love this store and it's set up. It took a while to understand at first but once you do, prices are good and so many different products! Very clean!
The most amazing IKEA building I've been in so far, very energy efficient, bright, and has a great view from the restaurant. Staff have been friendly, and the store is clean and well laid out. Unfortunately I've gone a couple times and found items were out of stock even though they showed in stock on the app. Very frustrating when you don't have a car as it's pretty inaccessible from downtown Halifax. I'm hoping to see a bus route put into place soon.
It's a great store! Lots of great prices!!! But man oh man waiting for something to be picked up is so overly long. I have done it twice now... and it takes forever. Almost worth playing the 80$ to have it shipped ... going on an hour and a half now waiting for a wicker coffee table ????
I have not been to an Ikea before they opened here. I LOVE it. I find their products cheap and of good quality compared to other places. Going to make this my first stop before checking anywhere else for houseware now.
Awesome. Lots of parking. Great loading area. Something for everyone here ... just be prepared for a lot of walking. And use the carts! You are going to find more things you didn't know you needed than you expect. Cafeteria has great tasting food at extremely reasonable prices.
Got these tonight ???? after returning another set. Super easy amd painless process
They were extremely helpful. I asked a random worker where something was and she knew exactly where it was at the other end of the store.
Son moving to the area for school. Ordered furniture to be delivered. First scheduled delivery, they didn't show up. No notice that they wouldn't be coming. Phoned customer service and couldn't give us answers, said to call back the next day. Delivery rescheduled. Received phone message from delivery company with delivery window on the newly scheduled day. They later called to confirm everything was on the truck and would be there. An hour and a half into the delivery window they texted saying it would not be delivered. A call to IKEA customer service says it will now be a third date, my son will receive a call to confirm. Still no furniture. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY, they do not seem capable of coordinating. UPDATE: THIRD delivery time not met, new delivery day. UPDATE 2: Fourth scheduled time and finally arrived. It took four scheduled delivery times.
This store is soo big lots to see. Clean store and friendly service.
IKEA always and anywhere is a great place and our favorite place for furniture shopping. Unfortunately our experience to purchase a customized kitchen cabinet was bad as process and as communication with staff. It is important to understand that NOT everyone familiar with computer design tools.
Picked over to death. Sales people are exhausted. Covid rules are being followed which was nice. There's more "demos" on shelves then product which was disappointing.
Love their affordable and beautiful made in Egypt carpets
I had a great time shopping... not to often I say that. Everything was laid out as if it was in your home already. So you can imagine how each each item works with the other. Go to the other side of the store and find your item... It's like going into a huge warehouse. Bring your walking shoes. Food was also available to eat as well to buy. Great experience overall!
Never have anything in stock that I want then takes months to come back in stock and is out of stock again within a few days. Who does the ordering here ? They need to hire someone else. Beyond frustrated.
Great food in the food court on the top floor. Tastes great and is cheap for the quality and quantity. The store is very large and has everything you could possibly need for your household needs. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their products.
I waited 15 minutes for an employee to come to office furniture (after wandering from department to department just to find an employee to call someone to office furniture) just for them to print the paper for warehouse aisle and bin number. Then the 2 boxes for my desk were so heavy i could barely slide them off the shelf onto the cart. When i got to cash i was told the part they needed to scan was on the bottom so i needed to turn the box over. No one to help me turn the heavy box over, cashier stood and watched me struggle. Then i handed her my cash and she just stared at me holding it like she'd never seen money before. After a very weird 15 seconds (that's long, try it!) she asked me how much was there. "Aren't you going to count it?" I asked - and then she did. On my way out she told me there would be guys out by the loading area to help me load. I took my boxes out, brought my van over, folded the seats, and saw no one. Managed to load the boxes myself. Time in loading area about 20 minutes. Just as i was driving away i finally saw a guy wearing a vest who might have helped if he had been around. I love my new desk, but I'm very disappointed in the service!
The Filipino mid-aged man Cleaner on the evening of 03/31 is unprofessionally rude -kids should not be around him! I gave it 1 star all because of his no-work-ethics-kind -of-man! I love the food section! The man who greets at the entrance is very nice and friendly....keep it up! My friend showed me about the chair she bought and I loved it! Decent pricing as well!
You get what you pay for at IKEA these days. Furniture is flimsy and lighting products break in just over a year. Also in my experience they are reluctant to stand by anything they sell. Spend the few dollars extra and go elsewhere.
Daphne at Ikea was exceptional. So very helpful in all things wardrobe dept. Plus advice suggestions and support. Made our trip from Moncton to Halifax a great excursion. Thank you Daphne for all your expertise..
Really interesting and HUGE store. They have an incredible variety of products. Plan on at least two hours to get through it without skipping whole sections - more if you want to really looks at everything. Everyone should experience it at least once. I highly recommend it as a stop if you are visiting the Halifax area. It is located in Dartmouth Crossing, which is full of stores and restaurants. It is very easy to get to from the highway.
IKEA makes finding furniture easy. I love their show room set ups. Staff are also helpful.
Wow! So many neat things. The layout is somewhat confusing, even with the map. Prices are great. I will definitely shop there again.
We love Ikea and have used many of their products to complete a major renovation project at our home including kitchen and pantry cabinets, closet organization and an entertainment unit.
BIG..Need good walking shoes.
i really like your store...but very disappointed in way your taking orders...n have to wait 6 weeks for delivery(no pick-up) .......unacceptable !......i can see a week....but 6 weeks?.......how about trying......customers paying for online orders n given a date to pick up at the store......u meet someone at pick up door....n show your receipt n ref. number ....someone brings you your item(s).
Service was good except I had ordered some kitchen cabinets and after paying for the items I had to wait 45 minutes at the pickup desk for the items to be delivered to me. This is EXTREMELY slow and this really needs,to be improved. I was not the only one who had to wait that long. I sure hope this is not the trend.
Everything you need and more! Take your time and enjoy. For sure try their restaurant!
Great place to shop. Usually not very busy, food is good too. Hardest part is the building of the products once you get home!
Beautiful store. Daycare is awesome and you can’t beat a 2$ meal. It’s a 1 stop shop for home items and trumps all competition in the area. Layout is easy and the idea of looking at entire rooms in novel for this end of the country on a large scale.
Ikea is my kind of place. Simple and functional designs, and can haul a room full of stuff in the trunk of your car. My only complaint is the labrynth of a store if you're running in for "one thing". Go in for a towel rack, and BOOM its David Bowie in drag.
The design of IKEA is bad, so it is easy to get lost in store. Meanwhile It is hard to get someone to find something. 5 workers were just gathering and talking, when they saw my friend and I came to them asking for information, they went far. Lots of people were waiting to pay, but they only had 2 cashiers at work. Probably, their price is cheaper than other stores, but be awake, it does not include delivery fee & installation fee. One deliveryman was rude, because he broke a floor board and even did not apologize. He just said: ''you can buy wood glue to fix it; if you have any problem, call IKEA, they are good to deal with it''. Apparently, It is unnecessary to argue with them, and shopping in other stores would be a smart choice. Based on their words/ behaviour and my shopping experience, IEKA deserves the lowest rate. Please do not say: only you had bad experience on every process.
Enjoyed IKEA's new facility. Giving us new ideas for inside the house decor. Still overwhelmed with crowd to fully enjoy meaning more visits.
Drove 4 and a half hours to purchase a bed for my son, and left with out. Their website and app both said they were available, and they were sold out. Rude associates that seemed like they would rather stand around and chat then help people. Gave 3 stars because pricing is very affordable, even with horrible service.
It's Ikea. I always love Ikea. I like the company, the displays, and the prices.
I like IKEA first of all you can always find something you weren't looking for at a really great price! I like going in here with a lot of time on my hands... because this store will easily spend 2 or 3 hours just randomly looking at things... it's a big store and it's very inviting... and it's a giant maze... so once you're in... you're in!!! Lol you'll need to always follow the giant arrows to get back out again! Lol it's a surprising good deal for most items and you'll always find something cool in this store!
Great prices, decent food, very good service
A nightmare to navigate. Found out they were out of stock on the item I wanted at the picking area, instead of the showcase floor. Poor to no customer service. Couldn't find another product they supposedly had. Mattress trial period not as long as competitors.
Loved it. So many choices
Very poor service, charged $5.00 to pick up my order, chose the time that was convenient for me and of course order was not ready. When you call the # they are of no help at all.
Horrible experience, my bed purchase ended costing me extra money. They take no responsibility for selling me an incorrect part that was selected out of there bin. In the confusion the receipt was lost and i had to buy the correct part. These retailers track your every purchase but cant help when the receipt is lost. When the clerk ran the purchase through there are no flags that i had a wrong package. I live 40 minutes from ikea and that is 2 trips and counting. I could have got a similar bed from Amazon delivered to my door for the same price. Decided I would buy local. Never again. Ikea has seen the last of my business.
I love Ikea. Love their space saving ideas. It was extremely busy in there today. Most people are not social distancing.
Out of stock items are a huge issue at this location. I've lived in 2 other cities with ikeas and fully furnished two apartments from them. The occasional out of stock is normal, and usually quickly replenished. Unfortunately 80% of items I want to buy at this location have been out of stock for weeks now. Even cheap basic bulk items like desk legs that should be easy to keep on hand. I'll have to furnish my new apartment elsewhere. Edit: service in returns and order pickup are also shockingly slow, even with no line and staff standing around chatting with each other without a care in the world. Edit 2: loading zone is an u enforced parking lot for lazy inconsiderates. Despite the 15 minute max sign, all of the spots were taken up for over a half hour with parked cars while people loaded out in the road. No enforcement.
One of our items was broken in the package. It was a long mirror in a frame. The folk at Ikea did not hesitate to exchange the broken piece and there was very little wait time even though the piece was not from the self serve area.
good quality stuff at a reasonable price, BUT there is a catch: way too many boxes (tons of cardboard waste). I recently ordered a vanity cabinet, but nowhere did they tell me that I needed a plumbing kit to install the unit. now its crunch time, trying to install and no plumbing kit. cant get one at a plumbing shop either. the web site should have prompted me to pair the kit with the vanity (you will need this to install . . .). you think they would have figured this out by now. beware!
Marvelous store!!! We've visited the store in Montreal but 1st time in this new store. Bright and beautiful, great room showcases and of course easy to keep the crowd moving with the arrows ????!! Had cake and coffee as well - very good - everyone enjoyed what they had, so overall great visit!!
We are so happy that David helped us several times with ordering our tv stand, and he did it with a SMILE and PATIENCE ???? Also the lineup at the cash was all the way back of the store and we got through within 10 minutes. ????
There are lots of great things about IKEA, and lots of ways that they are family friendly. But, it's a tricky place to go with three kids with a relatively large list as their best shopping carts to pick up furniture don't hold kids.
We ordered a bed that arrived without the indicated slats in April. Still trying to reach IKEA to receive the missing parts. Phones are not being answered and no response to emails. :-(
Very modern and nice setup, amazing displays and affordable prices!
Avoid the kiosk for a quick snack before leaving. Unacceptably long wait of 25 minutes for a single black coffee. For reference, I furnished my baby's bedroom in 20 minutes.
Purchased a lovely dresser for my new apartment. My son put it together and I just love it. Very well made
Nice place, nice workers. The only thing is it is too far away from my home. I hope there is another Ikea in Bedford. But I know it is lucky even there is IKea in this city
Great spot for decent prices quality is hit or miss. Checkout can be slow and customer service is hard to find
I went on a weekday early morning and stopped 1st for breakfast. It was nice and the staff was friendly - some are still in training which is fine.... that is how you learn..... by experience. The store is everything I expected. Lots of great deals and loads of ideas. I will be back but not with the crowds.
It's Ikea, not much else to say
I swear to god if I hear Sven or whatever his name is on that radio promoting this place in that fake accent again I'm going to lose it. Ikea is great otherwise though. Still trying to get me some of those Swedish meatballs everyone keeps talking about but it's always a mosh pit upstairs at that food court. Maybe someday...
This place is excellent but depending on when you you go it can be quite hectic. They have a great selection of affordable furniture and the restaurant is pretty great also. If you havnt been i would recommend checking it out!
Still one of the best places to get everything you need for your house no matter the size. Great customer service and easy to navigate.
Don’t ever buy assembly from ikea. You sit home for 8 hours only to be told that the third party did not receive the work order becsuse it was placed to soon prior to service!! Then you call costumer service and wait 45 minutes to be told only compensation is a 50.00 gift card. I think my time is worth more than that the cost of sssembly for my furniture is 150.00
Products are interesting, unique, and pretty decent quality. Prices are excellent. Customer service is quite lacking. Employees are hard to find and aren't usually able to help find products. The stores stock system is inconsistent, indicating a product is in stock when it is not.
Had a great time taking my grandson for the first time to buy some cubes for his bedroom. Of course we enjoyed lunch and an ice cream sundae before leaving. Lots of ideas nicely displayed in room layouts. Reasonable prices.
The store is maze . Arrows on the floor to get out is not my cup of tea . There products I love. Order online only cause the store stresses me out enough I wont go back in .
Lots of choices and decent prices, however can be a very frustrating experience as so many items are out of stock so I usually end up going elsewhere.
If you're getting staff to pick your products I would suggest that you double check the color and style. And if get it delivered you might end up screwed! I paid delivery and set up of a new full wall tv stand. They turned my dinning room and living room apart only to find out that the wrong product was sent. I went back ikea to tell them about the situation. In turn they set me up with one of their head guys to make sure that they got the right parts (took over five hours and they still screwed up I had to personally go back to find the proper items) I told them that I would take home the items that day because I had my truck and wanted my place to be livable again. I was told when I first showed up that they would make sure that the installers would come back that same day to finish off the items. But when it when I got back to the general manager I was told that the installers won't be able to get to my place for another week! Not only that but I had to shell out another $1600.00 for the items but that they would give me two months to return the other items that was incorrectly shipped out (really? They send the wrong product and instead of picking up the items I have to repack everything and bring it back myself?) terrible service! When the installers finally showed up I was told that they've been free to do the installation for four day and had no idea why ikea booked me a week later instead of sooner as they had lots free time to do the install. All I can say is I'm very disappointed with the service and the lies that told to me. Not only that but not being able to use my living room and dining room for the week.(they had to place my TV on the dining room table while they were doing the installation) Oh yeah because of the mix up they gave me a $100.00 credit. Sorry but a hundred dollars is a joke for the fact that I couldn't use my house properly for the week and the inconvenience. (2 day off for the installers and over 8 hours sitting in ikea)
Ordered last Nov 16, 2020 waited for the delivery last Nov 25 no delivery happened waited again and tracked my order Nov 30 2020 says its delivered already but we didn't received anything. What a Scammer, Shame on you!
Lost a point.. really not their fault. issues with "supply", like everyone else right now, I hope for improvement soon.
Not terribly helpful with large click and collect order. If you want to shop this way make sure you take your own muscle with you to the store to pick up and check merchandise before leaving the store to avoid getting damaged product home. Restaurant staff were lovely but tables were dirty
I was directed to self scan for my items as I had 4 chairs. I did have to ask for the station to be sanitized after the other customers left but the worker graciously did so. Also she was able to help me with which bar code to scan.
Food was delicious. Loved the food market. Got lost but found my way eventually. It would be nice to have strip lighting to exit. The selection was amazing. I will be back with a cooler.
Week past delivery date and still not here. Offer no solutions but wait. Useless customer service
Love...love Ikea! I always find exactly what I want and if I have any trouble making up my mind or finding something the friendly staff is always more than willing to help. Completely outfitted my bedroom today!!
It's IKEA which should tell you what you need to know. It's likely to have everything that any other Ikea has because of the nature of big box stores. I've enjoyed the products we've gotten there and for the most part you get what you pay for. Plant section is likely the most underrated part. Good selection of succulents and bromeliads. Occasionally there are reasonably priced bonsai material line ficus as well.
Well laid out store with plenty of choice and variety. All covid protocols observed.
Great store! They always have what I need in stock and staff is helpful. They also have baby care stations on both levels which is amazing for young families and nursing mothers.
Large parking lot that was full with a line up to get in even after being open a month. Place was crowded with line up at the checkout so people were in a buying mood. The variety is astounding will be returning
This has to be the biggest Ikea I have being into. There is nothing expensive in this place. Driving up the hill, it's like a beacon for the area. I made it to opening day I was one of the first 1000 people. Absolutely breathtaking.
This is a typical IKEA which means....GREAT. Lots and lots of parking. Would have been better if the parking was all around or if there was some covered parking because when it's cold and windy and snowy/rainy, it can be a long walk to the store on a busy day. Otherwise, everything else inside is just great: products; people; etc. Just typical IKEA.
Great place to pay less for furniture. IKEA furniture is built more for utility than comfort. If you're not interested in putting the furniture together yourself, there is a service offered to do that for you too. I would recommend the food as well. They have decent food at a very reasonable price. I'm a huge fan of their veggie dogs (you can get two plus a drink for less than $3). They're sold at the kiosk on the way out (NOT the cafeteria).
My overall experience with IKEA was pretty good, but it takes a little learning curve to figure out how to shop there. The staff seemed more than happy to help, if you could find one who was available. And the first staff members you meet in the doors explain to you very well how to shop in IKEA if it’s your first time. Also the day I was there we could walk right in with no outside lineup, but inside at the restaurant there was a still a 1 hour wait just to get a seat. We decided to go to the cafeteria style food downstairs behind the cash. When we left later there was probably 200 people outside waiting to get in. And the parking was full when I arrived so I don’t know where they parked to be honest. If you’ve ever been to DisneyWorld, they park you in similar fashion. Only downsides are it’s still so new that the whole city wants to shop there so there’s not nearly enough parking. I was on a motorcycle and had to loop around the building twice (took about 30 minutes total to park) because they don’t want you taking normal parking spaces but to instead park in front of the trash compactor? I guess it makes sense for space saving, but they should’ve labeled an area as motorcycle parking to make it easier. All in all it’s a well organized store who knows how to deal with crowds for the most part, but since it’s still so new it’s going to be hectic.
So many categories of items to choose from. Sales people there to assist you. A two level shopping, with cafeteria upstairs and fast food at reasonable pricing on the main level.
Always out of stock on items which is always a hassle. Online "in stock" is not accurate- call ahead and save yourself an unnecessary trip.
Helpful, friendly staff. Lots of great household items at awesome prices. Large range of finishes and options. Innovative designs! Love the cool sofa we bought here. Lots of positive comments from our visitors!
It is everything you expect from ikea. A mind numbing assortment of products arranged in a labyrinth style layout. All for lower prices than you would find elsewhere. They always have excellent ideas for style and layout. Although you do pay for what you get here. However with a long term warranty on most of their products it's not such a concern. Just dont plan on a quick jaunt through the store.
We finished our kitchen with Ikea cabinets about a year ago. For what you pay, these are amazing. I loved building them and the cabinets are well made. I enjoy going to the store just to walk around. Each time, you see something you didn't see last time. Its also very cost effective
Not always as organised as they should be. Today's fiasco was an $80 lamp on for $40. Rang in at $80. Oh, only the black ones are on sale, I'd grabbed a very very dark green one (essentially impossible to distinguish), marked with the exact same product name, ARÖD. Colour not listed anywhere on package, unless in the fine print somewhere. Okay, bring me the black one I wanted anyway. None available. So why was it still on display, marked with a sale price?? Like I said, they are slightly disorganized.
This place is way too much fun to pass up if you have at least a couple of hours to spend. Kid-friendly, great food, quick service, and an easy-to-navigate showroom and warehouse make for an easy experience if you are new to IKEA, or if you have already visited another location. We were in Halifax for a basketball tournament when we visited, however we will most definitely return just for the shopping!
My 5 star review is for an amazing employee named Harvey! I had a pretty rotten experience earlier in the day with an employee who had no f’s left to give, wouldn’t even spare a minute to check an order code. Anyway I returned later in the day as I was unable to get through to ikea on the phone and had to speak to a real person for answers. Harvey was amazing, he was happy to help, went out of his way, was kind and understanding.....and low and behold my order was sitting in the warehouse, he delivered right to my car about 7 minutes after arriving! Thank you for being a decent person Harvey and having one f left to give...much appreciated..give that man a raise....give “Karen”a boot in the arse.
It was great! I had a leisurely look around at cool items, tried the mattresses - who knew U preferred girl?! - and enjoyed Lingonberry fruit water, the perfect size not-too-sweet mousse and the delicious marinated salmon! A fantastic visit.
Great staff that helped me pick out the right bed
People love this place. I get it. Just not for me. Nothing wrong with it. Love their stuff but my first time at the store and it isn't for me. Way to big. Forget trying to leave as every sign has a huge arrow for continue shopping but not much for exit. But to order online and have it delivered for me is ideal.
Love me some IKEA. Great selection of household items, and always nice to find something new pop up at this location. Have bought my fair share of furniture from here and the items are sturdy and seem to be built to last. The food court is a beast of it's own. Boasting such a large variety from meatballs, butter chicken to sandwiches sweets and beer. Cheapest breakfast in town at a full size plate with fruit and a low price of 2.50. Will go back for anything I may need for the house, and cant say no to a meal from there too.
I have been to IKEA in Toronto, Montreal, and a few in Europe. I am sooooo happy to have an IKEA in Halifax ! Had a great time discovering this truly modern Swedish wonder!! I am pretty sure I could furnish my entire home from this place... also the Swedish food store is amazing and the prices are great! I encourage anyone to discover the IKEA experience and this “newest store” is a must-see for any trip to Halifax! Four thumbs up!
Like most IKEA's there is way too much walking if you're going for just one item that's in the middle of the store. Staff are helpful and pleasant, store is bright and clean and price points are very good. Some conflicting info between the website and the store for online order pick up fee. Overall a good experience shopping there.
Not impressed with this place at all. First of all, it is absolutley massive. Second, it is a complete maze. I got tired of looking at stuff about 1/4 of the way through the store.....which btw, has arrows projected on the floor to tell you which way to walk, which makes sure you walk through the entire store. All I wanted was to get out of there and we couldn't find our way out lol! FINALLY we made it....and we never would have had I been the navigator lol! Wasn't all that impressed with the products and prices so not sure if I will attempt another visit.....
Alot of walking if you want to see everything but a big warehouse and there are some great prices on products.
Waited 3 weeks to finish assembling only to be sent the wrong part. I can't even call the store directly, and the toll free number is ALWAYS busy. The live chat feature is gone, and emails are not returned. #fail *edit* FINALLY got through a second time and even with A PICTURE OF THE PART I was sent THE WRONG PART AGAIN!!! The part is distinctive with a red dot on the end, the ONLY piece that does, and I wrote RED DOT across the image, but was sent two BLUE ones. A TODDLER could figure it out FFS.
What a great selection of items. The store can seem like a maze with so many different room layouts and a variety of departments. Prices are reasonable and one must not forget that you are required to assemble most furniture items. However the build and quality of the goods are evident
Wonderful ideas and storage, I love what this store sells. BUT too spread out and if you shop there be prepared to spend half a day. Sadly the lanes to pay for items are terrible. Yes the signage is clear but not at eye level. I seen many frustrated shoppers realize after standing in line forever that they were in the wrong payment type line and had to move and WAIT again. Maybe two signs while the store is new. Also lack of sales people, and not all item prices clearly marked. Wonderful that you give out maps but you walk forever to get to checkout because you are lost in mazes of items along with a lot of lost shoppers.
NOT a fan of Ikea as a business, period. Any company that is in business with illegal clear cutting logging companies that strips National Parks is not where I want my money to go. Cheap, absolutely! In both price and quality. DON'T buy a dresser from here if you have little kids and don't want them crushed.
Since opening I have purchased a nice tv stand and kitchen cabinets. Craftsmanship is top notch for self assembly cabinets (compared to home Depot cabinets I purchased in the past). Recommend spending time with a few different associates if designing a kitchen. it's good idea to get a few different opinions when laying out a design.
This IKEA has what I need. Environment, food, in-store staff, and everything else in store meets my expectations, if not exceed. However, the delivery is not so good, and the calling centre is horrible. The deliver person dropped a wrong piece - still acceptable to me. People make mistakes. However fixing this mistake cost me a lot. The rep I talked on phone said someone would pick the wrong piece up from our place - that person never showed up. And no one was answering when I called back. The second rep told us we had to send back the wrong piece to the store ourselves, and discuss with the in-store staff about rearrange delivery and assembly. After I insisted the piece is too large to us to send back, the only answer I got was still talking to the store staff to rearrange pickup and delivery. The only thing I learned from the calls is nothing can be done through the calls. Everything must be done in person and in store. In addition, I have to wait for more than 20 mins before each of the calls. My issue was quickly solved by the in-store staff and delivery team. Bravo to those people. And, only to be nice, I would say, among all calling centres I have dealt with, this IKEA calling centre has most space to improve.
Beautiful store..awesome prices! Laura ,whom works in the bedding dept on the bottom floor, was a wonderful help in deciding on a duvet purchase. She answered questions very honestly, and was extremely pleasant.????????
Ordered a kitchen 3 weeks ago. Promised delivery for following Sunday. No show. No phone call. Tried 3 times to get through to customer service, got put on hold twice and forgotten about, finally got through third time after 1 hour on hold. Got a new delivery date for the following Sunday morning. Waited around ALL DAY. No show, no phone call. Finally got customer service again, promised delivery again, no show again! Three times I waited around, three times let down, three times registered complaints. No response, no apology and NO KITCHEN. Shame on you IKEA! How am I supposed to get what I paid for? Update - just to qualify the above - I have finally received my kitchen. Once I managed to get hold of the store's customer relations manager she made sure i was looked after. Also good follow-up support from the call center rep once my complaint made it through the queue.
Has everything....but do not go tired... It is a long walk/ trip.
Love Ikea, just feel like a rat going through a test maze trying to navigate through
Love Ikea! Nice things for great prizes. Yes it is a big store and almost like a Maze but if you follow the arrows on the ground you are fine.
Easy to find your way around even if you can spend hours there. The kids love the cheap ice cream and hot dogs and actually they just loved looking around the store and playing. They have everything. It's good to shop local but no harm in supporting this company as well.
An update: Ikea are now telling me to contact THEIR contractor to sort this out which I have actually been doing since Dec but with still no resolution I contacted Ikea in the hopes that they would take responsibility for the job as it's not like one has a choice of which contractor to use when going through Ikea.... Just be aware that if anything goes wrong with your kitchen installation such as countertop installation when using the required Ikea installer, Ikea don't accept any responsibility even though they were the ones who got paid, not the third party. The cutout for my granite cooktop was too large and two months later no phone call, no compensation, just dead silence from Ikea. I can't even say their response has been poor as there hasn't even been one.
I say 4 stars, rather than 5, because the store is so big, its a little overwhelming. To their defence, I've only been there twice and I'm not familiar to the layout, yet. Their prices are great, based on what I've purchased, the quality is great. The staff are fabulous. I haven't tried the food yet, as there is always a long line up for the restaurant. If you're looking for a quick in & out shopping trip, you wont find it at IKEA. However, you will love looking at everything.
Love love LOVE IKEA! Located in Dartmouth Crossing, it has all your go to "needs" to shock your home back to life with all it's great, innovative, intuitive home decor...from bedrooms to bathrooms and of course the many different styles if kitchen ideas. Best of all, it's prices are excellent for the quality of the products offered. Lastly, it has two food courts that also have good for even better prices and a decent sized secured play area for the kids in case you want to have quality adult time shopping without the kiddos for an hour. Definitely worth the trip out....it won't disappoint
Hard to rate low. Layout is similar to all Ikea stores, so it’s easy to navigate. Some frustration with not having items in stock (like lightbulbs…?), but variety is good so we still got what we needed.
Huge store, lots of parking Have never had a problem with them not having an item I was searching for. Always lots of product in stock. The restaurant part has really good butter chicken
Beyond frustrating dealing with the overall lack of stock & stocking updates on their website. While other e-commerce businesses have successfully adapted to Covid & seized the opportunity, it appears IKEA has missed the boat. Staff are very friendly & helpful at this location & given current situation I commend them for their efforts, esp. given the circumstances.
Nice store. Great prices. Crazy place to get into though (traffic wise)
I used the Ikea click and pick up option for the first time yesterday. I thought I was setting up a pick up for this morning between 10am and 12pm. When we arrived the pick up was set up for tomorrow. The associate who waited on us said she would happily see if they could help us out today. Even though the store was incredibly busy, they pulled our order so we would not have to make another trip. Thank IKEA That is customer service!
We ordered a whole kitchen. The associate put the order in and there was missing screws for every cabinet hinge, wrong size and color drawers. No one could tell us how to get screws but that we could pick them up in store which is 4 hours away . We drove 4 hours because apparently the ikea help line can't s0eak to the store directly. The store didnt have them there either so they mailed them in 5 to 10 business days. They offered a 25.00 gift card for the inconvience. Are you kidding me. I would never ever order from here again.
Has an amazing selection of housewares but so much it is hard to know all they have. It is a shopping experience. We prepared to walk lot. Their cafeteria food is good and you may need it for nourishment after all the walking.
It's huge, the variety is crazy and so are the prices a great place to get things when starting on your own.
We got to the store and parked in the handicap zone. By the time my wife reached the door she was too tired to stay because of the marathon to worm through the area gated off to approach the store. It's unbelievably long for people with a disability. You have designated handicap spots close to the store but that was someone just not thinking clearly. You need to allow these people access without going through that tiring walk. Be sensitive to people with a handicap.
Huge store that has everything at an affordable price point. You can get lost in this store plus they have good restaurant and ice cream and cinnamon buns to brine the kids with...when and if you find your way through the maze...yes this store is designed like a maze
I just don’t understand why Ikea gives GIFT CARD if it can’t be used for delivery or click & collect. I have always been happy with Ikea products & services but during this pandemic things have not been working well. I purchased Ikea kitchen & bathroom during an ongoing discount event and got discount in form of gift cards which I can’t use for my next essential purchases before the store opens physically and I don’t have extra money to buy from somewhere else. I am not sure if it is even LEGAL for Ikea to deny using gift card for my purchase. Ikea should either accept using gift card for the purchase or refund the amount in my credit card. It’s been really very disappointing experience.
Ikea does not honor tax exemption even though they have a Mi'kmaq display in their store. They exploit indigenous culture and do not honor our exemption status. I felt degraded and disrespected asking for it. I had three employees surround me to "explain" that they don't honour unless we use their courier which defeats the exemption. Other vendors are able to do the exemption at point of sale and Ikea chooses not to, all while exploiting our culture for profits.
It's not my favorite place to shop. I feel it's layout is like a rat maze. I only ever go into this with a friend who knows her way around. Very poor store layout.
The store is very clean and set up in a way that promotes social distancing. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Had everything we needed. The online inventory was also accurate. Will be back for the frozen yogurt.
Ikea the more you go the better off you are. It is a very large facility and takes a couple of trips just to realize the inventory and location. Love the way the store is layed out as you can see how everything fits together and looks when assembled. It also give you ideas for the various rooms and layouts for planning a home.
help is useless in this store.i stood at the info desk for 20 mins to get no help. the line ups are insane. there are too many signs to tell you where you need to go but there is no signs to tell you where you are... loading zone are always full. took me 2 hours to buy a book self after looking on the computer when you first walk in the door that is supposed to help you find what your looking for but in reality it sends you to the showroom not to where you need to pick the item you came for at... i will never step foot inside that store again.....
cheap China junk. hate the layout of the store went up the elavater with the kids stroller could get back down. couldn't find the damn thing I wanted becouse Isle 1 is not labeled. told an employee as the walked buy me .she said we are working on it and just kept walking. didn't even stop to see if I needed help finding a 500 plus item. good job ikea I will never come back. and I am spending my cash elsewhere
A huge store especially for furniture at competitive prices. Options on kitchen utensils and utilities are limited and is a huge letdown. Also the absence of adequate manual help. Moreover some of items on display were out of stock. Still a long way to go to attain a greater rating
Took longer than I would like for stock to come in, but if that isnt a first world problem, I dont know what is!
The store is managing clients very efficiently during the Covid 19 period. Very curteous and easy to get help. Still a good experience. Plenty of stock.
Coolest and most environmentally friendly store in Halifax Metro Area
Be sure to set your mind on what you want before entering or else you might be confused as many items will be calling for your attention. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful place for all kinds of furniture, home and office appliances.
Well done IKEA. Lots of staff on hand if you needed help with something, hand sanitizer stations throughout the store, arrows clearly marked on the floor to follow, and help at the cashier area to keep the line moving well. All this on top of the usual great products.
Planned a trip to the Dartmouth store. Checked to see if the items I wanted was available. Nope all sold out. Tried to order for home delivery for the items since they were in-stock in Montreal. Nope only can get items from Dartmouth....( my previous order came from montreal so makes No sense) Tried the 1800 number was told tough, we can't send them from Montreal and if Dartmouth is out you have to wait.... I was willing to collected it at any NB collection point or drive to Dartmouth for the items if delivered there....NOPE. So you basically you don't want my business? ($1000)Was still going to buy the smaller items in store but I guess I will take my business elsewhere for everything. So disappointing to be treated this way.
We were looking for a bed with drawers. Went online & it wouldn't allow her to order one. So we went to the store. The lady helping us said there was one left. So we went & paid for it. Then we go to pick it up & they day they have everything but the drawers. Makes no sense unless your inventory system is inaccurate. Sorry but we're not happy.
IKEA is always interesting! Many things to see and buy! New and innovative designs which are great and give you ideas to manage your life better. You will find some simple stuff that make your life easier. Especially, there are a lot of items in IKEA which are very useful for organizing your home or workplace. The restaurant is wonderful and you can have a great meal with affordable price. A nice place for family to eat and see new ideas!
I just wright this but probably that might not help for customer service at IKEA to care about their customer, so I bought 3 items from IKEA and I need them to deliver it to my address first they give me a date but they change my delivery date with out telling us and move it to 5 day after we pick the date at store and when we receive the delivery after 5day we missed bed and bed frame so we have to sleep on ground. Manager at store was so rude and wasn't helpful when we told the manager the situation he told us "it is what it is" After that we had to call the main office so they told us that someone gonna call from after hour department after an hour but still waiting for that call for one day. Seems like they don't care about their customer because they got their payment for the merchant. None of the manager at IKEA care about us after the get there's part ((fee)).
Ikea addict here! Its just something about their showrooms that makes me want to replicate it.. dangerous addiction
Food court is available again with proof of vaccination (Dec 2021). Good place to have lunch on a week day as it’s relatively empty and good views. Fun store to browse and look at ideas on how to set up your home to look showroom perfect. Lots of space to walk around and easy to get lost in (even with arrows pointing you to your next place). There is also a circular hub near the check out area where there are sales on items that are not the prettiest or on items that there are limited in stock. Due to supply chain issues, there were no meatballs in stock, only veggie balls and plant balls (Dec 2021).
While kitchenware was just OK, I was disappointed in the rest of the store and its merchandise. The furniture styles were very ordinary, and items I examined closely were very flimsy, not like IKEA from years ago. The display rooms were cramped, even claustrophobic. The crazy layout of the store requires you to do way more walking than desirable. Why can't I just go in and go directly to the merchandise I am interested in? The restaurant is a joke, how slowly people are served. And the parking lot exit we used has 4 Stop signs within 40 metres. Highly unrecommended!
Great selection. Lots of stuff and organized into perfect sections Staff is always helpful
The IKEA store is great. The displays are generally very beautiful, and the food they serve is delicious and incredibly well priced. However, I had to deduct a star for the name of the store. It's located in Dartmouth, not Halifax.
If you know what you're looking for you can be In and out in no time. I was looking for an item and couldn't find anyone in the kitchenware sectuon. I found all other items easily. The store is always clean and tidy
For a home furnishing store of that size it feels very comfortable in size when inside, due to the layout you never see more than a hand full of demo rooms at once. The prices are exceptional and the food is a good deal as well (not to mention it's lisenesed). Overall I was impressed and am going back when I can get a truck to transport 6 chairs and a table. As my tiny car can only fit the chairs.
This is cheap junk all made in china. The prices are high for the quality of the stuff they carry..ok for a student that only needs it for a little while but still to high for the average student to purchase on a budget..8 out of 10 are always out of stock.. Whatever happened to supporting our own country with well made Canadian furniture or USA furniture?? Just my thoughts. But I won't be shopping there..
IKEA has always been a go to place for us for furniture and decor for temporary living here and there. Coming to Halifax, we went to IKEA to shop. We found a great bargain on a couch and wanted it. But we were told there were none left and a few more would be coming in, then it became 9 more coming in and then 3 more, and then no more and then just the display one and then the display one vanished and was taken off the showroom floor. That's when everything went downhill and we were given the run around and came back and forth 5 times and management even gave us wrong information and spoke to us robotically and programmed rather than as humans and really showed no customer care. THEN! Matt in the Recovery department blessed us with kindness and attentiveness. He actually listened to our complaint and concerns, then explained the situation to us and truly helped us in getting to the bottom of the situation. In my opinion, Matt is a great worker and deserves to be recognized for it. So, THANK YOU MATT and to his helper (also another Matt haha)! :D
Lead her to here if your girlfriend is sad !
Curbside pick up program is a disaster. Chat with customer support nearly impossible. We have been scheduled 3 times for pick up but told to wait for email stating pick up ready. No ready email. No explanation. Unable to reach support. IKEA can’t figure out how to have one item ready when promised, Yet Walmart and-superstore can fulfill a full grocery order and have it ready when they promise.
Ample easy parking. Clean and bright lighting in store. Food is also good. Best cinnamon buns around. A must have. Easy checkout lines. Loved going there. Gives great ideas for home decor.
Great store! A little on the large side expect to be there for a while. Good variety and quality. Staff is good and the returns department is just great! Love the store but you really should be called Ikea Dartmouth.....it’s 2019 Dartmouth isn’t Halifax’s ugly little sister anymore.
I love going to ikea and getting new furniture or household things
Halifax has IKEA! Not sure there's much more to say. As with all retailers, prices have increased and quality has decreased over the years. Value for money is still high but I'm less inclined to believe the products will last as long as they used to.
Wanted to purchase a new desk for my work station, I went to ikea and found a desk that fit my needs, upon further inspection I noticed that certain items were listed as “unavailable” the desk I was planning on purchasing fit my budget and didn’t have any indication that any of the parts were out of stock, I went to a fella working close by and double checked, all was clear, upon travelling to the warehouse level and heading to the correct isle and bin I was met with nothing and proceeded to the warehouse staff to see if there was an issue, and maybe they had them in the back or maybe moved them, but nope they were out of stock. The story doesn’t end there however, I decided to wait a couple days to see if the desk legs would come back in stock. About 4 days later upon looking at the website I noticed they were back! I used a stocktracker website (don’t know if it’s reputable) and sure enough there are legs in stock. I decided to purchase online because i live in quite some time away and it would be more convenient, after placing my order a couple of business days went by and I happened to receive an email saying the legs weren’t in stock and they’d refund the amount the legs would cost, I was very disappointed in this, now I’m getting sent a table top and no legs? What’s the use of that? Now i wasn’t gonna risk purchasing them online again, and almost knew for a fact they were i stock, so I trucked my way back. Sure enough, over 100 legs sitting in front of my eyes, how could this happen? If you’re planning on buying anything from IKEA go online and grab all the locations of multiple items that fit the Bill and hope you don’t strike out.
Very easy to fine what your looking for & always someone to help you.
Store too large for me, wow what a shopping experience, if you go in for one item, expect to be an hour, some ideas how to make your shopping more enjoyable, easy in easy out, more checkout, when you pick up your item it can be ready for pick up, when you see the item you want to buy the person in that department, phone or text ahead then they can have it ready. The staff were nice, store way too large.
Understandably the store is closed. Understandably click and collect is closed. The only option is ordering online and having it delivered. You have the perfect table for my needs and on sale for $29. The sad part is you expect me to pay $75 to have it shipped. I do not live in the middle of nowhere, I live in an urban center with an IKEA 10 minutes away. $75 to ship 10 minutes.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN NORTH AMERICA This is hands down the worst trained, worst managed and worst run IKEA I have ever stepped foot inside. Their manager Chris, is perhaps the MOST unprofessional employee I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I was returning items to this store and this was all during COVID-19 and after speaking with a customer service worker they ensured me that they would take my order back even if it was just outside of their 365 day policy. I drove for 5 hours to return to the store and was told that the items would not be accepted. I inquired with their inexperienced returns worker and they directed me to their supervisor Chris, who stepped out of his office to begin yelling at me in the lobby of the store without warrant. I was simply inquiring about why I was told it would be returned on the phone but then when I arrived after driving for 5 hours why it would not be accepted? He immediately, raised his voice and I could the veins bulging from his head, as if it were not his job to deal with returns at all, he told me to either take the gift card or get out of the store. Very professional. If, this was my employee (I am a business owner and manager) I would not hesitate to release him and at the very least sit down with him and explain to him how customer service works (it is in the very name itself). I will NEVER be returning to this store and I would encourage anyone else that goes inside to be aware of this supervisor bully that speaks down to anyone that he meets eyes with, including the employee I dealt with and any customer he talked to. He may need to be re-trained on what standards are accepted, but I will be continuing to pass on this message to never go to this IKEA location to as many people that will listen, especially my own clients.
Staff were awesome customers have to be nicer
My first experience shopping at an IKEA was amazing!! They have it down to a science. I felt overwhelmed in the beginning, but quickly understood how it all works. Amazing products at fair prices. I will definitely be back!
I love this place. Alot to look at wear comfy shoes. Bring cash, you always seem to need more, when you are there.
A little overwhelming, but staff excellent and very good selection. It's an experience that rivals many other stores. Found this beautiful velour couch but a little over the top on vibrant colors, then found the same one in dark blue in clearance section. If it had been green I would have bought it on the spot.
My favorite furniture store. Love the design, love the fact that IKEA aims for sustainability in their products and in the way they run their business. Love the fact that they sell PV systems, have PV systems on their stores and offer EV charging on their parking lots.
One of my kids favorite stores. Decent furniture for a reasonable price. Products are well thought out and designed. Responsible use of packaging as well. No quibble return policy, and you can find some real bargains in the returned section. Their cafeteria is reasonably priced as well.
Good selection of everything but they could improve the quality of some of the items.
$4000 order to be delivered, $1500 in items missing. 6 days of 5+ hours on the phone and still no resolution. Twice disconnected after 20 minutes without a call back when they have my number. They told me they aren't allowed to call back disconnected customers. Every time you call they make you recite all the details and then refer you to someone else who must hear all the details all over again even though they have established a case # for you. I question if they really try to stonewall you to the point of frustration so you just give up. Numerous times the "support team" has failed to call me with an update at their scheduled time. To be fair, their products are a good value but deciding to have them deliver is buying a ticket to Hades.
I have been witnessing what appears to be management being openly mean/ disrespectful to the staff... this makes me uncomfortable as the whole place just feels tense. The process to make large purchases is a bit confusing and this tense air does not make me feel comfortable approaching staff to ask for help.
We have always had great customer service at this location. We ordered a kitchen last December (2017). Upon stopping by this past Dec to discuss a small issue, the kitchen manager (Mark?) immediately approached us, remembered us, and also recalled the kitchen style we ordered. We were totally impressed. Prices are good. Any food we have had was very good...the veggie hot dogs were delicious...contrary to a previous review. We would highly recommend this store.
Love this Ikea, be prepared to spend time looking at the displays. This store has so many great setups to help you get ideas for your home. Staff were wonderful and very helpful , from helping print out our order forms to the actual check out. Looking forward to going back soon.
Pretty solid, looks very nice and is a great place for home design inspiration. Prices always seem fair and the quality of the products matches. The food options are good, especially for the vegetarians. I am a massive fan of their veggie dogs, but policy changes has meant my large family has to wait till everybody else has ordered before getting our food. It's honestly the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars. The daycare is super convenient with nice staff and my children always have fun there. Great place to spend an afternoon, get some lunch and shop for household needs.
Love the store but to finish a hr of shopping and get upstairs to grab some food and not a thing ready...no fish & Chips, no chicken curry only Mac and cheese, egg sandwiches and meatballs
You love it or hate it. I see why people love it but for me, the frustration of constantly getting lost and counterintuitive process and hassle of having to pull the stock myself unless I ask for help isn't ideal with a bad back. I have been totally unimpressed and consistently disappointed with quality and design of furniture, and assembly instructions are often impossible to decipher. Returning merchandise can take forever. ...I like the $1 veggie dogs.
It's good to see an Ikea open up here. It's a fairly typical Ikea, no different from any other, designed to keep you in there long. Furniture there is as expected engineered wood and particle board all over. The nice thing about the standardization is that it's familiar. The parking is also generally ample. The best part is frankly the food. Haha the in store sit down cafeteria serves decent meals at good prices with a clean well taken care of area. The check out food is quick and cheap! The check out "grocery" section is neat and offers all the Ikea food served up stairs in a take home package.
I LOVE Ikea! When I first came here I found it overwhelming and did not want to come back. My second trip was very enjoyable and was able to find exactly what I was looking for. I had trouble getting help in the self serve warehouse. I was able to get what I wanted on my own with some difficulty. It was however late in the day and may not have been enough staff to assist.
This Ikea is pretty quiet, even on the busiest days, and seems to keep a good amount of stock.
