I recently received a gift of a Sony camera that was bought at Henry's. The staff was extremely helpful to my gift giver. Better yet was that because they had a sale two weeks later, they gave me full credit for the sale price difference when I went back with my receipt. That being said, the gift giver was upsold on the expensive and almost useless extended warranty. That money would have been better spent on a case, or toward another lens.

Marco told me to bring it in along with my camera and got it fixed in about 15 minutes. Rude people! If you are looking for place to hear cynical answers to anything you ask then you are most welcome to walk into Henry's at Bayers Lake I came with family on 30th Sep, around 1pm for getting citizenship photos clicked. Before clicking I just asked a simple question - would you show us the photo before printing it? There was a long pause from the older gentleman literally staring at me for 30 seconds as if what have I asked, then came the rude reply - "I am not going to click 15 photos of you ok", this is not a photoshoot going on". Such a response to customers just asking simple questions is uncalled for. You could have simply answered yes or no. Overall the treatment was rude, never going there again. You just lost business by being rude.

I've been a fan of the Henry's brand for years but never lived close to a store, so I was really looking forward to my first retail experience. I just spent $300 on some lights for a video shoot and was blatantly discriminated against for a hidden disability. The salesman Andrew was courteous enough on the phone when I placed my order but I was denied service by the manager, Marco, when I entered the store. His explanation, "we're just following a policy set by Toronto". It is a policy that doesn't accept medical exemptions and it is against the law in this province – the Human Rights Act prohibits discrimination based on a list of criteria, including medical exemptions. It is black and white. A store policy cannot be enforced if it breaks the law. Henry's has broken the law by upholding an arbitrary policy set from their head office outside of this province claiming that it complies with a bylaw - there is no such bylaw. I will be filing a Human Rights Commission and serving them a notice. We cannot tolerate businesses that do not respect human rights, especially when their slogan is: "You Matter to Us". Not.

I want to thank them and Westcott for the Peter Hurley seminar a few years back. I've bought more than one camera and lens from Henry's. Marco (Manager) is passionate about the gear, has an encyclopedic knowledge and provides extraordinary customer service. He cares and treats you the way I suspect he would want to be treated. When I've had problems with gear, I've been able to walk in, discuss the problem, drop it off and they take care of the rest.

A few weeks ago I was having a problem downloading some pictures from my camera as I couldn't find the connecting cable to download. Older camera and hard to find cable connector. The staff at Henry's was so amazing. They bent over backwards to help me accomplish my goal. Seriously.....they used one of their cables and actually had to download the file to one of their computers and transfer the file to a thumb drive. I am so very thankful as it was for a friend and a sentimental photo. I will definitely be using Henry's in the future for all my photography needs. A big thanks to all the staff especially the young lady who looked after me.

Be aware that if they're having an offer with things added 'free', the price of the item is raised the value of those items. If you don't need the items, wait for the items to come off, because the price will go down. Their stated policy is 'You Matter to Us' but in reality, like every other business, the actual policy is 'Profits matter to us', and they're happy to see you go if they can't make as much as possible off you.

Poor service. They lost my business today when I went there to purchase a camera, based on a conversation I had with the salesman the other day. I told him I would be there to meet him and called upon arrival. I was told he would be right with me, but he stood outside talking with other people who arrived after me, without any acknowledgement. Today, Dec 20, I stood 30 minutes in line waiting to use the photo print machine, while a woman with 2 kids took her time to adjust a whole raft of kids shots.. I asked for help from 4 male staff members but got no help. I asked for Lisa Marie who waited on me last week, but was told she had left for the day. I went to Henry's last Sunday and all three clerks were busy with customers.Nonetheless, I'm not invisible- not small and have blue Hair- nonetheless, I encountered what seems to be a growing trend- middle aged women are ignored in stores- we're old enough and have shopped enough through our years to not expect a sales person to drop the customer that they're serving and slavishly spring to our side, but if I'm in a realitively small store, and am standing there quietly for 10 minutes or more, and I don't even receive an acknowledging nod with some eye contact, and I am , at the most, 5 feet away from the 3 sales clerks, it is obvious that I am invisible- A word of advice to the owner- train your staff to let anyone who enters your store know that they have been noted- a nod, a brief, "Hello, I'll be with you as soon as possible- a smile thrown in wouldn't hurt, either- remember, it's the customer who really writes the cheques. I left, but since I needed what I'd initially come for- only 4 photo prints, I came back later- a new clerk waited on me and was a dream for service- so 50%

He literally printed and resized them 5 times to make it work, and I was only charged for the print that worked. Exceptional service!

I cannot believe the outstanding service at Henry's in Halifax. My husband and I have always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful since we started shopping there several years ago. But my latest experience has convinced me that Henry's value their customers like no other retail store I've encountered. On the phone as we were shopping for a new lens, Marco took his time to answer all our questions and provide us with a wealth of information and assistance, with no high pressure sales tactics. Then in person, he provided the same high quality of service. But when Marco came to my rescue not once, but twice, over an issue with protective filters, I was convinced that Henry's at Chain Lake is a superior camera store with a superior staff.
