Went on their first day open after Christmas. There were 3 cashiers open and the line up to pay or exchange was all the way across the store to Starbucks. The staff that were there were absolutely wonderful despite the overwhelming number of customers. Management needs a kick in the butt for understaffing.

So impressed with the staff at chapter's today. With all of the new Covid-19 safety protocols in place and many things to keep an eye on staff were still exceptionally helpful, recommending books and authors suitable for my kids (kids not with me, I described ages and likes). I hope chapters/indigo appreciate their wonderful staff during this weird time.

Always a helpful and friendly staff. Great discount section. (Where I find my rock & other music related biographys, etc). Starbucks and clean washrooms. Pretty much a perfect bookstore for this typical mid-sized model of retailer. Kids always enjoy it here also thanks to some interactive play space in the children's section.

Great variety of books for whatever your needs may be, though I'm an even bigger fan of the novelty gifts found throughout the store. Worth the trip just to browse them. Even had a staff member approach me with the ability to take payment without having to wait in line at the register.

Love going here! Always lots of books I want to purchase. Staff is very friendly and supportive. Only concern is their ladies washroom looked like a bar fight happened in there, one stall is missing a door. Furthermore it's really showing its age, the counters are grubby and needing a major overhaul. The building is showing its age in some areas too. None the less this would not deter me from buying books here. Maybe the giftware section would since it seems to be expanding.... it's obvious they're trying to profit off of scarves and reading sox. ????

Love browsing through these well layed out book stores. Covid-19 protacalls are enforced as all occupants must where a mask over their nose and mouth. We felt very safe shopping there.

My son and I went to get him a book. Was made to use hand sanitizer, which for some reason was really gross feeling. Could not use computers to find location and could not find anybody to help. When standing in line to pay the areas were not clear and did not like the response from a female staff member when she told us. Think we will just buy our books online. Did not like the feeling of being in the store.

I love shopping at Chapters and can (and have) easily spent hours just browsing books. Staff is always friendly and eager to please, and they have regular promotions to keep customers interested and returning. The thing I like best is the wide selection of books in different categories and at different price points. There is something for everyone and every budget.

Their selection of books was smaller than I had hoped. However, they had plenty of other books on clearance or on sale, which made it easy to find something within my budget. Will be coming back!

OMGosh, this was an amazing visit! I was warmly greeted on entering and provided direction as to where I might find exactly what I was seeking. On top of that, I was further advised a staff person would come to where I would be, to offer any assistance I might need. True to word, a staff person arrived on que and she far exceeded any expectations I may have had. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable of the subject matter pertaining to the books I was seeking, she was warm, professional and genuine in helping me meet my needs. The professionalism continued as I went through the task of paying for my purchases.

Amazing selection of my favourite brand of greeting cards (Papyrus). This location usually has the books I want in stock, and I've also ordered online and had things delivered here. The Starbucks inside is a great treat, although it's currently undergoing renovations.

As much as I love a good, family-run small book store, it's hard to ignore that a big Chapters has almost anything you'd need from non-fiction to fiction and everything in between. I've always found the staff at this store to be quite friendly and it's large, welcoming, bright, and an easy place for us book-lovers to shop. Lots of parking, too, which is nice.

I hate to say I liked shopping at Chapter's because I have always seen them as a lifestyle store that happens to sell books. But, when you first visit a new city and you need something to read, it's comforting to know I can walk into any Chapter's and know what to expect with the magazines, the kids' section and the remainders. My experience in the Halifax Chapters is that the employees genuinely love books and enjoy helping the people who read them. It's a refreshing experience in a box store to have good customer service.

I LOVE chapters, it's such a comforting store to browse around in! Perfect for when you're not exactly sure what to get someone; I always come out with exactly what I didn't know I needed. My only complaint is that they've transitioned from an emphasis on books and quirky fun things to luxury items (candles, handcreams, lip balms, textiles, and home decor that are all WAY beyond my budget) with way fewer fun random gifts. I still very much appreciate having this store around though!

The Chapters at Bayers Lake is clean and well marked. There is a sanitary station at the entrance for all to use with a greeter directing new guests to. Great sales and lots of books, magazines, games and toys. At time of writing, the washrooms were closed.

The staff are fantastic in this store. I know nothing of books, and can barely read. Every time they notice me wandering aimlessly they offer help. I give them the most vague and unhelpful intel about the family member that I’m shopping for, and they always make perfect recommendations. Now my family thinks I know a lot about books. I’ve started wearing glasses to keep up the ruse, but I feel like they’re going to figure it out eventually.

My kind of meditation is taking a few hours of me-time, which can include browsing the closest Chapters. The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable, and seem to genuinely love talking about books! I always feel great after leaving Chapters store, even on the extremely rare occasions that I leave empty handed.

Great store, helpful staff, however some sections were poorly organized with random damaged products. Alot of the fancy journals were scratched and appeared ragged. Last but certainly not least, bookmarks.... why would a bookstore of this size have such poor selection of actual bookmarks, like a thing that marks your page in your book. The bookmarks they did have were cute but listed at 5$ or so per bookmark, quite outrageous price IMO. Nice visit, nice staff, bookmarks....

I love books, not just reading, but actually holding them. It brings a smile to my face. Chapters is just down the street from where I live and although I have an ample supply of books, I was looking for that unique gift that was nowhere to be found. I should have gone here, first! Books, nice nac's, reading socks (yes, fluffy socks to keep your feet nice and warm while you read your favourite book) and hundreds of items for all ages to make reading even more enjoyable. If you are looking for a specific book, the friendly staff are there to find just want you want or give you some suggestions. You will not be disappointed

Hands down the best experience in a Chapters. As soon as I expressed interest in one book, friendly staff appeared from nowhere and I was swept up into a wonderful wave of helpful book suggestions. They all knew exactly where everything on my list was, and we flitted from shelf to shelf meeting more excited staff. Everyone rocked!

Absolutely garbage location. After a year of wearing a mask they decided to kick me out of the store because it wasn't a dollarstore type mask. With restrictions being lifted and cases low AND vaccines now, I was cornered in the store and told to leave. Will never be giving this store my business again

Staff here are super friendly and they have a ton of kid's and baby items. The actual store is great but the bathrooms are.... well, it reminds me of a bar at 2am. The place is literally falling apart and I can't believe it's part of Chapters and Starbucks. For two well-known reputable brands, I'm surprised this hasn't been renovated yet. Ick.

I love this chapters! It is the only one around that I've been able to find American girl dolls at! It is quite large and there is a rather big selection of books available. There are lots of cards, stationary, mugs, ornaments, tea... A real variety. There is also an attached Starbucks.

More expensive then Amazon for most stuff. Good if they have what you need and don't want to wait a couple of days. Didn't have the books my son was looking for even though they are pretty popular. Or maybe that's why.

Chapters has friendly helpful staff to help you find the gift or book you're looking for easily. Although the store has computer kiosks to search their online inventory, it's almost always easier these days to just buy a book at Amazon to get the best price and quick shipping. That being said, it's a great place to hang out for a bit and check out new books and or grab a coffee at the conjoined Starbucks. Don't forget to check out the discount section there's always a great selection of books at remarkably reduced prices.

A very nice book store with a large selection of books ranging from Sci-Fi to History to Cooking to Romance and anything in between. The staff is very helpful, friendly and polite! They are also very passionate about their job and it shows when you ask for a book recommendation.

Bookstores are dying out but this is a pretty relaxing shopping experience. The selection is good and you can order stuff online too. Having a Starbucks inside adds to the charm (even though I'm not a huge Starbucks fan I am a fan of reading a new book and having a coffee). There's a great children's section too even if there are a bit too many toys.

This place has a great atmosphere with a good book selection. I usually get lost looking at all the other trinkets they sell besides books. My children(3 and 5) love to visit this store as well. They often have programs for the kids to take part in. Overall I would recommend this store.

Good place, plenty of books for any kind of reader. A surprising amount of boardgames and table top rule books. Comfortable atmosphere but at certain points in the store in feels too big. There's a lot of unused floorspace.

Lots of great items on clearance, tons of new modern décor, lovely baby items this Chapter's Bayers Lake location has everything you need. The staff at this store are always eager to help you find items and if not available always willing to suggest something similar. Also I had a very pleasant experience with the cashier who was more then willing to communicate with my 9 yr old daughter who wanted to pay for her things with her own money, he helped her count her money etc and also interacted with her about the purchases she was making. My daughter even commented when we left that "he was really nice mom"

If you love books, Chapters is like paradise. Books are reasonably priced but there's just so many to choose from I always leave wishing I had more money. I found the Halifax Chapters to be great. Staff are on hand & willing to help. Great place.

As long as you are willing to accept that your book store is 45% toys, gift ware, electronics and stationary then this place is a great stop. The kids area is great with room to play. The store itself is always well looked after, clean and organized. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful.

Chapters is a great place to visit to pick up any books you might be interested in. They also sell e-readers, magazines, note books, planners, gift items, pens, and a huge selection of children's toys to name a few. One great bonus is you can take a short walk across the store to the Starbucks for a coffee. The staff are always friendly and ready to assist if needed, but the do not harass you like in some other retail stores.

I wish chapters wasn't so expensive, but it's a great store. This chapters is massive, with a whole wall of beautiful notebooks and planners. The kids section in this store is really cute, with stuffed animals and games and a teacup that a few people can sit in at a time. There are sale/clearance sections in every area of the store, and they ca be really interesting to look at. This store also has a reasonably sized electronics section where you can get a fitbit, camera, etc.

Place has a great selection of books and other items. Books and categories are easy to find and they have a big selection of items on SALE as well. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The only negative is that the check out counters are very slow and usually only have two staff working so expect a bit of a wait when paying for items

A friend gave me a present purchased there for Christmas, but it was defective.She had thrown out the receipt.I phoned Chapters to explain the circumstances and asked about returning it .I was delighted to find that there would be noproblem, and when I took it back, they were willing to exchange it for a different scent since they had sold out of the one that was the same as my gift, or for a gift certificate! Good customer relations, and also I plan to shop there myself in the future after seeing the lovely selections in gift ware!!

Great experience on Dec 18 2021 thanks to the staff. Very helpful and showed me where multiple items were I was looking for very quickly. To the Greeter, the on Floor and the Cashier staff that were in Great Spirit thank you! I even ended up buying more items and a blanket at the till I was so pleased with the outing on a busy Saturday before Christmas they were so nice. Just goes to show you'll spend more when your having a good time. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Staff!! Thank you!!

Twenty years ago you walked into a Chapters Bookstore because it contained over 100,000 different book titles. Now you have to maneuver through what appears to be third world market stalls of trinkets and chachkies to find where the bookshelves are. Their book offerings are not even close to what they used to be when Chapters was in the business of selling books. Don't waste your time here. Support your local bookstore. My personal fave is Bookmark on Spring Garden Rd.

Always friendly staff. You are allowed to get a drink from Starbucks and then wander and look at books. Staff are helpful, the kids section has lots of choices and so does the home department. Great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

I was very surprised and disappointed with my latest visit. I used to spend hours here finding books or magazines to read here. The magazine section is now very small and very limited. Only about 40% of the store actually has books now, which kind of shocked me. All they stock are kids books, best sellers, books for teens, some historical stuff and mysteries. I was looking for books on electronics and/or tube amps. The "reference section" is now a single column. Sigh... I know we all did this by shopping online, but it is still sad.
