If only I could give 0/5 stars. Horrific service. They back ordered 2/3 of my items within 2 weeks. They never put anything aside for their customers so if you’re waiting on one thing on backorder, you better hope the other doesn’t get back ordered. Also have waited countless hours during all times throughout the day just to get ahold of customer support. Why not go through live chat you may ask? Because I’ve also tried waiting 4 hours for someone to answer, which they never did. The 2 other companies in which I ordered from along with Canada Computers, shipped and delivered everything before Canada Computers could even process anything. Worst company I have ever ordered from.

I was so excited for this store but my experience ended up being extremely disappointing. I went to the counter where they keep the computer components and asked if they stocked a certain type of graphics card. For context, I'm a woman and I was with my boyfriend at the time. While he was standing next to me, he had nothing to do with my inquiry to the clerk. The man at the counter checked his computer (I could instantly tell he wasn't very friendly), and after a few seconds he walked back over to us and began to tell my BOYFRIEND but the part that *I* asked for. Seriously infuriating and downright sexist service. I work in customer service and my boss would fire us on the spot if we acted this way towards customers. Not to say all the employees there were bad, but enough were to spoil the experience for me.

Beware of their price match, I was told when they opened in Halifax that they would gladly price match with Newegg.ca Went in today and the Manager took it personal got very uncomfortable and salty, they chose the fastest shipping method from Newegg which is the most expensive when "free shipping" is clearly stated on newegg.ca to add to your price match so in effect they do not actually price match fairly. Off to newegg.ca for a better price and free shipping. Kinda sad because I was excited for a new store in Halifax it did not take them long to disappoint.

Bought all my components to build my first gaming PC from here, It was awesome to see all the components in person rather than ordering them online. Staff was nice at the counter but was more concerned about selling me a warranty than answering my questions. Luckily i did a lot of research on the components i wanted. Also it seems like the staff is afraid to leave behind the counter and come ask if you'd like a hand finding something, if you do see someone its like there sprinting to the back room for a break. Price matched a GPU and they tried everything they could to NOT honor there own price matching procedure and guidelines that are online. Finally a manager approved after about 15 mins of staff members trying to come up with an answer. The price match isn't a true price match because they add on the cost of fastest shipping available to the lower price. Lucky for me it was only $9.99 so i still saved some money but i can imagine some things you wouldn't save any money at all. Good store but better customer service would make it a great store.

Haven't built or upgraded since 2012. Needed new CPU, MOBO, CPU cooler and RAM. Got everything I needed here at competitive prices to Amazon and Newegg.ca. I am a prime member and premier member but with Canada Computers being a physical store with friendly staff...it's something this municipality sorely needed. W continue to do business here until proven otherwise. Just stay vigilant with your pricing!

I really think canada computers would have been great here, but given the service and their lack of effort, I unfortunately can't say that anyone should go to this place.

Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff, fair prices with lots of stuff usually on sale. They actually allowed me to return a sketchy power supply and exchange it for a better one, which they didn't have to do since technically there wasn't anything wrong with the unit (at least not yet). Only complaint is I wish they would answer the phone more often. Been calling every now and again to check if they've received any 30-series GPU's and the phone just rings forever. Unfortunately you have to act fast trying to get a GPU these days and it's difficult when no one will answer the phone. Otherwise, great store !

Went in because I needed a new computer and was making the switch from laptop to desktop. Simply went up to the service counter and explained my needs to the sales associate (who's name I regret not getting) they listened to my needs, provided options and answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand. Could not have asked for better costumers service and once I got everything set up at home the everything works just as good as they said.

Nice to have this shop locally for components and for us DIY system builders. I've always found the staff to be quite friendly, as well, and they seem pretty well informed. RE: some of the reviews below, the first few months during COVID made entering the store a bit restrictive (2 people at at ime), but I won't blame a business for trying to protect everyone during uncertain times. And as of writing, they're up to 1 person per employee in the store and wait times are negligible when I've popped in.

Here we have a store that won’t stand behind its products. My son purchased a monitor from them less than two months ago that is now intermittently failing. They refuse to take it back because he doesn’t have the original styrofoam it was packaged in, saying that they’d have to take a loss. I guess they’d rather he took the loss. Do not shop here.

Great range of products, excellent service. You can find all sorts of computer related things and even put a tower together with the specifications you desire. I recently bought my new laptop from them, a few gadgets and left my husband's laptop to be diagnosed. I've got pretty good discounts for boxing week.

The Prices are great, and its a Great addition to Halifax for the Gaming/Computer Scene. I Have Built Computers from components purchased here and most of the staff are Friendly. However, I Waited 45 Minutes at the counter for someone to help me just to buy a stick of ram, and had someone push ahead of me and get the attention of someone to purchase their ram. I ended up walking out after waiting, was not impressed at the service. 45 Minutes and was not even acknowledged... Edit: I have updated my review because in the 5 times I've gone in since this occurred, and have been acknowledged almost immediately!

This place came recommended to me as a local business, which was appealing to me. I needed a new laptop, so I went in and was helped by a friendly person, and left with my new laptop, a lenovo ideapad. When I was setting it up, it said that there was only 10 months left on my warranty, which was really weird for me. When I would install a program, it would give me an error, then install it anyway, and later I would get weird glitchy errors when using the program. The camera also made it look like I was in a fog bank. It was super blurry. The webcam on my 5 year old mac was far better than this one. Needless to say, the laptop didn't meet my expectations and I recognize that this isn't the fault of the store. I eventually left the store with a full refund, but the person that I dealt with negated everything I said was wrong with the laptop. I explained the warranty issue, he fiddled around with it and showed me a date that reflected the date that I actually bought the laptop, which is fine, but I know what I read and it clearly said the warranty only had 10 months left on it. I looked up online that lenovo computers can have errors on their warranties and that some people have to call the company to reset theirs, so I'm not the only person this happens to and I'm surprised that a lenovo dealer such as Canada Computers isn't aware this issue and would just deny my statements. We couldn't recreate the errors that I was experiencing with the programs when I was in the store either, so that was denied by the customer service person as well. When I mentioned the webcam issue, he opened that up too, and I became worried that it would be crystal clear or something and make me look like an idiot since none of the other issues I was experiencing at home could be proven in store. Luckily, the camera was incredibly blurry, just as I said it was. The person helping me said, "Oh, well that's because it's pointed right at the lights." I explained that this is exactly what was happening at home and that I didn't have this sort of lighting in my home office. I need a decent camera on my work laptop since videoconferencing is kind of important nowadays. I'm not really sure why everything I was concerned about had to be negated in such a manner. I wasn't even actually told that they were going to refund me, so it felt like I was being told that none of my concerns were real, which suggested that I was going to be stuck with the computer. I wanted to go to this place because they are locally operated and rather than going to one of the big box stores, I thought it would be good to support this business. Instead, I was told that none of my issues were real, but it was also explained to me that I can just take time to troubleshoot all the problems. I just don't have time to figure out problems with a brand new computer nor do I enjoy being told that my issues are not real. Someone in line while I was waiting to get into the store said to get my money back and go somewhere else. I think that was good advice. It's a shame though because the initial customer service was great.

The folks that work here are very helpful and knowledgeable about everything that relate to computers. They helped me pick out a proper PSU and a proper cooler for my PC upgrade so my system wouldn't underperform and overheat. Very satisfied with their selection and the folks that helped me.

Usually have tons of products in stock and staff is very friendly. Would be a better rating if they could pick up the phone here. Tried for 5 days to get ahold for information and couldn't get through, trying various times during the days. Got a confirmation email and text saying my curbside is ready only to get to the location and have to wait inside and go in for it anyway.

Good store deals and good selection, although you may find some "Brand New" on sale but turns out to be open boxes that are resealed. Also some staff don't know much about the product you're describing, such as not knowing what a 2.5" hard drive is? and keeps giving me 2.5" SSD's. Its best to know what you're looking for and not relying on the staffs unless you don't really have a choice.

If they are affected by covid they need to tell people this when you’re making a purchase online and to expect delays who expect quick service. I get an email after I’ve made a purchase that says they’ll get my stuff ready right away. Says they are open 11 to 6 but they can’t answer the phone or at least have an automated message for callers to let them know the situation. Poor customer service.

Was in today (after standing in corona line up for an hour and a half in the freezing cold) because I wasn't able to ship a pre-built gaming computer from the Canada Computers website. I was greeted politely and optimistically, which is awesome with everything going on right now. It had been a long time since I had built a gaming PC and was out of touch with what new components would work best. Craig helped me through the whole process, helped me decide which components I should use and how they would all play together, while staying near my budget. I asked him to give me a 30 second run down of what the headers on the motherboard were, and he explained clearly and told me any other info I would need concerning lighting and fan controllers would be in the case manual. I put it all together this afternoon and it runs great! We did forget an exhaust fan, and a fan cable splitter as the motherboard only has two system fan headers (see you Monday)!

Picked up new ram, customer service was top notch and he answered my questions and when I asked if I should go to a more expensive kit for my setup he was honest and told me I wouldn't see any benefit instead of pushing me to more expensive stuff for a better sale. He explained everything about the speeds and took the time to help me get the best ram for the money. Unfortunately I didn't remember his name but he looks like the dude from gamers nexus anyway. Super helpful guy, really an asset to this store.

Bought a cable from this store for my sons new computer monitor. when installed it was not allowing the computer to boot up. did some research and discovered that these cables can be made to have an extra pin in them that will supply power from the monitor to the computer and not allow it to boot up. took back the cable but had not kept the plastic bag it was purchased in and they refused to do return for a non defective cable. was told that they have to be able to resell the item being brought back. I told them they cant sell the cable because it does not work properly but he said they have to be able to resell the item in order to do the refund. so my advice is stay away from this store. or at least do not buy anything from them that says open box. chances are they are reselling items that have been returned as defective!!!

Please Update Your Website - Due to COVID concerns, this store isn't allowing anyone inside the store despite indicating the opposite on the company website, a fact I discovered after waiting in line outside for over half hour. The presentation of the store as a whole is beautiful, super open and everything is super easy to find. And for the other people reviewing saying that the prices are too high, you don't know what you're talking about, this is the price of computers.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Customer service is the most terrible thing I’ve ever encountered. I never even got to experience it. It was brutally impossible to to cancel an order, as they would never answer. Once my order was delivered, my power supply was defected and now I am attempting to get a hold of them. Changing my review. Advertised a product as new online. Drove 45 minutes to get it only to find out it was a demo a year old on display and used. Employee not helpful at all. As I have seen on this website, I agree with some of the posters about poor customer service! No one answers the phone. No one responds to emails. I bought a laptop back in April and already the pointing device doesn't work. When I looked up how to fix the problem online, the internet said I should be able to update the drivers. When you go to the control panel, there is no option to pick the pointing device under "Mice and hardware". I shouldn't have to bring the laptop back to the store for such a simple problem! I was impressed at first when I bought the laptop, but they seem to not be interested in helping once you leave the store with your item!!

Beware!!!Horrible product and service. I bought a laptop from them and in less then a month the battery wouldn't charge past 94%. I decided to let it be because it didn't affect the performance and now after having it for 2 months it is broke. They refuse to repair it or replace it or refund me. I was told they would fix it if i bring it to them several hrs away and at my expense I am now stuck with a computer i cant use and am out a lot of money. I trusted them because they say Microsoft certified refurbisher i guess i was wrong. I will be contacting Microsoft only to tell them their name is associated with such poor service. I feel like i have been scammed. The pic is of the only thing that comes up on my computer. I am warning everyone i can. Dont waste your money.

Covid-19 crisis or not, DO NOT SHOP HERE! This is my second bad experience with Canada Computers Halifax location.. The first was when I went looking for a case which showed in stock on the website. After looking myself and being unable to find it, I asked the clerk. He said if it wasn’t on the shelf they didn’t have any (there was supposed to be more than 1 in stock). He wouldn’t look it up in the system even though the store wasn’t busy (unusual, the place is normally quite busy). I left and immediately ordered it on the website for pickup in store, next morning I got the email that my item was ready for pickup. Now with Covid and their curbside pickup.. It has been seven days without any word on pickup. No answer at the phone, no response through email. They definitely took my money for the product though! I’ll be charging it back on my credit card and never do business with Canada Computers again. UPDATE: Still no response from Canada Computers and their curbside pickup isn’t really curbside. You have to wait to be let into the store to pick up your product. Ridiculous.

I never plan on going back there. Ask them specifically to do something for my motherboard to make a CPU compatible and they didn't even properly do it. Making it seem that the CPU was broken when in fact they never flashed the BIOS to the latest version like I asked them to which would've made it work and management just brushed it as the employee did it for safety compatibility reason which wasn't even the case since the manufacturer provides the BIOS update. Only positive thing that came out of this is I now have a solid PC repair place that knows what they are doing.

Absolutely no service no help interaction with myself or other customers. They probably love their work as they regale each other of stories about the customer base. If we are not wanted in the store then make it a pick up only or delivery only store. The only person who seemed to know his job was the guy on the cash. But, still didn't know how to deal with questions posed by those older and ran away from the cash if you did not have any merchandise in your hands. Definitely not a repeat customer! Sorry is the closest I would would say about this company as being Canadian.

Great product selection..However pricing on the shelves was not up to date with the website and required assistance from the staff to find products. Having said that though, they were VERY helpful and went out of their way to assist in finding those products for me. Even opening a box on a new keyboard so I could look at it before purchasing. Great addition to the Bayers Lake business park. If you need anything for your desktop computer, from a mouse to a monitor, they have it. Warranty is really good even from their website. You would think that on opening weekend they would go all out to establish a reputation for good service and competitive prices. They quickly erased that possibility with me when they refused to price match (for a cheap mouse of all things) with Best Buy, so I went to Best Buy.

I attempted to exchange a 2 day old defective monitor (1 of 3 that I had purchased) because of light bleed issues. The rude employee at the service center had trouble diagnosing the issue under the bright store lights for 10 minutes and decided I was making it up. I didn't bother mentioning that I'm an expert in this field with 18 years experience but the qualifications of the employees here are deeply concerning. I even had to stop the guy before he attempted to clean the brand new display with Windex, which he later mentioned to his coworkers so they could laugh about how I don't know what I'm talking about. The monitor was ultimately exchanged and the employee made a point of telling me that it was going back on the floor to be sold to someone else (I'm sorry, whoever you are). They gave me a monitor that they had opened and, "verified," was working before sending me home with a monitor and no display cables (HDMI and Displayport) in the box. I guess I'll have to make another trip back to the store, for the last time...

They are gauging the price of Nvidia video cards and are selling them only if you buy the whole computer. The excuse is because of scalpers, but what they are doing is exactly the same, and worse because the price is inflated and they are available only in bundles.

I don’t know where to start. Customer service is non-existent. My friend purchased a $1,400 monitor with a $300 warranty, the monitor didn’t come with mounting screws to secure it to the stand. After bringing it up to the store managers attention he suggested he goes to Home Depot to pickup screws lol. With the lack of service received my friend decided to return the monitor. We were in the store for a solid 40 min after they took the monitor waiting for the return. Honestly this left a sour taste in my mouth and I will never purchase anything from this store. Best Buy set a bar too high for this company to follow. Wish them all the best but until they learn more about customer service they will not succeed.

Went to get a gaming mouse but couldn't find someone to open the case for me, eventually gave up and left. Lots of employees but there were about six of them behind the counter serving two customers, nobody on the floor. This was on a Saturday so might be better on weekdays. Price and selection are okay, but if you know what you want order online and pick up in store. Edit: Tried again on a weekday when store was almost empty but was even more frustrating trying to get someone to help me get something out of the case. Waited in line for 10 minutes and when I got to the front they started doing work on the computer (processing an order from the phone?) and didn't acknowledge me. Several people behind counter doing what they could to not help. Changed to 1 star.

To the employee whom insisted the product I asked for (pricing hard drive converter) wouldn’t fit and tried to sell me another one that actually wouldn’t have fit... guess what it fit in my Mac Pro with no problem. Also next time you ask if someone wants to go from 3.5” down to 2.5” or from 2.5” up to 3.5” as I tried to explain to you in store when you said there are certain circumstances that you could.... you have a 2.5” hole/space , you take a 3.5” ball ... is it going to fit? Not to mention that most 2.5” applications can’t supply power for a 3.5” drive. When a customer asks for a specific product just sell them that product, chances are they are more educated on the application than you are.

Got what I came for. Bought online for in-store pick-up. Same day delivery was only $4.5 if you live far. Had all the parts I needed. They have a lot of affordable parts from China. They carry the some of same stuff from Amazon. Customer service was non existent but I knew what I wanted. Lots of parts on display to compare. Would buy here again to support local.

Ebrahim, a very polite and very helpful young man, should DEFINITELY be recognized for his professionalism and efficiency. I don't know much about computers so my husband sends me with pictures to purchase equipment and such. This young man went above and beyond to help me. All I had to do was pay and thank him, which is all I want to do, not wander looking for something I have no idea about. This is my husband's new favorite store and fast becoming mine. Well done!!!

Store seems to have a good selection of products. Nice to see a dedicated store for computers in Halifax. Store is always clean and tidy with lots of staff around to answer questions. Our first time there it was supposed to be open until 8. Met an employee in the parking lot who said they were closed. Ask what time they were open until and he said 8 with a smile and proceeded to get into his car and drive away. It was 7:15. Since that day, we visited two more times in which the store was closed, contrary to the posted hours.

Horrible service buyer beware. Purchased expensive keyboard one key popped off within a couple weeks. Tried to exchange item and they would not do it because the service guy said it was "physical damage and they do we cover physical damage". There was no physical damage only a defective product and I will not shop somewhere that does not allow returns or replacement of defective items. Horrible service. Another thing to note is that when I emailed them with my issue they would not even respond.

Terrible service in Halifax. Price matching policy is a joke!!! They are trying to charge you for the fastest delivery, and for EACH ITEM!!!! I was about to purchase 3 access points, which were 299 each in store. Other Canadian store has them for 229, with free 2 day delivery and $29 next day delivery. The manager at the store tried to charge me $29 x 3, for each item…… unbelievable !!! Very unpleasant to deal with.

Freaking love this store. I go fairly frequently. They don't constantly pester me while I'm looking around like BestBuy does, they ask once if I need help then move on, which is great. They usually have what I want in stock at newegg prices or better. They're friendly, helpful and honest. Highly recommend this store.

Miserable service in Halifax. Went in, found a laptop that interested us on sale, and waited for a sales associate to be available to ask a few questions. When he finally came over, he gave us a basic rundown then someone else came in and showed interest as well. He then told my wife and I he would get us one from out back. When he finally came out, he came over and told us the display was the last one and started unhooking it. We discussed it and when he finally unhooked it all from the counter he casually told us sorry but he had already sold it to someone else. To top it all off, the supervisor on shift watched all this happen and never said a word. Wouldn't waste my time or support this buisness. Went to staples down the road and they were amazing. Plus sold a better laptop at a better price!

AVOID THIS STORE!!! THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO SCREW YOU OVER!!! I made a $2400 purchase at this store and wanted to return the item within the refund policy. When I tried to return it the debit machine said "EXCEEDS REFUND LIMIT" which if you do any research at all you can see that it is a Moneris error, a payment system they work with. However, the young, ignorant manager tried to blame my bank for the error, which I spent hours on the phone with my bank manager and other departments from the bank who have never heard of the error. The only thing the manager at Canada Computers would say is "it has worked in the past so it should work now". He never even looked into it after my bank called him. I don't even know how you land a manager position when you treat your customers like that. Absolutely ridiculous. Instead of taking responsibility for the situation and providing the refund in cash or check form, he just said "nothing we can do". UPDATE: I gave them the option to contact Moneris and sort the issue out, or I am disputing the charge. They called Moneris and what do you know? I was right!!! It's sad when you walk into a computer store and have to troubleshoot technical issues on your own.

Don't ever come to this place to fix your computer, it's extremely inefficient and expensive, it takes them 7 days to transfer 150GB files, you need to call constantly to make sure the progress is made, no one will contact you after they finish the work.

I purchased two of the same USB thumb drive memory sticks back in September and when I took one out of the package yesterday I discovered it had a tiny connector (not visible as it was hidden in the dust cover in the sealed package and on their website pictures) instead of the usual standard sized USB connector. Upon calling them by phone at 10:05 am, Monday, Jan 3, 2022 and speaking to a sales rep asking if I can exchange them for the proper one, he said no as it has been almost half a year. Walmart and Costco have better customer service. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

I truly like to shop local but this is a store that will send you looking on line. Customer service is almost none!!! Staff stand talking and talking and talking... Or simply pass you by with a very important piece of paper in their hand. Web site in stock numbers are incorrect. Have had my last frustrating visit to this place for the last time. Helllo Amazon! At least my waiting is comfortable at home with a good cup of coffee... I do not recommend this mess!!

Ive been to this store many times.. much better than best buy.. Miles better even. Any PC part you could possibly want.. the staff are incredibly helpful except maybe one or two people.. Ive been abandoned a few times by the smaller Alex guy on different visits to the store.. I have also noticed this person sitting numerous times and on his phone every time I go there.. I guess the management doesnt care much.. but the others wouldnt seem to dare sit or be on their phone when customers are in the store. Anyway I digress.. This is a great store.. id give it a 5 star if it werent for the bad handful of interactions Ive had with this one employee.

One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I bought a bunch of new parts from them and there was a missing item in my order. To reach the store there are 3 options. You can go there where you will wait an hour outside before going in. You can send an email which I tried and never got a response. Or call where they've only answered my call once out of the 10 or so times I called. The time they answered the phone and I told them about the missing item, they told me they don't handle those issues in store and I had to call the head office. Fair enough I thought and I tried to contact the head office. I first tried calling and got greeted by an automated system which once I selected the department told me "we are too busy to take your call right now” and hung up. I tried calling about 6 times over the course of 2 weeks with the same result every time. I also tried sending them an email. I got no response from any of the 3 emails I sent. My issue hasn't been resolved and frankly, I don't want to support a company that is too busy to offer any sort of customer service. After the Christmas rush, I will be going back and getting a refund. I'd advise you shop somewhere else. There are other computer stores that aren't too busy to answer an email when you have an issue.
