THIS PLACE IS THE HEIGHT OF INCOMPETENCE. I've had: contacts that came with the wrong prescription, contacts that were never ordered, contacts that were the wrong type/brand, contacts that arrived but they never called to tell me, records that went "missing", and often a combination of these problems. I have been a customer for many years, and I cannot recall a time when they failed to screw up. On top of it all, no one there has ever apologized, or even admitted to a mistake. NEVER AGAIN.
Awesome
From start to finish it was a terrible experience. After a month of headache inducing phone calls and visits I walked away with only half of what I needed.
I will say my experience with sterling optical on niagara falls Blvd. Was a bit bad and good. The day I called to be a walk-in was rough. The gentleman on the other end of the line got quite rude but I let it go. The trip there with my 3 year old at the time (who was turning 4 in a couple of days) had her first eye doctor visit. The doctor was as patient as he could be in the moment but he could've tried just a little bit more. My daughter was a little antsy.. Again she was 3 soon to be 4. Who also, Didn't have breakfast yet. A choice I made So her father could make it to work on time. The eye doctor used a poor choice of words in saying my daughter was "up the wall." Not true at all. I would not allow that ever! I did not appreciate that at all. We picked out our glasses and the receptionist again were very helpful.. More patient with my little one, than I myself was that morning.
I had a Saturday appointment which really helped me out. They were very nice and very helpful. Upon arriving we were greeted immediately with a warm smile and inviting demeanor. The receptionist gave me a form to fill out. Once done she invited us to look at the frames we would be using. All the frames were color coded and made it easy to see which ones insurance covered. Then before we even had a chance to pick , the doctor called us. The appointment was for my ten year old son. The doctor was very friendly and patient with my son. The doctor then gave my son eye tests and we were on our way! We chose the frames. They told us to come in anytime if we needed adjustments on frames. My son needs them adjusted now because he stepped on them. We are going there now to get that done. Overall our experience was very good. I would recommend this place to everyone! Very pleased with prices, the service and the cleanliness of this sight. Ty Sterling Optical for our glasses. I ended up getting a pair and so did my daughter who is 24.
Went to this place on Friday th 3rd glasses where never fitted to my face today the fell off my face outside scratched the glass now being told it is on me not a good place ....the gen manager called me they are going to fix them for me thank you jomary
This would be a perfect review if they didn't give me a hard time about my insurance. I made an appointment Friday and they called Saturday to tell me they couldn't find my insurance. After I gave them my SS number I was told I was all set. An hour before my appointment they called again to say they couldn't find my insurance info and that I had to reschedule for Monday. I asked for a manager and suddenly they found my info and I was set. After I came in I heard the employees tell two other people the same thing about their insurance and told them to reschedule, This makes me feel like they were just trying to push people away so they didn't get too busy on a Sunday. Once I was in I got my exam right away and got my glasses after a short wait. I was also told that my insurance didn't cover scratch protection unless I purchased a warranty, when I told them that wasn't true the story changed and I got it free without the warranty. This place isn't bad but if anyone tells you they cant do something push back they tend to lie at first until you question it. I want to list my problems for others but all together it was a good experience and I will go back if I need glasses again.
Been to Sterling several times. Bought a pair of gucci frames, the gucci sticker off the side is peeling! The glasses are less than a year old. Took the glasses in for an adjustment and complained about the gucci sticker. The boulevard location told me I needed to go back to the downtown location where I purchased the glasses rather than just calling them to see if I had a warranty with sterling. I did not have a warranty so they recommended that I pay 40% of the original price of the glasses not the price I actually paid for the glasses to get both arms replaced. I've been wearing glasses since I was 13 and I have done way more damage in the past and was able to get an adjustment. They told me the glasses could not be adjusted and to come back on Monday when they could call gucci and order me a new arm for my glasses (295.00) I took my glasses to sears and they are fine! I still think gucci should replace the sticker yes gucci glasses from sterling are just a gucci stucker on walmart frames if you ask me!
I had an appointment at 1045am and did not get seen until 1145am, I was tested and the Doctor was great and very polite. Choosing the glasses is what made this experience poor, I was looking for something that my insurance will cover, I showed the worker my old frames and told her I wanted something similar and she said there is nothing like it, she did not even try to help me, I felt rushed and picked something I did not like because once I got tested I will order my frames online. I came to pick up my glasses and I tried them on and it felt weird and the worker said it was normal, my eyes needed to get adjusted. I said okay took them home and worn them all day and the prescription seems off, I can not wear them, so I am currently wearing my old broken prescription glasses. I called to have them provide me my old prescription because I wanted to order my frames online and they said NO. That I need to come in and the glasses can be adjusted.. Will be going back to get these glasses fixed but I don't think I will ever go to this location again.
I am only giving this two stars, because the optometrist was really nice. However the experienced was really soured by the more then rude customer service! The "lady" that was supposed to help us was so condescending and rude that I left the store absolutely astounded. First of all she never approached us while we were looking for glasses. Once we found the glasses for my son which we liked, she wanted to insist that they are too tight on his head (there was actually a space between his head and the frames). Then she wouldn't mention that they give a discount on the second pair of glasses (I was told that by the first lady, when we first came in). Only when I mentioned it did she apply the discount. When I gave her my card to pay, she turned it around and had to ask "if this was a rockstar signature". I am a 40 year old woman who came to get glasses with her son, so I really don't know what she meant with that comment. After that I asked her what the strength of his new glasses is and she told me that it is not too high. So I asked again what the strength or dioptrie is. She then snapped and asked me if I wanted her to write me a prescription. Again I did not understand that. All I wanted to know is how bad his eyes were. Eventually she gave me the numbers... It is only once we paid and left that I realized that she never offered anti-glare lenses etc. So all in all I regret spending my money there and will certainly never do so again.
My daughter has myopic degeneration and her vision is declining rapidly. Dr. Park was great she explained options that would help slow the deterioration of my daughters vision and was very detailed in her explanation....the staff on the other hand was lack luster. After we picked our frames a lady with a heavy accent measured me and pretty much pushed me out the door. I had to remind her to measure my daughter because she was getting glasses too. I explained to her that because my daughter's prescription was so high the doctor was submitting high index lenses to the insurance company. At that time she said "we don't do that because it takes too long", so I explained we did it before and she pretty much brushed me off and pushed me out the door. She also gave no information on what pharmacy Dr. Parker was sending the drops for my daughters condition to and gave no info if they were sending a prior authorization to the insurance company and pharmacy..... a week later I call back to be told again that I had to contact the insurance company and that nothing was ordered for my daughter and they were faxing me what I had to send to the insurance company, which I found super odd because isn't that YOUR JOB? ... upon calling the insurance company the representative was completely confused when I explained the situation. She said that requests like that ALWAYS have to be made by the doctor and the office and when asked what office she stated this wasn't the first time they've had this issue. After a week wasted and with no eye drops no new glasses I call the office and ask to speak to a manager. I don't know if she's a manager but maybe she should be... I spoke with Joanne about the situation explained my frustration about not being serviced by a service provider. She faxed the paperwork for my daughter to the insurance and said she would have Dr. Park call me about the drops. I don't understand why that was so difficult for ANYONE ELSE WHO WORKS THERE to do. Its appalling that because of the laziness of an employee the customer/ patient has to jump through hoops to get service. Not to mention someone with a serious condition. Will not be going back next year.
We just dropped in (to the Niagara Falls Blvd. Tonawanda store) because we were in the neighborhood and Sophia was very professional and went overboard and was great!
Terrible customer service... Very unhelpful this is just a one time place for me never again!
I love my new pair of glasses. A special thank you goes to Sophia B who assisted me throughout my appointment and made sure I chose the perfect fit just for me! This was my first time ever at this Sterling Optical location and it definitely won’t be my last!
Customer service is terrible. Not helpful at all and very rude! Also was rude and snippy with my insurance company.
I dont know about these reviews. I saw them so this place was my last resort. Anyway, I went there and I was expecting bad expecting bad service but I was treated well. They are very welcoming and informative. Go there.
The associate there was very friendly and very helpful!
This company is committing fraud and should lose their license because they are not associated with Sterling Optical but has their title highly recommend using the Sterling Optical in @Buffalo New York.
I experienced a call with Sterling optical and they were extremely rude on the phone and they were very quick to hang up even though I had more questions.
One of the few places that accepts fidelis insurance. Thankful I can keep my kids up to date. Eye Dr is always so nice and personable. Office is clean. Friendly staff.
Horrible customer service and overpriced cheap glasses!!
They always mess up my prescription for my contacts and thank god I checked them before my job interview because I would have sent in with way too strong of contact lenses and that would have been a disaster. Don't know how you mess that up consistently all you have to do is look up my info and send in an order.
If I could give this place a 10 star I would. The staff is so helpful and genuinely go above and beyond. From the moment we were to the end they were phenomenal. The doctor was great.. Marzia took her time to teach us how to put the contacts with such patience. Thank you to all the staff here for making our experience amazing. I
After reading the reviews here I was concerned, after going I was really concerned. Great optician but, when I picked out the frames I wanted, they said my insurance wouldn't cover them and wouldn't let me pay the difference. (junk frames) The only up-grade I could get was tint on the lens for $20, I agreed to. I knew they would screw it up. No receipt or work order. When I went to pick up my new glasses they said I would have to wait an hour to get them tinted, I've already waited 3 weeks. Where does the confusion come from? One star? I left with no tint on cheap glasses. A lot of 1 star ratings.
I'm happy you guys are here
Service was so slow my appointment was at 1:00pm on a Saturday I didn’t get seen until 2:30pm. The dr was very apologetic and pleasant for me waiting but the staff seem so organized they kept knocking on door during my examination asking dr questions.i wouldn't recommend this location.
I also bought a groupon. Free eye exam and $200 towards frames and lenses. This groupon was for my 12 yr old son. They would only let me pick frames that were $199 (not the kid frames) and wanted to charge me $178.95 for lenses. When I refused, they insisted I needed to pay for eye exam because they could not break up groupon. Tried to break down fees to staff, $79 exam, $200 frame and $179.95 for lenses. Who pays $460 for a pair of kids glasses??? The staff was rude and unhelpful. I am out the $55 for groupon and $79 for eye exam..
The customer service at this location sucks. I have a pair of glasses on order for my daughter. The lady at the register was talking so fast I thought she was auctioning off the glasses. I have been coming here for years, this will be my last trip.
Worst eye experience ever! The people were rude. Over an hour late to be seen even though I had an appointment. Three weeks we have been waiting for our daughters glasses to arrive they gave one lens. What horrible service. She's been wearing glasses for almost 22 years never have we waited so long!
Very friendly and helpful staff
I have stopped in a couple of times to have my daughter’s glasses tightened/adjusted with no issues. They adjusted the glasses quickly and free of charge.
Go somewhere else. I asked repeatedly and from a variety of different angles for Dr. Honeyman to explain the difference between the new prescription he was giving me and my old one. He wouldn't do it. He's an eye doctor, so I know he's capable of providing such an explanation. I also think the glasses I received on my previous visit (not the most recent one) were not filled with the correct prescription, as the result of a clerical error. After going here for many years, I'm never going back.
Sadly, the ability to provide and execute reliable business remains to be seen. The phone service is not effective. Nobody can process an order or call you back w info. System lines do not seem reliable ever. A week later and still no follow up. Besides a vry precise and excellent exam , the conclusion on the product remains a mystery. Cost was not reasonable and details of helpful knowledge is at a loss . It's a long road to achieving the basics for Sterlings missing vision incomplete ' care ' .
Advised that it would take two weeks to get my glasses back from my insurance company. After speaking with the insurance company the glasses were not sent to them for a week after my purchase. I called sterling numerous times to check The status of my glasses and was never offered an explanation. I asked how could I get a refund and was told they didn’t know I would have to call back for a manager.
i give a 5 star rating they are all very polite and the doctor was great
