I searched everywhere for a small game non resident license and this was the only place that had one. They also carry Sitka gear, which is rare on the island. Good selection for a smallish store. Friendly helpful staff.

Hunting and fishing gear for the beginner to the seasoned outdoorsman can be found at OP. With quality brands like Mathews Archery, Sitka, Simms and Loop Tackle they are a true specialty shop. Sold and serviced by folk who get out in it. For me OP stands for outfitting people...don't mind the trolls.

I just want to say a huge thanks to Matt and the staff at OP! My husband asked for hip waders for his birthday and I was blank, my knowledge was nil! I felt going to Canadian Tire or a generic sport store would have me faced with a summer student who knew probably as little as I did about what to buy. Matt explained the several choices I had and educated me about what my best choice was for what my husband needed. I was able to surprise hubby with a gift I researched and felt confident in buying without him having to go get his own birthday present. That made the gift mean that much more in my opinion! Thank you so so much, Matt! you were superb! (See you in 2020 for that wedding cake!)

I visited this store today with the intent of just looking what was available for wading boots. I walked in and I was pleasantly greated and asked if I need assistance. The young man showed me to the wading bootsand patiently explained to me the differences between each. No attitude, no frowns, just a fellow angler who seemed to actually be interested in getting me into a pair of boots that's right for me within my budget. We chatted for a bit and I mentioned to him I may be looking at a new rod in the future when I could afford it. He started showing me all the rods knowing it was likely I wouldn't be buying, again, he just wanted to show me products I may like, and I ended up buying the rod anyway as he got me into a Loop rod within my budget. This store should be the flagship for customer service everywhere. I'm glad to see there are still young people that take pride in product knowledge and pairing equipment to the user. Prices were also good. OP Fishing and Hunting is the only place anyone should go when in St John's when looking for outdoor goods. Chris Wessel

I like this store small but runs of hunting gear. If your into fishing this store has all the top of the line gear for you. I am always met with a hello and help is always there when you need it. The hunting clothing is top of the line and not cheap but is some of the best you will buy. I do recommend this store.

The nice guy on the desk started telling me about this new product they had in (coffee) and he proceeded to make me one while my husband shopped. The staff at op are always great ! I purchased a shotgun based on their 'free shipping policy' which didn't apply to heavy items and ammo. Their policy clearly states you will be notified if free shipping does not apply. Well they charged me for shipping and sent my item. Within an hour I contacted them to dispute it. Although they were very prompt and polite and apologetic, they would not refund my shipping fees and there are no refunds so I can't even cancel my order. They went so far as to correct their website policy afterwards so as not to confuse future customers...that doesn't do me any good. Polite staff.. but shady business practices.
