I went to see Dr. Petreman a few months back. Best choice I have ever made. The last optometrist I saw simply didn't listen to me and I had years of struggle with my sight. Dr. Petreman was attentive, took all the time needed to diagnose my eyes and listened to my concerns. After I got my new glasses my eyes were instantly happier! Whether you buy glasses at his shop or not you certainly won't regret seeing Dr. Petreman.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jesse Petreman since 2011 and have had excellent eye care. He was the optometrist who first caught the beginnings of glaucoma in my left eye when it was barely detectable. I find him to be very thorough, professional and caring. He takes the time he needs to provide an exam. His office is up to date with all the necessary equipment to help him "see the whole picture." My partner and my Mom also are very please with the eye care we get from Origins Clinic. The staff are very helpful, pleasant and well qualified to meet my other eye care needs.

I really appreciate the attention to detail which starts with the aesthetic of the storefront, with sliding mirrors revealing other frames; that along with the additional selection of frames in drawers all along the displayed frames made the experience of really seeing the features of each frame much more pleasant. The flow of my appointment with Dr. Petreman was also great and felt very thorough, in fact Origin Optometry was suggested to me by a colleague who was impressed with her eye exam, stating that it was the most thorough she had ever had. The technology as well as the the Dr. working with an assistant to collect data so that he can focus his attention on the client, was particularly impressive, and suggests to me that the business is 100% client focused, on providing an easy experience through something that isn’t always the most comfortable. I was truly impressed with the customer focus of the entire staff, and walked without with feeling pressured to buy frames there (perhaps other comments on here have helped with a softer approach); in fact I found it to be the perfect balance of being helped without feeling pressured. That being said, I will likely return to Origin for frames, as I really enjoyed the selection from funky to trendy to a nice fit. Well done, one of my more pleasant and memorable experiences with optometry, I haven’t checked my eyes in years cus I dread it so much.

When I first went into the store the service was excellent from Jodi! Yes , because I have purchased 2 frames total cost of $ 3200.00 This was back in January 2020. Now we are in March and the frames are still not Completed yet! Last Saturday I picked up my second pair and within 1 hour I have returned to the store, because my frame was damaged!! THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING! Jodi was hiding in the back would not come out to talk to me!! Today March 18th I have called her but she would not talk on the phone! I have returned to the store and the girl at the front desk alerted her that I was there, so she would not come out to talk to me!!! I have sent an email to the owner Jesse Petreman but so far there is no reply!!! Very poor service!!!!

The doctor seems very knowledgeable, but I just hate the hard sell during and after every appointment. While we waited for pupils to dilate after the drops, we could hear the doctor whispering to the receptionist what to try to sell us on. Then she's showing us glasses and following us around the whole time. After the appointment, more trying to convince us to choose a pair of glasses. I had to ask twice for my prescription.. at first I was told it takes a long time for it to be loaded into the system and I said I'll wait, then magically it was there already. I think they just didn't want me to take the prescription elsewhere. If they could do the eye exam without the hard sell and upselling on unnecessary features, I would go back. We have 4 in our family, so going through this each time was too much. We went to a different optician and they chuckled when we told them about origin because they had heard the same from others..

I had never worn contacts in my life, but at 60 years old I was tired of being a slave to my ‘readers’ and motivated to try multi-focal contact lenses. I was, however, worried about adjusting to them. But following a state-of-the-art eye exam with Dr. Petreman, the front-end team patiently helped me master the process of inserting and removing the lenses. Now I can miraculously read the tiniest font on my phone. No more ransacking the house in search of glasses — I feel ten years younger! Beautiful, bright store with tons of frames and sunglasses too. Friendly, professional staff and service… highly recommend.

Prices are high for examination services when compared to others. I did not need any glasses so I cannot speak to those prices. Expensive new location has to be paid for. When I questioned about the rate being charged, I was informed that I should not consider it too much to pay for my eye health. At that point, I was no longer interested in their services and shopped around.

I own a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses from them that I absolutely love. The facility is a bright beautiful high end place with all the amenities you would want.

My family and I have been using Dr. Henderson as our optometrist for a couple of years now, and we couldn't be happier with our services. My wife and I never used optometrists growing up, but now being in our mid 30's we realized we needed to find one. She was knowledgeable, very personable, and easy to get along with and down to earth. We were even more impressed with how she conducted our young children's eye exams, as neither of them really cared for the idea. It made it an enjoyable 1st experience for them, and there is no fear of going back for their annual exams now. To anyone looking for an optometrist in Nanaimo, I suggest Dr. Henderson, you won't be disappointed!

Origin/Dr. Petreman's first priority is money, your care is second. Since they have moved to their new, upscale location, it seems worse. My senior mother on a fixed income was sold overpriced glasses that made her eyes feel worse. Another doctor since then has said she was given an incorrect prescription. One of the employees flippantly said my mother had the beginning of glaucoma, which was untrue, and she worrying waited, until Dr. Petreman had the time to contact my mother to correct his employee. Overall, I would say a few of the employees are nice, but most of them are snotty. This business also randomly sets up appointments for you via email, without your consent, and you have to contact them to cancel, or reschedule. I had to intervene on behalf of my mother, to get the automatic emails unsubscribed to, which meant I had to phone the business multiple times, because using the unsubscribe button did not work.

Origin Optometry 's Dr. Jesse Petreman was exceptional. His staff is superb, his equipment is modern and efficient and, most importantly, his technical ability to measure my needs was stunningly clear (pun intended). Given my very recent poor experiences, this was a breath of fresh air and I have found my all important go-to-guy for my eye care. Origin Optometry and Dr. J P are a 10 out of 10 = BOOYA !!!!!
