The owner was wonderful, he helped us with our frame selection and recommended the color for our transitions lenses that look great in the frames. I was very impressed with the time he spent and the attention he gave. Our new glasses are fabulous!

I had heard good things about this place beforehand, so my experience here was a disappointment. Gayle was the one who served me while I was here to get my glasses fixed and it was no doubt one of the more uncomfortable experiences I've had in months. The behavior was off putting, as I got the feeling she was incredibly uncomfortable and defensive for no apparent reason I could see during our business. I felt like I was being rushed when I tried to explain with my glasses which felt startling considering how she seemed to take her time with some of the other customers I saw in the store during the time I was there. The only good thing I can say about the service, was that I got my glasses back fairly quickly but I won't be returning here after that experienced soured my perception of this business, nor will my family either.

Despite having worn glasses for over sixty years, recently I found it very difficult to make a decision on which glasses to buy, but more important, where to buy them. This is partly due to the huge amount of new products available in High Index Progressive lens designs, but mostly because many of the dispensaries seem to push products that they want to sell, and not necessary what the customer wants or needs. Although I would never try to second guess a professional optician, I do feel quite qualified to recognize a dispenser who simply wants to sell the product that will create the highest profit for them, as opposed to satisfying a customers needs. For years i was lead to believe that one hour dispensaries should be avoided because their margin of errors was presumably greater than that of a regular optical dispensary, however I also realize that there are exceptions to every rule. Being disillusioned with the dispensaries that charge exorbitant prices, rely on high-pressure tactics, slick advertising, and employ good looking young ladies who know very little about the products that they sell, I reluctantly went to Nanaimo 1Hour Optical. I was surprised that their prices were excellent. The staff were very pleasant to deal with, they have a good knowledge of the products and they encouraged me to take several frames home before deciding on which frame to buy. Still somewhat skeptical, I came back several times before making a decision to buy. The primary test came when the first pair of glasses were not quite what i had expected. Once again I was surprised that the lenses were quickly replaced without hesitation or additional cost. By the time I had dealt with the owner Payam,his father Mosh,and Gayle, all of whom bent over backwards to provide me with the glasses that suited my needs rather than their own. They all displayed a high degree of professionalism, honesty, and customer service that seems to be quite rare in most businesses today. I therefore strongly recommend Nanaimo 1Hour Optical because they go that extra mile to provide the customer satisfaction that puts them head and shoulders above the rest. Sicerely Brian Kabaluk

I would highly recommend Nanaimo 1 Hour Optical for children through to seniors. Payam and Gayle spent all the time needed to find the right fit and price range for me. I work in emergency services and need durable high quality glasses to perform tasks day/night. I was also able to find sun glasses for my children and take a proactive approach to protecting their eyes. The customer service and value was excellent and I will most definitely be back!!! Went their to get 2 pairs of sunglasses repaired did it free of charge and was very fast also added the lenses that was needed for the repair after all said and done gave a killer deal on pair of candy sunglasses included with a case has a awesome selection and is very friendly and willing to go above and beyond for their customers!!! So I went here based on there reviews because I needed glasses and the fact I needed my glasses right away . So I have had my glasses for 2 months now and they are the worst glasses I have ever had . I took them back because after 2 months I have a chip in one lens I drove from out of town just for them to clean my glasses basically and hand the back saying there was nothing they could do for me even tho I have a useless 2 year warranty ........ I would not recommend shopping here

My son needed a pair of glasses fast as we did not have a spare. We also come from Gabriola so not the easiest to just drop in. We had excellent friendly service and new glasses in an hour!
