I have been through this location many times and never felt like the staff really care to help you. The staff in the suit department are great but anywhere else you feel like you're just bothering them. The prices are good if you go when stuff is on sale. I keep trying to make it work because it's part of Canadian heritage but unfortunately for them, people want service and to feel welcome.

If you're not interested in the long story: essentially, took 1 month and 3 weeks to get my couch (if it even shows up this time) I am absolutely horrified by my experience with Hudson's Bay. I bought a sectional which I had to quickly return as it did not fit the door into my apartment. The man working in the furniture section at Rideau told me to call customer service and see what they said. They said since it was same-day, I could have a 100% refund. The man then said I could only have an 80% refund regardless of what customer service said and considering the price, my only real option was to do an exchange for a different sectional which was fine. He says it'll take a month before my new sectional is delivered - again, fine. What's not fine is a day before the scheduled delivery, I got a call saying my delivery was cancelled and no reason was given. I called customer service and they were totally clueless. So the next day I leave the apartment and while I'm out I get a call saying the delivery is on its way, so I head home. Only half of my sectional shows up and I was not given a reason why. I called customer service 6 times over the course of a couple weeks and emailed once (the contact us form on their website doesn't work by the way) and every person said they'd look into it and call me back. I'd wait a couple days and after not getting a call back any one of the times, I'd call again. Last night I called for the seventh time and finally someone rescheduled delivery for this Friday. Then I got a voicemail today saying it was pushed until next Tuesday because it was "out of stock." As of next Tuesday it will have been 1 month and 3 weeks since I bought the couch and I will have had to take 2 days off of work. Only tonight with my eighth call to customer service have they mentioned the "potential" for small compensation, but I'll have to call back next week apparently to have that conversation. NEVER AGAIN.

Very lousy customer service. I went to pay for an umbrella for my husband, and at the first service register, the guy walked away to the back just as soon as I was approaching him to pay. I walked over to the next register, and there was nobody there. I then walked to the other section of the menswear, where the suiting was, and one employee was at the register looking deeply into his phone while holding the store's phone handle up to his ear. Needless to say, he didn't even look up to acknowledge me. I walked over to where the ties were, and of course nobody at the register there either! Nobody was even working on the floor. I found one lady, but she was in such a hurry to go to the back. This was a Tuesday, and the store wasn't busy. By now, at least 10 minutes have gone by, and I am STILL holding this stupid umbrella! I continued to walk around, but not a bloody employee in sight. So I just dropped the umbrella on the table and left the store. Unbelievable. It was a confirmation that I will never return to The Bay again. Nordstrom will get my business; it is a store from my home country, which knows a thing or two about good customer service.

The customer services cannot solve a problem, specially the manager in womens section i returned 2 items but only 1 item incoded which i did not noticed unfortunately I choose not to take the receipt because my child was crying that time i hurry to go, i call many times after i noticed the money returned in my account was not enough and i even come and see the cahiers or customer service but again they cant resolve the problem i provuded my order number even a copy which some money retuned...the issue reach the manager and the manager call me says that she can do nothing and i said i go see the cashers i can recognize her and ask for sure she will remember me because its not long ng ago, and she said no dont go and threat/harassed my employee shes like protecting her employee even have something wrong i never say harrased her.

This highly neglected building has become an eyesore in and out. They are undergoing an interior renovation, which will help. The Bay always has great sales, and this location has a decent selection although it doesn't compare to flagship Bay store in other large Canadian cities. I usually have trouble attracting service in most departments in this location.

Bought a box of chocolates online, and the case was broken. I took a picture of the damaged box on the day I received it. The damage on the hard shell plastic box was so big , there's no way someone's hands could have done that. It was also packaged really well so it wasn't a matter of Canada Post jostling it around. It definitely came broken like something heavy fell on it in the warehouse. It says to go into the store to return or exchange it if the item isn't satisfactory. So I do, well within the day limit. They refuse to refund, exchange, or even give store credit, saying you can't do anything with food items. Well news flash, nowhere in the return policy does it say anything about food items being final sale, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. This corporation is never getting my business again unless this is somehow remediated. I will be calling, emailing, and posting on all social media sites.

Huge store with tonnes of deals to be had so we spent way more than. We planned to. Service was excellent in the men's shoes Dept except they forgot to remove security tags. Easy mistake and customer service got them off so we could leave comfortably.

I bought two pairs of glasses last year from Bay Opticals, had the worst experience of my life, took them back, they were not happy to do anything about the issue at first, r Than finally, they kept the glasses there for well over a month, and problem stayed, I will never go back there and will never refer anyone ever!!!! Trying to get any sort of service in this store is a nightmare. Typically the only time I've gotten any sort of acknowledgement is when I'm ready to pay at the cash. However even then, many employees seem uninterested in processing a transaction, one girl directed me to the other side of the store to another register. The Bay sells good products, but when the vast majority of their employees make their customers feel like an inconvenience, it's not an experience worth repeating.

I received excellent, professional customer service from Samra in the show Department. She dealt with a crowd very effectively and with a smile on her face and was extremely helpful in bringing shoes to me she thought I would like. She also versed me in the sales. A very good salesperson because I bought 5 pairs!

Husband & I went downtown to the Market . While there we decided to go to the Rideau Centre . So we were going through the Bay to get there. Upon entering the Bay from the Market side , we were surprised on the new look ! In short we spent time there walking around and taking in the new look. I have not been there in a few years. I use to work in the old rundown dirty looking Bay . This is a great new look !!! We will be back a lot more often . I read some previous reviews and was laughing . Too Expensive ? Have you looked in Nordstrom and or other new stores in the Rideau. The way I see it is , there are many choices of what people are looking for . If you are seeking clothes for cheaper prices well thats what you get and there are many stores for you to shop at . But if you are looking for well made clothes at a good price the Bay fits this criteria !! In short , The Bay has changed for the better . Are there things that need to be addressed , of coarse ! Staff is sparse at times but I like that I can look around and not be bothered by a store that is overly staffed . I like clean stores and this is better than the OLD BAY . AllI can say is that change will upset some but welcome more ;) Just my thoughts !! No need to reply cause I don't care what you think :)

when you're actually there the customer is great, helpful and friendly. BUT its impossible to get a hold on somebody when you're calling. this is super frustrating, the stuff you're buying there is pretty expensive, so if you have any questions or concerns you better have it while being around. otherwise you can forget about any help as soon as you're out if the door. very disappointing! I've been calling now multiple times for a few days for a warranty related concern (a still warranty covered product is broken and I would like to talk to someone about the procedure) and I can't reach anyone, regardless if i call the department, the department manager or the store manager.

I am a regular shopper at Hudson Bay. The customer service is always fantastic! Last time I went in to buy shoes and the sales associate was so helpful, I had to flag down a manager to tell her how well the sales associate performed. Today I had a completely different experience at the Hudson Bay Store at Rideau Center. I was there today 14th June 8.15 pm. I was looking to buy dress shirts and a tie. Every time I ask for a shirt or a different color tie. The sales associate rudely point to where they are kept and tells me to help myself. I finally find a shirt I like and go up to the cash to buy it. The shirt had a few stains on it, I politely ask the sales associate, Liana I believe, to get me a new one. She tells me go look for one as she is really busy. She doesn't apologize for the stain or make any attempt to look for another shirt. She justifies by stating she is really busy today. What she does next is why I am writing this email. A Caucasian couple passes by, the sales associate rushes to help them. Asking them what size they are looking for and getting the item for them. I was hurt,I never expected to face this kind of subtle racism at Hudsons Bay.

I have never had a good experience at this Hudson Bay. This visit we waited 10 minutes for a shoe department sales assistant to come from the back room, even after calling to the back for help and even walking partway to the back room and calling. While I went to another department to ask that sales assistant if they could get someone to help me (and the 3 other customers also waiting to be helped). As she went to find the department manager someone finally came to help us, but was still extremely rude. The time before this I was treated as a second class citizen simply because I was wearing a tshirt. I will never shop at this Hudson Bay again.

Visited recently the store in Ottawa, Rideau st. In short customer service very poor. They posted the wrong price sign on a men's shirt rack. The manager tries to convince me that I am wrong, because I was not reading the small print on the sign, but at the same time holds the sign in her hands saying that someone put it there by mistake. What hypocrisy. E mailed the customer service. The lady said that she will forward to the store and ask the manager to address the situation. A month later, no response. No surprise. Not sure do some of these "managers" know what Customer Service even means? I normally do all my Christmas shopping in the Bay. No more. Not that one person makes much of a difference, but I will not support this mentality. Miss the old Bay.

Between finding parking and finding a staff member to help me it took 45 minutes, only to tell me that the sunglasses advertised in their weekly flyer are not available at this location, since they have a Sunglasses Hut there. There are other little companies inside, like Kiehls and Sak's off fifth, so I'm not sure what else you wouldn't be able to find at this location. It was annoying to experience that.
