It was easy to get an appointment, the optometrist Karim was professional and provided great explanations. Clinic was clean, covid protocol is great, bathrooms are impeccable. I was able to get the same day appointment. The clinic seems to have the best equipment. I noticed that PD parameter was missing in my prescription so I asked for it but I was told that it won't be possible to get it. I believe that that they don't have the obligation to provide it and Order of optometrists of Quebec publicly suggests NOT to provide this information to patients. Clearly they are protecting interests of their members from online shops. We as customers need to stand for what is best for us. So I suggest you look elsewhere for your eye check-up and ask before the exam to ensure you'll get a full prescription. BTW, there are phone applications that ask you to take your photo while holding any plastic card to your forehead and can measure your PD this way. It's not ideal but might be good enough. UPD: It's been a month. I got my glasses delivered from an online shop. The same model I tried at the clinic and I paid at least two times less. I have no complaints, they fit well, they look great, I can see well. Before buying online I spoke with a supervisor and actually went back to VU with an intention to buy from them as I figured that anyway my purchase will be covered by my private insurance. However, I couldn't stand their explanations so I had to walk away. Let me start from the beginning. So the reason why they say that they don't have the pupils distance after extensive tests they performed during my first visit is because the tests were performed by an optometrist (and a nurse). However, PD is measured by a different professional, an optician, who's task is to make sure your glasses fit well. Even if this has to be this way, the measurement that optician does takes 2 minutes tops. I spent I think around 2 hours at the clinic. Tests were performed on equipment in different rooms so just another test done by an optician wouldn't add too much time to the procedure. And also I doubt that computer equipment is advanced enough to check the surface of the retina but incapable of measuring the distance between your eyes. An optometrist during the first visit actually put test glasses on me and I could see PERFECTLY, so either he knew my PD and configured these glasses accordingly or he didn't know it and it didn't matter. And you're wrong if you think that optician uses some advanced equipment to measure PD. Here is what they do. They ask you to put on dummy glasses with a ruler attached on top of them and snap a photo with IPAD. Then an application on the IPAD does the math. So it's pretty similar to what you can do at home with a free smartphone application (please don't take it as a medical advice!). Optician didn't want to tell me my PD that was about to be measured by an IPAD. He was ok to tell me "an approximate number". I didn't need an approximate number as I already knew that my PD was either 60.5 or 61mm as this is what my smartphone application was saying. I needed an exact number that their supposedly more advanced system can measure. Then I tried to approach it from another angle. I asked that if I'm going to move to another province in a week and my glasses brake, does it mean that I'll have to measure my PD again? I was told that no and my new optician can simply call VU to get my PD. I was curious to know if they were going to tell him an "approximate" number or an exact number. And if it was an exact number maybe they could just tell me what it is to save me from the hassle. And the answer to this was that I need to understand that "everything has a price". And maybe if I pay some extra fee they can accommodate my request but it's not certain. Here is another argument. Provincial government regulations in British Columbia were changed in 2010 to ensure that the pupil-distance (PD) measurement is included in every prescription. This is what need to happen in Quebec to stop this abuse.

The space is beautiful, wonderful layout and great selection. They have several brands and models of frames to choose from. I did not get my eye exam done here, but my experience for shopping frames wasn’t the best. Opticien is quite pushy and not truly listening to what i was looking for. Pricing is high compared to competitors offering the exact same frames for a very simple prescription. I was not looking for, not do I need, a very complex lens, but pricing for a frame and lens was close to double what I found at a local competitors shop. It’s a beautiful store, but doesn’t quite respond to everyone’s need.

I attempted to make an online purchase. The website took my order and the day after making my purchase I called the store to follow up on my purchase to ensure that the payment went through. I spoke to a sales associate who directed me to call back on Monday (made the purchase Thursday) as the manager who takes care of the online orders will be back working. The website says there is a 4 day expedited shipping (business days I'm assuming). The manager told me that it takes a couple of days since it was a holiday and that the order will go through once she accepts it and then a tracking will be sent to my email. It isn't until a week later after I emailed the store once again that I get a response two days after saying that "somehow" my 2 sunglasses that I ordered have been sold because they were on sale. They asked for my understanding which I gave because I also work in retail management. THEN I asked the manager if she can put on hold two other sunglasses in that case, and if she had it then I would purchase them immediately. She said she would look and never got back to me. The manager that I was dealing with was Marie Phillip Lebel. It goes without saying that I'm unhappy with the level of customer service I received from this establishment.

The front desk staff at Vu was beyond amazing, paid attention to what I wanted and gave their opinion on what would look good on me. Truly great customer service. What wasn't great was the optician ( I don't remember her name but I do remember her unflattering green highlights). Had three glasses that I kept out of the five that was in my tray and wished to get priced. She examined the first pair stating that I wouldn't be able to have a normal lens due to the frame being to big. I’ve never heard of that before but left the decision to the specialist. She mentioned that I would need to go with the Nixon lens which is 250$ instead of 145$ for regular lens. Proceeded to the estimate for the second frame and stated the same exact thing.. The third pair was a pair of sunglasses that I wanted to put my prescription lens in, she said " It would probably be the same thing as the previous ones and only the Nikon lens would fit." I do not have a very complexe prescription. Clearly could see where this was going this was simply about making a sale and banking in on unsuspecting clients. I may not hold the knowledge of what an optician knows, but I can tell the difference from when I'm being fed false information. A one on one talk will do her some good...be honest with your clients instead of just trying to make another commission. People like her will make you lose customers. This issue needs to be addressed. A sale was lost that day. I found the same frames at a competitors and no specialty lenses were needed, simply what I asked for.
