To this day this firm has a score of 2.1 stars over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 8 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite scarce, and it is founded on a more or less high of reviews, so the valuation is quite reliable, although it doesn't have a very high amount of ratings to give it absolute reliability.
You know that we do not usually bother to set tatings when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Optics Shop is included in the category of Optician.
(Translated) I took an appointment over the phone and when I got there the person hadn't put my rv on the system. I wasted all of my time and they didn't assist me. Zero stars. (Original) J’ai pris une rv par téléphone et quand je suis arrivé la personne n’avait pas mit mon rv sur le système. J’ai perdu tout mon temps et ils ne m'ont pas assisté. Zéro étoiles.
I'm not sure why this place has such low reviews; Dr. Dippel and the technician, Jennifer, were both some of the most professional and pleasant people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Dr. Dippel is very knowledgable and explained everything thoroughly, and I never felt rushed even when I asked a bunch of questions. Would highly recommend; won't be going anywhere else for eye appointments!
If I cold give the receptionists 0 stars, that’d be a gift for her awful customer service. I had an appointment at 11:00 AM and showed up at 11:10, called more than 6 times before and after I arrived, but they never answered. I sent an email and kept calling until she answered. Very calmly she said, “oh I marked you as a no show, and we can reschedule as our next 2 patients are already here.” This booking system is terrible and their lack of empathy towards their clients can’t be more aggressive. Please avoid yourself a headache and find another optometrist.
I went to the vision center today before shopping at Costco, and was told I needed my prescription in hand. Luckily I got my examination at this location and Jessica was nice enough to get it from the doctor and begin to help me choose frames. Her professionalism and helpfulness didn’t stop there: she answered all of my questions, guided me to logical choices, and patiently waited while I browsed and walked me through checkout and purchase. I’ll wait to see how long the wait for my glasses turns out to be, and how good the finished product is, but my experience today was nothing but positive and even enjoyable. Thanks again Jessica!!
I left my keys at work, went back and forth, drove to Costco during rush hour traffic, and was a few minutes late to my appointment. They refused to see me despite being their last appointment if the day. The shrewd optometrist loomed about as if she was enjoying my dismay. I remained calm, and the receptionist offered to call if someone else cancelled. The one star is for the receptionist.
(Translated) Their organization and coordination need to be reviewed. Optometrists are scarce and unreliable (it has often happened that my appointments have been canceled at the last minute). (Original) Leur organisation et leur coordination sont à revoir. Les optométristes sont peu disponibles et piètre fiabilité (il est souvent arrivé que l'on annule mes rendez-vous à la dernière minute).
Never in a million years will I give them my business again. Never had a good experience actually. 2 weeks ago came in, no one there but a middle aged short man of Indian descent. Waited a good 5 minutes with zero response. Wouldn't even acknowledge me. I left. Today: 1)4-5 people in their area, one finally came to help and immediately asked for my prescription BC you're not allowed in unless you have one. I told her my husband has a script too but doesn't have it with him. She said nothing to this. 2) asks me all the covid questions, can barely hear her as she's a solid 8 feet from me. Finally I understand she needs to give me sanitizer. Gives me a bin and says glasses go in the bin after and you can't remove you mask. Clearly this means removing your mask. Little did I know I'm supposed to make a 500 dollar purchase and not put my mask down for 5 seconds for his opinion. When I did this I was called out infront of everyone to put my mask back on as it's mandated but other places may not be. You've got to be kidding me. I said well I'm not buying glasses without actually seeing how they look on me! Dropped the bin and walked out. You're telling me you can touch everything in Costco and remove your mask to eat the free samples but I can't bring my mask down to get an opinion if something looks good on my face? Idiots. Rude, inconsiderate and not worth my time. No wonder why there is no one ever in the optical dept. The only reason you're still in business is BC it's Costco.
(Translated) A whole story to enforce a guarantee! The customer is seen as a culprit, even if the problem is with the product. (Original) Toute une histoire pour faire respecter une garantie! Le client est considéré comme un coupable, même si le problème vient du produit.
The optometrist at Costco who checked out my eyes was full of information and even showed me my scans. The most important thing from this experience for me was the communication/information. A great place to get your eyes examined.
A loyal Costco shopper for 20+ years, my first experience with Costco optical was not without its issues. I had read the negative reviews, but wanted to give it a try. Had to wait over 20 mins inside the store to reach counter for appointment. No other way to check in on arrival. Previous history i had given was not on my file. A couple little hiccups. However, i have to give a massive shout out to JOFE, who listened to my concerns carefully, professionally and, in the end, found the perfect contact lens for my high maintenance eyeballs. Thx JOFE!
Excellent experience here! Dr. Feng and the receptionist were both very kind and answered all of my questions. Thanks so much!
The optometrist is fantastic. Some of the best equipment in the city for testing your eyes. You get fitted for contacts which is great. Selection of frames is limited. The only down side it’s in the lest accessible Costco in the city with horrid staff.
Absolutely the worse customer service possible. Customers wait 45/50 minutes for service while employees are walking around cleaning countertops. Simple pathetic and don’t care about the customer experience
The woman on cash today was extremely rude to us
Very friendly staff and the service couldn’t be better
(Translated) I asked to redo me reading glasses on the basis of a prescription already existing in my file, because I broke my glasses, I am told that the prescription has expired and it is necessary to carry out a new examination of the view. I find it unacceptable to pay $ 100 for another exam when my eyesight has not changed, it's theft ????
The absolute worst possible place you can go to get glasses or contacts. My story is so long I can't even type it here. Short story. Prescription ran out 2 days ago. Needed lenses for sports the coming weekend. Wouldn't sell them to me. Told me to book an appointment. Called. 3 months til I can get an appointment. They can't selle anything without valid prescription. Called another place explained my situation. No problem. Fast forward to today I take the prescription in there and he says " has your son been fitted here?" I say no. He says sorry I can't sell them to you until he gets fitted here. Holy ????. Anyways I will never ever buy anything from that place again!
I was 11 minutes late when I went for the first time and was told I would need to reschedule. That's understandable as it's over 10 minutes. My wife was 7 minutes late more recently due to construction and they refused to see her. Traffic, life and covid happens especially when you're from out of town and have a long drive. Being this strict with timing is unacceptable when people need to take time off work, cancel meetings and handle work emergencies in real time. To be scolded for punctuality is hard to believe but they love it here. Otherwise I felt rushed when I rescheduled and came in on time the second time around. Won't ever go back.
If you need eyewear, Costco Optical is the place to go. I specifically like dealing with Sheena... she's the best. She's friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I would not buy my eyewear anywhere else.
Horrible experience with the Receptionist I was a few minutes late I called told her I was at the door she seems annoyed i was late I understand but she said well we're going to have to do this fast because it's going to make are whole day behind once I sat done she wasn't friendly she made me so comfortable I had my contacts in and she told me I would have to take them out in this room but I can't put them back in while I'm in the office because they don't deal with contacts so I went to the bathroom to put them on which I have horrible vision thankfully I got to the bathroom safe....my experience with the eye doctor was nice no complaints she was great
When I recieved my phone call to come pick up my trial pair of lenses I was not told that they are not teaching ppl how to put them in. I spent forever trying to get them in. I couldnt get any help what so ever. I wish they had have told me this before coming in. I would have watched some YouTube videos before hand. Now I have to wait till they start teaching ppl how to put them in before I can even order a pair. Im just gonna call around and try to find an optometrist who will help. The problem I was having was the conact lens was sticking to my finger and wouldnt come off when I put the lens in. When I got fed up and tried to get help there was no one around. I ended up leaving.
Excellent service
With my prescription in hand they were unwilling to even talk to me about buying contact lenses without me first succumbing to their "need to do an exam". Go somewhere reputable and stay away from the Costco vision center.
Great place
Unfortunately had a bad experience with the older male doctor specifically. Felt very dismissed when I brought up concerns or questions and got the impression that he just wanted to get the appointment over with as soon as possible. The receptionist was nice and the lady that did my contacts appointment was lovely to talk to. But I won't be going back to that specific doctor again.
Customer service was very easy to talk to. Everyone was polite and respectful. My problem wasn't with the service, it was with the selection. They had very few sunglass option and even fewer that were prescription compatible. I'd like to see more options for men.
I love Costco, but my experience at their vision center really missed the mark. To start, I got an eye exam there. It was quite possibly the shortest eye exam I've ever received. I think I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. My experiences in the past (I've been wearing glasses for 25 years) are usually 15-30 minutes longer, minimum. My actual prescription was not great. I see worse with it than with glasses that use my old prescription. I also purchased glasses there and it's a very impersonal experience. I basically chose a pair, waited in line to have someone order them and picked them up later. There was no fitting or adjustment at pick-up. In the end I use my Costco glasses and Costco prescription for walking from the bathroom to the bedroom when I take out my contacts...that's about it. I wouldn't even drive using my Costco prescription. Hope your experience is better than mine!
(Translated) The very poor service of Mrs. Kim. (Original) Le service très mal de madame Kim.
The worst experience ever. They are not optometrists so when I took my prescription from my optometrist in to be filled, they need to check your eyes first before ordering and then check them again when contacts arrive ....what a waste of time. They are called license contact specialists ...but not optometrists so take the word of the optometrist and stop pretending you are more important than you are!!!!
Purchased glasses and frames and the frames failed, the right arm fell off and was not repairable 1 year after the 1 year warranty expired. Manufacturers defect. They told me to repurchase new glasses. My previous glasses lasted for 15 years???? Not happy!!
We visited the independent optometrist today for the second time. The doctor was so kind and courteous that he stayed longer for us during this busy holiday time. Our family so appreciates the care and extra mile :)
Best service, and professionalism to the max. My son lost his glasses on a road trip and Todd (the manager) was beyond helpful in helping my Son get his glasses before school starts. A big thank to Todd and all the staff!
Great service and very friendly
(Translated) Limited choice but unbeatable prices. (Original) Choix limité mais prix imbattables.
Talked me into getting a pair I wasn't interested in. Thought they would help fit them properly - mistaken. They are not there to ensure good fit. Took them home and experienced dizziness and wanting to vomit. They said I just have to wear them more often to get used to them. Never wore them. Checked with an actual professional. They made a mistake on the prescription. They inputted a 1 instead of a 0. But too late. Couldn't return or receive funds back. NEVER NEVER AGAIN.
I'm not one to complain about service at all but it seems they changed some staff and the new people there are incredibly rude no help at all. I recommend purchasing contacts from FYI doctors instead much more helpful and price matched costco for me.
(Translated) A lot of waiting, there is no point in making an appointment! Very bad service. He doesn't respect the meeting time! 1h30 of waiting. Wawww (Original) Beaucoup d’attente, ça sert à rien de prendre un rendez-vous! Très mauvais service. Il ne respecte pas l’heure de rendez-vous! 1h30 d’attente. Wawww
Terrible optometrists. Very rude. They don’t take responsibility for giving any information properly. They only want their fee with zero service. Guys avoid at all cost. Costco should review its Policy as optometrists at Costco Waterloo are ruining their brand name. I have used Costco Guelph optometrists and they are very kind and professional!
Had husband with me and wanted to pick out new glasses. Eye appt was scheduled with costco for 3 days later. They wouldnt even let me look at glasses until I had a prescription in hand. I explained that my husband was leaving for work and I wanted his opinion on the glasses but nope! You cant look. Theres better eyeglass stores in Sudbury!
This review is about Costco Optical and not about the optimetrist there (Dr. Phillip Boulos is an amazing eye doctor and he conducted my exam flawlessly, and even gave me valuable advice). My issue is with the eyeglasses I received was: the frames they provide are not very durable; the lens I had received from them had significant chromatic aberration; the placement of the glasses optical center is higher than usual that made even the slightest head movement cause a distortion; and the bottom 2 thirds of the lens were always distorted (papers were curved). This isn't a big issue, AFAIK Costco Optical's warranty covers that along adjustments. What annoyed me is the fact that the optician seemed annoyed at me for "not liking the glasses". After having explained the issues that I had with the glasses, he did not give me any options of "adjusting" nor "accommodate" me beyond measuring the "optical center" again, then saying "It's the same as before", then emphasized that the chromatic aberration is due to the anti-glare. But that contradicts the distortion that is evidence that the optical center is not proper. Instead of cross-checking with another colleague of his to verify whether a mistake has been made or not, he just measured the optical center in the same manner that he had done before. I asked him what options do we have, and he told me "You could refund it". Luckily, I did. After having had the eyeglasses returned and a refund processed, I asked if I can see a different frame so I can make another glasses - why else would I have a costco membership if I cannot benefit from it? - the optician said "If you make another one, there won't be a refund for it if it does not fit you". I rephrased what he asked and said "So, that means I'd be taking a risk by going for another pair of eyeglasses here?" and he said "Yes". I said thanks and I left. I am not going for that Costco Optical nor am I recommending Costco Optical, at least this branch, to anyone. The "refund policy" was not declared nor discussed prior my order, and I am skeptical of it being "If you refund one pair of eyeglasses, you will no longer receive refunds from Costco Optical", it sounded as a way of saying "You're an unhappy customer, I don't care about giving you a service that satisfies you, I don't want to deal with you again". I had decided to quietly leave and not escalate things out of respect to Dr. Boulos, for he had mentioned to the optician that I had a special case in terms of fitting and told him "If there is a problem with the glasses, don't worry, there won't be shouting and yelling at you". I am disappointed with the service provided by Costco Optical. The optimetrist did their part of the job, but the optician does not care about retaining customers. I had thought that the Costco Membership was a privilege, Costco Optical has shown otherwise. For those who have children who need glasses, I'd suggest staying away from Costco Optical - Children can't differentiate whether their glasses are "right" or not, misfitted eyeglasses can caused irreversible harm to them. I myself was a victim of such harm in the past during my childhood. Ultimately, this review is only an account of my experience with Costco Optical and my opinion that I do not trust them any longer. My opinion is one out of many others, so do not let it bias your decision.
The lady who answered the phone is rude. I’ll never go there for my eyeglasses
I recently experienced a great customer interaction recently with Stuart McAlpine. My new glass lenses were not providing decent vision. Stuart checked the Rx, re-checked the diopter, taking the time to assess the problem. He was efficient and pleasant. He is a stellar employee. I am most happy with my outcome!
I was extremely disappointed. The service was rude. Even though the pharmacy accepts third-party billing (i.e. will bill your insurer so you don't have to pay upfront, the optical department does not. I was told that it was difficult to set up. If they already do it in one department, how difficult can it really be to set it up in a second? I will not be renewing my membership.
I am very disgusted and disappointed with the service that I received from the tire shop and from the management in the store. I had an appointment to get my tires put on and called in the morning to confirm and see if there was going to be a wait. Not only did they not answer the phone but they never returned my call. When I arrived at my appointment time they said they were behind and there would be a 2 1/2 hour wait. If I had known I would have made arrangements for a friend to meet me and go for coffee. I felt they didn't respect me or my time.????
Haven't purchased contact lenses from Costco in a year so guess what? eye exam! You have my prescription on file and it hasn't expired so sell me contacts and let me leave! Went home, bought the same contacts online for slightly more and way less aggravation!
This was the worst service ever I show up with a new eye prescription prescribed by an actual eye doctor. Should be golden right.NOT... The ( technician ) sets my prescription off to the side and says ( We ) do our own testing here (with their own cheep hand held unit.) He explains to me that costco won't use the prescription because their findings are that the Doctor doesn't adjust the focal point to a person. Being left or right handed changes your focal point. So now every thing that appeared strait before now has a curve To say Im disappointed is the understatement of the year.
Rebekah qui travaille dans Opti-club est vraiment malpolie. Cette personne ne connait rien de la politesse et la courtoisie. J’ai l’impression qu’elle n’aime pas son job.
Dont recommend coming to Costco for adjustments. Went in to get my glasses adjusted. The staff member bent my arms and nose pads of my glasses with their hands. Didnt warm them up or use proper tools to adjust. I was instructed not to try to bend the nose pads myself by a Costco optical member when I first received my new glasses as it would likely break them off (this happened when I was trying a similar pair of frames on before purchase). My nose pad anchor is now bent. Then they sprayed my lenses and used their fingers to wipe in the cleaner .... and finished by wiping them with a dirty rag. For the amount of money I spent on new frames and lenses, this is unacceptable and unprofessional. Proper practice needs to be taught to all staff who work in this department.
Poor customer service with unenthusiastic staff who consistently seem inconvenienced to do their job. I would not recommend purchasing glasses here. I will be taking my business elsewhere, there are many glasses stores with similar prices to choose from that would be a more pleasant experience.
Very rushed. Not thorough. I will pay the extra 30 dollars next time and go to a real optometrist office
Extremely disappointed with this place. I was on time for my appointment and waited for 20 minutes with my 4 year old. Then they let people who had an appointment AFTER us go before because they claimed they « could not see us » My 4 year old cannot wait that long. I recommend going to a different place.
Terrible optometrist, great opticians. Optometrist does not communicate well and rushes you out. She’s difficult to understand, she did not answer my questions and she did not explain what was wrong. Clearly does not care about patients, just looking to pack her schedule with as many people as possible. Opticians are all fantastic. Extremely helpful & will answer questions the optometrist wouldn’t bother to answer. Would strongly suggest seeing another optometrist for your prescription/checkup and then seeing the opticians for your glasses/contact lenses.
I highly recommend Costco for vision care. Dr. Bolous is a wonderful, knowledgeable, kind human. He got my eye exam done quickly with ease and my new prescription lenses are perfect. The prices are the best I've seen as well. Thank you, I will always go here for my family's vision needs.
After 3 years I was excited to shop for new glasses. Two men were in the vision centre, one was clueless and the other was extremely rude. I have never bought glasses from Costco and was intending to buy two pairs. It was the worst experience so I walked out. Very disappointing.
Traveling through Red Deer, left my contacts at home. Was fit in for an urgent contact fitting within the hour with Audrey who was knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. Very impressed, great experience.
New to town and had great service. She referred me for eye surgery with a specialist. She checks on my wifes eyeproblems every few months. No complaints here
(Translated) Bad service, wait 45 minutes, glasses that I bought last year, broken, can not repair or replace it, we no longer have this model, this place is over for me. (Original) Mauvais service, attendre 45 minutes , lunette que j'ai acheté l'année dernière, brisée, peuvent pas la réparé, ni la remplacer , on pus ce modèle, c'est terminé pour moi cette endroit .
Excellent service for contact lenses! Really appreciated the time the staff took to find me the best fitting contacts. A big thank you to Leah for her recommendation on lenses! The staff here is always lovely to deal with!
(Translated) Strangely my last comment disappeared ... They hurt me during the exam. Test poorly explained, when I wanted to repeat the test they refused so the prescription was not adjusted to my condition. When the time comes to suggest the type of lenses / corrections to be made and frames, I ask for explanations and the answer is limited to "It's up to you, it's up to you!" or "It's obvious to me!". I will never go back (Original) Étrangement mon dernier commentaire a disparu...Ils m'ont fait mal pendant l'examen.
What a waste of time going here was. I wanted to get contacts but they give you a very little time learn how to put them in and it doesn't help that there are random customers watching you while you try to put contacts into your eyes. I got contacts somewhere else and it was so much better then this terrible experience
(Translated) Dr Osmane's service sucks. (Original) Le service de Dr Osmane est nul.
(Translated) Very bad service. They made me wait 45 minutes and the exam lasted 13 minutes. Really rude on top of that. (Original) Très mauvaise service. Ils m’on fait attendre pendant 45 minutes et l’examen a duré 13 minutes. Vraiment malpolis en plus.
I was 7 minutes late for my appointment due to construction, Covid lineups and the parking lot being an absolute traffic jam. The receptionist told me I had to reschedule despite the fact I took off time from work and moved meetings around to make the appointment. I think we should all give each other a little grace and understanding at this time. Things happen (kids, meetings running late, and so on). The fact that they book 20 minute appointments back to back with go break in between is crazy. This barely gives any time to feel comfortable with your prescription and ask the optometrist questions. Will not go back.
I wouldn't even give her a 1 star. The receptionist for the optometrist was so rude. Fingers crossed that the eye glass pick up is a better experience
Zeyad was very kind and knowledgeable when helping my mom pick out glasses. Great experience. We will be back!
Do not reccomend this place. I will never go back there, as I did not like the way I was treated. They gave me a hard time about being diabetic, and their general disposition was very rude and pushy.
Had an older lady (Louise) assist me in picking out glasses. I brought my bf along and asked if he could come help me choose. She said no and he had to stand on the other side of the till. I understand for covid reasons but it’s not like the area was busy or anything it would of been 3 people in that area. This made it hard for him to help me choose different styles. I wanted to try on different sizes/styles and she said no cause it too big of a frame. I had no say in choosing frames, multiple times she shut down frames I was interest in only because they were too big. Her attitude through out the whole thing was very discourteous. Not impressed by the customer service at the optical department. I went there a year ago and had very friendly people help me find frames that suit me. I would not recommend shopping here if you do not need to. I ended up going to FYI doctors and they were super helpful and very friendly.
