Excellent and fast service! They were able to update my prescription on my lens within an hour. I have a fairly common prescription but my glasses were not purchased here, so I wasn't sure if they would be able to change my prescription. They're also able to offer a free pair of glasses that fit nicely in UVic's eye glasses insurance so you don't have to pay anything.

My wife and I went in and got a new pair of bifocals ordered for each of us, fully covered and directly billed, in just minutes. In fact, it took longer next door at the optometrists to get the prescription, which still only took a few minutes. The staff were very friendly and helpful people, professional and courteous. The shop is neat and bright, just across the street from the Centennial Parkade. We are very excited about our new glasses and would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Bought a new pair of Tom Ford glasses in Vancouver a month ago and since I didn’t want to go back there to pick them up (COVID), I had them shipped to me but they still needed to be adjusted. Didn’t want my new pair to be damaged in any way as they were quite expensive so I chose this place as they had one of the best reviews, and so glad I did! Super friendly and very experienced, would highly recommend.

Beyond impressed! Great selection of frames, excellent service. I went as a UVic student and it was so easy. Only had to show my OneCard and sign a paper and it was fully paid for by the UVSS health plan. Going above and beyond, they keep a bunch of lenses in stock already so they were able to put the glasses together in only 15min so that I could take them home right away! And then to top it off, they were out of my particular lenses so they upgraded me for free! Both Mia (staff person) and Dr.Sang (sp?)(owner) were incredibly friendly and helpful. I am so happy with my new glasses :D

Hudson Optical goes above and beyond what's asked or expected of them. I recently went in and asked why the sunglass lenses I had purchased from them last year started to fog up. My intention wasn't to get replacement lenses, I was just curious as I assumed it was something I did. The staff immediately offered to replace the lenses even though they were no longer under warranty. They truly do care about the customer and offer exceptional service. Thank you!

Honestly I have never experienced as great customer service as I have here. I was slightly upset at first as the coating of my lenses started to wear off but I sent in my glasses and they had them fixed and returned in record time. The owner and his employees are extremely friendly and they give student discounts if you show your student ID. I am a very happy customer of Hudson Optical!

Hudson Optical is, hands down, the friendliest, easiest-to-work-with optical store I've ever had the good fortune to do business with. I fully expected my partner and I to spend over an hour selecting new glasses, but we were literally in and out in less than twenty minutes. The first pair I was offered to try on was the pair I ultimately paid for. I tried two more pairs on to be polite, but I was sold on the first one. My original prescription from Inner Harbour Optometry called for a progressive-type lens which, after trying them out for a week, I was not satisfied with. Hudson Optical offered to refit my glasses with a single-vision lens at no extra cost. Their customer service is exceptional and I've already started recommending them to my friends when they ask about my new glasses. Thank you, Hudson Optical. I love my new glasses and will definitely be back in the future!

This place is awesome! Such a friendly owner and the lady that greets you is so pleasant! They genuinely care about you and take the time to ensure you find the proper frames that you like! I highly recommend this place to anyone! The good thing it's accessible by transit, they have a eye exam place next door and they had my glasses ready for me in 20 minutes! These guys are A class and will be the only place I go for my optical needs! They also do direct billing for your insurance!

These guys are awesome! They are a family business that really cares about their customers. The lady found the perfect frame for me: super light, and looks great. When it came to the lens, she advised me regarding all the advantages / disadvantages of all the many options. But the best part came in the after-sales support: it turned out that progressive lenses simply did not work for me. Yet I thought I needed them. So, I went there half a dozen times, having changed my mind once again. And every time, the optician worked with me patiently. I now have exactly the right lens in the perfect frame. Thank You!!

This is hands down the best place in Victoria to go for Glasses, especially if you are a UVic Student. As a student they offer you a discount on all frames and lenses and bill Uvic directly. Depending on the frames you chose the glasses the glasses, with lenses, may even be completely free for students. They also are one of very few places in Canada that sells Enchroma glasses. These glasses correct colour deficiencies, which I have. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. They all watched as I tried on the Enchromas and were really excited for me as I saw the colours red and green for the first time in my life. With glasses they were extremely helpful with me choosing a pair. Never once did I feel like I was being pressured to buy something expensive, or rushed because I was in there for over an hour looking at frames. This is truly an amazing place to get glasses and I highly recommended them, especially if you are a UVic student.

I am so glad I found this place! I usually get or order my eyeglasses from my eye doctor's clinic, and they are very pricey especially for a student like me! Hudson Optical offers very affordable eyeglasses and student discounts! They even have huge selection of glasses that are very suitable for Asian people who have tiny noses! Sang, the owner, provides great service. Very good rates on lenses. And he is the one to see in victoria if you're wanting to buy lindberg frames. He was the first to carry them on vancouver island and is able to do the lenses himself.

Overall had a fantastic experience, I went in as a UVIC student and through my student plan was able to get glasses completely free (literally free, just had to sign the paperwork for the health plan component and the entire process was done in the shop). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout the entire process and I was able to get my new glasses in the same day as once I chose my new frames I only had to wait 15 minutes and they were all packed and ready to go. I would absolutely recommend this store to not only all UVIC students (again, basically free glasses with the UVIC student plan) but also to anyone else in general looking to get glasses as they had a very large selection with lots of current styles. Also love how it's locally owned and operated, glad to see such great service from a locally run business. Great work everyone at Hudson Optical! :D

Addendum: Upon finding out about the situation the owner got in contact with me and talked about the situation and how it was a big miscommunication on their part. The original quote that I was given was a quote for just the frames with no lenses, hence the big price jump when the lenses were added. In light of this he has offered to give me the glasses for free. He has also discussed everything with his staff and come up with better way to present quotes so that it is clear to the customer what the quote is for. He was a very nice man and it seems that he wants each and every customer to walk out of his store happy. I will return to deal with this man. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Review: I was quoted a price for some glasses with prescription lenses and when I went back to order them (barely a week later) I was told that they did not know how much it would cost and they would have to call me another day to let me know. I inquired as to how they didn't know when I already had a quote and was informed that the quote was just a guess. When I did receive the call, the price was to be FOUR TIMES the original quote; literally hundreds of dollars more! When I expressed that something had to be wrong they said that it was normal for glasses to cost that much.

Their selection of glasses is very diverse and there is a pair of frames for everyone. The staff were incredibly helpful and helped me find my perfect glasses!
