I went to stoneware optometry on February 23, 2021. The staff was very polite and professional. Dr. Sobolewski was very knowledgeable and calming. He really explained what was going on with my eyes. It had been 5 years since my last appointment at a different eye clinic. Turns out my prescription was wrong the entire time. I'll definitely go to Stonewire again.

RUDE Staff. The eye doctor didnt do my perscription right and gave me the wrong contacts. She made me put the contact in my eye even though it fell on the dirty floor. The contacts were simply blurry because they were not my exact prescription. If a doctor knows they are blurry they shouldnt just send you out the door. I told her the last pair of contacts I had were really clear because they were actually my prescription and she tried to tell me to being that exact prescription in when i went on to get a different one NOT the same one. I also booked for a contacts eye exam and they examined me for glasses and had no idea I was getting an exam for contacts when I told her about two times. This place is a waste of time and the doctor doesn't know anything. Go to lens-crafters instead and save your money.

Dr. Sobolewski is amazing with kids. He is friendly, personable, and treats them like big kids. He talks directly to the kids which makes them feel valued. We travel 2.5 hours to see him. We love Stonewire!

My doctor, Dr holtz is amazing, he is the only reason i keep going back however the girls up front are rude and passive and just seem like they don't care about anyone coming or going. I'd get new staff someone who takes customer service seriously.. I was ordering a prescription and i asked for a phone call and the girl looks up with a look on her face that says "i don't care" and says I'll text you. Unprofessional! I will be finding a new optometrist which sucks because the doctor is great but i would rather not put up with the front ladies. Always make me feel unwelcome.

Dr. Holtz was awesome- very friendly. He spent a decent amount of time with me & got to know my concerns. He explained my prescription and the changes since my last eye checkup thoroughly. I very much appreciated my appointment with him. The people at the front desk were terrific as well, and very patient with me, as I'm fairly sensitive to some of the precheckup tests. Probably the best optometrist office I've been to yet, and after being to some real duds, I appreciate the time and care Stonewire gives to their patients.

I'm 43 and have been putting off going for an eye exam for at least the past 12 months. Spent the day indoors on Saturday (so ridiculously cold here in Edmonton), which meant a stop into Kingsway Mall. The ladies upfront were able to accommodate a walk-in appointment for us and got us set up right away as new customers with direct billing to my out of province insurance provider. Dr. Ross is a bit of a rockstar, I appreciated his thoroughness, and the education that he provided me on the state of my old eyes. All and all it was a great experience, despite the fact I now will be wearing readers. Thanks again Dr Ross and staff, all the best on your next triathlon. ~ David D.

Saw Dr. Jeff Holtz for a routine eye exam. He was really friendly and efficient. I only had a slight change in my prescription and Dr. Holtz explained the pros and cons of changing out the lenses in my glasses. I liked that he wasn't salesy or pushy - just gave me the info I needed. The clinic is really cool and modern - different (in a good way) than most other optometry clinics. I'll also mention that the front desk staff was super friendly. Overall a way better experience then I've had at any other optometry clinic.

The staff here are amazing. I have sensitive eyes and always have issues with pre exam procedures. The staff are always patient and try their best to help me get through the pre exam. The optometrists always take time to explain the changes to my eyes and how my eye health is. My daughter has also started going here and both optometrists she has seen have been great with her at her young age. If you want thorough and professional service, I would come here. Appointments can also be made well in advance and online. A bonus for busy individuals who need to come off work hours.

I just called inquiring about being a new patient, informed your admin that I just had an eye exam 6 months ago and that I could have my optometrist fax it to you--she told me that you wont recognize it because your office wants patients to have an exam EVERY 6 MONTHS... I tried explaining to her that the going rate is every 1-2 years, but she insisted that your clinic wont let me purchase eyeglasses with a 6 month old exam. Ridiculous. If that's your policy, it might be masked as patient care, but its overkill and borderline blatant money grab. Hard pass.

We came in due to one child suffering from moderate eye irritation; because of a light appointment schedule that day Stonewire was able to accomodate all three for an annual exam. The various portions of the exam were done back-to-back for each child and each member of the team was ready to go (special thanks to the front desk staff who took our file info once - new clients - and let me wrangle kids while she handled the rest). The entire exam process took about 1hr, 15 min for 3 people. All results were clearly explained, questions answered (from my children and myself), and at no time did we feel rushed. I brought the family in because of my own positive experience last year and was not disappointed. The team is professional and works well together and it's obvious in their great service delivery. I feel we were well and efficiently taken care of.

Great clinic! Girls who work the front desk are nothing short of wonderful. I phoned needed contacts ASAP as I had misplaced my second set of boxes. The girls were so kind and very helpful in providing me with fast service and even giving a set to make it through my soccer game that day! Stonewire Optometry is by far the best Optometrist store for our family. We have been coming here every year and have not had one bad experience over the years. This June, I saw Dr. Sheyzeen Dhala and she is fantastic. I told her the truth about how I felt about the Pearle Vision store (which is located next to the practice), and how we will continue supporting Stonewire Optometry but will not support their next door neighbours. Dr. Sheyzeen listened without judgement and it was appreciated. She was thorough and even said, I could bring my eyewear once I purchase them to verify the new eyewear prescription if I desired. The ladies at the front desk are quick, efficient and very helpful during the initial parts of the assessment. They keep the area clean, disinfected (COVID-19) and there was instructions to keep us all safe. Way to go! To note, that we have also been seen by Dr. Ross McKenzie (in the past) and he is excellent as well, very personable, provided explanations on our individual assessments, kind and answered all questions. I would definitely recommend Stonewire Optometry for all members of the family. Whether you require glasses or contacts, they are the ones to come to! Thank you for your continued professionalism and your understanding of our needs in these times. Keep it up!

This place is not even worth 1 star. VERY RUDE incompetent girls at the front desk. I booked an appt for the very next day and they neglected to tell me I needed to bring 2 pieces of photo I.D. for my appt. When I showed up the girl tried to lie and say she told me yesterday to bring my photo I.D. I then was going to go elsewhere and she told me they will charge me $110 and they already charged my insurance. That is VERY illegal. They are not legally able to charge any insurance until after the services are rendered. They are only allowed to send a predetermination or call and get a pre approval. This place is a joke. Save your money and go elsewhere !!!!!!!!

Unfortunately the exam was having me feeling quite ill, but the optometrist and staff did an incredible job of going slowly through everything and giving me space when the appointment was over to sit and breathe. I was told that getting ill is actually not too uncommon as the exam hits a particular nerve - and this really did reassure me! I had been so embarassed but they put me at ease.

Something in my eye it hurts badly I went to see the doctor for it and he checked out told me there was a stone very small stone he put some thing to make my eye numb so I didn't fee any thing 20 minutes layer when the numbness faded a way I can still feel it the stone still in my eye it hurts and I can feel the stone in my eye so I went back to explain the doctor it .s still in my eye it hurts I can feel the stone ...the doctor tells me to go home sleep you will get better in the mornin wow I guess he is not 5aking the patient s seriously that's what I will do if I loose my eye I guess have to go back to him for some answers

Extremely poor service. When i entered the store at 1615 hrs, The lazy person at the front said they were closed. The internet says 1645. The front door was also open. Not impressed, wont go back, will not recommend.

I really like Dr. Holtz. I've had glasses since I was 9 years old, and I've seen a few different optometrists. Dr. Holtz is not only a great optometrist, but also a great healthcare worker. He takes time to explain things to you, and is caring and informative. I usually don't like going to the optometrist (it sucks feeling like you can't read the letters!), but I'm comfortable going to Stonewire. At my latest visit, I mentioned I was planning to purchase my next set of glasses online and the staff were very helpful. I didn't feel judged or scorned upon for this decision. If anything, they took extra care to explain what each part of my prescription meant. When I moved to Edmonton, I chose Stonewire solely because it was conveniently located near my work. However, I'm happy with the care I've received and don't plan to change offices any time soon!

I have been seeing Dr. Ross McKenzie now for a few years. I had not been able to find a Dr. for over 10 year who was able to uncover the issues I have had with my blurred vision and it had been extremely frustrating. Not only has he figured out the problem but he has walked me through step by step what to expect how things will progress and be treated. He has a great sense of humour and is really good with my young son as well. I have referred others to him and appreciate his expertise very much. The other piece is that he keeps very much up to date with latest trends and technologies in his field.
