I really enjoy shopping at this place in downtown Cornwall. As a movie collector this place has a massive selection of DVDs and blu-rays at great prices and some rare finds. He was extremely friendly and helpful, which says a lot as I can’t imagine what he would have to put up with with some people that would come into his shop. I feel badfor people having a hard time or are down on their luck, but it boggles my mind how many people go into a pawn shop whether to get cheques cashed or to pawn something because they need money, but don’t seem to “get” that their problems are not the owners problems, if you don’t like what is offered (or not offered) go somewhere else!

By far the best pawn shop in Cornwall. Bought a wide variety of items there from a dining room set with buffet to video games and everything in between. Prices are very fair. Can't comment what he pays for items, but if people don't like what he offers just leave - he doesn't hold a gun to one's head. People always think whatever they have is worth a fortune. Poppy runs a business - he has to figure out what he can sell an item for and move it relatively quickly. He is not running a charity!

Predatory. I have dealt with the owner several times, each time I refused to sell or pawn the Item, Dealing with the proprietors it becomes very obvious the meat of there business is dealing with desperate people with limited options. When discussing an Item's Is true worth/value or how to fraction the offering price reasonably. It becomes very apparent they aren't looking for a good deal, they are looking for a steal. Unable to make honest eye contact during the bartering process or admit to verifiable value. Located between H&R Block, and Ontario works. One gets the overall impression poppy's is waiting for people who are down on their luck, it is a pawn shop. If you aren't in a real fix, I would recommend looking into alternatives, Kijiji, eBay, or comparing other offers from different pawn shops, if your looking to buy, I would say its depends on you taste, or what your looking for. Worthless to some has great worth to others. I am bias though, based on my interactions with the people behind the counter, I would rather get low-balled or trade for lower price to someone on Kijiji, who would appreciate or find themselves lucky for the low priced Item/s, then get knowingly sandbagged by some one waiting for your unlucky day. Its almost an art form at Poppy's.
