If you’re looking for a talented Optometrist - Dr. Jay Blazius and his staff at Normandy Optical in Saint Clair Shores are it. Dr. Jay is an excellent eye doctor, he takes the time to explain to me every procedure, is always very supportive, and thorough when explaining his recommendations. He is a caring professional and has a down to earth personality. Have been going here for many years and have not had one bad thing to say about ANY of the Doctors or staff but do have a negative comment about my latest dealing with Normandy Optical. I had my eye exam 3 weeks and 6 days ago at which time I also ordered a pair of glasses, I still do not have those glasses yet. I was told they would take 2 weeks instead of the normal 1 week. After 3 weeks had gone by and no phone call letting popme know about my glasses, I called them and nobody could tell me why. Two days later, because of the weekend, they called me back on Monday and was told there was a problem with the frames getting to the lab but was told that they were aware of the problem now(they were not aware of it before I called)and that my glasses should be in on Wednesday. Here I am on Friday with no glasses and having received no phone call about my glasses. I could go on now with a Dennis Miller type rant about customer service but I promised my wife I wouldn't keep doing that sort of thing soooooo, enough said! I may have that rant with Normandy Optical when they finally call me back! If I don't have to call them first! Sorry I have to take my five star rating back!!

Great experience! I went to the wrong location and they were still able to fit me in! The Optometrist was very knowledgeable and explained things well! The woman, who helped me pick out my new frames, was very nice and even looked up to see if the frames I picked had a color I liked! Also, the price for everything was better than I expected! Will definitely be coming back and referring people to the St. Clair Shores location!

I have had countless eye exams over the past 40+ years that I have worn glasses. The eye exam that I received at Normandy Optical was by far the most best I have ever received. Molly Smith was helpful and fun to work with in selecting my new frames and explaining my options. The eye doctor and technician that I did the testing were very patient, knowledgeable and thorough. This is the first time my corrected vision is at 20/20 - I can for the first time I remember can now see clear. I highly recommend Normandy Optical.

Showed up for my 10:00am appointment, called to let them know I was there. As time ticked by customers were let out, so people were let in. 3 different employees came in and out and after 20 plus minutes I called again. I was told they would be right there. Another 3-5 minutes went bye, then she came out to tell me they need to reschedule. When you are trying to get thing done before you leave for work time is Precious. I guess I wasn’t very important. Once I got my contacts I was going to buy a new pair of sunglasses. I will never do business with them again!

Been going to Normandy optical for years but the Normandy on 10 and harper is the worst, in st clair shores. Im on disibility and can only get low- end glasses. I've been accused of taking screws out making the hinge fall apart, bending them, so they could justify not replacing them. They would actually argue with me. So, I would end up with tubes and tape on my glasses which was done by the staff and I was forced to wear. My eye dr. was kind and funny. It was the staff that was rude. I see good reviews by people that could afford the high-end glasses. Normandy needs to have sensitivity classes for the low-end staff. Visited Normandy Optical SCS for eye appointment, Went in a few days early to select frames. Michael helped us and was a tremendous help with what insurance covered and what was not, which frames to look at and background of companies who make them. He entered all info into computer regarding lens selection which made it much easier and faster to get the order in after the eye exam. What a pleasurable experience and very professional. Really really disappointed in the service and lack of compassion for patients. I had an appointment booked for a month in advance and unfortunately got stuck in traffic on my way there from work. I decided to give a courtesy call to inform them that I was just a few minutes away but was still on my way. They instead told me to reschedule even though I had driven 25 minutes already and was close to their location... and after I explained that I work in the medical field and it is difficult to reschedule given my crazy schedule. Never have experienced a clinic or health care facility that callous. I’m never usually late to appointments but life happens and it’s very unfortunate that they were unwilling to work with me despite only being a few minutes behind. I will take my business else where to a place with more caring and compassion for it’s patients.
