Needed new glasses. Great service and lots of assistance in choosing a new pair. Had a groupon and saved a ton of money. Plus direct billing to my insurance made it super easy and painless. The two for one deal that they advertise on the radio is quite misleading though. The second pair comes from a very specific wall with what look like the cheap and reject frames. I get why they do it, but still quite misleading. Beyond that I had a very good experience and would definitely recommend.

My husband and I both bought glasses in April 2017. We were very satisfied with the Customer Service and the Glasses. Yesterday my husband lost his glasses at the park and we searchedfor them everywhere. I phoned Optiks International and had Sharon help me thru the process of getting a new pair for my Husband. She went above expectations and got my husband all set up for another set of glasses especially knowing how stressed we were over the ordeal. The Customer Service was exceptional. We even had Prashant the other salesperson who sold us the original pair come to us and give me a hug saying how sorry he was about us losing our glasses. EXCELLENT STAFF

We bought a Vogue frame for $273 and prescription glasses for $299 plus $60 for blue coating last week. Based on my previous experience with blue filter lens we were expecting clear lens with blue reflection but we have received yellow/green lens. It is like wearing a sunglasses at home. In time of purchase nobody explain for us about this and the better options. When we went back to the store to complain about this product we received an angry confront with customer service. The guy was standing and speak loudly while we were sitting. When he calmed down he offered two options photochemical and zero blue. Each one for additional $60. The Vogue frame on its website is 140USD. On the receipt there is $197 charge for "Platinum lens protection package" as part of glasses cost which I don't know if I had options to don't get it as nobody discussed. We had bad experience and will not go back again.

Very friendly staff welcomed me moments within walking into the store. They were very efficient about gathering my necessary information and getting me into my optometry appointment. The optometrist was great, asking me ask the right questions and was very speedy. Opticians were super helpful too. Got new glasses from here and I love them. Would come again.

Worst customer service.. they made me wait for 30 min to get a staff in order to discuss a quote for my glasses and they have very limited collection of sunglasses..don’t waste your time by going this place .

Even though the eye exam was great, I did not receive all of what I went there for. I was looking to update my contact lens prescription as well as my glasses, and when I asked I was not given a clear answer on what needed to happen to do that. They have an online questionnaire to book an appointment and were great in the booking process, but ultimately did not have any regard for the online questionnaire so I did not receive a contact lens fitting. I am not an optometrist, so I wouldn't know if I needed a fitting or not. I will not be returning.

Very unhappy with #optiksinternational at Uptown. When I tried to get a free refill of lens cleaner with a bottle they had given me on my previous visit, they refused to honour it, claiming it wasn't one of their bottles. When I explained that it was the bottle given to me on my last visit instead of the Optiks bottle I had brought in, they refused to believe me. They offered to fill my rogue bottle "this time" but that's missing the point ... they should have exchanged it for a bottle that was acceptable to them so I could continue to get the refills they offer without going through the third degree. My cynical side suspects they gave me the "wrong" bottle last time to get out of giving away lens cleaner. My family and I have given them quite a bit of business the last few years, but I'm #notshoppingthereagain or recommending them to others. Incidentally I was in there getting a quote for potentially more than $1,000 of eyewear. It's a shame that this one poor example of customer service (by the assistant manager, no less) on a seemingly trivial matter has erased the previous helpful experiences I've had there.

My wife and I chose to use a groupon for our new glasses so we bought 2. We went to the Uptown store and we were told to pick a New Frame from this section and then for the Free set you had to chose from another section where the Free ones are ( totally understandable that the free ones would be less expensive) So we both picked our frames and ordered our prescriptions. When we went to collect them, my wife's set didn't feel right, they adjusted them and then proceeded to deal with me. My two pair didn't seem right either, I was moving my head up and down to much to focus. They said I needed to get use to transitions and I told him, this is my 4th pair of transitions I have had over approx. the last 15 years, I know what transitions feel like. He said just give it some time for your eyes to get used to them. So away we both went to try them. Approx. 4-5 weeks later we went back. My wife told them she gets a headache when she wears them to long and that she has been wearing glasses for 50 years ( we are retirement age) they adjusted them again saying they are not sitting right and the arms need to be repositioned, so they took them in the back and did that. Then it came to me, I told them when I'm driving I have to tip my head down quite a bit so see the speedometer clearly, and I paid extra for One pair for the Parifial Vision. Which I said my old pair had. He shocked me by saying that my old glasses that I purchased from my optical dept. at my doctors were a better quality glass and this is the best we can do with these glasses. He rechecked the spot where you look straight ahead and said they looked correct to him and that I should give it some more time and said he would put a note on my file. Well quess what, I went to the theatre shortly after, and I had to keep my head tilted down so I could watch the show. So do think I'm taking another 8 mile trip back to Optiks to be told to give it more time, instead of fiquring out the vision line on my progressives are wrong. No, I'm telling you and all my friends, you don't go to a place that gives you Two Pair for the Price of One and be satisfied. I certainly won't be wasting my time going back and neither should anyone else.

Overpriced, upselling packages that they never mentioned would be included in the bill. Pushy customer service along with being complete rude during the process of actually buying them. Should have walked out. Got the glasses and they're wrong. Going to have to take them back now

I've had mixed service here. Some of the employees are great, they respect your space and are there when you need help. Others are very sales-person-y. I found a pair of frames I liked that were $450, I found the same pair of frames online for $235 so they seem to increase the price quite a lot.

Booked an eye appointment explained that I need them to check my plan before going thtthro with my appointment. Did they can't do that I have had other places check my coverage before the exam. The optometrist was rude, dismissive, and very in welcoming. I will never go back to this place, I have never felt so uncomfortable or in appreciated by an optometrist before going to this place. Never again. I won't be bringing my son back their either. Overall experience was HORRIBLE. The staff and optometrist need to be aware of how they are treating their patients. Went to my regular optometrist and received the exact information that I was looking for and they answered all of my questions around what my coverage pays for and doesn't pay for. I will not be contacting the optiks international optometrist for any further services.

I walked in with 2 pairs of broken glasses and walked out with one fixed pair slated to be replaced and the other left with them for repair, all under warranty. Excellent service and was refreshing to not have anyone try to talk me into just buying new ones. 4/5 was just because they didn’t have enough staff on hand and the wait for service took awhile.

My son cracked his lenses on a pair of glasses that, as it turned out, were just over their 2-year warranty. The MOST helpful Nakita clearly outlined the options available to us and then HONOURED the warranty, despite it being lapsed. I was VERY IMPRESSED with her helpfulness and professionalism and will not hesitate to use Optiks again in the fall when I replace my old glasses.

I called on July 24 then again on August 17, to replace my glasses which I've lost. It seems simple enough, because this is where I purchased them two years ago. They must be extremely busy or their system is broken because I'm still waiting for them to call back (after speaking directly with two representatives). Not sure I'd recommend, you're taking your chances.

I sent my teenage son as I was busy. They sold him two pairs of glasses for $650. They told him it was a two for one deal. I quickly got a refund with no objections from the salesman as he knew he was guilty of fleecing an unwitting victim. Stay away from this place. I'm guessing the shysters that greet you at the door are paid by commission.

Both my partner and I have had the pleasure to deal with Usam for several pairs of glasses. He is a super nice guy and very patient! We tried on many pairs of glasses and he was very helpful with his advice too!! When we need new glasses or adjusting of glasses Optiks has been great and Usam in particular was great. Just spent an hour at the Victoria location trying on glasses, went to purchase them and had to leave as it was such a frustrating experience. One staff member kept coming up to me and asking if I “was done with the computer because she had someone waiting to pay and no other computers were free” .. She asked me this on at least three occasions reason, as I was sitting on the customer side of the counter .(how am I supposed to know where her colleague is at with the computer..?.. he just went to check my prescription and was in the middle of things). When her colleague did come back with my prescription and a price, he then passed me off to the same staff member above, who was very confused and when he handed her the prescription he had written down, she kept asking me if I was happy with it.... Maybe I’m just really impatient. I couldn’t handle the pace or the confusion and had to leave. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but it’s pretty frustrating when you’re ready to hand over $600 for a pair of glasses and they can’t make the process happen. On to the next store!

I first went to Optiks international when I was not yet a client to find a frame for a 2nd frame of backup glasses & Kim the assistant found an old set of frames that she fit for me .... the next time I was buying glasses I made a point of returning. Kim again helped after a slight misunderstanding & got 2 sets that were perfect as she is a consummate professional and great to deal with. Most recently I returned as 1 of sets lens had developed as issue, and the manager, Rakhi, another true professional personally helped even with a very busy Xmas time store going on. I would recomend the Victoria store at Uptown Mall but also remind people this is Western Canada based retailer we should make an extra to support. ????

I used to always come here for my glasses but the prices are waaay too expensive now. They quoted me $940 for 2 pairs. One of them was cheap and flimsy looking but even then… almost $1000??? It’s just not worth it anymore. I was able to get a pair of Versace glasses for $300 from Costco. Won’t be coming back to optiks international. The other day I came in like 40 minutes before close and the lady there told me I couldn’t touch any glasses because they just finished counting inventory. Like what?! ???? this place is a joke.

I had nothing but the most amazing experience with both the optometrist and the staff to pick out glasses. Never had glasses before so it was a new experience and yet so amazing I felt comfortable and at ease. The selection was a tad overwhelming but the staff took the time to really try on and give me their opinion, helpful when you’re by yourself!

No stuff offer any greeting or help; even they do not have any costumer to serve. My family spent almost 30 mins in the store; try to find pairs of glasses for my kids. No stuff offer any help. We did not find anything we need. Bad shopping experience.

Absolute horrible experience. First they only book a 45 minute appointment but didn’t tell us that or we would have known we had to plan two trips. We spent the first appointment trying a bunch on, and got it narrowed down but by then had to leave. The guy said he would record the model etc so we could come back. Came back 5 days later and no info on file so we had to start from scratch. Picked out a bunch of frames and went to start all over only to be told my daughter wasn’t allowed to take her mask off to try on glasses. How am I supposed to see how they look on her??!!!!! I understand covid protocols but you need to figure your yourselves out here. You think I’m going to spend $700-$1000 on glasses and not know how they look on her face??!! This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. You guys need to figure out how to make it work. There are already plexiglass barriers in place. Put some tables outside to try them on if you’re going to be this way. I don’t for a second believe Dr Bonnie would spend that kind of money on a pair of glasses without knowing what they look like on her face. Businesses complain about losing money during covid but if you can’t figure out a way to work with the mandates then you deserve to lose the business. My son bought glasses there a couple weeks ago and picked them up a few days ago. Came home to show me and they won’t even stay on his face properly, they slide off. How can you not fit them before he leaves the store??!!! Never shop here. Absolutely horrible.

Very disappointed with the customer service here. Had my annual eye exam at the Uptown Optometry and found my eyes to have changed by -0.75. Brought my old glasses in to the attached Optiks International to get the lenses updated to the new prescription. Couldn’t wear the glasses for more then 20 minutes without getting bad headaches and making me nauseous. Went back in after a few days to ask about the issues and was told I just had to keep wearing them to get used to them and that based on my prescription I should have paid for the more expensive lenses which would have prevented the headaches. Which I wasn't told at the time of original purchase. So tried again for a few weeks but still couldn’t wear them without getting headaches. Brought them back in again and was told again there was nothing they could do I would just have to get used to them. Fast forward 18 months of not being able to wear my glasses and wearing contacts all waking hours of the day and went to get my eyes checked again (at a different eye doctor). Told her the issues and her automatic suspicion was the prescription was wrong for me and my glasses too strong. Which turns out it was. Now paying to get my lenses changed back to what they were before my original eye exam with Uptown. I understand mistakes happen. But the fact I went in multiple times and complained that they weren’t working and that I couldn’t wear them and received no help whatsoever is just plain bad service.

I can't say enough about how helpful Neil M. was with helping me find appropriate frames. It is difficult for me to find frames to meet my needs, and he went above a beyond to make sure I got two pairs that worked for me! Very happy with the service.

Awesome experience today!! Graham was amazing and really went the extra mile to help get me set up with some new frames, since my old ones had kicked the bucket. He knew that I was going on holiday the next day, and made sure that I would get them before I left! Great service, would definitely recommend to anyone.

When the epidemic started my mantra has been be very polite and be extra patient; things will not be normal, so I get delays. The frames I purchased from Otiks sometime ago broke this morning; I only have one pair. Given that I did not have a cell phone and was close to Optiks I decided to check at the store. When I got there I read the sign on the door, asking people to call and thought, no problem, it's inconvenient, but that's life under Covid. I made my way home called as requested. I left my phone number and waited two hours. Having not received a return call after 2 hours I called again....It's been close to hours since my second phone call and no call. All that I need to know at this point is if my frames are repairable. I'm sorry, I get the covid cautions; my partner works in RJH, but over 4 hours to return a call is unacceptable, even during these times.. I was a patron. I not sure I will be one going forward!

The staff at Optiks are very professional and were able to help me immediately resolve my prescription problem. During Covid, I had my glasses made, however after picking them up and wearing them for a short length of time I realized something was not right. I returned to Optiks hoping to have this problem resolved and without hesitation they sent my glasses off to be repaired. I haven't had a problem since and am so appreciative with the service that Optiks provided.

Victoria store: Overall a pretty awful experience - I brought my eyeglass choices to the counter and pleasant, rookie clerk started by building an account for me. Once it got technical she brought in a more experience tech and that's when things went south. With only the frames I chose and my prescription, they spent about 10 minutes on their own working on the computer then came back to me with, "that'll be $961." I told them I had a groupon plus still needed to calculate/ process the insurance, so I asked to be walked through the costs. They seemed reluctant to show me the screen and when they did, said, "oh, our mistake, that'll be $786, how do you want to pay?" Again, I took them back to the screen and asked them to provide me with the details and how the insurance coverage would factor in. She took my insurance card and processed the claim without walking me through any further details, then told me I owed her $536, still without going through any of the details for the glasses (lens types, coatings, etc.)! I explained that was still too much and she said it was too late now because the insurance claim had already been processed! She showed me the 1-800 number for the company and said I could either wait six to eight weeks for my insurance claim to process or I could pay her $536 for the glasses! She said I could phone the insurance company at that time, then acknowledged she could maybe find a way to void the transaction. After some exasperation and negative vibes from the two clerks they finally managed to confirm the voided insurance transaction. I strongly encourage everyone to avoid OI at all costs, they came across as very dishonest and disrespectful.

I visited optics at uptown yesterday with a friend on a mission to find 2 pairs of glasses. We were helped by 2 different people and they both had different pricing on the lenses. One knew I had a groupon and the other didn’t. Of course the groupon price was $100 more. After an hour I had finally picked out 2 pairs. I sat down with the lady and she gave me a whopping quote of $557 for the two pair. How is this a groupon deal? I had gone to a competitor the day before and their regular deal of buy 2 get 1 was simply that. No groupon, no picking from certain glasses. My quote there was $200 less and name brand frames. The service at Optiks was terrible and we found it to be very unprofessional. I could go on but you get the point. A complete waste of time and groupon is a scam. I’m going back to the competition.

Similar experience to 'Jessica' (below). Good friendly, seemingly helpful initial service. But between the eye exam (next door) and the quality of the final product, they dropped the ball. First of all, I have NEVER had a bad pair of glasses in all of my last 6 pairs. This first pair of lenses I got from this place 1.5 years ago did not enable me to read a newspaper comfortably (blurry). Yes, they said there was an 'adjustment period' (longer than any previous pair!). But after 3-4 months of inconvenience I had them returned and they thankfully agree to replace the lenses. The new lenses were better, but now, after 1.5 years, still not as sharp as any of my previous glasses. And, to make things worse, there is this sweaty fog that develops at both upper inside corners of my lenses several times a day. Never seen this in any pair of glasses. Overall, not a good experience. _______________________________________________________________________ Response to Marketing Mgr reply Thanks for the follow-up offer, but I have never had to go back to ANY eye wear shop for so much after-service, either in Canada or overseas. At $4-500 a pop (for lenses/frames that cost a small fraction of that), we can expect better service/attention to detail the first time around for such an essential medical service.

Most of the time when I go to Optiks for prescription glasses, the ladies I meet are extremely knowledgeable and friendly however every now and than we run into some who are impatient and rude. Victoria store probably can hire some part time people to help a few more people select their style of glasses and ensure the browsers are not touching everything while they wait for their turn. Makes customers wait time shorter and those who prepare the prescriptions to be sent out can just stay at the desks to do that.

My first time experience with Optic International has not been good, so far. First time the lens measurements for my progressives were inaccurate and the right lens had a light scratch from factory. They made a second attempt and the new lens for far site are now accurate but the near site is too low, the blurriness is causing me headaches, while I’m giving my eyes some time to adjust to the new glasses. I have to raise the glass frame in order to focus, to see clearly. Their lens are either cheaply made, poor quality, to save them money or it’s the workmanship, inexperienced. Compared to my old glasses from Costco It seems like my new glass lenses are less forgiving, smaller focusing areas. I also noticed the right side arm is now loose from them trying to adjust the way the glasses fit and sit. I’m trying to decide to ask for my money back, and take my prescription to Costco or give them a third attempt to fix things right. Best Regards Joe

My girlfriend and I went into the store both needing glasses, and we were met with great help from Neil. Very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable, he spent an hour with us looking and choosing frames. Once we selected ours it only took 2 business days and we were set! Absolutely will return for our next pair.

I visited the store on a Tuesday after work. There were a number of customers being helped at the counter so I did have to wait a little while. Neil was very friendly and helpful and pays attention to detail. The manager helped me order new lenses and she was also very friendly and provided me with a discount. I like the selection of frames, both designer and bargain. The lighting, mirrors and spaciousness of the store make it easy to shop.

The sale people are very insistent upon helping you. But if they won't listen to what you're looking for and just keep bringing you the exact opposite of what you wanted, it becomes a really frustrating experience. I wanted thin, light, metal frames in a bright color with small lenses. The salesperson kept bringing me heavy frames in dark colors or really large lenses. She didn't like the choices I made for myself, even though I'd really liked how they looked so I eventually walked out feeling that I'd wasted a lot of time and remembering how much I really dislike commission salespeople. This was the second time I'd gone, the first time the manager at the time had told me that polycarbonate lenses break/scratch easily and don't provide UV protection (they're used in safety glasses for a reason and do provide 100% UV protection) and wouldn't let me buy polycarbonate lenses in frames that I liked, insisting that I had to have their "premium" lenses to be happy. I won't be back.

Had a glasses emergency, as I broke my glasses on Christmas Eve day. I came in seeing if they could do anything to repair my glasses that had dropped and fallen apart at work. They asked me to leave my glasses and told me they would see what they could do. 2 hrs later, all fixed and as clean as ever. Much appreciated as without my glasses I would have had a Christmas with a lot of squinting. Now I get to watch my kids open their presents clearly !

I've never written a review before the service here was awful enough to prompt my doing so. My boyfriend came in looking to buy a cleaning cloth and some solution. After talking to an associate we were told to wait until a computer freed up so she could serve us. She did not point us to any line so we were waiting on the far side of the impromptu line that formed, and no one bothered to communicate with us though it was clear we were waiting for service. She did not communicate with the other associates what we needed and did not approach us again, instead choosing to help some other customers and ignoring us for the rest of our visit. We then lined up and waited for a computer to free up. We made it to the front of the line. A man who appeared to be the sales lead proceeded to approach the middle age couple BEHIND us to ask if they were making a purchase, and led them to the only free till instead of us. He did not speak to us even though we were at the front. This was a 5-minute errand that stretched to 35 minutes, and we didn't even end up buying the cloth because we had to leave to catch the ferry. We were perfectly happy to wait but the customer service was rude and seemed only interested in high-paying customers. This Optiks International wasted our time and energy, and I don't recommend it.

Although no one helped us with selecting the frame (that's why only 4 stars) we were help in a very speedy and professional manner once we approach the help desk. The lady that helped us calculated various methods to give us the best savings. We got the 2 pairs we bought within a week from ordering them. Another lady helped us with the adjustments when we went to pick them up. She was very friendly and knew what angles to bend the frame and nose piece for a perfect fit without wasting a lot of our time.

Had an awesome experience at optiks in victoria the team of Jackie and Neil made purchasing glasses a fun exciting experience. They took the time to introduce me to the diffrent styles and benefits of frame and lens type and were patient as we worked together to find the right fit. They even recommended purchasing a Groupon which saved me over 200$, without me knowing about this prior to purchasing. They really look out for their clients. Neil's astute eye for fashion helped guide me to a pair of Burberry and Gucci frames, I would highly recommend Optiks if you want a team of stylish professionals with a great sense of humour!

Told to pick out frames told no on every frame saying won't fit my lenses sent back again and again on my own to pick frames to be told no. I can't see the frames to pick out ones that will. No one helps guess cause I'm low income not worth their time. After a half hour of every frame being a no I had a panick attack and left

Had a wonderful experience. Always thought I couldn’t afford glasses here. The 2 for 1 deal is amazing and I am excited to receive my glasses. Will be my first time with blue light. The staff were all very helpful and amazing. Thank you Optics!

I liked the variety in their inventory but there was very little staff available on the floor to provide information or feedback. In the end I was able to find a pair and a lovely girl helped in the process, but that was after 20 mins of browsing on my own.

Never Never GO HERE! My son's eye issues came to light in kindergarten screening. There was limited time to restore the issue for the signals from eye to brain as a developing youth. Took our prescription to Optiks International Uptown. Got two pairs of glasses on a sale so we had a back up pair. One pair had no prescription, just glass. Didn't know it until his next optometrist appointment 18 months later. Too late. Damage permanent. Complete negligence!!!!! Oh, but they gave us the $100 back. So I guess that was good business. NOT

June 2, 2020 (Tuesday) I was standing outside their door for almost 12 minutes because their staff/doorkeeper was busy on the phone. When I finally got in I asked if I could look at their display eyeglasses frames (without touching) as I have already seen the optometrist. The woman said it's by appointment only and the next available one is Sunday. I only saw two customers inside their big store/clinic so I asked if she could give me just five minutes to check their display for the specific Oakley frame I was looking for. She said, "we have Oakleys and because of the Covid-19 we can't accommodate you right now". I told her I work in health care and I won't be touching anything at the display. Her reply was, "then you should know better" with an attitude. I work on Sunday and it will take me two weeks to find out if they have the specific frame I wanted because of course their website is not helpful either. It would not take her two minutes to check if she wanted to help. Will I go back? No.

Terrible service don't waste your time. We tried to pay for the glasses on two plans but he told us it was impossible and he couldn't do it. We went in three times and saw different people each time and they all had different responses. They also told us we could not pay for one on one plan and the other on the other plan. And He kept on changing his answer. Then we went to lens crafters and they let us do it no problem. Don't waste your time here, go somewhere else. I would rate this 0 stars but the lowest is 1.

I experienced a malfunction with my sunglasses while at Uptown and the staff here were happy to assist with a repair free of charge. I was extremely impressed and am thankful.

I've had mixed experiences as well. I had a good visit with Dr Wendy for my eye exam and also with the staff when I was purchasing glasses. But when I went back with my young child Dr Wendy was cold, rushed and dismissive of his anxiety. I understand how hard it is to work with an anxious kid, especially when you are busy, but her approach made the situation worse. However, her staff member doing the initial exam, was the opposite. She was calm, cheerful and encouraging. All in all I personally won't go back for eye exams and wouldn't recommend it as a place for kids, but it's is a great place to purchase glasses.

Wanted to get my eyes tested as it has been too long. Decided to try a place that was close. Called to make an appointment only to be given a completely different number to call. I tried this number a few times and got the answering message all times. Not impressed at all and will not be going here for anything. I was warned not to go to Optiks International. I like to make up my own mind. Now I have and I will look elsewhere
