I HIGHLY recommend this business for ALL your eyeglass and contact needs. If you VALUE yourself and your time then you DESERVE to be treated AMAZINGLY by THE OPTICAL SHOP in Brookings, South Dakota. The EXCEPTIONAL customer service, transparent and informative information was above all. BUT THE SPEED OF SERVICE will make this my life long optical clinic...in AND out with new glasses cut in the shop in under 40 minutes!!! Bravo!!!! A+++

University Optical in the Truhlsen Eye Institute on the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus has served me well through four rounds of prescription updates over the last five years. Lori deserves special commendation for being careful, thorough, professional, and cheerful, even when a customer (perhaps even this one) may fail on one or more of those counts. This place is amazing! Everyone is so nice and incredibly helpful. Dr. Susan takes the time to explain everything she finds during the exam in detail and answer all questions you have. They did forget to order my contacts one time, but were very apologetic about it, put a rush on the order, provided me with an extra temporary pair, and they came in the following business day.

My wife and I stopped in for an appointment a few weeks back. We scheduled eye exams and were fitted with new glasses. I cannot say enough about the experience, the people, the treatment, and the expertise we witnessed was absolutely extraordinary. My wife told me the only reason she never wore her older glasses (prescribed by different organization) was because they didn’t feel right and the prescription was incorrect, “the people at the Optical Shop know what they are doing”, were her exact words. They took the time to make sure everything was perfect. In my opinion, I cannot remember seeing images so clear and sharp as I do now. It’s like looking through a kids eyes again. Completely amazing… and the care was above and beyond anything I’ve ever observed before, truly a team atmosphere driven by great leadership with customer satisfaction being the ultimate goal. Thank you again!

They committed insurance fraud. My family has gone here for years and every year they covered my glasses (I have a very small prescription) but this year they claimed that our insurance would not cover my glasses because my prescription is so minimal.

Chris Kushman recommends Brookings Optical Shop: "I am blind in one eye. And after going somewhere else that put me in the progressive lenses, I was beyond frustrated. So I changed up to the Optical Shop, and Dr. Coats was very patient and answered my questions, she pretty much let me know, that they should had warned against the progressive lenses. Everyone that works there, are great. I can't recommend them enough! Great selection of frames as well."

After cataract surgery, I took my new prescription to The Optical Shop at Village Pointe because it was convenient to my doctor's office. It was my understanding that Medicare would pay for one pair of glasses after cataract surgery but I was told by Myra that this was not true but she could offer a 25% discount. I assumed I had misunderstood the Medicare coverage so went ahead and ordered and paid for the new glasses. I am so disappointed that the employees at this location actually lied about the Medicare coverage. Medicare does pay for glasses after surgery and my should have been paid for. Are these employees working for commission? If The Optical Shop chooses not to bill Medicare they should have told me that, not that Medicare would not pay. Unethical to say the least and I would never recommend this business to anyone.
