I’m a first time customer of House of Optical, & plan to stick with this place for a long time. Wonderful overall experience. The new facility is beautiful, the staff are very customer-service oriented, enthusiastic, & most importantly; they are knowledgeable. I would recommend House of Optical to anyone looking for a change!
My favorite place to go for glasses for my kids. Now I get to go for my husband and myself too. The staff is so friendly and they know their stuff! They have a huge assortment of glasses and turn around time from ordering and pick up is like 3 days.
Great staff and selection! I was helped by Optician Cathy today, who was knowledgeable and very patient with me as I tried on what felt like hundreds of glasses! She helped me narrow down my choices and was so kind to me throughout the process. (I tried going to Warby Parker for my last pair of glasses and the frames were cute, but they just didn’t last, and the lenses scratched so easy!) I’m happy to be back at House of Optical where I have always gotten good quality glasses. Dr Feldman is a little on the quiet side, but he fine-tuned my prescription just right :)
Everyone in this office was extremely nice and knowledgable. Did not feel rushed at all, excellent selection of glasses, and they were even so kind as to adjust my old glasses for me.
I’m a very happy patient of House of Optical. They always give be great care and service and have a fantastic selection of frames. They went above and beyond today, however. Last night my mother was visiting me from (way) out of town and my bad bunny thought her glasses were an excellent toy and made them almost unwearable. Despite not being a patient/customer, they helped us make them wearable again and didn’t charge us a dime. Such kindness and care is why I never even think of going elsewhere for glasses. House of Optical is my go to for anything regarding the ‘ol peepers. Dr. Langton is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and engaging. He makes you feel like family at every step. All staff are fantastic, courteous, efficient, and so kind. It really feels like catching up with friends, even when they’re beyond busy. They explain all insurances to a an absolute T, and you know where you are at with regards to coverage. Special shout-out to Cindy who helped me pick out new glasses today, and was an absolute delight. If you’re in metro Detroit, and have vision needs, these are the guys you want to visit.

The front desk staff is wonderful. However, the woman in the other area that waited on me wasn't rude, but she wasn't friendly at all. I wanted to make a purchase of all the services. However, her non-personality made me change my mind entirely and I purchased only what Medicare allowed. After being referred by Dr. Shanbom's office I really thought this was a outstanding place. Because his staff is AWESOM. I will never go back to House of Optical nor will I refer anyone there EVER. I waited for over two to three weeks for a call to pick up my glasses, nothing. I called they said they called, I told them I didn't receive a call, no messages were left on my home phone or cell phone. They disputed what I said. I went to get my glasses, still no difference in their services. The glasses weren't even adjusted properly. Horrible place. I wish I could give them a minus star.

They were very nice and cordial when I first began going there but the last 3 years (including my visit today), they seem to have become unfriendly? Uncaring? Impolite? I cant quite put my finger on the right word. After going there every year for at least 10 years your would think we might be recognized and greeted as old customers, instead we were treated as strangers. Granted, we arrived at 1930 hours and we knew they closed at 8. They definitely pointed that fact out to us. We weren't ready to close the deal anyway that night. HoO! GET BACK TO YOUR ROOTS and where you once were. Polite and eager to make a sale! You have great selection now get that happy face back!
I was due to get my eyes exam and was referred to this place. Lauren and Megan who are part of the staff were very friendly and approachable. Dr Feldman, was very thorough and answered every question I had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would go back as well. I also must say they have a lot of frames to choose from as well.
House of Optical has a wide variety of frames to choose from. I found that the staff was very knowledgeable to help guide my decision on frames at my last appointment. The doctors are very punctual. Overall, great customer service and friendly staff!
The following was sent by email to House of Optical via email on 7Jan2021, and hand delivered on 11Jan2021. No response to me from either contact, so I'm posting it here today, 16January2021. "So I had an exam, and lenses were ordered back in October of 2020. I was not fully confident at the time of my appointment ending in the clarity of my vision at the end of my examination thru your device. The mention of possible early onset of cataracts was mentioned. I waited two weeks or so for the call for my lenses to come in, and upon the installation of the lenses, I again voiced concerns of the lack of clarity in my vision. This time the "let your eyes get used to them" phrase was used. And I agreed to do that. Fearing for deeper issues, I made an appointment with an Opthamolgist. That happened Dec 11th 2020. They found no issues even remotely resembling cataracts, if fact, aside from my astigmatism, I was assured my eyes were very healthy. The did however find an difference in prescription, and set up the device to my current prescription filled to your specifications, and then theirs and it noticed a great improvement in the clarity. Reaching back to you at House of Optical you agreed to a 1 time remake of the lenses to the provided 3rd party examination specifications. I transmitted that script and stopped in on Dec 12 for a moment to have my frames traced again. Dec 28th or so I was called to retrieve my lenses, and upon arriving, was notified that my lenses were ground down to fit into a child's glasses frame, and you would have to make them again. As I type this, I am closing in on 3 months having to deal with the deficiency of the original lenses, the additional costs and inconvenience of having an Opthamolgist exam, and the re remake of lenses due to the mishandling of my case. I am hoping to recoup some, if not all of my out of pocket costs paid to House of Optical in relation to this totally unacceptable situation and high level of inconvenience, when I come to pick up my lenses this time around, whenever that might be." The lenses made to the second opinion were right on the money. Suffice it to say, after being a patient a couple years, after this experience, I will not be back. UPDATE After this review was posted, I was contacted by a member of management to try to resolve the issue. I do not remove reviews once posted, however I do make annotations to existing ones when warranted. The member of management who contacted me apologized profusely for the multiple errors in misplacing my email and hand delivered note, and for my inconvenience. She assured me that a process has been put into place to eliminate such happenings in the future.
My preferred location to go to for eye care and glasses/sunglasses. If something isn't on the shelves and you've found something else you like, they're always happy to order it in. Great staff, always helpful for me because I am not super familiar with my benefits. Would highly recommend.
I've been coming to House of Optical for over 6 years and I won't be coming back. I am now on my 4th attempt to get lenses for my glasses and sunglasses. The first time I came back to pick up my lenses and frames the prescription was wrong in all 3 pairs of glasses. After a very confusing conversation with the Doctor he told me he only corrected the astigmatism at 50%. He never told me he was planning on doing that the first time. That caused another 1 week wait for new lenses at the proper prescription. When I came back for the second time 1 pair did not have the antiglare coating and was the wrong prescription and my sunglasses were died the wrong tint. So far they are 1 for 3. Turn to today, over a month from the first day I ordered the lenses, I am back for the third time and the sunglasses were died incorrectly again! I'm an airline pilot and the color of my lenses is extremely important. The staff is very apologetic about the whole situation but having paid over $500 for 3 new sets of lenses and having them screwed up 3 times now is not acceptable. Take your business elsewhere and avoid the headache that House of Optical has caused me.
Stopped by here yesterday to look at new frames. After getting checked for the covid and handed a grey plastic box for frames to try on, which I saw none I liked and no one helped me find a frame. This was right after I got off of work. Maybe they put a sign which says shower before coming into the store.

The service was simply superb. They had patience and professionalism that was guided by excellence. I am a former customer who had to use another store two years ago but I came back this year and couldn’t be happier.
Optometrist was great, but I have visited the place 4 times to get one pair of glasses. They forgot to place the order. They screwed up the order and got it wrong. Tired of visiting the store, taking a number and waiting 45 minutes, I asked them to just send the glasses to me in the mail. After a week past I was notified that my glasses are ready for in store pick up. Infuriating that they just can't simply get me the glasses I ordered.

After being a loyal customer for 5 years, that means absolutely nothing as I was treated as an inconvenience when I apogetically asked if my son, not me, could still be seen for his 3:30 pm appointment as I showed up late for my 3:00pm appointment at 3:20 pm. The front desk staff person, proceeded to argue with me that my son's appt was at 3:15pm. Okay, well even if it was, you're expecting me to reschedule BOTH appts. My son, I was told would be seen at 3:30 pm. What are you saying? That the doctor was only going to see me for 15 minutes? I have been wearing glasses since I was in second grade, contacts since 8th grade and have received a lot of optical services. I have yet to have a 15 minute exam with the most efficient doctor. It was such a huge deal to see if my son could still be seen. Are you kidding me??? I was more than a little put off. On top of that, another very unprofessional front desk staff person, yawned, not once but twice, in front of me. I guess she was really busy...no, because, my son and I were one of 4 customers there. I will never go back to this place. I just wonder what is more important to businesses now? Money or having satisfied and pleased customers? Definitely the former with this establishment currently. Not a driving principle of a "Good to Great" business and I am more than happy to leave!!!!

Do NOT go to this optometry clinic. There are MUCH better clinics in the metro Detroit area. I have been going to this place since I was 8. I got my first pair of glasses here. Flashforward to COVID-19, and since my contact RX ran out prior to it, they have refused to give me more contacts!! I’ve literally been a patron of 10+ years and they wouldn’t even fill my contact prescription. Obviously they do not care for their patients, and do not go above and beyond in service. The receptionist was completely rude and did not care about the situation I have been put in. Thanks House of Optical for making my migraines worse and eye irritation worse!! DON’T GO HERE!! I even called RX Optical and they even told me what House of Optical was doing was very mean to their patients. Unbelievable! I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The people here at house of optical never stop amazing me. Brought in a pair of sunglasses to have them taken a look at. Complete warranty repair. However they came back broken. They took them back and replaced the frames completely. New Maui Jim’s and not one hassle. My family and I recommend house of optical to anyone and everyone. They never stop caring. Thank you guys!!

I would not even consider going anywhere else or sending anyone elsewhere for eye glasses or eye exams. i have been there 10 times and had never had a less than great experience. I cannot say enough about this wonderful business.

Almost $600 for a pair of bi-focals, six months ago. When I lost one of the arms after it broke, I called the office. I was told, "Come right in, we'll fix you up with something!" After being informed that they don't sell that frame any more. When I made it in, I was reminded they don't make that any more. Then she went to the back to talk to someone back there. Came back with a set of frames like mine, that they are keeping on the rack (in the back room) "until it sold." Cannot sell you an arm; you would need to buy the whole frame. No, spending another $250 on a frame that will break is not my idea of helping me out! They should last longer than six months.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I read the previous reviews, and the majority of them were very positive. My family moved to the area, so I was looking for a good eye doctor for my family. On the plus side, they did get me in for an eye exam in about a week. I was pretty disappointed that the doctor didn't even bother to introduce himself to me during the exam. House of Optical has numerous physicians working there, so I had no idea who I was seeing. I took a pair of unopened contact lenses with me, so the doctor could see the brand I usually wear. I told him I was happy with this brand and had issues with other brands. I ordered a year supply of contacts after the exam. When I went to pick them up, I noticed the box was not the same as what I currently have. I questioned whether these were a different brand, the receptionist checked my file, and assured me that this was correct and what the doctor ordered. I thought maybe the company had changed the box design since I last ordered a year ago. When I got home, I discovered that these were actually a different brand, and they cost 20% more PER box than the brand I have worn for years (I had ordered 7 boxes!) I immediately called the office, and said I would like to return these and get the brand that I usually wear. I was told that I would have to come back in to get refitted. I explained that the doctor did the contact fit exam with the contacts that I usually wear. I had never worn the brand he prescribed, nor did he ever discuss changing brands with me during the exam. The receptionist told me, sorry but in order to get another brand I had to have another refit exam. I then told her I wanted to return these contacts and get my written prescription, and I would order my contacts elsewhere. When I went to House of Optical, and returned the contacts and got my script, I noticed the script had the same incorrect contact lens brand on it. I asked to have this corrected, and was told this was all they had on file, and I would need a refit. At this point I asked to speak with a doctor or manager. Of course, the doctor I saw was at lunch, but I did speak with a very apologetic manager. Seeing the script was also the first time I was able to see the name of the doctor who did my exam - Dr. Robert Feldman. The manager assured me she would get the script corrected, and email it to me. When I received the "corrected" script, the brand of contacts was now correct, but the script was still inaccurate. I wear multifocal contacts. Only my nearsighted measurement was on the script, not the entire multifocal prescription. Once again, I had to contact the office and get this corrected. I will not be returning, nor will I allow my family to go there. I do not recommend House of Optical to anyone. Be very leery of their business practices.

You might want to review your stance on covid concerns. I was not allowed to go in with my husband to pick out new glasses, even though we had masks AND have proof we have been vaccinated. We were here mid-day and the business was NOT at capacity. We were told at no time could we both go in together since I was not requiring service for myself. Fine. We went elsewhere. You are NOT a medical establishment, and even in MI, your requirements make no sense.
I have always gone to The House of Optical for my glasses and eye check up. The care I receive is outstanding and highly recommend their services. The staff weather it be Janice Diane or Percilla are very knowledgeable and always professional and very helpful.

Very satisfied with the service and quality that I received here. From the friendly ladies that greeted me when I arrived, the doctor who examined me, all the way to the staff that helped me pick out my glasses. I didn't feel rushed at all when we picked out my glasses, and everyone seemed interested in making sure that I was comfortable with what I was getting (they had HUGE selection by the way). I will definitely be returning to House of Optical for all of my eye care needs and urge that everyone does the same.

Overly Helpful staff. I ordered glasses and didn't love them once they were made. HoO allowed me to exchange them free of charge and pick a better frame which I love! My only gripe is the people who manage the phones are not "in the Know". I called and asked about the wait time and the woman on the phone said "10-15 mins, and the Optometrist isn't busy. I needed a check on my Rx. I show up and he is booked solid and no one behind the desk wanted to fess up. I ended up lucking out when someone didn't show up for their appointment.
