I wnet last tear and had not a very good experience now I see why they a lot of 1 stars. The lady that took care of me was kind of nasty. She wasnt very cordial. Thatsbwhy I gave them a 1. I'm sure others had a better experience. But mine was bad both times I went especially to picknup my glasses they never called me I had to call to see about my glasses and when I went in to fit them she very rude!!!. Especially when I told her I had caresource as my medical.

Poor customer service. The owner did a poor job adjusting my glasses and my daughter glasses. We lived 45 minutes aways now so im not able to keep driving for her to figure out how to adjust glass the right way. I been there before when it was owned by the other owner and was very satisfied that’s why I returned back but is very dissatisfied.

Don't Shop Here! Go to Lens Crafters & get your glasses in an hour!!! I have always bought my glasses at Lens Crafters, but we thought we'd try Diamond Optical, because we live in Chaparral and wanted to support a local business...we will never make that mistake again!! When we first ordered my son's glasses, it took over 2 weeks to get them! STRIKE ONE! After about 3 weeks, he broke them wrestling with his brother--as boys are wont to do--so we brought them back to Diamond Optical. Their policy on children's glasses is 1 free replacement, so we asked to have them replaced. They agreed and told us they would give us a call when they were in...three weeks went by with no call, so we returned to the store only to find out that they were never ordered! STRIKE TWO! So they re-ordered them and said they would be ready the day after Labour Day (about a week later). Well, they were closed the day after Labour Day and, guess what, the glasses still weren't ready the next day! STRIKE THREE, YOU'RE OUT!!!

I have had nothing but the best experience here both the doctor and the owner we're super nice I take all of my children here and we've been getting our glasses from them for about a year-and-a-half now I see the one-star reviews and wonder if the people that are coming in are just rude.I have never had a bad experience here nor a bad word said nothing but smiles.people are so quick to be mean and rude because I can hide behind a computer screen. Just went here for the first time... I must say I found the doctor very helpful and great at their job! I don't remember the ladies name that helped me get my glasses, but she was very patient and helped me pick out my frames... Definitely will be coming back here!

Very nice time while I was here. The staff were all helpful and friendly. I had an eye exam for the first of two visits here, and at my second is when I returned to pick up my first new pair of glasses in over a decade. The selection of frames wasn't bad, it was by no means a wide selection, and the pair I settled on weren't anything I fell in love with, nonetheless, it was my first time buying plastic frames, always choosing wire frames before so I was limiting myself by being picky about that. Still, I recall there only being 3 or 4 pairs of plastic ones I even liked, settling on the cheapest ones that I liked which still set me back more than I was hoping to spend at all. I feel like if there were more variety it wouldn't have been difficult to find a sweet spot between the price and style. Not buyers remorse at all, only something that taught me that unless I need the glasses ASAP, go ahead and browse the selection first just to get an idea.

Awful!!! Don't take your kids! I took my son here before he started school to see if he needed glasses. He just turned 5 and did not know all his letters yet. The doctor did not have pictures like every other eye place I've been too. He had him use a letter E and asked him if the E was up, down, left, or right. So confusing! I took him somewhere else 7 months later to find out he needed a way stronger prescription! What a waste of time and money! I tried to go back to have them reexamine him and the doctor refused unless I paid for it! If you have a young child- do not take them here! My biggest concern was when my son started struggling with reading- which was why I made sure I took him to get glasses before school! He is nearsided and Walmart said he was +3.00 and Diamond Optical +1.50. Huge difference!!!!!

My entire family has been coming to Dr. Nielsen since before I was born & my entire life! (28+ years) All the staff are all very friendly and helpful, the service is always enjoyable, and Dr. Nielsen is so awesome. So much that even moving out of the province, I have planned my optometrist visits to coincide with my visits back to the city.

I came here to get new contacts. There was no place to wash my hands before I had to to take out my lenses. When I went to pick up my new contacts that week they gave me the wrong prescription. Then when I got home with the new ones, I put in a new pair, and realized that they looked different. I looked at the box, and they are not for astigmatism, which I was told I have. I'm just going to have to get my prescription and order them myself. Only reason I didn't do that in the first place is because my insurance paid for the first 6 months. Now I'm stuck with these. I hope I am able to see ok in them because so far they seem uncomfortable. I understand people make mistakes, but two times in a row is very annoying.

Dr. Nielsen is the BEST optometrist in CALGARY!!! He really takes his time to explain what is going durring the eye exam. He is so welcoming and caring, it just makes the whole experience enjoyable. I'm not sure what all of these 1 star and negative reviews are all about... This is by far the best optical place I have ever been to! The doctor I had was amazing, she knew was she was doing and actually got my vision corrected better than any other place ever has! Everyone that I dealt with there was super kind and extremely helpful! Everything went super smoothly from making a appointment, picking out my frames and lenses, and them working with my insurance to get everything paid for. I highly recommend this place and will always come back to have my glasses/contacts needs taken care of... I will definitely be a lifetime customer there from this point forward!

I called today, spoke with the owner Christie. I have had a PAID scheduled exam as well as purchased glasses. She was very nasty on phone and offended because I asked for script info to order new glasses from another company. She continued to be rude and stated she would only give me information if I paid an additional 25$ for the requested information, as again I had already previously paid for both exam and glasses from her company. I will be calling BBB to further discuss this customer service experience.

Terrible service. Perhaps Diamond Optical should take the care to educate their staff. I was told by Diamond Optical staff that I wouldn't be able to get any warranty on my Maui Jim sunglasses purchased at Diamond Optical in Chaparral. The lady was argumentative and rude, providing no help what so ever! I called Maui Jim, printed a quick form and within a week had my lenses replaced free of charge! Talk about excellent customer care! Thank you Maui Jim!!! Oh but then again……I guess it's hard for Diamond Optical to help with any warranty work with Maui Jim when they don't keep their accounts paid and have been cut off by Maui Jim. Time to get a someone who knows how to run a business Diamond Optical. You should be ashamed!

I have been going here for about 2 years, and I love it! They are very friendly, helpful, and I have never had to wait very long for exams or finding glasses. Also, their glasses are stylist and inexpensive (even if you have to pay out of pocket for them). I am moving soon and am actually sad I can't go here anymore! It will be hard to find a new eye doctor's office that is as good as them.

If i could, I wouldn't even give this place a star. This place is filled with nasty rude people! I had nothing but a terrible experience here with them. They didn't help me at all!! They filled my prescription out wrong and instead of just fixing it they tried to charge me $80! Yeah right! I tried for weeks to talk to them and get everything figured out but instead of taking care of me and fixing what THEY messed up they dropped me. Which is good, I was going to leave anyway! Terrible place.

I have been going to Dr. Neilson since I was a child and am now a mom who still enjoys my check-ups and will take my children to see him. He is great with all ages and listens to any concerns, giving useful information at every appointment. I have seen him for both regular check-ups and emergency exams (an unfortunate blunt object incident) and have felt comfortable in his capable hands. He is always cheerful as are the rest of the staff at Diamond Optical. They make this healthcare appointment a good one.

As other reviews said, I find both employee and owner of this place very rude. They insulted me on my nationality for no reason. I did not know that I cannot get another pair that is the same as my glasses without a doctor prescription but why insult me on that? The owner was too combative and not much helpful. Too bad to have such a shop in this nice town.

I have a hard time agreeing with the 1 and 2 star reviews. My experience was 5 star from start to finish; from the day i called to set my initial appointment to the day i left with my new prescription/glasses. Would highly recommend this business and highly recommend the 4 people i dealt with while there. By the way, i noticed there was a review for not having a place to wash one's hands. IF it wasn't there two years ago, there is a nice, clean bathroom in the lobby now. Thank you to everyone at Diamond Optical; you've got MY business!!

Learn more I have had problems with my vision for the last two years after having my eyes examined at Lenscrafters and purchasing glasses from them. I was told that the difficulty that I had focusing clearly was due to the new prescription and it would pass after a couple of weeks and that teh prescription was correct. I've continued to have problems focusing clearly and my eyes strain easily. Ten minutes with Dr Neilsen resolved the issues. Dr Neilsen immediately determined that the reason that I was having difficulty was that my previous prescription was based solely on automated testing and not adjusted after manual tests by the examining doctor. He also noted that I showed no signs of cataracts in my left eye as I had been told a couple of times previously. Dr Neilsen's prescription settings based on his testing provided me with vision that I haven't enjoyed since my teen years! The staff was great to deal with so I've found the eye doctor that I will continue to use for my eye health.

We had a terrible experience taking our 1st grade-aged son here. The doctor never identified himself, was in the room for 5, maybe 6 minutes, and left after our son was unable to read the letters on the screen. Blamed it on his attention span. I would not recommend this place AT ALL.
