I've been going to Hakim for many years since i was 7 years old I'm 51 now
I'm not sure what happened with the bad reviews, I've been to this Hakim twice now and Hoss (the manager/optician) has always been very friendly and helpful. He's outgoing, joking with all the customers and making conversation, so that might be uncomfortable for some people, but I found it friendly and inviting. He tried different promotions that Hakim had going on to get me the cheapest price for my glasses, and I'm pleased with how they look. I'd definitely recommend this Hakim.
Both ppl that work there are terribly lazy, didn't help. Nobody in this store, and good reason for that. Go elsewhere.
Great customer service
Optometrist was never there.
I got 2 sets of glasses for my child. The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us by giving us a great discount on my child's lenses. And this was on top of the discount for the 2 frames as well. I ended up going the next week and got myself 2 pairs. Very pleasant staff and great service.
One of the arms on my glasses broke and was unrepairable. They were well past their warranty and the style no longer available. The two staff members working went through their box of old glasses to find arms with the same hinge style, spending about 10 looking for something that would work (and be comfortable). They replaced both arms, and wouldn’t charge me - not even a service fee.
Easily the WORST shopping experience I have ever had! When I placed my order, I was told that the glasses would arrive in about 5 business days. But by the time I finally got them, it was already 1 month later! During that one month period, they gave me all kinds of lame excuses, and repeatedly lied to me on when the glasses would arrive. That's not even the worst part. What really pisses me off is the extremely poor quality of the glass frame and the bad costumer service! The glass frame cracked within 3 days under normal usage (It was not dropped nor hit by anything. It just cracked while I was wearing it). I went back to the store, asked for a replacement, which they did but warned that there won't be a second one. Even after I made it clear that there is apparently a quality issue with the frame, I was sill forced to sign a thing that would void my warranty. Otherwise, I would have to walk out without getting a replacement! So I got the replacement and went home. Guess what, within 2 weeks, the new frame cracked, at the EXACT SAME spot! Please avoid this store at all cost! (Pictures show the first and second frames)
2 pairss of over priced glasses that dont fit right. Horrible frames
Hossein is so friendly and gave us lots of options to choose from. He tried to entertain my 5 year old while I was shopping. I'd definitely recommend this branch to a friend :)
Terrible service. I have bought contacts at a Hakim in Toronto for 15 years. I went in to the Princess location to get refills of the same prescription and was told they could only be dispensed by an optician. Apparently they don't staff one? what a waste of gas.
Store is clean and they had great choices for glasses, but the owner was incredibly, incredibly rude to me. I asked if they had the frame in different colors, and he said they did behind the counter. He seemed very annoyed that I asked to see them, and when I realized what other color choices there were I expressed conflicted opinion, "I love the frames but not sure about the colors." and his response was, "if you're not going to buy them I don't see why you need to try them on, they're in packaging and I don't want to open them." What kind of place won't let you try on the glasses? How badly did he NOT want to sell them? I asked again, to trying on one of the others but he seemed so pissed off at me that I didn't even ask about the second color. Going to go to the other Hakim Optical, hopefully those staff will be nicer.
Replaced my broken nose piece for free, great service
Wonderful service & super friendly staff!! I don’t go anywhere else in Kingston!!
The staff is very kind and fixing your glasses is free here.
Super friendly staff, big smiles and lots of help
Good service. Nothing to complain!
Very professional and extremely helpful. Easily the best experience I've ever had shopping for contacts and eye glasses. The staff always greets you with the smile and the optometrist is very knowledgeable and takes the time to give you proper advice. Will return again.
Want to thank the staff for all thier patients and help. Staff went above and beyond for me Had trouble with my insurance and they took it upon themselves to fix all my issue with my insurance company Thank you so much glasses are great can see clearly enough to write this review
Had a good experience at this place, but there is always room for improvement. - Booked appointment at 9:30 am. Got my examination at 10:20 due to a late customer that came before me. (Not their fault but I want to be open in my review) - Doctor was nice amazing, none of the rude jokes that people are complaining about. He was professional and helped me as soon as he was done with the previous customer. - Got 2 new frames and 4 lenses. The employees were amazing and helpful all the time and they tried their best to pick something I like and explaining the different things I needed and ones I do not need. (even recommended to not get a coating because I did not need it, so the ones that I experienced did not try to force anything on me) - The most annoying part is just the wait especially when a slower customer is before you. I can't blame the employees because they were trying their best to help the customer but that was my only issue. (My trip there was 2 hrs long (9:20 am - 11:30 am)
I had an amazing experience with Hakim Optical on Princess street. Jamie helped me trying different eyeglasses for almost one hour. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I strongly recommend them.
Visited Hakim on princess st, seeing some of the reviews I was pleasantly surprised to see it was under new management. The staff was very pleasant and helpful in helping me find some great frames. The manager discussed some great options with me to help me see my computer. Looking forward to picking them up.????
I was sold a pair of sunglasses that should never have been sold. For two years I have dealt with lenses falling out. I took it in twice for repair. Nothing helped. Their solution now is offering me 50% off my next frame and lenses. $300. Not a solution. Don't go. Your eyes can't have it all. I'm going to order online now for the rest of my needs.
Amazing experience. Knowledgeable, professional and caring staff. It was my first time with progressive lenses and they gave me tips on picking out appropriate frames, took time to explain the vision ranges and period of adjustment I might experience. When I encountered some issues with one of the lenses, Jamie (the Manager) was extremely patient making several tiny adjustments, one at a time, to pinpoint the issue. He was clearly very experienced with the small nuances that can make all the difference. It took us awhile to get it right, which was not a bad thing. In the end, I am extremely happy with my choice of frames, the lenses, and the service. Everyone who works here wants their clients to be happy with their choices and I was surprised to read some of the older negative posts. I would highly recommend this Hakim Optical location precisely because of the staff.
Very disappointing experience. Staff were friendly enough. Good selection of frames. However, my first frame cracked at the bottom after 3 months. They replaced free under warranty. However, the new frame broke in exactly the same way about 2 months later. I had to pay for new frames. When the third one broke, again in the same way, I was told that again I had to buy new frames; I insisted on a different brand. These broke as well about 6 months later. I asked to speak to the headquarters in Toronto, and was referred to the regional manager. He hypothesized that the new materials being used to make frames lighter were not as strong as those in the past, which sounded like BS to me. I was told to try metal frames, offered 50% off (less of a discount than the original frames), provided they could find frames to fit the lenses. They didn't have any, meaning that now I would have to buy lenses as well. I went to another optician, and that is the last they will hear from me, while I am now out nearly $1000. I subject my glasses to merely ordinary wear; I have worn glasses for over 40 years, and have NEVER had a problem like this. I was also given some new information about Hakim's products and their manufacture procedures which was eye-opening. Draw your own conclusions.
