My wife went to Dexter's once before and had commented on how rude the service was from Paul (both in person and on the phone) when she was in search of frames. She reluctantly decided to go back a second time because Dexter's had frames she liked and wasn't sure she could find elsewhere. I joined her the second visit and this time she was 'helped' by Dexter who made it clear that his only concern was closing up at 5pm. He was condescending, had a negative tone the entire time, and was not shy in bluntly telling my wife he didn't like her frame choices. He then falsely accused her of taking pictures of the frames she liked so that she could just buy them online. Maybe Dexter was having a bad day, but honestly I don't understand how any staff could repeatedly treat their prospective clients so poorly and still be in business. We happily bought her frames elsewhere this evening. Tl;dr Repeatedly terrible service - Avoid!

I went recently to Dexter Optical due to an issue I had with my eyeglasses. They gave me two new glasses despite that I was out of warranty. The service was prompt and efficient. Great Service!

Horribly rude and condescending. I stopped into this shop to inquire about how to improve the fit of my current pair of glasses. I waited patiently for my turn, and was promptly blown off by none other than the owner, Dexter himself, being told to take my glasses to "wherever I had them made" and to "have them fit them properly, no... at all". When I asked them if it was a service they could offer me, the man gestured to a stack of trays and indicated that they were work for his customers, and that he didn't have time for me. I would have easily paid for the service, and wasn't asking for anything free. I work in customer service and know horrible, rude service when I see it. The level of disrespect that they showed me was inexcusable. Stay far away unless you want to be treated like something Dexter's would scrape off their shoes. Avoid at all costs.

I am sorry to read the review posted by the dissatisfied client. I started using Dexter as my optician at his previous office at Davisville. I have followed him to Sunnybrook because I found his service impeccable and his skills and knowledge unparalleled. Dexter is an honest and dedicated professional who loves his work. He never tries to sell a product he does not believe in and which, in his opinion is not suitable for his clients. I wish we had more professionals of Dexter's calibre.

He even repaired my current broken frames without charge and suggested I didn’t need to replace them. I highly recommend this optician.

Absolutely horrible. We went in to look around for new glasses. The guy standing in the middle of the store offered absolutely no assistance. I tried on a couple different frames and when I went to jot down the model number of one that interested me, he comes over and starts screaming "No No No! You are not allowed to record any information off the frames! What right do you think you have to write that down". OMFG, I just wanted to look up to see if it was available in a different color or look up the company. It was some brand that I had never heard of "Enrico Cecchi" Good luck dealing with these idiots!

Dexter is simply the best! I've had glasses all my life and the service I get from Dexter is second to none. Whenever I (inevitably) loose or break my glasses, one phone call over to Dexter and he will have my lenses in the store the next day. I go in, pick my frames, and I leave a happy customer that same day. Thanks Dexter.
