went to this place because I am looking to find a new eye doctor in the city. Went in with such high hopes and expectations based upon other reviews. I was sorely let down. The woman (black bob haircut) behind the counter was very rude and dismissive of my own schedule when I went in to book my appointment. But I thought "maybe she's just having a bad morning" and decided to reserve judgment till my actual appointment. Nope, rude to me once again when I went in for my appointment. Dr. Tarabey was nice. Very informative but became quite pushy about purchasing glasses and contacts though the store and not other vendors or retailers. Regardless I got my updated prescription but will take my business elsewhere for my next check up and to purchase glasses and contacts (edited response) it is not illegal to purchase online. Frowned upon yes. Illegal? No. But when it's $50 vs $200 I think you know what I will pick. I have no issues buying through retailers but when it is basically expected that I will be purchasing when I had made it quite clear that I had no interest to purchase that day I will politely bow out and take my business somewhere else

Thompson Optics, at 11303 104 Avenue, provided a wonderful service! Months ago, my girlfriend and I went to the store and immediately saw the clean, organized, and pleasant interior. We were greeted by one of the friendly optometrist, Olivia, and helped us look for a new pair of glasses. We've had the new pair for awhile now and we're still satisfied with quality and look. I would recommend this store because of their reliability. And if there are new first-timers coming to the store, I would suggest looking for Olivia.

When it came to the lens selection, his experience was highlighted. This was the best service I have received at an optometrist clinic.

Dr. Moe Tarabey properly addressed the diagnosis for my special needs daughter after years of her struggling with eyesight issues and headaches. He was able to fit her with specialty lenses to help correct her vision. Both Jim and himself took the extra time needed to make sure she was properly educated in the use and care of the contacts. Every person in this clinic is very friendly and professional. We are very grateful for the improved quality of life my daughter is now experiencing. I highly recommend Thompson Optics.

Im always happy to see Jim and Mo (and the rest of the staff). They fitted me with special scleral lenses for Keratoconus a few years ago which brought my eyesight back to a level that I can drive and proceed with my photography. Not only are they highly experienced in this field, they also really care for you as a human being. they'll take the time it takes to make sure they do the best they can. There may be a little wait time sometimes, but then they are also able to fit you into their schedule when you have an acute problem. And hey, there's free coffee ????

They successfully fit me with Scleral lenses and during my inital visit were able to correct my vision and give me 20/20 with the lens in. When no one could help and the only hope I had was waiting for surgery, Tompson Optics gave me back my eye site. I am thrilled

Not impressed. I’m a 1st time wearer of glasses. I got suckered into upgrading my frame and lenses. I get the glasses and all is good at a distance (used mainly for driving). The problem I have it at short distance 1-5 ft (dashboard, computer etc). When I wear the glasses I feel like I’m going to puke. I go back in and am told I’ll have to pay another $200 to switch from single to progressive. Basically my glasses are useless. SCAM.

In the last year I developed an astigmatism in my left eye and one 3 times larger in my right eye. I was unaware that Dr. Tarabey's office was the only place that could help me because the scleral lens I needed was medically necessary. To make a long story short... from beginning to end ... it was nothing short of a miracle. Dr. Tarabey's extensive training had me trusting him completely. His easy going personality had much to do with that too! Even though I had surgery to flatten the right astigmatism... it did not work. After 3 different Boston hard contacts failing to be fitted properly... I gave up! Ten years of not the greatest vision has passed and broken frames brought me to Walmart... that's where I met up with Dr. Tarabey. And the rest is history! His assistants very friendly which made the experience much easier. I thank every one who was involved in my return to 20/20 vision. BY FAR! One of the most caring companies I have ever visited. The eye doctors and staff were extremely helpful and patient with me. Being honest I had no appointment and showed up as a walk-in. I visited another location but they just ignored me and told me they were full. Not the case here! They said "That is no problem let me see if we can sneak you in" WOW ! Amazing customer service! Got my new glasses in less than 24 Hours all ready to go! Not only are they crazy fast they provide the highest quality customer service and you can really tell they care for their customers! all staff and owners are amazing would 100% recommend to visit.

I just remembered what a terrible experience I had here last year. My first visit 2 years ago went well when I purchased an expensive pair of glasses- glasses I haven’t worn since because they do not fit me properly. I returned several months later for an eye check up and was treated terribly while I waited to see the optometrist. I actually walked out after waiting for half an hour before I saw anyone.

Aside from horrible experience I had at the clinic, where I felt quite pressured to make purchases, they have added my e-mail to their mailing list without my consent. Even after I have unsubscribed from he mailing list, I still received another e-mail a few month later, supposedly from another mailing list! I would highly discourage anyone from going there.

A bit more expensive than I expected but otherwise my experience here was wonderful. Dr. Ahmed was very professional and kind, and she explained a lot about my eyes and prescription that previous doctors elsewhere had never told me, which I really appreciated. She was friendly and funny and I didn't feel awkward during the exam which I often have elsewhere. The front desk staff were all very nice and the one lady that helped me most (I forget her name, so sorry!!) was SO patient with me while I tried on practically every pair of frames under $200 while I attempted to find something that I thought looked okay on my face. I caused a lot of extra work for her that day (during Covid, so of course she had to clean everything I tried on) but she was extremely friendly and laughed about it, which really helped me not feel so bad! Overall, excellent experience and I will definitely come back next time I need glasses or contacts.

I am so happy to have been referred here 4 years ago. Both Dr. Tarabey and Dr. Thompson are phenomenal at what they do and they make you feel at ease is stressful eye situations. My eye story started about 20 years ago when I started losing vision but couldn't find contacts or glasses to fix it through my family eye doctor I visited about 15 eye doctors before being diagnosed with severe keratoconus. It was very stressful not knowing enough about my eye disease and having no-one taking the time to explain it. Fast forward to 4 years ago after I got my first corneal transplant and got referred to Thompson optics to try to get Vision out of my eye post transplant they took me under their wings and no matter how many times I needed to unexpectedly see them during my first scleral lens experience they always welcomed me with compassion and understanding.I was very unsure of scleral lenses because one doctor at a different eye clinic fit me wrong and we couldn't get it out for 3 hours and so I was uneasy but at Thompson optics they did an amazing job at fitting the lens and making sure I was comfortable in it and using it. They also took the time to explain what happened to my eyes with my eye disease and what could happen in the future and just really gave me the knowledge I needed about keratoconus and helped me understand everything. I really don't know where I would be without them as I can't get corrected vision with glasses on anymore and scleral lenses were my only way for vision and they have done everything for me in the last 4 years to get me vision they are the kindest eye doctors and I am very thankful for what they do. I highly recommend for all your eye care needs.

The Optometrist at this office has some state of the art equipment, definitely worth the time and money for personalized service . Staff were lovely and friendly. And I would give them 5 stars. However, I’m very disappointed with the price I paid for contact lenses. I stupidly bought them in store for $70 more than I could have got them online. Expensive lesson to learn :(

Thompson optics has been my contact lens and Rx glass supplier since I moved to EDM in 2006. It was only Jim then with Cathy helping. Now Mo has joined the team. The team with Rose added has been nothing but excellent. After sales service is remarkable. I have complications from a previous lasik misadventure in 1998. Recently Mo recommended that I wear scleral lenses. They are fantastic in terms of comfort and vision. No dry eyes, dust in the eye, or RGP lenses falling off any more Thanks again my favourite team.

Went a few months ago to get my eyes checked and purchase glasses. Staff was friendly but I could not get over the wait time. I left work early to make my eye appointment and ended up waiting for over an hour, and it wasn't even that busy. It would have been good customer service for those waiting (especially those with young kids!) to at least get a heads-up that the optometrist was behind schedule or at least an apology for the long wait. Valuing a new customer goes a long way. Unfortunately, this has put me off from ever coming back...

I came about 3 hours away as I live in a rural town. The one staff was friendly. The optometrist was late for my appointment. The optometrist was helpful in discussing the advantages and disadvantages of laser eye surgery. The eye exam was fine except where I had to correct the optometrist as I saw the letters before she tested me. The optometrist was helpful in giving me some extra contacts until I received my order. After the exam I met with another staff member and I told the staff twice that I wanted the prescription to take back with me. Both times she said yes. When I asked for it the 3rd time she said the optometrist needed to sign it, but the optometrist had left the building. The staff ran outside to grab the optometrist, but the optometrist was gone. They then said they would email me the prescription. It was a number of days before I received the email. Overall I didn't feel good or confident with the service.

After trying to go the cheaper route the past 10 to 15 years with very disappointing results from chains and satellite optometrists, decided to give Thompson Optics a try. Dr. Tarabey was really good with my daughter, who has a very strong prescription from a young age, and took the time to listen to my frustrations with my own past experiences. He nailed my prescription in no time flat. Selecting eyewear with Rose was great, she was very helpful and informative. Eyewear prices are not inexpensive, but after past experiences, I'm convinced you get what you pay for. Excellent service, good products, and a great experience. Will be going back.

During the whole visit I felt pressured into making purchases and was constantly steered towards more expensive options without justification. When I asked about the differences in actual technology , I have not received any informative response except very vague statement in the key "it is better". The experience with the doctors was more along the lines of cheap "good cop - bad cop" action. Locked in ta small room and being bombarded with statements that it is illegal to buy lenses online and how bad other clinics are. In the end I felt like they tried to intimidate me into purchasing from them. I highly recommend going elsewhere to avoid such experience and pay significantly lesser amounts for the similar products.

I have been diagnosed with Keratoconus as a teenager and most of my life I have accepted the fact that my vision was below average and deteriorating with time. Thompson optics provided me with an amazing solution... Mds contacts. No longer sitting on my cornea but on the outer part of the eye. Amazing comfort and my vision is now 20/20. Improving several lines on the vision test. This experience nearly brought me to tears and I will always be grateful for the hard work of Dr.Moe and Dr.Thompson. My husband has an eye condition (Pallucid Marginal Degeneration) it is similar but different from Keratokonus. Greg was referred by his Cornea Specialist to go see Thompson Optics about 3 years ago to be fitted for Scleral Lenses. Up until this time my husband Greg's vision was very poor and he was getting minimal help with glasses. He was actually being scheduled for a Cornea Transplant. Greg felt he would never be able to wear these lenses because of his fear of putting anything in his eyes, he struggles to put drops in his eyes. But, with my encouragement and family he went to the appointment and then listened to what Dr. Thompson and Dr. Moe Tarabey said. At the first appointment they had the lenses in both his eyes...a miracle in my husbands words!!! The doctors both reassured Greg that the Scleral Lenses would give him 20/20 vision again. The Scleral lenses have given my husband his vision back! When he could see again, this was all the motivation he needed to put the lenses in. He also worked with the doctors for quite a few appointments to just get comfortable with putting them in. Both Doctors were so patient and positive with Greg that he was motivated and felt relaxed to work with Thompson Optics. If anyone has issues with their vision please go see the Doctors, they will help you!
