I've had glasses for 36 years, it's always a chore to find the right style. First I e-mailed with what I was looking for, they replied "come on in (with an appointment due to Covid). The shop was clean, the attendants were knowledgeable, AND when they heard I was looking for a "certain look", they suggested a style I fell in love with COMPLETE with sunglass flip-ups. It's been a month, but I sincerely love this suggestion. If anyone is looking for "that certain look", these professionals are here to help. I'll be suggesting Observatory Opticians to everyone. (Needs more than 5 stars).

The Observatory is an absolute gem for Edmonton and Whyte Avenue. You'll want to come here if you're looking for a well-curated selection of independent non-Luxottica brands. Sadeeq, the retail manager, is an incredible person and you'll receive the best service you can ever want for an eyewear shopping or retail experience. I went all over the city looking for a solid pair of sunglasses, but I couldn't find something unique and interesting. After some product and industry education on the world of Luxottica, I knew I'd be grabbing something from the Observatory. It took me a few visits to settle on a pair, but I'm super grateful for Sadeeq's patience, knowledge, and professionalism. One noteworthy feature that sealed the deal is their service of taking high quality photos (Canon DSLR with a 50mm prime lens) of you wearing the glasses from multiple angles and emailing them to you. I got the chance to mull over the pairs I was liked and I used the photos for extra opinions before committing to a pair. I'd 100% recommend checking out the Observatory and supporting an incredible local shop.

This is the best place in the city for designer eye-wear with people who can really help you find the right pair of glasses that fit your face and personal style. The staff here really knows their products and is very knowledgeable on the industry in general. You really feel like you are talking to experts who actually enjoy what they are doing.

This place is outstanding. I loved the selection of frames, and found a pair that was quite different for me - thin wire frames. I'm used the chunky plastic frames. Once they came back the idex or the nosepiece or something was not what I was used to and I became ill wearing them. They immediately took them back, and replaced the lenses to accomodate what I had been used to. If you could believe it, although an improvement, I was still very nauseated wearing them after trying for two weeks. I was ready to just give them to a friend and I called them to see if there was anything else that could be done. I had purchased them months prior and didnt' expect anything, but thought it was worth a try. To my amazement, they asked me to not give them away and to come in and let them try AGAIN! They replaced the lenses, and triple checked everyting to help my eyes adjust. I'm happy to say they no longer cause me any issue and I'm quite shocked at how much work and investement they put in to ensure these frames worked for me. An outstanding company. Can't wait to select my next set of frames! Thank you so much!

This is the place to go for quality and customer service. I've been buying glasses here for a few years now and these folks are always extremely helpful and friendly. They're are also way more attentive to detail than at the chain stores. Their selection is more on the high end so it can get pricey, but it's a nice departure from the usual stuff at Lenscrafters and the like.

Lovely experience at the Observatory today! The place has the greatest selection of glasses, and the most friendly/helpful staff. I was able to try on a number of different frames, and received helpful advice. After finding a great pair of glasses, the staff even fixed my pair from 2013 that I still have and love. Our whole family gets glasses (and sun glasses) from this store! If you have trouble finding frames from main retail brands, this is the place to go. They carry a unique selection of brands that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere. Sadeeq and Yvonne are wonderful in picking out frames and offer honest opinions without being pushy. They also offer great customer service after and making adjustments afterwards. My favourite glasses place!

Luv this place. Selection & service is outstanding. I have a small face & so in the past finding glasses was usually an unfulfilling chore for me. I’m super grateful that I found The Observatory & have been going there for many years now. They always have lots of small options for me & the opticians are really great at helping choose amazing frames (& sunglass frames too). The staff are also super skilled at adjusting & fitting frames, & happily readjust them for you when your glasses eventually need a tune up. I’ve dabbled in inexpensive glasses a couple of times, but find the lack of quality, durability & “staying in style” factors are just not worth it, especially for something I wear every single day. I’m done with “dabbling” & won’t go anywhere else now. Totally recommend The Observatory.
