I’m surprised Regent is so poorly reviewed because I’ve only had positive experiences there. They have a vast collection of frames to try on. It’s great for me because I have a low bridge, so most frames don’t work. They literally let me go column by column and choose frames I want to try on. I’ve purchased five pairs of glasses from them and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase from them again. I can see how some people might be intimidated by the frames behind the counter and the hipster staff, but honestly, they’re great. The optometrists are nice as well. I would say give it a try. Updated Oct. 2020: I’ve been going there since like 2010. They are still great as always and have some enhanced cleaning procedures in place for COVID. Also, they had my glasses glasses done within the hour! Still highly recommend.

Even though I don't live in Edmonton, I went into Regent with my boyfriend, and got very creative and knowledgeable help from Meg in choosing new frames. They were a little funkier than what I'm used to, but I've gotten rave reviews from all my friends. The prescription is accurate, and it's the first time I can wear my glasses all day in all circumstances - driving, computer, and reading. The manufacturers sent the wrong colour of sunglass shades, and Regent was able to get them replaced in a matter of days. I hgihly recommend them Regent!

AMAZING customer service! After losing my glasses I went in to order a new pair. They had to be special ordered, and unfortunately AFTER Regent Optical placed the special order the manufacturer discontinued them. I LOVE the frames I ordered and needed them for a photoshoot and Carlos went out of his way to make it happen in less than 24hrs! He found my glasses at another local place and had them couriered over. Could not be happier!! I have been going for years and the staff have always been patient with me picking out new frames :)

Girlfriend and I got some glasses today after our eye exams. Doctors were very nice and patient with the pre tests. We paid for our glasses at 3 or so, picked them up at 5:30. Great service, prices are very fair too. Entire family goes here, would recommend!

I've been going to Carlos for years, but never left a review. I was initially referred to him by a co-worker. I call him the "Glasses Whisperer". He always picks the frames that look best on your face! Anyway, I had an accident and my 3 year old glasses were damaged. He fixed, which was awesome, but then didn't even charge me!!! Stopped in this afternoon because I broke a pair of glasses and my backups had a horrendous scuff right in my field of vision. Connor helped me pick a pair from the EXTREMELY large collection and was super patient as I flipped back and forth between many pairs. Luckily they had my lenses in stock and were able to arrange an expedient pick up which is amazing because the scuff had been causing me headaches this week. Carlos and his team are great. I have been going to see him for well over 15 years. We moved to Calgary and I still go to him for our contacts and glasses as the service and price are great. How he fits us in to see the optometrist during a busy Saturday, and provides us great diligence on the exams. Extra tests and checks just to be sure so it doesn't feel like cattle in other places. The selection is large and so well priced. I love how he lets us try on the whole store if we want to get what we like. Once we pick one, he always brings one more to contrast to ensure we love what we picked. Love the location now as the old store was a bit tight.

I was looking to get prescription lenses put into a pair of sunglasses, and the second I set foot in the door, I was met with competent, polite, and quick service. It only cost $80 for single vision lenses matching the exact tint of the original sunglasses (Ray Ban G-15 tint). They were ready only 3 hours later! I am beyond pleased. I was expecting to have to send these out, and I had actually gone down the street because I blanked and forgot they had moved, and I was quoted $180. Amazing service, speed, and prices. Thank you again!

I went in two weeks ago for an eye exam and was very pleased with the service I was given at Regent Optical. While I was waiting for the doctor, one of the workers helped me pick out a few pairs of glasses that nicely framed my face. He was very attentive and seemed to really care about helping me make a decision. The doctor was very nice and funny. He knew how to take a joke which is something that I admire about doctors. Unfortunately, my health insurance only covered the exam so I wasn't able to buy glasses there, but I appreciated all the options. The lady who took my payment was very sweet. A downside to this clinic is that the glasses were not budget-friendly. They wanted $300 for the glasses I had originally chose, and I bought pretty much the same frames for a hundred dollars cheaper at costco. Overall, the staff at this location is very friendly and their comprehensive eye exams are affordable if you're on a strict budget like me. I would definitely recommend booking an appointment here, but get your glasses somewhere else unless you have the money to spare.

This evening I accompanied my Aunt to pick up her brand new glasses so I decided to inquire about pricing on replacing the nose pad of my moderately old glasses. To my surprise, the owner Carlos took my glasses and replaced the pads without a single charge! His reason-my aunt has been a loyal customer to them for years now. I was amazed by the level of customer service I was offered. Thank you Regent Optical Whyte Ave!

I bought my sunglass here worth almost $350. I came back to adjust my temple. Apparently the guy Chixsen mishandled and broke my sunglass so he ordered a new pair. I waited almost a month. I came back August 18. The 1st replacement they gave me have manufacturer's defect on the temple. The temple was deformed and the frame shape is misaligned due to their mishandling. I phoned them few minutes after i left and told them i will comeback to show the defects. The next day, I spoke to manager Carlos and asked for replacement because the sunglass frame is deformed and damaged due to their wrong adjustment and with defect on the temple which he admitted after i showed to him. He told me that the defects is normal and not visible. (really?? I paid for that!!) Who want to wear a deformed and defective sunglass?! Carlos said "Take it or Leave it?" I asked "what do you mean?" Carlos answered "Take it with you and go.. Or Leave it here until you comeback to get the sunglass!" Really? Put your self in my shoes man!! He wasted my time!!!!!!!! Iam so upset so I walked away and left my sunglass. I told him if he will not replace my sunglass I will file a complaint for unfair business practice. After all they damaged my sunglass and replaced with defect and misaligned frame. I got a text message after I left the store that he will replace my sunglass. After more than one month--again! I got my 2nd replacement. I never asked to adjust because I do not want them to break my sunglasses again! I will never come back to Regent Optical shop to do my business! The manager Carlos is unfair, unprofessional and arrogant the way he handled my complaint. The worst service you can never imagine in an optical shop!!!

What a fantastic experience! The staff was very knowledgeable and efficient. The turnaround time for ordering glasses with a new prescription only takes one to two days. They have a huge selection of frames on sale, you'll definitely be able to find the one that suits you! As a bonus, they will waive the eye exam cost ($70) when you purchase the glasses at their store.

I bought my glasses there last year. I'm very happy with the eye exam I had there, I thought the lady who gave it to me was very thorough. They have good prices and I got a great service in the store. They also work really quickly. This year I had to go back for repair on my glasses. I had to order new frames. They took the model number and took care of everything for me. I barely had to wait while they put the lenses into the new frame. I got a brand new pair of glasses for quite cheap and the gentleman who took care of me was very efficient and very nice. My experience with regent is absolutely great.

I have a friend who is super loyal to Regent Optical and was going to visit the store today and coincidentally, I have my wife's glasses that were broken and needed fixing. I asked my friend to bring them in to see if they could fix them and THEY DID! They didn't even charge me! I didn't buy the glasses there, but next time, we are visiting Regent Optical FIRST! I have gotten several pairs of glasses from here over the last 9 years. I just picked up pair #5. The staff at Regent are helpful, patient, offer advice but aren’t too pushy. There’s a variety of choices and the glasses are done fairly quickly. I’ve gone to one other higher end place in Edmonton and been disappointed with both the prescription and the frames. I’ll keep coming back here for consistent service and quality of glasses. Also recommended this place to my brother and he’s been quite happy with you guys as well.

My son and I both have been customers of Regent Optical on Whyte Ave for the last 10 years or so. For the most part their customer service is ok but every now and then, I have a bad experience. Today would be a prime example of that. Today, my son and I both got our eye exams done and ordered our prescription eyeglasses. All together we spend about $800 dollars. The customer service while picking the frames started out ok but as I was asking questions and deciding which frames to pick, the employees became impatient and rude. They were quick with me. I got the impression that they were talking in their native language to each other about me. I’m very unhappy about the service I received today. They made me feel like they were doing me a favor by helping me pick out a frame.

I have been a client of Regent Optical for over 20 yrs. They provide excellent service with a large selection of fashion frames and excellent pricing. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. A few days ago, I had to wear an optivisor magnifier under a face shield to do emergency dental work. I found it very cumbersome and heavy on my head and neck. I knew I needed to seek help from Regent Optical. Mr Wilson Wong spent 30 minutes patiently with me to find a solution for my problem. Today I have a pair of custom made working eye-glasses. They work like magic: light weight, fashionable, very comfortable, wide visual field and very precise with excellent magnification. I am a dental professional with high standards. I am extremely impressed with their workmanship and highly recommend this to all professionals who do precision work. An amazing store yet again! I have been to this location multiple times, and every time I am greeted with amazing service. I had to update my Rx since I felt my contacts were not working as well as they used to. Regent helped me last time and shipped my year supply to me. This time I was in the area and popped in. With my new Rx, I ordered another year supply and they said they would have to order, I wasn't in a rush so I was cool with that. Great thing is, they had them delivered from another location and were ready a few hours later!! I was so thrilled since I was leaving Edmonton in a few days,and with the extremely fast service, I was so happy so I bought a new frame as well. Last time I got some amazing frames, and this time went with the same manufacturer and was pleasantly surprised yet again. Amazing fast service and efficiency. I will always keep coming back to Regent Optical. Thank you!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I booked an appointment to do a yearly vision test for my workplace which I had done the previous year with Regent. When I booked the appointment on the phone I had expressed that the reason for my appointment was to get this test done. I arrived for my appointment without issues until I sat down with the Optometrist and he looked at the forms I needed filled out. I was told that they did not have the equipment necessary to perform the test and that they could not sign my forms. When I mentioned that I had informed staff of the purpose for my appointment well in advance the Optometrist informed me that he had issues filling out this paperwork in the past. I don't know what's worse, the fraud or the fact that optometrists can't even tell their front desk staff about not being able to fill out these standard workplace forms, so people don't have to waste their time. Edit: My issue is not that the test could not be completed. My issue is that this problem has occurred in the past, as the optometrist said, and yet nothing has been done to prevent it from happening again. The fact that the test was not completed, but my forms had been signed previously is also a problem.

I always have a great experience at Regent. I love how the eye exam is included if you buy a pair of glasses within 60 days after the exam. he staff is helpful and the glasses are ready quickly. The only thing that I dislike about Regent is that 97% of the glasses are in display cases layered on top of each other and to see any pair you constantly have to ask "can I see those ones" for every single pair. I would prefer if more glasses were on displays where you could you just go up and grab them and try on whatever you wanted without having to ask for the staff to pass you every single pair (I usually try on about 50). Other than that I always end up finding great glasses and have even recommended them to family and friends and will continue to return in the future.

Very satisfactory customer experience especially for a person like on disability-- it can be hard to find people who go the extra mile to treat one with respect and dignity. I've had other places like Lenscrafters treat me like I'm barely worth the time but these guys went to great length to treat me with professionalism and kindness and for that I thank them.

My experience here was alright until the end of my checkup, when I asked for them to measure my PD (pupillary distance) so I would have the option of ordering glasses online. I was met with what I perceived to be a vindicative charge of $25 for what would have been a 30 second procedure. This suggested to me that the clinic puts profits above people and doesn't really care about it's clients. It's too bad the store is undermining the efforts of Dr. Chan, as I couldn't have been happier with the service I received from him. Edit: Based on your response it sounds like you would include the PD measurement in your $70 eye exam fee. That is simply untrue as your employee told me that it would be a $25 charge. It is your right to nickel and dime customers if you want, but your refusal to do the PD measurement at a reasonable rate for me all but ensures I won't be back. I don't understand how other places can do it for free, but you want to charge $25 for it. Edit 2: Carlos, you very much deserve the one-star rating I gave you. You wanted to charge me an exorbitant amount of money for a service that every other optometrist I have been to includes in their service. That's right $0 versus the $25 you wanted to charge me. You're asserting that I'm complaining about "not get[ting] a service for free," but that obviously isn't the case; I simply want what I paid for, a complete eye exam. You did not complete the job I hired you to do! I don't know what is so hard to understand about this!? The fee feels petty, vindictive, and exorbitant. You know as well as I that you're using this fee to deter folks from ordering their glasses online in an attempt to coax them into purchasing glasses from you. That doesn't seem right, or fair, to me. Anyways, I will not be returning to your store, and I will warn others against going there. Ps. I find it quite telling that you'd rather take the time to argue with your customers online than provide the best service possible. Surely it would have taken far less time to provide me with my PD than to come here and draft responses to my complaint.

I've been a customer of Regent on Whtye for over 15 years. This is a well run family owned business that knows what they are doing - support your local businesses! Their customer service is amazing (thanks Ricky!). The prices are great and frame selection is vast, so you can get whatever you want. The optometrist is thorough and takes the time to do a thorough examination. The staff are knowledgeable and take the time to properly inform you on your purchase. Lastly there is a ton of parking which is a huge plus given the location. Also, they're maintaining strict covid protocols, which is a great. Cheers to job Carlos and his amazing team.

This has been my eyewear place for the last four years, Staff are overly friendly and helpful - they helped repair my old prescription at minimal cost to myself. The Dr. I deal with is always a treat, he explains issues clearly and concisely, is *incredibly* friendly. The only unpleasant experience I had was unfortunately a requirement of the trade - air to the eyes - I'll personally be coming back when I need to due to the overall service.

Outstanding customer service! I recently dropped my half year old pair of glasses in the gravel on a camping trip and received a major scratch on one of my lenses. I love this place!!! They are excellent in helping you pick glasses to fit your face shape. I got a pair of Tiffany & Co. frames, lenses, and an eye exam for $338 total. And my glasses were ready in about 45 minutes! Highly highly recommend Regent Optical.

This location is absolutely amazing! They got me in for a same day appointment. I spent quite awhile looking for new glasses, the gentleman that assisted me was very kind, helpful and patient. After I finally chose a pair, the total for everything was under $300, and my glasses were ready less than 24 hours later.

Booked appt for eye exam in Aug. I prefer to speak in Cantonese when describing my eyes situation, asked Dr. Chan if he is okay with that and he said yes but showed me attitude. During the exam, he asked me what contact lens brand I'm using, I can't remember the exact name and he was annoyed because i cannot tell the brand name. After exam, he said my eyes are too dry, will not let me order contact lens until 2 weeks after (that's fair and I appreciate it). But he knows that I have no glasses at home, so I'm basically blind for 2 weeks?!? There is no options for me? No eye drop or other advice can be offered to me at all instead of "ohh we are closing in 20mins, nothing we can do". This is terrible experience! Called the Chinatown branch for scheduling appt for re-check, everything was fine until I confirmed the appointment with the staff. I clearly states "I prefer not to meet with Dr. Chan, I can meet with anyone but not Dr. Chan". The staff said "it's alright, just let us know when you come in." Why I cannot confirm whom I'm meeting with? I'm booking appointment now?!? Staff answered "well, we are Chinese, it is better not to show the request on the appointment sheet/ system/ whatever...." excuse me, what I need is to confirm not meeting with Dr. Chan, this has nothing to do with my nationality!! If you cannot even just confirm a name of the Dr., you've better let me know, then I will end the conversation right the way. I thought I can give Regent optical a second chance but sorry, both your stores are not offering basic quality customer service, not to even mention exceptional customer service!!! Terrible!!!

I live in Vancouver, but still shop at Regent Optical in Edmonton for my glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. You would think Vancouver would have someplace comparable where I could get all this stuff, but honestly, nothing beats Regent on selection, service and price. On my recent trip back to Edmonton, I knew I would be stopping in to get some new frames, so I also brought in some old frames (from Regent originally, still love em) to get new lenses put in. I got lenses replaced in FOUR old pairs (one turned into sunglasses), picked up a new set of eyeglasses, and a new pair of sunglasses, all for what my husband's insurance covers. AND it was done the same day! There's no other place that can do this, and I've looked! I would never buy glasses or contacts online - there's no follow up and no customer service like what Regent provides. My whole family goes there, and everyone is always treated exceptionally well. Can't say enough great things about Regent Optical. I give them 10 stars out of 5!
