Great place to purchase your glasses here. I've been a long time customer here and have always come back and referring other people to buy their glasses here. I've bought brands like Ray-Bans and Hugo Boss and have always loved the frames here. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The pricing is fairly competitive and they always have a Groupon Deal to help save on the lens and frames. They have a pretty wide selection of brands to choose from. If you are looking for new glasses, I would highly recommend this place. They will definitely help you find the glasses you need!!

The service here is amazing, Dr.Troung who performed my eye exam was so nice in explaining everything to me and making it super quick and easy. I picked out a set of frames with the help of Alaukik, he was so patient and helped me find exactly what I wanted. He even fixed my current frames which were lopsided at no cost in the back quickly, thank you again Alaukik! The prices are great and my groupon for $150 off made it even better. Had a great experience at Optical Thirty 8 today, this was my second eye exam at this location. From the time I stepped into the store I felt safe and welcome. Amy was there to greet me and gave me instructions on what to expect for my scheduled appointment. They have a great variety of eye wear. I bought three frames in the past 6 years from here. They have good recommendations (especially for my asian features) and I was also able to order from the catalogue (that were not in store). I also have eye exams here (3 times with different doctors each time) and it is pretty convenient. Glasses are expensive anywhere you go and I choose optical 38 because of the friendly staff here.

Anne was an absolute delight and incredibly helpful when I called in. I needed contact lenses ordered but I also needed a new pair asap since mine were drying out. She helped me order a few boxes and gave me very helpful information about transitioning to daily lenses as well since I wear my contact lenses a lot. She even gave me a few free pairs to try and let me pick them up on the same day!! And when I got there, another associate saw that my sunglasses was missing one of the nose pads and she offered to fix it for me on thr spot for free! I just had a great experience at the optical thirty 8 on queen street. Amy was very patient with me and helped me shop for the perfect pair of frames within my insurance budget. She has a great attitude and I did not feel an ounce of pressure or pretentiousness while shopping. The optometrist who examined me was also very kind and comforting! Optical Thirty8 on Queen Str West is amazing. The optometrist was kind, charming, patient and explained everything in clear detail. A very thorough exam. I was helped by the lovely Anne and one of her colleagues out front and was so thrilled with the great assistance and guidance Anne provided. She spent a long time helping and advising me on finding the perfect frames, contact lenses and explained exactly how my glasses will be constructed and what I should expect. She has great knowledge on the subject, a delightful sense of humour and made me feel very special. All and all a wonderful experience. I left smiling and satisfied.

I was at Optical Thirty8 on Queen Street today and the service was absolutely fantastic. I was greeted by a gentleman named Peter who took more than a moment to spend time with me. He then proceeded to direct me over to a colleague of his named Ami, who was the young lady who helped me go through all the frames and all the questions that I had. She to ok a lot of time to help me pick out the right frames from myself as well as being that it was my first time ever buying prescription glasses, she took the time to explain every little thing to me. She was absolutely fantastic and I totally recommend going there. I will be going back in 3 months to buy prescription sunglasses from them. Ami really did an amazing job. I'd like to thank all the staff that were there today for doing a tremendous job.

Very helpful and excellent customer service. I highly recommend getting eye test here as well. All my inquiries were met they take their time to ensure your satisfied before leaving. I was travelling in less than a week and worried if my glasses will be done by then together with my kids. They did all they could and less than a week they called me to pick up.

I had a great experience at Optical Thirty 8. I went in looking to update my glasses. I told Anne what I was looking for and she picked out the perfect pair of Ray-Ban Aviators on the first try. Of course I tried on like 5-10 more pairs after that, only to be amazed to come back to her first choice. Dr. Tran also made me feel very comfortable during my eye exam, explaining to me everything she was doing and making me feel educated about the whole process. Great selection of designer and house brand frames of all price ranges. I would definitely recommend this place.

My wife and I have just purchased prescription eye-glasses at Optical Thirty 8 last week. We would not say their service is bad. They offer lots of trendy frames and my wife got a great experience with Dr. Karen during the eye exam. The sale staff Anne was friendly and nice. However, we're a bit concerned about price transparency here. The staff spoke very fast and did not explain the pricing scheme and promotions in a clear and concise way. No public and standard price for the type of lenses we have to pay. We have never experienced any professional services in which the staff noted down the price in the small piece of paper and used a small calculator to calculate the discounts herself. Had a feeling that's kind of personal transaction in a marketplace.

Went in today to get an eye exam and new prescription lenses. They have a very helpful staff, including Amy who helped me out today, and a good selection of frames. Worth noting that I got a discount on my glasses because I got an eye exam there. I really appreciated the price transparency throughout the process. They also gave me sample contact lenses with my new prescription to try for free after my exam. The doctor was very nice as well :-)

She is patient, honest and has a great sense of humour. Seeing the last time I’d seen her, I hadn’t slept the night before and was so tired She put up with me. Honestly, the staff are wonderful and a great array of frames. It’s my go to. Can’t wait for my new glasses.

Staff is very friendly, and Dr. Eng is extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Eng was very patient with me, didn't rush, and is a clear and effective communicator. Also, great COVID-19 precautions -- I didn't feel unsafe at any moment. Aside from the actual exam, my overall experience was just "ok". Except for Amy's hospitality and Dr. Eng's knowledge, there isn't much that entices me to come back. They have gotten expensive, and I'm concerned about their transparency. Some of their business practices are very "near-sighted" (pun intended). My last exam in July 2019 cost me $85 at Optical Thirty 8. In November 2021, the exam cost me 29% more ($110). I would have been ok with this bump if they provided additional information or measurements (such as the below....) Moreover, I chose Optical Thirty 8 because they historically provided my partner with her PD measurement (without having to purchase glasses). They have been reluctant to provide me with my PD measurement during every exam. Instead, most recently, the salesperson deflected the request by politely telling me that they won't provide a PD because of liability concern. Specifically, if their PD measurement is off, and I "fall down the stairs because of a headache or dizziness", that they could be liable for the bad PD measurement. (?) Clearly, the salesperson (Amy's colleague) was grasping at straws, and felt the need to misinform me due to the top-down culture at the store. It's a shame because, otherwise, they've been a pleasure to deal with. (I get it... From a business perspective, if I purchase glasses elsewhere, why would they supply me with information that enables me to purchase from their competitors? Unfortunately, I have a very limited budget to purchase glasses, and access to this information is in my best interest. While they are reluctant to provide this information, some optometrists are happy to look out for the patient instead... I'd rather be a patron to optometrists that look towards their patients' best interest) Their approach is very near-sighted... Consider it this way: If I'm unable to purchase glasses from Optical Thirty 8 due to cost constraints, and nothing can change that, the only difference NOT providing me with my PD would make is that I won't return to them for future exams. Nor would I be able to recommend them in good conscious... Had I received my PD, I'd be happy to come back in the future... I'll be switching back to my old optometrist. Now that Optical Thirty 8 is no longer competitive against them, and they aren't willing to provide PD measurements (unlike my former optometrist), there really isn't much to separate them from other optometry shops. Except for the immediate exam with Dr. Eng, this most recent visit felt strictly like a business transaction, and not a long-term patient relationship...

The folks at optical 38 were awesome. After I told them that my glasses had snapped in a half and I need a new prescription for my glasses (mine was quite old), they were able to easily accommodate within an hour. We are repeat customers of Optical Thirty8 since I’d say at least 6 or 7 years ago after we found this gem because of a Groupon promotion for the first time and then we just stick with them. Why? Exceptional service we received each visit but this particular last visit, I felt Amy (first time meeting her at this location) is super attentive yet not hovering over your shoulder kind, which made me feel very comfortable shopping while waiting for my partner on his eye exam. Peter was measuring the lenses for my partner because if bi-focal and progressive prescription but the level of attention to details is next level! I know you would want to ensure the measure is right but as he said “measure 10 times and cut once” shows how above and beyond they are. Also they won’t push you on getting the pricey frames, but rather what’s more suitable for you in terms of look and comfort, which is a big thing as when you wear your glasses, it’s on your face for a long period of time. Oh almost forgot the optometrist Dr. Kevin Tieu, took his time to ensure the I get the right prescription when I asked him to go back and forth different combinations. I will not hesitate to recommend anyone who would want to get their eyes check or even just go get a pair of sunglasses, Optical Thirty8 is the place you should go!

I would like to thank specialist Narma and optometrist Dr. Patrick Eng for excellent service! I had visited several eyeglass stores but Optical Thirty 8 had by far the largest selection and most professional and knowledgable staff. Narma was very patient and explained many eyeglass frame and lens considerations with regard to my prescription to help me make an informed decision. Dr. Patrick Eng is an expert in eye health and has very good communication skills. He conducted a thorough examination and answered my many eye health and preventative health questions in great detail as he cares about his patients' wellbeing.

Amazing experience. Awesome staff. Special shout out to Peter. Super knowledgable, accommodating and friendly. We went through a lot of pairs of glasses and with his help found a bunch I liked but was on the fence about. He understood what I liked about each frame and what I wasn't a hundred percent sold on and pulled up a pair he thought would be perfect from the online Tom Ford website. I put a deposit down feeling confident one of the pairs of glasses I would be happy with and he ordered in that pair of glasses. Needless to say they were PERFECT! He new exactly what I needed and am thrilled with my new glasses. I also didn't feel any pressure to load up on all the frills. He went over all pricing options with me for lenses and said what he thought would help/be important to me and asked all the right questions. I upgraded one part for blue blockers which gave me better anti scratch etc. but was still on the cheaper end. He spent a lot of time with me so I felt super comfortable. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them and have Peter to thank for that. Thanks Peter and the rest of the Optical Thirty 8 team, will definitely be back in future!!!!
