Dr York completely changed my life by identifying my ill fitting contact lens as the cause of all my daily eye pain, allergies symptoms and constant discomfort which was impacting my ability to be productive, to parent well, to be happy and present in my relationships. With the help of technically brilliant and kind optometrist, Charl van Zyl, I now have my first trial pair of scleral lenses and for the first time in years feel comfortable and relaxed. I am so grateful. Highly recommend Dr York if you are a Keratoconus sufferer.

I suffered from Fuchs desease. The water pumps in both my eyes had stopped working and with the buildup of excess water in my eyes, it felt like I was looking through a very thick mist and eventually would not be able to see. Dr. Nick York is one of 4 Drs. In South Africa who are qualified to perform the operation. He completed one eye at a time. He imported the cornea from the USA, and replaced my faulty pump in my eye with the one he carefully removed from the imported cornea. A miracle as I was almost blind but now I can see perfectly and clearly from both of my eyes.. I saw Dr Nick York at the Royal Melbourne Eye and Ear Hospital emergency department in July 2019, presenting with a very sore, red right eye lasting for a week. He immediately diagnosed blepharitis and when I told him I've had rosacea since I was a teenager, he said it was almost certainly ocular rosacea that caused the blepharitis. He also did a tear test which showed I had severe dry eye syndrome, much worse in the right eye (probably because I'd had cataract surgery on the right eye 2 years previously). I was given a pamphlet about blepharitis and dry eye syndrome and prescribed antibiotics and preservative free Hylo-Forte eye drops and Poly Visc ointment. These cleared the condition well enough for me to have cataract surgery on the left eye in late August 2019. One month later I developed blepharitis in the left eye - almost certainly because of the cataract surgery. I am sorry to learn that Dr York has now returned to South Africa as I had found him to be very sympathetic and efficient, and treated me as an intelligent adult (unlike some others in the Emergency Department). It is Australia's loss and South Africa's gain.

Took my 4 year old son to see Dr York after getting a finger poke in his eye that was extremely painful. Dr York made my son feel completely relaxed and was very gentle, kind and caring. Dr York quickly diagnosed the problem and reassured me that my son’s eye would heal completely and quickly (which it did) I would highly recommend Dr York, especially for kids, as even though my son was in a lot of pain and nervous, Dr York knew just how to handle the situation and make him feel comfortable and at ease. (As well as helping to reassure a worried mom)
